My youngest son has been obsessed with empanadas ever since he tasted them at an event we attended a while back. So, I decided to take my dear son to Gringtinos to eat some empanadas, because this Latin-ish restaurant has several different varieties on the menu. We sat down, looked at the menu, and my son wanted a cheeseburger, instead. Oh, kids! You gotta love them, right? (Right?) Luckily, Gringtinos has a kids menu that includes a cheeseburger, as well as a quesadilla and boneless wings. My son said that the cheeseburger was the best that he's had in a long time, so there you go. If you want a great kids' cheeseburger, visit Gringtinos. I was there for empanadas, so I got us a few: barbacoa, chicken, ground filet and street corn. We loved all of them, but the ground filet was probably our favorite (it was basically ground beef). We also ordered the yucca fries, which are served with white queso. They were like regular potato fries, but more earthy and dense. One order can feed two or three people -- they're very filling, with an interesting texture. I'm glad I ordered them. The service was OK, but we had to ask for plates, even though the server saw us dripping empanada juice all over our napkins. (It's like, hello! Yes, plates would be good. Bring us plates.) I'm also not a fan of servers not writing down my order, and instead, trying to memorize everything I say. I'm not impressed! It makes me stressed! Please, for the love of everything that's holy, just write down my order. It's truly OK to write things down. I promise. The construction around Gringtinos is murder, but don't fret. There is parking in the back, off of a gravel road. Once you park, enter through the back and you're good to go. read more

Aside from the bar, the restaurant wasn't busy. The service was lackluster and inattentive. We wanted to try it because of the reviews praising the food. That was now our experience. Wow. Sensational flavors, fun dishes, incredibly friendly service. We were blown away by how tasty and unique this place is! The Barbacoa empanada is a must as well as the Lolo Saltato. I walked in and was told to seat myself anywhere. There was a table of 7, a table of 2, and me at 8:24pm on a Thursday night. Not busy at all. I had to wait a while for someone to come to the table. I tried to order an iced tea, but they don't have that on the menu. (Strange for a restaurant.) I opted to just have water instead. My waiter disappeared and was gone for quite a while. Someone else even came by to ask if I had been helped or if I needed a drink. I told him it was supposed to be on the way. The interior looks a lot like the previous restaurant (Union Jack), but they have painted over the British references that had been on the walls. Since I had seen this place billed as a "Latin" restaurant, I wanted to try something different. The menu was dominated by American burgers, fettuccine, spaghetti and meatballs... None of those sounded very Latin. I chose the $21 Majadito entree, which was described as "pulled chicken breast - egg, plantains - served over rice... served with sarsa sauce." My food came out at 8:59pm, so it took about a half hour to get my food from the time I entered. Not bad. The plantains were the best part by far. There was no chicken served "over" the rice as described- there were a few small, rubbery, overcooked pieces mixed in with the dry rice. The whole serving was small enough to hide under one fried egg. (See photo.) I had almost finished when I realized there was no "sarsa sauce", which it was supposed to be served with. I substituted house fries instead of Yucca fries- the menu said it was a $3 upcharge, but on my receipt I was charged $4. These just looked like fries you'd get from the frozen food section at Kroger. For $21, plus a $3 (no, make that $4) upcharge for some plain old french fries, you should get a LOT more food than this. I never did get a refill of my water, because the 2 servers were overwhelmed with the table of 7 people that had arrived before me. Who knows what will happen if the restaurant ever gets full... I hope they find some experienced help. I avoided asking for anything simple because I felt sorry for them. My total was $27.25, and $31 by the time I left a tip. I was pointed to a QR code to pay my bill online rather than someone actually taking my payment. I'll chalk the first bad experience up to "growing pains", but I'm not sure that there is anything on the menu to draw me back in for a second visit. First time at this restaurant and we were not disappointed! We had a cheeseburger and the buffalo wings. Service was top notch -- food EXCELLENT! Right now, construction has closed off Union Street, so park in the rear of the restaurant. The construction is really affecting business, but it was worth the effort to go. Take the time and support this business and enjoy a great meal! (By the way, the blue cheese for the wings was some of the best bleu cheese I have had with wings!) read more

We had great service and cold pizza. We waited so very long for the pizza and then when it came out it was cold. We were baffled. I wondered if they thought it was a to-go order and our pizza sat in a box for 15 minutes before they realized it should be at our table. So disappointing. We will not return. read more

As self proclaimed foodies, my husband and I were more than delighted to have found Gringtinos. We were in a bit of a hurry and sat at the bar where we learned about the Brazilian cuisine from our very personable bartender, Joseph. Undaunted by new experiences, I had the Majaditos and my husband had the Lomo Saltado. Both were not only unique, but absolutely delicious! The other diners at the bar were all extremely satisfied, repeat customers who appeared to have become regulars at this newish eatery. They raved about the pizza. We visited here a few times for drinks, but this is our first time visiting for dinner. Here's the good, everyone enjoyed the street corn appetizer, and a few in our party had tacos and empanadas which were praised. Here's the bad, chicken Caesar salad was warm and wilted however the chicken did taste good. The American burger is probably the worst burger I've ever had. A food service beef patty with no seasoning and a gummy, tasteless bun. I guess I was expecting the same quality as The Mill. So visit Gringtinos, enjoy some drinks, but stay away from the burgers. read more

A very welcome addition to Westfield's food scene. I'm honestly not excited about the burgers and pizza (that's everywhere) but the south american options are fantastic. My wife and I have been there twice now and we just love the Pique Macho, Lomo Saltado, and the empanadas. So good. We just order all of that and then share. Gringtinos is in our dinner rotation now so they'll see us every month or so. Oh, also, they have a full bar. The service is fantastic. One of the owners is checking on everyone and the young man who served us was knowledgeable, quick and efficient. Prices are moderate for what you get. The place is in an old downtown westfield building with a lot of character. It has a bar area that's a little on the small side, but the restaurant is spacious and well lit. I've tried this restaurant a few times now, since it replaced Union Jack's and have had consistently poor experiences. It's often near-empty and if there is more than a table or two of diners, the service staff seems to get overwhelmed causing long wait times and mistakes with the orders. Beyond that, the food is terrible, with the exception of the pizza, which is decent. The combination of American and Brazilian food is nice in theory, but save your money and buy the frozen empanadas from Trader Joe's, which will be 10x better than anything you get at this place. Looking forward to this prime location becoming something other than Gringtino's hopefully soon. read more

Place feels like a hidden gem. Service was 10/10. The food was great too, and the live music was a nice touch. Perfect spot for a date night, but is also family friendly. The "Westfield Wings" (bone-in) were good. The cauliflower pizza was surprisingly tasty. I could tell they did not skimp on the cheese. It was cheesed up all the way to the crust. We were there a couple weeks ago with another couple. We wanted to like this place since it's a local establishment but were very underwhelmed. The interior is cute. The staff friendly. The food not so good. We ordered empanadas. They come two in a serving- 1 chicken, 1 cheese. My husband and I cut each one in half to try. Neither one had much filling inside. In fact, after the first bite of the cheese empanada it had no cheese in it. I had the Majadito- rice with shredded chicken in it with a fried egg. It was dry and flavorless. The others at our table each got one of the other Latin dishes and weren't impressed by them either.
