Oh my goodness, we absolutely love Nylas. This has become our go to special date night spot when we don't want to head downtown but still want something that feels elevated and special. The service is always impeccable and the atmosphere is so cozy and inviting. It just feels like a place you can settle into and actually enjoy your night together without any rush. The food is truly out of this world. I hate mushrooms with a passion, but their mushroom bisque is probably one of the best soups I have ever had. I never thought I would say that about anything with mushrooms in it. The steak served on the hot plate is also such a great touch and makes the whole experience feel even more special. And the not so famous yet chocolate cake absolutely should be, because it is divine. We always leave happy and already talking about when we can come back. We also love the Italian house they own right next door, which is another great option when we are in the mood for something different. Our dinner group met up at Nylas on a very rainy Tuesday for the early bird dinner ( yes even cool kids do it) , large group of eight. Our table was ready and the Manger himself took us to our seats. This adorable three story red barn was dripping in charm and homey vibes. We sat on the second floor, we didn't know it had stairs or we would have asked for a first floor , a few of the group are not great on stairs, but as a team we made it work. Plus note is that there is a bathroom on the second floor. Speaking of the bathroom it did feel very much like a airplane bathroom, a litte Claustrophobic. The early bird dinner is the way to go, three course for a great price. We started by getting the deviled eggs and the mushroom soup. Both were amazing, the soup was so creamy and the eggs had just the right amount of firmness. I had fried chicken which was the best I have had in the Indy area. My husband had stroganoff and he felt like it was made by someone's granny. I also tasted the pork belly, and it was out of this work good. My wife, my daughter, and I ventured to Nyla's to try their "Early Bird Special" menu items. You get a three course meal before 6 pm for $25 per person. My wife ordered the Nyla's Wedge Salad for her first course and remarked how tasty it was. I had the Mushroom Cream Soup and it was the best I've ever had. Highly recommend you try it. My wife's second course was the Mushroom Burgundy Chicken. It consisted of a rich and savory red wine reduction, tenderized chicken, asparagus, and garlic mash potatoes. My wife loved it. For my second course I ordered the Chicken Milanese. It was served with tenderized & breaded chicken with a creamy lemon butter sauce, capers, mashed potatoes, and broccoli. Very tasty and the portions were larger than expected. My daughter ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Sandwich. It was served with crispy fried marinated chicken breast, Swiss cheese, ranch aioli, candied bacon, crispy shallots, lettuce and tomato on a Challah bun. We lucked out with the Early Bird menu - three courses for $25 before 6 pm. The standout dish was the mushroom burgundy chicken. Incredibly satisfying and savory with depth of flavor- perfect for a winter night. The s'mores crème brûlée was also delightful. Our server (Hogan, I think) was excellent and attentive to my gluten allergy. He suggested several dishes that were gluten free and recommended modifications. He was busy making drinks and helping others, but checked on us throughout the night. Our drinks were great too. My husband enjoyed the espresso martini and said it seemed to be high quality. First of all I rarely give 5 stars and I am extremely picky with my food. I am French and Russian and I ate and traveled the world and ate at countless 5 starts restaurants and some of the most renowned places. Decided to go to Nyla's spontaneously, since I live next door and decided to finally venture in. I was very pleasantly surprised how cute the place was inside. And the food selection. Very European touch. I went with the chicken pot pie was fantastic! And the gratin dauphinois too. Everything was just delicious and well thought through. Nyla's is a cute, quaint spot. It's in an old home and they've done a great job transitioning it to a cozy restaurant atmosphere. Parking can be tough since it's on a normal 2 lane road without a parking lot. Down the road though there's a large space to park. The staff were more than friendly and super accommodating. We sat upstairs and I loved it! There's a bar up there and it was perfectly quiet for friends to catch up. The menu is well rounded. We started with the deviled eggs and candied bacon. The bacon is downright addictive. The eggs were fresh and delicious. Dinner comes with mushroom soup or wedge salad. We both had the wedge salad with blue cheese and was refreshing with more delicious bacon. My husband had the Chicken Milanese, which he raved about. The chicken was moist and the caper sauce delightful. The tomato topping on the green beans is delicious. My Sirloin steak was huge with a wonderful buttery sauce. The steak was fairly undercooked for me (rare verses medium rare) so my husband ate most of it. The potato to was huge and a meal in itself. The OG Martini is simple and served in a frosty glass, I love a cold martini. I recommend. The restaurant is in eclectic barn style house. There are two floors and not a lot of tables. For starters we had cornbread and crab cakes, cornbread was hot and moist, the cakes were full of meat and teaming with flavor, mushroom soup, buttery deliciousness, moving to dinner I had the 7oz filet which was a fantastic cut of meat and cooked to perfection, my wife had the sea bass , I took a bite and the flavor of that dish was amazing. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, but the undisputed star of this show was the mushroom soup. I don't want to get too emotional, but it was life changing. Service: Our server's name was Luke, and he did an outstanding job explaining the menu and kept us well supplied all night with drinks and food. Ambiance: They have taken the big red barn on Park Street and fixed it up nicely inside. It's somewhat upscale, but intimate. I was a big fan of the former restaurant in this building (Rail Epicurean), so I'm glad Nyla's has done justice to this space. Can't forget the cream of mushroom soup-heavenly. You can sub balsamic for bleu cheese if you opt for the wedge. Main of miso soy ginger sea bass over broccolini and a cauliflower risotto. I made reservations for when they opened at 5pm so we were the first ones there. It is a cool red barn, cute and homey inside however seating is rather compact. Our server was great! Friendly, informative, and helpful. He really made us feel special. He took his time to go over any items we had questions on. For drinks we had the Rum Old Fashion and The Big Apple Tini. Both were good but that old fashion was better so I had that as my second drink. We ordered the Candied Bacon Deviled Eggs for our appetizer which was really good, the candied bacon took it to another level. But there's where the visit went flat - our food was very good but didn't meet the mark when considering the high price point. I had the Chicken Milanese which was prepared traditionally, and was excellent. Always appreciate the difficulty of presenting a thick, juicy chicken breast. However, the mashed 'taters were heavy and skimpy, and my husband's entree was mediocre at best. I ordered the Apple Tini while I waited on my friends to arrive. It was very crisp and refreshing. A delicious way to start off the evening. When my friends arrived we got seated at a table also located upstairs. I started off by ordering the deviled eggs. It came with candied bacon which was so good. It was then time to order a second cocktail. This time around I got the Lavender Margarita and it was just as lovely as the Apple Tini. I tried their Manhattan drink and it was delicious to me, I tasted the sweet cherry! - i love bourbon with cherry esp maraschino cherry! For our meal, we had sea bass w/ cauliflower risotto and broccolini, my husband had a chicken milanese w/ mashed potatoes and broccolini and wedge salad for all of us! The size portion was generous!! I love how the cauliflower risotto idea instead of regular risotto! For dessert, we went for the apple crumbs . Checked Nyla's out after meeting their manager Brent on a whim. Took a colleague there to check it out and was more than impressed. It's tucked away in an area that looks to be being revitalized. It's a beautifully charming red farmhouse with an amazing, yet not intimidating ambiance.
