They never disappoint! My honey and I love Indy areas pork tenderloins. We've tried quite a few and come back to Dooley O'Toole's in Carmel on Carmel Dr., as our favorite. Tonight I called in an order on my way home, as we have projects to finish at home. Within 3 minutes of my arrival, energetic Devon had it ready to go! And boy was it delish..so tender and flavorful! Wish we would have thought to take a pic to share..it hung over the plate. I will get 2 more meals out of mine. Hubby devoured all of his. I had to call them and sing our praises and compliment the chef. We will return! Keep serving the yummy food. read more

Great food and I like the way everything is fried but they're not open on the weekends what the hell is that

Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich, in my opinion one of the many wonders of traveling is finding and trying the local favorites. I cannot believe this sandwich is not being offered in in farm to table boutique restaurants back home. So darn tasty and fun read more

Dooley O'Toole's - Indiana pork tenderloin sandwich, in my opinion one of the many wonders of traveling is finding and trying the local favorites. - American Near Me - Carmel, Indiana

This place is a Carmel staple. It has weird hours, it's only open until 9p and it's not open on weekends! So weird. It's very popular with the olds, and we decided to finally try it out. The chicken velvet soup is mentioned in most of the reviews here for a reason, it's delicious! We also got the soup of the day, which was a horseradish tomato bisque, which I enjoyed a lot. We also ordered the fried mushrooms, which were fine but the nice fried coating of the mushrooms gets soggy after being topped with melted cheese. For entrees we got the meatloaf and the sautéed chicken. Both very flavorful, although needed salt. For sure. Nothing special about the baked potato but the rice pilaf was very nice, as was the cole slaw which had an unexpected poppyseed dressing. We plan to try the tenderloin and a burger when we go back. read more

I've been ordering like twice a week since this pandemic and I called up today and they told me if I wanted extra pickles that would be 50 Cent's a pickle extra you know extra pickles is all I get on my sandwich nothing else tenderloin and pickles and now they want to charge me an extra two or three bucks to get the amount of pickles I want they won't be saying any of my business again hope you don't want anything extra on yours cuz you'll have to pay read more

Great place, Great Food, Great atmosphere, Great staff. I really don't have anything bad to say about Dooley's. Their prices are more than fair relative to other comparable restaurants, and they have great daily lunch specials. It's also the only place near where I work that I can watch the World Cup games during my lunch, but it's not a "sports bar" either. (there are only a few tv's, and the audio is muted on all of them in favor of well selected music) read more

Our first time. Reading the other reviews some where complaining about the decor. It is a bit out dated. However very clean and up kept. Food was outstanding. Clam chowder was good and chunky with clams and not salty. Some of the best I have had in the midwest. The grilled meatloaf was also juicy and the sides were a good portion. Service was good no complaints. We will be back in the future. A good family owned business. read more

Stopped here on vacation and thought it was one of the best eating experiences of our family trip. All the staff were friendly, accommodating, and went out do the way to make sure we have everything we needed. We were offered samples of the soups which were great! Had the fried chicken and it was fantastic. The atmosphere took me back to the 90's and made me feel super nostalgic. Loved this place. Would recommend! read more

Really stuck in the 70's---I am afraid. We could overlook it if there had been a VERY friendly hostess (instead of a terribly unfriendly one)............nice enough waiter (but droopy jeans and a blah t-shirt....how about something a little more chic ? A collared Polo shirt and a little more spiffy ??). Hand pounded Tenderloin but overcooked...and overcooked fries. When we went to leave....hostess (again !) was just too busy to acknowledge our presence and say goodbye. The little details are really EVERYTHING ! We can live with the dated 70s theme......etc etc.........but we really would like to be treated well. read more

Best tenderloin ever and great service with a smile!!! Highly recommend you try them if you haven't already!!! Great soups also!!!

