We came here for our anniversary dinner and were seated immediately on a Friday evening without a…read morereservation. First off, we loved the ambiance of this restaurant. I personally prefer the "patio" seating, which is covered/shaded, but it's so pretty when they pull the drapes up and you can look outside. This was our first time at 1933 Lounge. We are snobs when it comes to steaks and the way they are cooked. However, we were blown away at how good our steaks were. Each bite was perfectly seasoned, tender, and just melts in your mouth! I believe we ordered the USDA Prime Strip Steak and the Bone-in Dry Aged Ribeye with the Bearnaise sauce, but I feel like you can't go wrong with any of the steaks on their menu when it's cooked with such precision. Our server was very attentive and knowledgeable about all items on the menu. Per his recommendation, we ordered the St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail with their spicy, signature cocktail sauce and the Crème Corn Brulee. For starters, the Crème Corn Brulee was unlike anything we've ever tried. The crunchy, caramelized top coat and sweetness of the corn went so well with our savory steaks. It's an absolute MUST-TRY!!! But back to the St. Elmo Shrimp Cocktail. WHY would you not warn people that the spicy signature sauce consists of freshly grated horseradish? We took the biggest freaking bite of the shrimp with a heaping amount of sauce and just about died. I didn't know what to do with myself in that moment. My eyes were watering and my nasal passages felt like they were burning off. The saltine crackers definitely helped, but I was questioning every life decision in that moment. If you are a first-timer, PLEASE order the sauce on the side. DON'T BE LIKE ME AND GO IN BLINDLY FOR A LARGE BITE! There should be a warning label on the menu lol. It took me a few minutes to recover. Lastly, the lobster bisque was divine. Espresso martini was 10/10. I think we will be back in the future, but next time we will skip on the St. Elmo Shrimp cocktail.

Our server, Justin, was attentive and helpful throughout the evening. My partner asked for wine pairing recommendations, and Justin suggested a Pinot Noir that paired well with the meal. I ordered the Lemon Drop Cocktail, which was refreshing and enjoyable. The food was excellent. I ordered the Steak Frites, and my partner ordered the Duck A L'Orange. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the duck breast was tender and flavorful. We also shared the lavender and wild berry cheesecake for dessert. It was a unique offering--the flavors were interesting, although it wasn't my personal favorite. My partner, however, enjoyed it quite a bit. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and elegant. My only complaint was the temperature inside the dining room. We dined indoors on a Saturday evening in mid-July when it was around 90 degrees outside, and the restaurant felt unusually warm and stuffy. I suspect there may have been an issue with the HVAC system, as there seemed to be very little air circulation. My partner was sweating throughout dinner. I'm usually someone who gets cold easily at restaurants and often brings a cardigan, so the fact that I found the temperature uncomfortable was surprising. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would happily return, assuming the HVAC issue has been resolved.

Just not my thing unless steak is tender. This was a little bit tough for me still. 3. Homemade ketchup was too sweet and runny. Didn't have much of a tomato flavor. 4. Duck a l'orange - is the signature dish but it was overcooked. It actually tastes gamier and didn't have a great texture. Proper duck breast is to be medium rare to medium, but I know we're in central Indiana. 5. Steak frites - steak was cooked well but had a burnt crust to it. Made it bitter. It really lacked basic salt and pepper. The sauce was also lacking in flavor. But the frites and aioli were good. 6. Wine- decent selection. The Bordeaux wasn't good but my husband's rose was decent. Service - our server was attentive as he could be was unfortunately spread too thin and was covering both sides of the dining room. Service at times took longer than anticipated. We had croquettes, empanadas, patatas, calamari, shrimp, meatballs, and lots of other things that I forget. None of it stood out. It all tasted like heavy, greasy mess. My baile was great! We shared a Wedge Salad, which was one of the best wedge salads that I've ever had. The lettuce was light and topped with bacon and crispy onion rings. The blue cheese dressing was rich and cheesy. I had the Chophouse Wagyu Burger which is amazingly juicy with a jalapeno bacon jam that gives the burger a bit of heat. I loved the burger. The fries were also noteworthy - fresh cut, crispy and served with the restaurant's own steak sauce. Yum! Anthony's is a perfect date night spot. We'll be back soon! Kayla also did a great job explaining all of the dishes and what were the most popular. She said a lot of people love the honey glazed seabass, blackened grouper, and the pecan crusted halibut. I ordered the blackened seabass and loved it! All of the food looked delicious and had such great flavor. I ordered the coconut key lime pie to go but ended up eating most of it before we even left the restaurant. The toasted coconut on top gave it this crunch that was to die for! Went tonight after a production at the Booth Tarkington and was really looking forward to relaxing…read morewith an apertif in a cozy setting. We went for a 3:00 show on a Sunday such that by the time we got out, it was 6:00-still early. It was in the 30's outside and already dark (thanks DLS time). Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.

Our server somehow navigated his crazy, chaotic section with ease, making sure to check on us multiple times. I think I just had bad luck with what I ordered, because everyone else's food looked or tasted much better than mine! I got the Crack Dip, and some boneless wings with the dry goat rub (was recommended). The crack dip came with chicharrones, which was interesting. It tasted...fine. Just kinda bland with not much going for so it, other than being cream cheesey. Unfortunately the chicharrones did not really add much to the experience. My boneless wings were also the same... Fine. Kinda bland. The dry rub doesn't actually stick to the breading, so it was just plain chunks of breaded chicken tenders with a little pile of seasoning sitting in the bottom of the basket. My friends food however, was actually pretty tasty! The bone-in wings with chili garlic honey sauce were zesty and juicy. Two others ordered burgers, which were decently sized and were rated as delicious. Another friend got the thai chicken lettuce wraps, which the sauces were very tasty with. The sidewinder fries are very big and seasoned well. I would come again and try something different, I just I just got unlucky with my picks.

Especially since we had a long drawn out conversation about her inability to change the alcohol type in one of our drinks because it's premixed, you'd think she would remember. Sadly, no. We should have left then but were there for a watch party. So we ended up reordering and paying again for the missing drink. We moved to a different area of the bar and still experienced subpar service. Nearly every staff member in this place had the look on their faces like everyone was an inconvenience to them. Not one smile. Very limited interaction. And overall, extremely poor customer service. I would not recommend! I fully accept that this is a safe space for bourbon people and whiskey people. (I know: Bourbon is a type of whiskey! Just go with me here.) They have a literal wall of bourbon at The Broken Barrel. Pro tip: Look at the menu and see what they offer, but then walk up to the bar and look at the wall of whiskey and bourbon, and see what they have available that day. What they have available and what's on the menu can vary. You might see some goodies on the wall that aren't listed on the menu. If I'm not drinking wine, then I'm drinking gin. Luckily for me, there was a gin drink on the menu, so I got that: The New Gatsby, which is Hendrick's gin, St. Germain, cherry and lime, served in a tall glass with lots of ice. It was refreshing, but I kind of wish it had more gin in it! It was very sweet and light, and the perfect beverage for someone who likes light, sweet drinks. A dirty martini was also ordered, which is vodka, olive juice and bleu-cheese-stuffed olives. They make a dang good dirty martini here!
