Finally got to see their new location across the street and love all the upgrades! There's several cute spots to sit at and take photos in to make your post "insta-worthy". The staff was nice and quick, despite the small order counter. There's several menu boards throughout advertising a smorgasbord of options. I got the Salted Caramel Camel Barn, which was pretty good! I wish there was a bit more ice cream for the price, but a portion of that purchase goes toward charity, so understandable. The coffee flavored ones were also pretty good but you can def taste the coffee. It's definitely a place to visit when you're walking through Benicia. Will be back!
Really craving ice cream and we decided to take a drive to Benicia. This place is so cute ! They have little areas for some cute photo ops . I really liked how staff took their time to give you options if you're not sure what you want. I was torn between a Hawaiian shaved iice and a sundae but ultimately really wanted a Sundae. I wasn't feeling all the toppings that came with it but they offered me different choices to swap it out for . Staff is really friendly and I'm definitely coming back to try the Hawaiian shaved ice.
My kids and I like to come here for an ice cream before a walk every once in a while. They recently moved locations. They have really yummy ice cream, they also have sorbets as well as some vegan options. I really enjoy the ultra chocolate. I've also tried the bubblegum and rocky road. Their ice cream is really creamy. My oldest enjoys the green mint chip and my younger one likes their birthday cake. The staff is nice and the place is cute!
Double Rainbow has always been our favorite local ice cream spot. They just moved to a new location, not too far from where they were. However, I am unsure about the flow of their new location. Only one of the two doors are open/being used. The line to order ice cream is really awkward. It's so compact and I felt like being in line, I was in the way of those who were done paying for their ice cream and were trying to find a way out. Other than their new location always loved that they served Gunther's ice cream and the plethora of desert options they have, including milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream sandwich, banana splits, and more.
There are very few ice cream shops in the Bay Area as cute and colorful as Double Rainbow Cafe. Not only do they have delicious ice cream and other treats, but this place is cute as a button. The owners, who also own Majestic Cafe as well as Rainbow Froyo, are great at creating the most family friendly atmosphere to their establishments. They care about giving back to the community by setting up toy donation bins for Christmas and will give you a discount if you do. There is really nothing I love more in supporting a local business than seeing one that is so supportive to others. The ice cream here is great! Double Rainbow ice cream is local to the Bay Area and there are other establishments that sell it, but it is always creamy and delicious. I tried a few of the seasonal flavors like the gingerbread and the peppermint candy cane. I love holiday flavors! My wife had an ice cream sandwich that was quite unique with brioche bread, ice cream and toppings, and then it is pressed in a panini machine. It's very good! We sat at a table with ice cream chairs while Christmas music played. It's the perfect setting for good times with your family!
We went to Double Rainbow twice over our weekend stay in Benicia. The service was friendly on both visits and the store is very clean and fun. It's got a great vibe with ice cream decor that you can sit on to enjoy your ice cream and they also have a double rainbow light and art on the walls plus a train track wrapping around the top of the wall in the main sitting room. I don't know if the train works but we hope it does. There were many flavors to choose from and pretty looking sundaes. We enjoyed our ice creams and sherbets.

Very solid ice cream spot with uniquely decorated space. Second time coming here and the ice cream choices aren't anything special but the quality of their ice cream is really good. I normally don't like birthday cake ice cream but this one was different. They used real cake in the ice cream. Dine-in experience is unique and very kid friendly. I highly recommend trying to this place when around the area.
Solid, cutesy, ice cream parlor. Food: They had the regular stuff and some specialties, such as their fruit freezes and grilled ice cream sandwich. The fruit freeze was really good. I didn't have the ice cream sandwich, but it looked delicious and I'm definitely trying that next time. Service: Service was solid. There was a pretty long line, and they were able to get everyone through fairly quickly. Ambiance: Definitely kid friendly. I don't know if I would go here if it was just me. But if you have kids, they'll love it. There's a lot of cool ice cream decorated seating and places to take pictures. Verdict: Take your kids here, they'll get a kick out of it.
Greeted upon arrival. Clean shop with cute seatings and tables. Lots of fun seasonal flavors for their ice cream and even a midnight vanilla cone that was black. I got thr almond joy while hubby got the taro.
We came and took our Granddaughter here for a scoop of Ice Cream located in Benicia, CA. The place is nice and clean and very kid friendly. The layout is nice and service was great. She ate her ice in cream there while being excited about the table and seats that appeared to look like a Sundae or Banana Split and ice cream. She very much enjoyed this place.
I like walking my dogs in benicia. This place is on our route! I appreciate this place because they have White pistachio flavored ice cream. They also serve gunthers. They have waffle cones that are different flavors like lavender, red velvet, and birthday cake. They have seats inside that are in the shape of ice cream and cones. Service is friendly and efficient. great location on the main street.
Stopped by for the first time while walking down 1st Street and was pleasantly surprised. We were curious about the flavor selection and ended up trying two--both were great. The place is clean, well-organized, and packed with a wide variety of ice cream flavors. The staff was friendly and offered samples, which helped us decide. Even with a line, service was quick and efficient. I'll definitely be coming back!