I have lived in Carmel for about a year now and just last night was the first time we tried Dooley O'Toole's. My girlfriend and I both tried the chicken sandwiches with "Chive Fries" (wedges)) and we were AMAZED! We love trying new places and critiquing them hard, we have NOTHING bad today at about this place. Service was excellent, treated us like locals and was extremely fast and accurate. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a nice meal in the carmel area. This might be our new spot! read more

Best compared to a Bennigan's; decor is dated and below average sports bar food. The only thing they do decently is a fried pork tenderloin the size of your head (depending on the size of your noggin). My sister said the burger just had no flavor. If you have a burger on your menu and can't do that well.... The highlight of my meal was the beer. read more

Pork Tenderloin Locally owned and operated, a real community restaurant. Yes it feels a bit old fashioned and it seems busiest around the time of day my grandma prefers to eat but dont let that deter you from this local gem. They do a lot of things well foremost among these dishes are the Pork Tenderloin sandwhich (my favorite in Indiana) the fried biscuits with apple butter, and the velvet chicken soup (someone snuck curry powder in there.) There service staff feels a bit inexperienced but always more than make up for it with their wonderful attitudes The prices are more than reasonable but beware, they aren't open on weekends. read more

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Carmel. I have never had a bad meal or a bad experience here. The tenderloin sandwich & the salmon are both outstanding. Finish it up with a sugar cream pie or one of the yummy cobblers and you will leave happy. Straight up Midwestern comfort food. read more

It's a local's regular place. The owners and staff know your name! The food is always good. The employee's are always great. read more

See all

On a whim, after navigating closed roads due to construction, we came here on a Monday night at 8 pm and it was basically empty. But I'm glad we came! Service was great - friendly but not in your face, responsive. Drinks were great. Velvet chicken soup and BLT were perfect and then topped it off with warm blackberry cobbler with ice cream. Yes, gluttony! But the food was great. We both decided this will go on our rotation of dinner out - casual, nice atmosphere, friendly. read more

Great service, food, prices. This is a favorite week day lunch spot for me but they have also been wonderful for curbside service during COVID with extended hours. Of all the places I have ordered curbside from they have been the least expensive, best portions, hottest temps, and friendliest and most grateful staff. They have a drive thru line and have nailed the curbside COVID service. Thank you!!! Your beloved chicken velvet soup brought me so much joy this past weekend. I've missed it! Be back soon! read more

We ordered carry-out today, at a slow business time, and it was completely wrong. The fried chicken salad has barely any lettuce, it's the saddest thing I've ever seen. But our two pork tenderloin sandwiches - which we were charged for sandwiches on the receipt - were just the tenderloins and that's it. No buns!! We made it very clear on the phone that we wanted the sandwiches. So after paying $35 for $15 worth of food, we aren't ordered from here again. It's so upsetting that businesses think just because you order carry-out means they can completely skimp on quality. read more

Love this place! I'm relocating back from Chicago, and this was my first memory I wanted to visit. Food is always fresh, homemade, amazingly delicious and for an incredible value! Tonight's feast was the fresh grilled, warm chicken Cobb salad. Absolutely fantastic! read more

This is Carmel's version of CHEERS. If your tired of soulless chain restaurants, this is your place They get to know your face, and always make you feel welcome. The Menu selections are great, I've tried most of them! Great selections, moderate price, friendly service. Just don't start talking "cars" with the owner, or your in for the evening :) And will have made a new friend. read more

Amy waited on us. Perfect! She is fast, funny and just makes you feel like part of the family! We had their Cod sandwiches that were the best we have had! North Atlantic, wild Caught and generous size. read more

I would like to give at least 3 stars because the food really isn't "bad", but it's not that great and certainly not worth the price. We eat out a lot (too much), and we almost have a bill between $40-$50 for two of us. Our bill here was $42, but we both agreed that the food was not on par with other resriim the area. My wife ordered the meatloaf which we were warned would take a smidge longer to prepare, which was okay since we were not in a hurry. when the food came out it was clear my breaded tenderloin had been done sometime earlier and was then reheated. The kitchen did not allow for the extra time on the meatloaf. our waitress rushed to the table and as she set my plate down mentioned how hot it was because she set it for 3 minutes. The plate was hotter than my sandwich. My green beans were limp and almost flavorless. The meatloaf we waited for was not much more than just a ground beef patty, without any noticeable binder as you would expect in meatloaf. The service was friendly and she checked on us often. The room was clean but a bit dated. read more

I've been a regular customer for about 23 years. The staff is friendly -- a place where "everybody knows your name". The food is consistently good. (My daughter had one bad meal, but they immediately took it back and "made it good".) The atmosphere is cozy, with lots of regulars to chat with. Dooley's makes no claim to high-end food, just tasty and wholesome American cuisine. Recommend highly! Just wish they could be open on weekends. read more

The best breaded tenderloin we have found! Breading is delicious and it is not greasy at all. It's definitely large enough to split, or have for a second meal the next day. The teriyaki chicken dinner, taco salad, chicken velvet soup, Irish stew and fried biscuits are also yummy! read more

