This little ice cream shop is so cute!!! Took the kids here after a nice bike ride at the state park. They only allow 1 party to order at a time, shop is clean, friendly staff, and of course yummy ice cream! They have a lot of flavors to choose from. Would definitely come back. read more

I was in the area and was looking for a quick caffiene fix. I had noticed signage advertising Mini Doughnuts, and it piqued my interest. The location shares the Ice cream shop of Double Rainbow, and the doughnut shop is locsted inside. They had mini customs doughnuts and of course, Ice cream. I had seen they were putting together a mini dozen to go cases. They are starting to delivery their doughnuts to locals Friday to Saturday. I had ordered a Mocha and bought a small 6 pack. Their doughnuts looks customized and you can order at least by how many you want. I liked that they were small and they had a lot of Christmas inspired flavors. Mocha was perfect and I took a short jaunt to the water to enjoy my breakfast. Defintely will stop by next time I'm in the area. read more

Okay this was the most amazing ice cream shop experience i've ever had... The employee was so sweet and helpful to us. The inside decor is so cute and very clean and organized. The ice cream flavors are other worldly and DON'T get me started on their cones?! The lavender cone was so good I could cry. I ordered one scoop of half coffee blast and half lychee nut, it was the most delicious ice cream ever. I love this place, they even have donuts on weekends with selected hours and bubble tea! This has become our go to ice cream spot since Baskin Robbins closed in Benicia. I wish we would have tried it even sooner! The staff are very nice and good at their jobs. Tried it today! Didn't get to taste the donuts because they serve them at a certain time. That sucked ! But my mocha latte was actually sweet to my liking . Better than most places that specialize in coffee. I loved the young lady with the glasses who rung me up today. Lots of personality. Really nice and down to earth. Cant complain about this place besides donuts not being available. I will be back. Maybe go back in the morning and double back for the donut! I had the donuts I loved them!!!! I even ate them cold! A very nice ice cream shop in downtown Benicia. In addition to ice cream, they have coffee drinks, cookies, deserts, sandwiches and snowcones. They have about 20 or so flavors. The two I tasted were very good. The service and is friendly and efficient. Staff does a nice job of welcoming and helping the customers. read more

We love walking here and getting Ice cream. For tourists, it's a must stop stop. I had to come on here and give a great review when we witnessed the owners doing the nicest thing for some customers who's card was declined. Their rating right now is 3.5 stars shockingly. I wonder if it's due to poor service from precious owners. Do not skip this spot based on reviews. Side note, they are very conscious of the social distancing guidelines which is great! :) read more

The cutest ice cream shop right off of 1st Street in the cute town of Benicia. There are not many Double Rainbow ice cream shops in our area, so we were surprised to find this one. This shop is so much nicer than most of the other places we have been to. Not only is it clean, but their staff is very friendly and they have the cutest decor. They have a chair and table shaped like ice cream cones. This location also sells freshly made mini donuts but only earlier in the day. This was our second time here and we were lucky enough to get there just as they stopped serving the donuts, but they had extras made. My kids got their normal ice cream cones and I got an assortment of mini donuts that includes the following flavors: unicorn, s'more, fruity pebbles and sprinkles. I tried my kids' ice cream and they were delicious. The donuts remind me of the mini donuts you can get at the pier in San Francisco. However, Double Rainbow adds toppings which makes it even better. Both times we came they were not busy and the staff was very patient as my kids decided which flavors they wanted. I know my kids will always want to pass by here when we are in the area, but I don't mind since this location is a little gem. read more

This is a cute and vibrant ice cream parlor in Benicia. There are many options, not just ice cream. I must come back to try more flavors! I visited two months ago, around 7pm. There was line when I arrived with a friend. You can ask to sample some flavors. Ultimately, I ordered The Uni-cone. If you love bubblegum or taro ice cream, try it. read more

We visited this sweet spot on a whim because we saw their milk tea menu and wanted to try their lavender milk tea with lychee. It was so good we came later that evening for another round. This is such a cute job. I thought I was walking in for just ice cream in a cone and cup, however they have so many options to choose from! We come to Benicia's first street often and we weralways adamant on trying double rainbows ice cream for whatever reason. I'm glad we did because we fasho enjoyed our first visit here. We came around 4pmish and it wasn't busy; there were a couple guests inside. We got to try most of their ice cream/sorbet flavors and couldn't decide which one to get. They were all surprisingly delicious! The inside was clean and colorful. I couldn't help but notice the beautiful mural on the wall ( definitely a good spot to take a picture with or of your ice cream). We had a double scoop of soy mint chocolate chip and mango sorbet. Both flavors surprisingly went very well together. Super tasty, smooth, and flavorful. Service: there were two employees in the front. I was shocked to see one of the girls pick up a sample spoon and sample a flavor right in front of us. Pretty unprofessional and gross in my opinion. She probably thought it was okay because we are around their age group. They were friendly otherwise and gave a generous portion of each flavor. I like how they offer other products like bubble tea, shaved ice, and hot foods. Parking is usually difficult to find on the weekends but shouldn't be a problem on the weekdays, especially Monday. Anywhoo: do I recommend double rainbow cafe? Answer, hells yes. #FinallyELITE UPDATE 10/23/19: we got here around 1810 and there is only one person scooping the ice cream, making the shakes, shaved ice etc. very, very understaffed. The line has reached 6+ guests. The worker is however doing an exceptional job serving guests and trying to get things out quickly- this update is strictly for management to see. read more

