I've been here a few times last week, both times everything from the kitchen was wonderful.The first time I tried the Bleu Cheese Burger. Let's just say their bun was so soft and toasty all at the same time. The burger was cooked perfectly. Sweet potato fries were great. Second time I just had soup. Chicken Velvet. We love getting take out from Sahms in the Village is West Clay. They have a large variety of food and our family loves it. They also have a coffee cake that is a must have if you want a dessert. I sometimes will get a salad, but more commonly it's a burger. Their burgers do not disappoint. My kids like the chicken tenders (appetizer) and the grilled cheese (kids meal). They also have meals for holidays tha you can pick up and bake at home. We've done their turkey meal more than once. read more

The staff at this location of Sahm's just can't get the service right. I returned this past week with a group of friends. The restaurant was very busy for Tenderloin Tuesday specials. We had a number of issues: 1. Food runner brought out several plates and, instead of directly giving me my soup, passed it down the table. There were three sets of hands on my bowl of soup before I received it. Yuk. 2. My salad delivered and I had no utensils. No one checked on us so I sat and waited, finally I went and retrieve utensils on my own. 3. No one ever refilled our water glasses. 4. When checking out, there is no itemized bill, just a total. The folks who ordered the special were mischarged. Thank goodness one of our group noticed and server fixed the mistake. 5. Checking out required handling of one (dirty) payment device. Why isn't this cleaned between people? Yuk! 6. A couple of us wanted to-go boxes. Our server came with the boxes held up open against his dirty shirt. Really? I don't understand why this staff can't do a better (cleaner) job. In terms of the food: Alaskan Clam Chowder - ok Cobb Salad - flavorless lettuce, mealy tomato, dry chicken. The avocado was good. Went to Sam's for a Sunday lunch. My wife and I had the avocado chicken quesadilla. The quesadilla was excellent and served as a very nice meal for both of us. We also enjoyed very nice cocktails. This is a really nice spot in Carmel. I was in the bar area which has a lot of indoor seats. The bartenders were friendly and fast. I had the seedless margarita which was great and the and chicken avocado quesadilla, it was a huge, yummy portion! I had to get a to go box for most of it. I need to go back again soon. read more

Overall, was a good experience at the restaurant, but nothing out of the park to write home about. We were quickly seated when we got it- the space is much smaller than I would have expected. The design didn't give off "ale house" rather than "metro diner" in my opinion. We were greeted by our waitress, who did a good job throughout the night despite being busy. We started off with the cheese curds. Solid choice, with the ranch being a nice addition. I got the steak sandwich for my meal- the steak on it wasn't the best (I knew not to expect anything super high quality), but was a little disappointed in it. The fries were mediocre as well. We come here regularly (once a week on average), and have never had anything other than great service and great food. Their arugula and beet salad is the best, and their spicy garlic cauliflower definitely hits the spot for this vegetarians wing craving! Hannah, Benji, and nick are usually our bartender or servers and they are all amazing, going above and beyond. It's has a neighborhood bar feel. One of our favorite places to go. read more

Wow. What is happening here?!!. Came here for lunch today. Ordered the stir fry with chicken and rice on the side. Tomato basil soup (special) as my side. They delivered the special corned beef soup - they were actually out of tomato basil. It actually wasn't bad. My stirfry arrived with beef. The remake came on top of the rice. Have been to Sahm's Ale House for happy hour a number of times and decided to go there for lunch. Was pleased with the breaded tenderloin. This is Indiana and you take them for granted until you get a disappointing one which I did a few weeks ago at another restaurant. This one was an A. Bread was fresh, the pickles crunchy, and the tomatoes were as good as you are going to get in April. What sent this lunch apart were the sides. I ordered the corn casserole (My wife loves corn casserole) but she decided on the spicy garlic breaded cauliflower (Think buffalo wings) so I opted, as the hero I am, to order the corn casserole so my wife would not be denied.Both were a welcome change from the standard French fries. I'm not the kind of guy who usually writes reviews but I love this place so much I had to make an exception. First off, the Clint Eastwood burger is hands down one of the best burgers I've ever had. Perfectly cooked, packed with flavor, and just the right amount of kick. It's become my go-to lunch when I want something hearty and satisfying. But don't sleep on the breakfast either. I often stop in for pancakes and bacon in the morning, and it's always spot-on. The pancakes are fluffy and golden, the bacon is crispy and just right. it's simple, but done perfectly. On top of the great food, the staff here is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Whether you're a regular or a first-timer, they make you feel right at home every time. It's always a good meal here. I ordered the lemon chicken and arugula. It says two chicken breasts, which is a little misleading because instead of two full breasts you get two thin pounded pieces of chicken. The dish is quite tasty, but it wasn't quite as much food as I had anticipated. I had planned to get two meals out of it. For the sides, I ordered the hot honey brussels sprouts which were delicious, and the Indiana grain bread, which came out warm and plentiful. My husband had the pork tenderloin sandwich, which is on special for $10 on Mondays, so a good deal. He enjoyed it and said it was a nice size. The service is always very good here. read more

