Wow. Sensational flavors, fun dishes, incredibly friendly service. We were blown away by how tasty and unique this place is! The Barbacoa empanada is a must as well as the Lolo Saltato. The menu is subject to change throughout the year but I would trust them to serve me my last meal in prison before I die. Can't wait to be back. Gringtinos, you rock!!

I walked in and was told to seat myself anywhere. There was a table of 7, a table of 2, and me at 8:24pm on a Thursday night. Not busy at all. I had to wait a while for someone to come to the table. I tried to order an iced tea, but they don't have that on the menu. (Strange for a restaurant.) I opted to just have water instead. My waiter disappeared and was gone for quite a while. Someone else even came by to ask if I had been helped or if I needed a drink. I told him it was supposed to be on the way. The interior looks a lot like the previous restaurant (Union Jack), but they have painted over the British references that had been on the walls. Since I had seen this place billed as a "Latin" restaurant, I wanted to try something different. The menu was dominated by American burgers, fettuccine, spaghetti and meatballs... None of those sounded very Latin. I chose the $21 Majadito entree, which was described as "pulled chicken breast - egg, plantains - served over rice... served with sarsa sauce." My food came out at 8:59pm, so it took about a half hour to get my food from the time I entered. Not bad. The plantains were the best part by far. There was no chicken served "over" the rice as described- there were a few small, rubbery, overcooked pieces mixed in with the dry rice. The whole serving was small enough to hide under one fried egg. (See photo.) I had almost finished when I realized there was no "sarsa sauce", which it was supposed to be served with. I substituted house fries instead of Yucca fries- the menu said it was a $3 upcharge, but on my receipt I was charged $4. These just looked like fries you'd get from the frozen food section at Kroger. For $21, plus a $3 (no, make that $4) upcharge for some plain old french fries, you should get a LOT more food than this. I never did get a refill of my water, because the 2 servers were overwhelmed with the table of 7 people that had arrived before me. Who knows what will happen if the restaurant ever gets full... I hope they find some experienced help. I avoided asking for anything simple because I felt sorry for them. My total was $27.25, and $31 by the time I left a tip. I was pointed to a QR code to pay my bill online rather than someone actually taking my payment. I'll chalk the first bad experience up to "growing pains", but I'm not sure that there is anything on the menu to draw me back in for a second visit. Maybe the brunch I saw on their FB page is better than dinner?

Wonderful experience tonight after early voting at Westfield City Hall! Owners wife is an outstanding chef!

I've now have been a dozen or more times now working through the menu and I have to say I am still impressed. Westfield is lucky to have this place.

However, on a recent trip back to visit my parents' grave, I finally got the chance to stop in and check it out for a bit. Central Normal Tap is basically a laid-back, charming pub and grill with solid dining options, craft beer, spirits, and a terrifically friendly vibe. I'm not sure if terrifically is really a word, but I'm sticking with it. Located on the east side of the Danville Town Square, this is a great place to hit if you're doing some visiting of the town square (and you should). It's not an all-day joint. It's really from evening into the night hours. The town square offers free parking (with accessible option). While there are stores on the square that are not accessible, Central Normal Tap is pretty darn good (some of the tables are a bit high and there are a handful of booths that have a step up). Dining options include pretzels, wings, flatbreads, and more. I didn't spend a whole lot of time here, but I enjoyed the time I spent. The vibe was a nice tapestry of smaller town charm with a modern energy. The food was tasty, and the service was absolutely top-notch. I would easily return, though I might avoid when it's super busy as I could imagine accessibility being a bit more challenging just due to the layout. For those who wonder (I love origin stories), the name comes from Central Normal College, a former college that moved from Ladoga, Indiana to Danville, Indiana in the 19th century and lasted until just after World War II. It's a part of Danville/Hendricks County history (you can learn more about it at the Hendricks County Museum).

I had a couple local beers and ordered the Indiana Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with Fries. They were both delicious. The pork tenderloin was piping hot, lightly breaded and had a good crunch on the outside and tender meat inside. The fries were perfectly seasoned. It was very lively for a Monday night and all the TV's had sports on. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and got to try 2 local beers that I had not had before.

Beautiful space. Warm feel. Exactly what the evening called for. Our server Jill M was the real story. She greeted us warmly, asked if we had questions about the menu, and when we mentioned my wife has Celiac Disease, she didn't flinch. She walked us through every option carefully and honestly. That kind of attentiveness is rare, and it mattered. Here's the honest part: the kitchen uses a shared fryer, which limits options significantly for anyone with gluten sensitivity or food allergies. My wife made it work, but the choices were thin. For a restaurant at this level, I'd love to see that change. Food allergies aren't going away, and guests who want to celebrate special occasions deserve more than a gluten-free bun as their only path forward. The food was genuinely delicious. Drinks never ran dry. Jill was never far. We all left saying it was a great meal. Four stars, and I mean it. Jill earns five on her own. I'd go back without hesitation. I'd just hope the kitchen catches up to what the front of house already delivers.
