Really craving ice cream and we decided to take a drive to Benicia. This place is so cute ! They have little areas for some cute photo ops . I really liked how staff took their time to give you options if you're not sure what you want. I was torn between a Hawaiian shaved iice and a sundae but ultimately really wanted a Sundae. I wasn't feeling all the toppings that came with it but they offered me different choices to swap it out for . Staff is really friendly and I'm definitely coming back to try the Hawaiian shaved ice.
My kids and I like to come here for an ice cream before a walk every once in a while. They recently moved locations. They have really yummy ice cream, they also have sorbets as well as some vegan options. I really enjoy the ultra chocolate. I've also tried the bubblegum and rocky road. Their ice cream is really creamy. My oldest enjoys the green mint chip and my younger one likes their birthday cake. The staff is nice and the place is cute!
Double Rainbow has always been our favorite local ice cream spot. They just moved to a new location, not too far from where they were. However, I am unsure about the flow of their new location. Only one of the two doors are open/being used. The line to order ice cream is really awkward. It's so compact and I felt like being in line, I was in the way of those who were done paying for their ice cream and were trying to find a way out. Other than their new location always loved that they served Gunther's ice cream and the plethora of desert options they have, including milkshakes, smoothies, ice cream sandwich, banana splits, and more.
There are very few ice cream shops in the Bay Area as cute and colorful as Double Rainbow Cafe. Not only do they have delicious ice cream and other treats, but this place is cute as a button. The owners, who also own Majestic Cafe as well as Rainbow Froyo, are great at creating the most family friendly atmosphere to their establishments. They care about giving back to the community by setting up toy donation bins for Christmas and will give you a discount if you do. There is really nothing I love more in supporting a local business than seeing one that is so supportive to others. The ice cream here is great! Double Rainbow ice cream is local to the Bay Area and there are other establishments that sell it, but it is always creamy and delicious. I tried a few of the seasonal flavors like the gingerbread and the peppermint candy cane. I love holiday flavors! My wife had an ice cream sandwich that was quite unique with brioche bread, ice cream and toppings, and then it is pressed in a panini machine. It's very good! We sat at a table with ice cream chairs while Christmas music played. It's the perfect setting for good times with your family!
We went to Double Rainbow twice over our weekend stay in Benicia. The service was friendly on both visits and the store is very clean and fun. It's got a great vibe with ice cream decor that you can sit on to enjoy your ice cream and they also have a double rainbow light and art on the walls plus a train track wrapping around the top of the wall in the main sitting room. I don't know if the train works but we hope it does. There were many flavors to choose from and pretty looking sundaes. We enjoyed our ice creams and sherbets.

Very solid ice cream spot with uniquely decorated space. Second time coming here and the ice cream choices aren't anything special but the quality of their ice cream is really good. I normally don't like birthday cake ice cream but this one was different. They used real cake in the ice cream. Dine-in experience is unique and very kid friendly. I highly recommend trying to this place when around the area.

I didn't have the ice cream sandwich, but it looked delicious and I'm definitely trying that next time. Service: Service was solid. There was a pretty long line, and they were able to get everyone through fairly quickly. Ambiance: Definitely kid friendly. I don't know if I would go here if it was just me. But if you have kids, they'll love it. There's a lot of cool ice cream decorated seating and places to take pictures. Verdict: Take your kids here, they'll get a kick out of it.