Overall, service was speedy and friendly but food is below average. Had the chicken apple orchard salad where the description says "shaved" brussel sprouts. Instead, these were big chunks of brussel sprouts, making it very hard to eat and digest. The salad was also watery from the vinaigrette and sprouts. read more

For $55, my dining companion and I enjoyed a well-rounded meal: the Burrata for the first course, followed by a refreshing Summer Salad and classic Wedge Salad, then hearty Chicken Kebabs and Steak with Potatoes, and finishing with the indulgent Buffalo Trace Bread Pudding. The service was great, and the food was good, complemented by excellent drink deals. The happy hour menu looks delicious, so we'll definitely be back for that. I was greeted instantly. My server was GREAT. She was very friendly and had cute Christmas nails. Most of my fries were cold while my cauliflower was piping hot. My hot food came out before the salad so I packed the salad to go. I wasn't automatically given a piece of cake until I asked for it. My cup was dirty and I didn't pay it any attention until I was halfway done. I would've given 3 stars but I did mention to my server that my fries were cold and she took them off my bill. Eddie does good food! I've never been fond of their beer but I do love their food. Instead of my normal chop chop salad that I get at 65th St and which wasn't on the menu here I got the spinach melt. Let me tell you. That is one incredible sandwich!!! Isaac was a bit slow and disorganized and the chairs were a bit raggedy and the table needs to be replaced so I didn't give them a five. I met some ladies for drinks at Sahm's Ale House. We sat outside on the patio on a summer evening, and at one point at dusk, someone turned on the patio's twinkly lights. So the outdoor seating area was awash in a lovely, yellow glow. It was nice, and it almost made me forget that I was sitting in the middle of The Village of WestClay. I kid, I kid. If you find yourself in The Village on the west side of Carmel, and you find yourself hungry and/or in need of an adult beverage, this is the place to go. I support everything Eddie Sahm does, and Sahm's Ale House is just as great as the other restaurants that Eddie has launched around Indy. The service is great, the food is great, and the beer and cocktail options are plentiful. You'll find a great meal here. I didn't order any food, I only ordered a Sahm's Mule, which includes Tito's and ginger beer, among some other botanical ingredients. It was super refreshing and cold, and it was the perfect drink to sip on a summer evening. The only thing is that I wish it were a little stronger. I just barely got a buzz! That's the thing with mixed drinks: The quality really depends on the person who makes it. And the person who made mine needed to add a little more Tito's, in my opinion. Our friends and I enjoyed the design and atmosphere, inside and outdoor. I had meatloaf, I don't usually think anyone makes meatloaf like me, but Sahms is very close. But, I don't like soggy green beans, but I would like them cooked, not raw. I took them home and cooked them for lunch at work. Bill had Chicken Fettucine which was loaded with chicken. With creamy sauce. Jay had meatloaf sandwich, which he devoured. Gina's Tempura shrimp were crisp and served hot. This was my first time at Sahm's west clay. Some of the reviews threw me off a little bit and I'm glad they didnt detere me from visiting. There is plenty of free parking in the area and it's located in a cute neighborhood. When you enter it appears to be small and once you take a sharp right the bar has way more space. We decided to sit at the bar where the staff was nice and friendly. We started with a half order of Spicy Garlic Cauliflower and it was amazing. This was a first time try for me and it didn't fail. This is a hands down must try item. For cocktails we tried the three milk punch drinks that were offered and all were good. The Pear Daiquiri milk punch is made with Scarlet Ibis Rum and it's just like eating a pear. The New York milk punch is made with four Rose's bourbon and warmed my soul. The Negroni sour milk punch is made with Ford's gin and it's also amazing. The drinks sound sweet but they are not overwhelming and the presentation is not expected. Once they arrive to you, you are thinking...is this my drink...yes, it is. The Tuna melt and tater tots were typical and at the same time it's what was expected. If you're on the hunt for a relaxing patio where you can enjoy a nice beer, look no further. They have a huge patio right out front that can seat plenty of people! We ordered 2 radlers, which are a combination of a wheat beer and lemonade. It was quite delicious and refreshing on a hot day! Their food menu is huge, it's hard to decide what to order! However I love that that you can make any salad into a wrap! I ordered the Caesar salad and made it into a wrap with tots. So delicious! The tots were unbelievably crispy and seasoned well. My husband ordered the special, Nashville hot chicken sandwich with fries. The size of the sandwich was massive! We notice quite a few people ordering the breadsticks while we were there. Well not a great dinner the last two times I've eaten here. I think a little employee training is in order. I ate in the bar both times at a table and even though there were three people working behind the bar we waited and waited. Dressings were spilled all over plates, food looked and tasted warmed up in the microwave. My martini glass had a chip and a crack in it, when I showed the waiter he just grabbed it and I watched him go behind the bar pour it into another glass and bring it back to me. When I asked if this was the same drink poured into a new glass he said "no". I did not drink it. That should have been bartending 101- I did not order glass chips or a cut lip with my drink! I like the Village of WestClay and luckily there are some restaurants and breweries to enjoy your time in the neighborhood. Sahm's is one of them - it has a nice interior as well as a cozy terrace. Parking is very easy with many street options and the whole area is very peaceful and quiet. We ordered some burgers and sides - our order was done quickly and all the food tasted good and was fresh. It's notable their burgers use home-made white buns and there are about 20 different side options that come with burgers. I'm only giving it 4 stars because there's some room for improvement on the service side of things. Sahm's Ale House in West Clay is a hidden gem and now our weekend go to. They have a rotating theme menu (think Mexican fiesta and Mardi Gras, just to name a few). The pork tenderloin and steak sandwich are two of my favorites in all of Indianapolis. Next up is there great variety of libations. Great assortment of Big Lug beers, hand crafted cocktails (try whatever the old fashion special of the week- you don't be disappointed. The cherry on top is their great service! Tonight we opted to visit the Ale House. We arrived to a "please wait to be seated" sign. We waited, and no one appeared. So we decided to go sit in the bar where we would be seen, hoping that someone would wait on us. We sat at a table that still had two empty bear glasses, and I looked around and noted that an older couple had finished their dinner, and were staring off into the distance, waiting on their check. two bartenders were waiting on three people. They saw us, but never acknowledged us, never came over, never even stopped their conversation with two customers about what the crappiest vodka is. One bartender actually leaned against the counter as he had nothing to do at that moment. We waited and waited and waited, until we finally said the hell with it and left. I doubt we go back. Their servece over the years has gotten shittier. I'm not sure if it's a lack of help, or the way the restaurant is laid out, making an unable to see when customers leave sit or or are waiting. I'm not sure if they would just prefer to wait on their regulars and ignore everyone else. I would give this place zero stars if I could. read more

