It could only take a truly special place for me to come out of review retirement (like over ten years) but here I am and here is the place! This Bostonian found wisteria to be wicked cute and wicked f***ing good. I love me some exposed brick interior that paired so well with their awesome wine list! And my girl, my server extraordinaire, Amber, knew all about the best wines and best pairings for the southern fare menu. And I felt so taken care of and seen as a celiac, I could have nearly everything on the menu and thank the universe I could get the scallops because they were immaculate, truly holy mother and ghost style. This is a cool restaurant in Inman Park. The food is great!! I went here with some friends and we had a great time. The service was good. They have specials so we tried the house chips to start. It came with blue cheese, bacon, tomatoes and a balsamic drizzle. The chips were fried just right. For my meal, I had the fennel dusted scallops...yummy!! It came with truffled white beans, corn, bacon, and beurre blanc sauce. I got a side of collards, which were alright. I also had the chocolate tart, which was very rich and reminded me of fudge. They have a good amount of seating and valet parking outside, which I appreciated as it was raining when we left. I'd definitely go back!! read more

Came here on a Saturday night with some friends. We ordered some apps--the Brussel sprouts, deviled eggs and some fritters. The deviled eggs and Brussel sprouts were delicious and would definitely have again. I had the black currant margarita and it was incredibly strong. I honestly didn't like it at first because it was too strong but over time the ice diluted it and I made sure to keep mixing it. For my meal I got the grouper and that was really well seasoned and a pretty big portion as well. I ended up taking it home. One of my friends ordered the chicken and another ordered the lamb special --which was amazing! Overall a good place to try a slightly elevated southern cuisine. Our server was also great, pissed I don't remember his name though. There is valet parking but I actually decided to just find street parking which isn't too bad if it is not a super busy night. read more

I have really mixed feelings about this spot. Parking is valet, but you can pay via online tools & it's simple. The atmosphere is nice, but tables are quite close together/packed in. Service was fantastic. Wine and cocktails/mocktails list is solid. The food is not bad, but also doesn't excite me. My pork dish had so many ingredients, and I simply prefer simpler dishes. The corn fritters are not like a bread option, and I sort of wanted bread. I think southern food & I want simple dishes, and these are just a bit complex. We ended up at Wisteria after an unsuccessful attempt to dine at nearby Amore e Amore's "The North Highland Pole" (didn't know until we got there that it was reservation only). We do not come to this part of town often and in an attempt to salvage our evening decided to try Wisteria on the walk back to the car. It was around 7 pm on a Saturday night and the host was so welcoming and gracious about the fact that we didn't have a reservation. There was a table for two towards the back available right away. Our server was very friendly and helpful, explaining that they have been open for 24 years. I ordered off the seasonal cocktail menu, the caramel espresso martini, while my bf had the pear spiced old fashioned. Mine was a bit of a dessert drink with the addition of some kind of cream liquor but it was still good to start the meal off too. The server helped us to select the beef carpaccio as a starter and we split the trout for dinner. Both dishes were excellent. The carpaccio was a bit vinegar forward for my liking but I enjoyed that it was served with greens, fried capers, shaved Parmesan, etc. The trout had a panko breading which added a nice crunch. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the praline cheesecake. The portions were small so we didn't have any trouble finishing both. We were very happy to have stumbled upon this gem. One of the best experiences I've ever had. Valentines Day reservations were made. Valet parking was available and we were able to head on in. Once we got there we had to wait a little bit for our table so we (I) had a drink at the bar. It was delicious! Not too strong but enough to get you feeling good. We sat toward the back of the restaurant and it was very cozy even though the restaurant was packed. We started with an order of corn and green chili fritters with the bee pollen honey butter. These were so good and I truly contemplated ordering more. We also had the calamari. This was so delicious and the presentation was so colorful and fun! For entrées I ordered the grilled pork tenderloin w/ sweet potato puree, apple walnut relish, and crisp onions. My husband ordered the iron skillet half fried chicken. Since he doesn't eat pork he swapped the collards out for sweet potato puree and kept the corn pudding and mushrooms. We also ordered a side of Wisteria mac and cheese to share. I went here last Saturday with my husband and a couple friends for my birthday. I've always wanted to try this place and the menu looked great. Well, Wisteria did not disappoint! I love the fact that they had a spirit free cocktail list because I don't drink and I always feel so left out when my friends are drinking and having fun. We ordered the onion cheese fritters for an appetizer and they were so delicious and savory. For dinner, I ordered the pan-fried chicken with stewed mushroom collards and cornbread---everything was fantastic! I couldn't even finish my dinner. We skipped dessert and I got a second glass of AF Rosé and my friends ordered another bottle of wine. I left full, happy, and look forward to going back. Markie was our server and she did a wonderful job describing the menu and making recommendations. She frequently checked on us but wasn't overbearing (which is what I like). All the boxes checked at Wisteria. Great service, great food, great ambience. Some of the best shrimp I've ever had. It was fresh, buttery, and perfectly cooked. In my opinion, shrimp is a deceptively difficult thing to prepare. But this rendition was absolutely perfect. The grits were creamy, and really tasted of corn. So often grits are bland or just taste of a bunch of cheese mixed in. But this dish was thoughtful and really complimented the shrimp. I've never tried a grilled Caesar salad, but I am a convert. They didn't grill it too much, just enough to add some smoky flavor to the lettuce. The thinly sliced radish was a nice element of spiciness, and the creaminess of the dressing tied everything together. Perfection. I liked Wisteria, I just didn't love Wisteria. This is very obviously an institution for the neighborhood. I enjoyed the ambiance of the restaurant and the staff were very friendly. It was a busy night so we had some hiccups with service. We were told we had to order entrees at the same time as our appetizers or they wouldn't put our apps in. If they require that, the pacing really needs to be on point. Unfortunately our entrees did show up before we were done with our appetizers and they took our apps before we were finished with them. The food itself was good but nothing very interesting. This is where you go for a solid steak or some fried calamari, heavily buttered sides, etc. For two of us with two drinks each, we were at ~$200 before tip. I just didn't feel like the value was quite there for the price point. I'd come back for an appetizer and glass of wine but probably not a full meal. read more