We asked someone, whom I believe was the owner, if they had any sugar free flavors. He informed us that they only had sugar free vanilla, which was perfectly okay with us. A cute little ice cream shop and cafe located in Downtown Benicia that serves ice cream, snow cones, cake by the slice, and other sweet treats. My sweet tooth ended up taking a friend and I here after eating at a restaurant nearby. There was plenty of street parking around and the place was pretty empty when we entered, but quickly started to fill up after we sat down. The shop was extremely clean and very spacious with a few tables located both indoors and outdoors. I went with a simple scoop of buttered pecan in a cup and I can't recall what my friend had, but he also got his scoop in a cup. We were still full, so we just wanted something light. My eyes got big just looking at all of the goodies in the glass case. Cheesecake and cake slices, brownies, cookies... I can see how someone could easily go cray in a place like this! The cashier and his fellow coworker looked like they were both still in high school. They were equally pleasant and I love seeing young people working efficiently. Speaking of high school, a gang of high school kids came in for their sweet treat fix right after we sat down. It got pretty crowded and very quick. This seems like the hangout spot for the local youngins. I would gladly stop by again to try out their cakes by the slice or snow cone the next time that I'm in the area. read more

This little shop is the cutest!! It reminds of me those small old school ice cream shops. My daughter got the Hawaiian shaved ice and loved it but it was huge! So if definitely shareable for 2-3 kids. They had really good flavors of ice cream. The white pistachio and matcha green tea was my favorites! As someone with severe allergies, I was relieved when the federal government mandated that all food products list which of the top five allergens it includes, if any. I've never been to an ice cream shop that couldn't find out if there was wheat in a flavor of ice cream. So, when I got to the front of the line and asked the server if they could verify whether two flavors had wheat in them, she looked me in the eye and said with finality "I'm not able to do that." Which surprised me. Two minutes later I saw that right behind her a gallon of ice cream was waiting to be put into their serving freezer. Ingredients right on the outside label. By the way, the woman who wouldn't even try to help me? One of the owners. Thanks, but I'd rather order from a place that at least pretends to care about the customer. I'm off to Baskin Robbins from now on. read more

Well...it happened again. The ice cream was so soft that it immediately began dripping down the sides of the cone and all over my hands. Pretty embarrassing since someone stopped to chat with me and kept looking at the mess I was dealing with. I'm pretty sure the management just needs to increase the coldness of their ice cream cooler. On a sunny and warm day, first days since we arrived almost a month ago, we ordered 3 rainbow shave ice and a strawberry with ice cream! Must say it was pretty comparable to our Hawaiian shave ice! Will come back again when visiting family in the Vallejo/Benicia area! As a side note, a family member forgot his phone on a bench outside and only remembered it when he got home. Meet the Business Owner: Brandon B.

Brandon is excited to be the new owner of Double Rainbow Cafe! After living in Benicia for the past 5 years, he decided to quit his job in tech and start The Dapper Doughnut - Benicia to be a part of the local business community. In fact, you might've seen his mini doughnut booth at local farmers markets! After forming plans to set up a new doughnut cart inside Double Rainbow Cafe, Brandon was given the opportunity to take over the store entirely. He couldn't pass up such an amazing opportunity to own a Benicia staple and be a part of the amazing downtown business community. He looks forward to continuing Double Rainbow Cafe's legacy and bringing joy to everyone who visits!

They make great personalized, dessert "favors" for birthday parties, graduations, and more. We pass them out for friends and family to enjoy at home - after the party. We also used them to pass out to friends at church. I've tried many of their flavors, but my favorite is Chocolate Crinkle. It's moist like a brownie, and yummy too. I love how they're not too sweet. I came here a few times when I was working in the area. On another visit, I got the focaccia salami sandwich. Both sandwiches were excellent. I also got a few pastries to go like a lemon meringue tart and a chocolate/ hazelnut torte. I also bought a few other breads to take home to my family. I honestly was pleased with everything I've gotten from there. I'm blessed with some pretty great bakeries where I live, but this is a place that you would wish is close to you as well.

This is a place with a lot of heart for their community. The frozen yogurt itself is very good and the options for toppings is excellent! Almost everything you can imagine topping your FroYo with. I went for seasonal flavors (pumpkin spice), but I sampled several other flavors too. The owners were there that day and I had some lovely conversation with them!
