The half size tenderloin, and coleslaw
Amber M.

Dooley O'Toole's in Carmel was a great experience. I ordered the Tenderloin Breakfast and it was full of flavor, really fresh and tasted amazing. The breading had good seasoning and the whole plate came together really well. I also had the clam chowder and it was so creamy and delicious that I finished it in a few seconds. It was exactly what I wanted. The place was packed with not an empty table in sight which says a lot about how popular it is. The ambience feels cozy and comforting. Overall it was an easy four star visit and I would definitely come back.

Mini Tenderloin

Visited Dooley O'Toole's for Hamilton County tenderloin Tuesday. You could get a large tenderloin sandwich plus one side for $11. Or, you could get a mini tenderloin sandwich +2 sides for $11. The tenderloins normally run about $14. I got the large tenderloin sandwich with fries. My wife got the mini tenderloin with chicken velvet soup and a side salad. The tenderloins come with your choice of lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, and mayo. Both our tenderloins were delicious. The large was very large, I had to double it over to make a sandwich. We think they have one of the best tenderloins in the Indianapolis area. The fries were nice and crispy. While the salad was iceberg lettuce, it was crisp and fresh. My wife really liked the soup as well. The restaurant was busy given it was tenderloin Tuesday. However, our food was served quickly and was hot. They appeared to be short staffed, but the people that were there were really working hard. We sat in the bar area at the bar counter. My wife liked that they had hooks to hang her purse. Our bill was accurate. This is a family owned and run business. So, check their hours before you visit. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will return!

First time coming here for dinner even though I've lived in Carmel for a long time. The service was friendly and fast. Our table of five got seated within five minutes. I ended up getting the grilled salmon salad and it was very filling and delicious. Everyone in our party ate all of their meals. My husband's aunt who was visiting said her chicken Dijon salad was the best one she's ever had. My father-in-law ordered some cherry cobbler dessert with some vanilla ice cream and he let me try a bite, so yummy! My husband had the cajun chicken breast that was spicy hut yummy. Our son had the grilled cheese and fries. We were all very full, but everything on the menu was amazing. We could also hear our conversation at the table.

Patty melt and fries

Great service. Was super busy but our server was happy to help us. Took awhile for the beer. The chicken velvet soup won the day 10/10 recommend; the patty melt and mini chicken tenderloin were delicious. We finished off our meal with a warm peach cobbler with cold vanilla ice cream. 11/10. Super excited to come back soon and try more! Around $60 for 3 beers, 2 sandwiches, and a cobbler with ice cream.

Can I just say the pork tenderloin sandwich was absolutely delicious!!! I havent had one in over 40 years! Service was impeccable, the staff was friendly and attentive, and it just felt like a nice, friendly, hometown restaurant! Highly recommend!!

Two things I enjoyed at this place: 1. The velvet chicken soup. It's creamy, smooth and flavorful. A cup is all you need if you're ordering an entreè. 2. The breaded tenderloin sandwich. It's so big you could literally ask for extra buns or bring your own. The pork meat is seasoned and has the right amount of crunch. This is a staple at Dooley's. Our server was very attentive and personable. Bring your appetite when you come.

Fried buscuits

Haven't been here in more than 10 years. Place looked exactly the same. Only open weekdays so it's hard to get up there. We ordered fried biscuits with apple butter for appetizer. I rarely order appetizers but I have not had fried biscuits in ages. There were delicious! And note they give you a ton, if you can't eat them all the fried biscuits do reheat wonderfully in a toaster oven. For lunch we ordered pork tenderloin and soup of the day which was ham and beans. Pork tenderloin for large and tasty. My husband said the soup was best ham and bean he has since his father's. All in all a good experience.

We came here for Tenderloin Tuesday and came a little early anticipating a crowd. I'm glad we did, the parking lot is on the smaller size but there was parking in the back. It has a laid back sports bar vibe with various seating sections either more bar-like or more restaurant-like. Friendly service and good food.

Grilled cheese and tomato soup.

We went here for a work lunch/meeting. I will describe the place as very average. I would not describe the service as overly slow, but it definitely wasn't either. It was cold and rainy out so I ordered grilled cheese and tomato soup and it was basic white bread and yellow cheese. I will come again because it's convenient but menu is standard and a pretty basic lunch place. The bar looked decent though, and a good spot for an after work drink with coworkers.

My tenderloin after I trimmed it down to a more manageable sandwich

Our server, Justin, was attentive and helpful throughout the evening. My partner asked for wine pairing recommendations, and Justin suggested a Pinot Noir that paired well with the meal. I ordered the Lemon Drop Cocktail, which was refreshing and enjoyable. The food was excellent. I ordered the Steak Frites, and my partner ordered the Duck A L'Orange. The steak was cooked to perfection, and the duck breast was tender and flavorful. We also shared the lavender and wild berry cheesecake for dessert. It was a unique offering--the flavors were interesting, although it wasn't my personal favorite. My partner, however, enjoyed it quite a bit. The ambiance of the restaurant is beautiful and elegant. My only complaint was the temperature inside the dining room. We dined indoors on a Saturday evening in mid-July when it was around 90 degrees outside, and the restaurant felt unusually warm and stuffy. I suspect there may have been an issue with the HVAC system, as there seemed to be very little air circulation. My partner was sweating throughout dinner. I'm usually someone who gets cold easily at restaurants and often brings a cardigan, so the fact that I found the temperature uncomfortable was surprising. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant and would happily return, assuming the HVAC issue has been resolved.