She gave wonderful recommendations as well as stellar service! What an absolute gem! This small, quaint restaurant blew us away. We came with a large group of 16, and from start to finish, the service was top-notch -- friendly, attentive, and perfectly timed. We started with the calamari, Gulf oysters, and crab cakes -- all out of this world. Every single entrée that hit the table was phenomenal -- from the trout and sea bass to the grouper, steak, and even the grits. We all shared bites around the table, and not one dish disappointed. Pretty little restaurant in Inman Park. Parking is no problem because they have free valet service (but please tip!). The old brick walls, spacious seating, and modern decor with white tablecloths and butcher paper are inviting. Service was prompt and friendly. Our visit to Wisteria left much to be desired. When we entered the restaurant for dinner, there were several empty tables. We ordered the watermelon salad as an appetizer with the grilled pork tenderloin and pan fried pecan crusted trout as the entrees. We also had two mocktails, which I don't see on their menu online. Our one comment on the mocktails was that they tasted as if they were missing something - alcohol. They tasted as if they needed the alcohol to be delicious, which defeats the purpose of a mocktail. I thought that my drink in particular was too sour and not very pleasant. The waiter was very kind. Mark took good care of us and gave solid recommendations. The pork tenderloin was something that was recommended and that was delicious. The pecan crusted trout wasn't recommended, but I was curious to try it. I mention the recommendations because it seemed like Wisteria is good at specific things on the menu, while there are other items that fall flat. The trout was a big disappointment. The pecans didn't really make a difference on the fish and you couldn't really taste it. The fish only really had flavor when paired with the sauce, which was on the sour side when eaten on its own. We would be willing to come back if some friends invited us to try Wisteria, but we would not be willing to experiment with their menu. The watermelon salad was tasty and refreshing, but wasn't anything spectacular or original. It was a refreshing appetizer to whet your appetite on a hot day. Overall, Wisteria definitely seems to be more bar focused than restaurant. I would recommend coming if you mainly want somewhere to chat with friends over drinks with food on the side. The only reason wisteria gets 3 stars is because of the quality of food. Staff needs to make dining an enjoyable experience instead of rushing tables through. This isn't Chili's , at over $100 per person our group should be able to enjoy our food at our pace not the servers. There are other restaurants that will be happy to take our $$. Just got back from one of the best (and most unexpected) meals of my life at Wisteria. Tucked away in a quiet area of Inman Park, this spot serves up southern cuisine with a modern twist. As a Californian, southern cuisine isn't always one of the first that comes to mind, but one look at their menu online and I was intrigued. We made a reservation for 6:30pm, and were able to be seated on their patio a bit early, around 6:15pm. Fall seems to be a great time of year for patio dining -- a light jacket, at most, is all you need. Our waiter, Marcel, was extremely welcoming and knowledgable about the menu. He made you feel well taken care of without being overbearing, and his wit and humor were an added bonus. Highly recommend starting with the corn fritters, brussels sprouts, and fried green tomatoes. I'm not kidding when I say these are the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had. The fritters were piping hot and moist inside -- no blank heat lamp fritters here. The bee pollen butter took the experience to the next level. I got the wild mushroom risotto as my entree. It was a real treat -- creamy, and with a delightful hint of truffle. You can't go wrong with this comfort dish. The mushrooms themselves were perfectly cooked, and provided a delicious, almost meat-like texture and flavor profile to the dish. Absolutely blown away. It did cure the craving I had acquired just hours before coming here. I love spicy drinks and while they don't have any on the menu, the bartender did go to the kitchen to find some jalapeños so that he could whip me up a spicy margarita. It was good too! We arrived at Wisteria at 5:30 for our reservation when they were just opening. The restaurant started to fill in pretty quickly. Our waitress gave us great recommendations and answered any questions we had. We started with the brussel sprouts and fried green tomatoes and they were great! My friend and I both ordered the diver scallops and it was amazing, honestly the star of the dish being the beans and saucy bits you get with it. My other friend ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was nice, a good meaty fish and the sauce tasted great with it. For dessert we had the key lime pie and the chocolate torte. Both were delicious. The service was great and the proportions were generous (or, at least reasonable in the case of dessert). They have a nice reasonably priced "house" wine list of bottle for only $30. The appetizers of deviled eggs, fried green tomatoes, and roasted brussel sprouts set our expectations high for the entrees. The entree plates were well put-together, but it felt as though the sides (e.g., veggies) that accompanied the main item (e.g., protein) were a bit of an afterthought. For example, the okra (roasted?) had a terrific flavor, but I was only able to eat one (of a generous several) because the rest were woody -- perhaps not cooked long enough or simply chosen too large. The trout and scallops were very tasty. All items were on the spendy side and it was a bit loud (not enough noise deadening efforts) -- and this was on a Wednesday and not crowded; I can't imagine how hard it would be to carry on a conversation on a Friday or Saturday night. It was a great time, but I'll choose somewhere else for my next birthday dinner. read more