I am VERY sad to write this but the last couple of trips have gotten horrible. The food tonight was great once it arrived but the service was beyond horrible. We had 2 wautress stop by to say they were not our servers then I finally asked Pete the bartender if there was anyway he could take our order. A third waitress came over once Pete was bringing our beverages after taking our order.. i guess I now know to order carry out or sit at bar. read more

Wanting to help out local businesses during the pandemic, we've been visiting local restaurants. Went across town for tenderloin sandwiches at Dooley O' Toole's. We were overcharged for our pick-up order. On contacting them we were told they would not credit our card, and would have to drive back for a cash credit. Obviously, we will not be going there again or recommend to anyone. Bad business practices! read more

The place has good food and service. To be brief and to the point. The chicken velvet soup is epic along with the breaded tenderloin sandwich. Go and give it a try. read more

Great food and service, he gets most of his pork and beef from Joe's butcher shop here in Carmel as well. The tenderloin and burgers are both top notch. The owner / manager is great to talk to. read more

I stopped by here after being in Carmel and not knowing where to eat and seeing it on Yelp an I am glad I did. The service was very good and our waitress made some suggestions that were really good like the biscuits and apple butter. I got the patty melt and fries and it was very good. The burger was tasty and not over cooked. The waitress was spot on with refills. I can't comment on the alcohol selection really since I rarely ever drink. I would definitely go back here. read more

You can't help but love Dooley's if you have lived in Carmel your whole life. It is a staple! You can always count on safe Dooley's if you are ever indifferent about where to eat. Looking at the menu is a bit strange because you change your idea of what you are in the mood for based on how eclectic the menu is. Take parents or grandparents there and they are sure to swoon! Not a date place though, while it does look like a green furry monster exploded inside. read more

Great place to eat with friendly service. Most menu items are good portions with a side to compliment. Owner a very friendly, personal guy. We visit there almost weekly. Best items we have had are breaded tenderloin with chive fries. Burgers, soups, and stew are also very good. Food priced well for quality you get. Place does look outdated, and needs new hd tv sets. read more

I love walking into a place and feeling like you're walking into a friend's house. That's how I feel when I go to Dooley O'Tooles. I've been here when it's quiet, and I've been here when it's absolutely packed (St. Patrick's Day) and each time, there's a great vibe. The food is consistently good. Must try menu offering - chicken velvet soup. It's one of their signature dishes, and it's warm and comforting. Their specials are very reasonable. read more

Always a good meal at a reasonable price. We like the soups and stews a ton. We also like most of their specials . You can get a burger, salad or a full meal. Great choices on the menu. I can enjoy ice tea with many refills or a nice glass of wine. No pressure from the staff. They are nice and laid back. Service is usually fast. It is a go to place for my family during the week. We even call and order for take out every few weeks. read more

Walked in and immediately felt welcomed! The staff was very friendly and the restaurant had a nice "homey" feel to it. Got the breaded tenderloin and fries. Buns were toasted... for the tenderloin... not my buns. Although the booths were very comfortable! The breaded tenderloin was large and in charge! Very tasty with giant slabs of pickle onion and I like mayo on mine. Fries were crispy and delicious. Very good lunch! Restrooms were clean, smelled nice and had plenty of TP. All very important in my book. I would highly suggest Dooley O'Tooles it's a Carmel tradition! read more

My favorite tenderloin - especially on Tenderloin Tuesday! And the chicken velvet soup is awesome! Great lunch specials during the week. Cooley's is closed on Saturday and Sunday - so keep them in mind during the week read more

Just three stars. Have patronized this place countless times since I moved to Carmel in 1985. The only things bringing me back are the very good Reuben Sandwich and the very good Irish Stew. Decor is "70'ish gear head". The owner is a hot rod enthusiast and this is his clubhouse. So be aware, you may feel a bit put-off if one of his buddies is there sucking up most up the waiter's time. read more

I can't get enough of their chicken velvet soup. Dooley's has been around forever and it is always friendly service when you walk in the door. Their breaded tenderloin is pretty good too. I miss their cheesesticks. read more

Waited 10 minutes to be seated in a half capacity restaurant. Then when we got seated we waited 10 minutes for a server. Nobody ever came so we left. Have no opinion about the food since we couldn't get waited on. Doubt if I ever go back. Maybe the reason they're only open 5 days a week is they can't hire competent help. read more