I love this place! The ice cream is delicious, the decor is adorable, and the people who work there are really special. When you meet the owners you understand why. Brandon and Alicia are the kindest, most wonderful people. You really feel good supporting their business. They make a big impact on the down town vibe. It's one of the only really kid friendly businesses down town and that really matters to me. My daughter is autistic and we need places like this where we feel comfortable. Every time my family and I are in downtown Benicia, we go here for dessert. Friendly people and good selection of ice cream. My go to is rocky road and coffee blast. They also have Gunther's fruit freeze which I will have to get because the only other place you can get it is in Sacramento. read more

This ice cream is very popular here in Benicia, so we tried a small one. It was not that sweet. I love the flavor and the chunk of peanut butter. It was so so so good. This place is so cute! I had walked by a few different times when I've come in this area to eat, but never felt inclined to stop for ice cream. Well, I finally decided to stop and I'm so happy i did! The decor is super cute, bright, clean, just as an ice cream parlor should be lol but the staff were SO friendly and helpful and gave great recommendations. I absolutely love lavender flavor and when I saw the very purple lavender sugar cone and they confirmed it had lavender buds baked in and actually tasted like lavender, I was sold! The establishment is adorable! It's beautifully decorated with Halloween fixtures along with its normal appearance. The staff is super friendly and quick with their services. I had the Jack-O-London which is one of their limited time flavors for the Halloween season. It is jam packed with pumpkin flavor, whipped cream and graham cracker bits to give you that authentic pumpkin pie taste in ice cream form. 10/10 recommend. read more

Double Rainbow is such a cute little ice cream shop. It can get pretty busy on the weekends, and you might see a line out the door, but they keep things moving quickly and they're always smiling. My non-ice cream-loving husband enjoys the slushies and my favorite is the milkshakes so we can walk around. My daughter loves the flavored ice cream cones. Best enjoyed while taking in the views on a bench by the waterfront a couple blocks away. read more

Always busy dessert spot in Benicia. I don't think I have ever come here when it wasn't busy. They have a variety of options from ice cream, shaved ice, smoothies and more. They even have fresh mini donuts on the weekend. I have tried their donuts before and they were good when eaten fresh. They have colored waffle cones of different flavors as well. Visited around 7:30pm and there was a long line. Good sign! We didn't wait long to order at all. I tried their seasonal flavor, salted maple praline something. I didn't get much of the salt but it tasted just like pralines and cream. It was delicious, and did not disappoint. I would definitely return as they have more than just ice cream! Amazing staff with cool ice cream furniture decor. The kids ordered the colorful cones with their favorite ice cream flavors. My son had the blue corn cone with vanilla ice cream. Personally I was shocked with the over-sweetened vanilla ice cream. I am highly sensitive with the sugar overload. My son couldn't eat another spoon of his ice cream. My daughter ordered the matcha cone with rocky road. She finished hers without problem. When I tasted the matcha cone, it tasted stale. I was hoping to get a fresh taste of matcha followed with a nice crunchy texture from the cone. However the cone was just green without a hint of match flavor. I would probably visit this place again if they improve the balance of sugar and ice cream flavoring. read more

Kids absolutely loved this cute shop! The ice cream cone chairs made it a fun experience. My oldest was super excited that they had shaved ice and he got half Tigers Blood and half blue raspberry. I bought the regular size is pretty big and it skews then $4, which is sooo appreciated. My son was so excited to eat it! As soon as we sat outside and got to the tables, the whole mountain of ice somehow jolted to the floor and luckily the staff were able to hook him up with more. Thanks team! This location also sells donuts on certain hours and they have milkshakes and ice cream sandwiches if you need more variety. For the holidays, they have a rainbow Christmas tree on display with information to donate towards a toy drive. The vibe inside is very fun, and small town ice cream parlor. It was such a nice day in the bay to walk along First street and grab a treat --- route is a must when you're visiting Benicia! read more
Man, I don't know what else to say aside from that this place has some yummy sweets! As you walk in, you can see the store's accolades on the wall, and they definitely deserve it! They serve an assortment of treats, from ice cream, to coffee, to donuts. I went here twice in recent months, and ordered the Refinery drink, and some salted caramel ice cream. The Refinery is a flavor explosion! French Vanilla ice cream with chocolate and some other trimmings. It's just an amazing drink, and you should definitely try it! The salted caramel ice cream was awesome as well! Not too sweet, but just right. I'd definitely get it again as well. Social distancing is observed here, and the service is always great. Such a cute place downtown Benicia! And I love that they have something non dairy! Love getting the soy berry cherry! It reminds me of Ben & Jerry's Cherry Garcia (of course that's richer and more flavorful) but this to me is soo good and delicious, it's a very close second especially considering this is soy. Have gotten this a few times this summer and have crossed that bridge, paid the toll just to come here to satisfy my craving especially on a very hot day! The young people who work here are also super friendly and sweet and have great customer service. I appreciate it. I have to review my favorite ice cream shop on National Ice Cream Day! Double Rainbow has the most colorful and welcoming vibes..you can even spot them from a few blocks away. If you are in the area in AM, stop in for local coffee and their mini doughnuts- my favorite are the cinnamon sugar On a hot day, make sure to stop by for ice cream or like me, a shaved iced (cherry/pineapple please!) or nondairy bubble tea (I get almond with cherry jelly hearts). Supporting local businesses! Took a stroll downtown and looking for a dessert spot. Cute little shop with plenty to offer. The decor is all ice cream related with ice cream chairs and a large siting area that is a huge ice cream sundae. Daughters got the Uni-Cone which was a mix of taro and bubble gum ice cream and 2 tiny cones and tiny marshmallows. So good, they loved it! I got a scoop of the white pistachio and husband got a scoop of snickerdoodle. Total cost about $16. Friendly staff and great service. Social distancing is enforced. You wait outside until you're called in as they serve 1 customer at a time. They do allow indoor seating but there's plenty of sitting areas outside. Enter in one way and exit out another. Staff also wear gloves. Will be coming back. read more