Many people had to use their phone lights to read the menu...ha! We were seated at a round 4-top near the bar and had a view of the whole restaurant. Our server was good, a perfect blend of attentiveness and letting us chat. He had some personal recommendations on some of the dishes and even suggested substitutions. My wife got the scallops and he suggested the corn grits instead of the regular ones it came with. She loved it! I had the special for my entree. It was a pappardelle with a beef ragu sauce. The flavor was light as was the whole dish. It was a good sized portion and fairly priced at $26. For our appetizer, we also got the special, which was a carpaccio. We celebrated a friend's bday at Wisteria. It's a cute, warm, and inviting restaurant. The staff was very friendly. We had a large group of 12 and they did a great job managing our table. I had to glasses of the Malbec $10, fried green tomatoes $12, and the beef tenderloin $28. The tomatoes were good, and the beef was cooked perfectly. Wisteria is the kind of restaurant I imagine I'd own if I ever became a restaurateur--small enough to feel cozy, but big enough not to be claustrophobic. It's nestled in a charming, almost too-perfect neighborhood where you half expect someone to offer you a fresh-baked pie just for walking by. They've got a solid wine and spirits list, a friendly staff, and good food. Not the best food I've ever had in Atlanta, but good--sometimes even surprisingly so. Sure, I could hit Lyla Lila for something a bit fancier, something I'd pretend I could afford to make a habit of, but that's more of a "once in a blue moon" kind of deal. Wisteria, though--that's a go-to restaurant. It's dependable, satisfying, like an old sweater you wear too often because it just works. Yeah, maybe the fried chicken wasn't quite crispy enough, but the greens and cornbread (which they call a pudding) was perfect. I made a reservation ahead of time, but not really needed. Our server came over not long after we were seated. Gave us the run down on the menu. We ordered starters and a mocktail. Before we were able to finish our first round (food and drink still visible on the plate and in the cups), the server comes to collect our dishes (like actively reaches for our food). We had to tell him we weren't done. Again, the restaurant wasn't busy, but it took forever for us to receive our entrees. It was annoying because we ordered the veggie plate and flounder. Two meals I assumed would be relatively quick to make. Once our food was delivered our server disappeared. Never checked on us once to see what we needed. Such a disappointment. The food is good, but it's not that good for a return. And their water has a funny smell. I couldn't drink it. They should offer bottle water. If you're in the area and want something to eat, go for it. But honestly, there are some other, more casual spots, with better service in that area. read more

Wisteria is the best meal our family has had in a minute. We went on a Sunday night for an early dinner at 5pm. For apps we had the corn meal fritters with the brussels. I was particularly a fan of brussels. Not over or under crisped with great flavor. We did our meal family style with grouper, the scallops, the chicken and the meatballs (special for the night). The portions were hearty. The scallops were melt in your mouth and incredible and our fave dish of the night. Closely followed by the grouper and the chicken. The grouper came with grits which was a perfect pairing. The chicken was skillet fried and incredibly moist and served with collards and mushrooms. For dessert we had banana pudding (no artificial banana taste), bread pudding, flourless choc tarte, and carrot cake. My FIL reports the bread pudding is top 2 in his life! The desserts come in tiny sampler sizes good for sharing. Finally, we thought the service was excellent! Our server was knowledgable and food came out fast! Love! Valet parking was super easy, they had an extensive wine list and lots of mixed drinks as well. We got the Brussel sprouts as an appetizer which were AMAZING!