Just not my thing unless steak is tender. This was a little bit tough for me still. 3. Homemade ketchup was too sweet and runny. Didn't have much of a tomato flavor. 4. Duck a l'orange - is the signature dish but it was overcooked. It actually tastes gamier and didn't have a great texture. Proper duck breast is to be medium rare to medium, but I know we're in central Indiana. 5. Steak frites - steak was cooked well but had a burnt crust to it. Made it bitter. It really lacked basic salt and pepper. The sauce was also lacking in flavor. But the frites and aioli were good. 6. Wine- decent selection. The Bordeaux wasn't good but my husband's rose was decent. Service - our server was attentive as he could be was unfortunately spread too thin and was covering both sides of the dining room. Service at times took longer than anticipated. Manager was nice and did check on us. Just not the memorable meal we were hoping for on our anniversary and isn't the type of French cuisine we've had in the past from our travels.

We went for a 3:00 show on a Sunday such that by the time we got out, it was 6:00-still early. It was in the 30's outside and already dark (thanks DLS time). Yet as we reached the top of the stairs to the lobby I was immediately disappointed that there was no fire lit in the fireplace. There were only three parties in the place. One was around the corner in the adjoining sitting area and may or may not have been drinking. There were two couples at the bar, where we considered also sitting. But the only empty spot for two had two dirty drink glasses from a previous patron still sitting. So we opted for the leather couch and chair in the main area just across from the bar. And that's where we waited, and waited, for almost 30 minutes, before giving up on getting served (or acknowledged). There was only one bartender, so we were fine with going up to order but communication would have been helpful. We stood at the bar while she chatted with the two couples, who'd all been served. We couldn't really figure out what she was doing as she seemed busy-ish yet wasn't serving, or clearing, or washing, and we were chatting between ourselves and didn't really give it much thought. Then she said she was out of something and was leaving the bar to go fetch it. We asked her to let us know when she was ready to serve us, and we took our seats to resume our conversation. The bartender returned after a while, and she served one of the original couples ... for another 10 minutes at least. Again we were talking so, while an irritation, it was in the background. About 50 minutes into our visit, she came over and took our drink order. This was my third or fourth visit, and I'd ordered my drink, an old fashioned, before and knew what to expect: bourbon of choice, Luxardo cherry, and a dehydrated orange slice. Ten minutes later we got our drinks. Now mind you, my friend ordered a glass of wine. Nothing time consuming about that. She noted that her pour was smaller than the other times she'd been there. Mine came with the whisky cube already on its way to melted, a broken (a.k.a. piece of) cherry and a twist. What? Where's my glorious little crunchy orange wheel of goodness? I had spied them on the bar earlier. No soup for me! Also, and I can't be sure 100% sure of this, but I tasted neither bitters nor syrup. Was this really just a bourbon rocks? It took a minute but we realized this gal cannot tend and talk at the same time. My friend commented that she had no idea what will happen when the place gets busy, as it has been every other time I've been there. We left after 8:00, after one drink, and for me, $21 lighter. Yeah, it's pricey. And the Carmichael crowd is a discriminating one. So we expected better. Much, much better.

I got the Crack Dip, and some boneless wings with the dry goat rub (was recommended). The crack dip came with chicharrones, which was interesting. It tasted...fine. Just kinda bland with not much going for so it, other than being cream cheesey. Unfortunately the chicharrones did not really add much to the experience. My boneless wings were also the same... Fine. Kinda bland. The dry rub doesn't actually stick to the breading, so it was just plain chunks of breaded chicken tenders with a little pile of seasoning sitting in the bottom of the basket. My friends food however, was actually pretty tasty! The bone-in wings with chili garlic honey sauce were zesty and juicy. Not one smile. Very limited interaction. And overall, extremely poor customer service. I would not recommend! Cherry on top: when you pay, they have the unmitigated gall to have the tip increments go from 22-30%. Not a one person who "served" us worked to deserve a tip of that magnitude. I fully accept that this is a safe space for bourbon people and whiskey people. (I know: Bourbon is a type of whiskey! Just go with me here.) They have a literal wall of bourbon at The Broken Barrel. Pro tip: Look at the menu and see what they offer, but then walk up to the bar and look at the wall of whiskey and bourbon, and see what they have available that day. What they have available and what's on the menu can vary. You might see some goodies on the wall that aren't listed on the menu. If I'm not drinking wine, then I'm drinking gin. Luckily for me, there was a gin drink on the menu, so I got that: The New Gatsby, which is Hendrick's gin, St. Germain, cherry and lime, served in a tall glass with lots of ice. It was refreshing, but I kind of wish it had more gin in it! It was very sweet and light, and the perfect beverage for someone who likes light, sweet drinks.