During COVID-19, all Sahm's locations have pivoted to become a pantry and marketplace. This includes Sahm's Ale House in the Village of West Clay in Carmel. Each location has a slightly different menu with various offerings, but the concept is the same across the board. Call in your order, pay over the phone and pick-up your grocery order curbside. I've been avoiding grocery stores during COVID-19, and online ordering through big companies like Amazon is hit or miss. With Sahm's, there's no guesswork of what's in stock AND I'm supporting a local business in my community. Not to mention, you can order and pick-up same day - no waiting! The gal who took my order over the phone was super nice and read my order back to me. Since this was my first time using their curbside grocery service, she explained the setup. I told them my car color/model and when I pulled up to the restaurant, they brought all my things out and set them on the patio table. It is a no-contact process, so they are unable to put it in your car - which is fine by me! I took my box and was on my way. The selection includes prepared food from their limited menu (salads, burgers, tenderloins, etc.) and family-style meals ideal for 4-6 people. The grocery list includes a decent list of fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, dressings and sauces, pantry staples, baked goods (hello, sour cream coffee cake!) and even cleaning supplies. YES, they have disinfectant, toilet paper and paper towel! All at reasonable prices, too. During the pandemic, I will be patronizing Sahm's as much as I can for my grocery and food needs. I am so thankful they have remained open and are serving the community in this way. BONUS: Sahm's Restaurant Group has partnered with Second Helpings in Indy to produce 30,000+ meals weekly to feed those in need. What a great business to support with our dollars. read more

Portions wise wow! I ordered the Bulgogi Tacos, which comes w/ a side so went w/ the Beet & Arugula Salad (+$1), Chips & a delish coffee cake. I already had the Queso & Chips so took the side of chips home. Bulgogi Tacos... too much on top so took all off & added the goat cheese from my salad alone. Delish!! My friends ordered the kids portion of Mac n Cheese w/ fries & cup of Clam Chowder. Both great & may need to order the kids portion next time lol. Mike our server, new employee, was nice, awkward. He'll learn w/ experience. The bartender, Hunter, funny & fantastic! I tried a horrible Cannabis Vodka so changed it to a Blue Ivy Martini or a dirty.. very good!