The place is clean, well-organized, and packed with a wide variety of ice cream flavors. The staff was friendly and offered samples, which helped us decide. A Benicia staple for dessert! The decor inside was very colorful and cute! If the right food influencer found it I think it could be a viral hit online. Double Rainbow Cafe offers a lot of dessert beyond ice cream. We had trouble deciding but ultimately chose the pumpkin ice cream in a black vanilla cone and the grilled smores ice cream sandwich. They also had a variety of coffee desserts. I was tempted by the tiramisu drink. The desserts were very sweet. The grilled s'mores was made to order. The brioche was very soft. It took a couple bites to get some of the chocolate. Then it did taste like a s'mores! I like how they have an ongoing monthly fundraiser. Certain desserts will have 15% of the proceeds go to a local cause. I was quite amused by the written description of one of them. It was something along the lines of ""The Evil Landlord". We'll likely be coming back at some point if we are craving dessert in the evening before they close at 9pm.
I recently enjoyed some ice cream at Double Rainbow Cafe while in the area to hang out at the pier nearby. The decor of this shop was very cute: tables and chairs that were ice cream shaped, a rainbow selfie wall, and ice cream mural. The staff were friendly. There wasn't much of a wait to order ice cream. I decided on one scoop of butter pecan in a waffle bowl. Yum! The waffle bowl was served on top of a paper bowl. I sat at one of the tables by the window and enjoyed my treat. Double Rainbow Cafe is located in downtown Benicia on the corner of E and 1st Streets. There's a sign outside displaying all of their ice cream flavors that they serve. I definitely would come back the next time I'm in the area. read more

Finally got to see their new location across the street and love all the upgrades! There's several cute spots to sit at and take photos in to make your post "insta-worthy". The staff was nice and quick, despite the small order counter. There's several menu boards throughout advertising a smorgasbord of options. I got the Salted Caramel Camel Barn, which was pretty good! I wish there was a bit more ice cream for the price, but a portion of that purchase goes toward charity, so understandable. The coffee flavored ones were also pretty good but you can def taste the coffee. It's definitely a place to visit when you're walking through Benicia. Will be back! read more

Whenever I am in Benicia near the waterfront, I am always at Double Rainbow Cafe. Their ice cream is amazing.I love the service the place has when it gets crowded with people wanting their ice cream. They apologize for the long wait when it is crowded. Parking is easy to find nearby. I love the inside of the place where there is a good view of the street. Simple next door ice cream shop with plenty of flavors. My favorites are taro ice cream on top of the real guava fruit freeze. Fantastic and refreshing tropical flavors. Today they are almost out of guava so I got strawberry fruit freeze instead topped with taro ice cream. I find that combining a scoop of ice cream plus a scoop of fruit freeze balances the creaminess of the ice cream and makes it a super refreshing treat! read more

I've been coming here since I was a kid myself and now I take my own children and it's such a sweet treat and a nice experience for us every time! The customer service was excellent and they were very patient with my little ones, I always end up getting a milkshake but they have so many delicious ice cream flavors and different flavor waffle cones! I've been to this place a few times now. It's in a great location. They have ice cream and coffee, so you can't go wrong. The staff is nice and helpful if you have trouble deciding what to order. The decor is fun and bright. They have a few tables with chairs. But I usually see folks take their orders and go on a walk. The views are beautiful outside. This is pretty much my go-to ice cream shop on this main street. read more

Double rainbow has so much to offer. Everyone can come and get something off the menu. I of course love your traditional ice cream and call me boring, but i love me some mint chocolate chip. Service is friendly with some street parking. It can get busy here on a warm day, but the line does move. There is indoor seating and some outdoor ones. Colorful dessert spot in Benicia! It's one of the ice cream shops that's open late in Benicia/Vallejo. Service is great and tons of variety. My nephew wanted shaved ice, so we stopped by here and my parents wanted coffee so we were able to get both in one stop! So many options to choose from. I've ordered mini donuts previously and loved it. Not sure if it's still sold. Came in recently and ordered a specialty Sunday which was a scoop of mint ice cream, Rocky road, whipped cream and sprinkles with an added gummy worm. Definitely overpriced for what it was so probably won't get that again. Gummy worm was also a bit hard. Service was quick. Clean indoor seating and some outdoor seating available as well. read more

I love this place! The ice cream is delicious, the decor is adorable, and the people who work there are really special. When you meet the owners you understand why. Brandon and Alicia are the kindest, most wonderful people. You really feel good supporting their business. They make a big impact on the down town vibe. It's one of the only really kid friendly businesses down town and that really matters to me. My daughter is autistic and we need places like this where we feel comfortable.
