I received an email from Roots stating every night specials. Tonight was a $6.00 burger and $4.00 pint When we walked in, we were handed a bucket of popcorn and shown to our table. The popcorn was good. Like fresh popped without too much salt We were greeted within minutes by our server, George. Definitely an asset to the business. Our friend asked if was old enough to work there Without a second thought he explained that he has been working every job in the restaurant since he was 13. In Indiana you can serve food but not adult beverages. He explained that he had washed dishes, cooked, etc. Did anything he was asked to do He was efficient with our order and really added to our dining experience as we enjoyed teasing him and his response. I had to express proudness of him as I had also worked as a young person Our burgers were awesome. Cooked to perfection, bun was grilled to with the roots brand seared on top. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles and secret sauce. My husband asked what was in it and George replied that it would not be a secret if he told but he could serve it on the side The draft beer menu was about 20 different types and brand. I asked for a taste and was given a juice glass full. The beer was really cold. They had a list of about 12 different beers on tap. Bar atmosphere, lots of tv's and just a fun place Will we go back, you betcha. Will we ask for George as our waiter you betcha

I was a huge fan of Scotty's Brewhouse (IYKYK), so have been anxiously waiting to try Roots for quite some time. The menu is HUGE. I'm a sucker for pimento cheese so anytime that's available I gravitate towards it. That said, I tried the 'Southern Pride' burger (two patties), which comes with pimento cheese, bacon, secret sauce, tomato jam, and a side of fries. The burger was delicious and the fries were crunchy. Quite messy and greasy, but definitely tasty. Overall, I'd definitely come back!

Was in the area and met up with a friend here. Went into the restaurant and people were friendly but they were a lil awkward since they were looking like this was their first job. The workers at the counter seemed to be high schoolers who would have rather not been working (idk maybe it's just the gen z or younger vibe going on). Whoever took us to our table didn't give us enough menus. Beer list isn't readily available along with which specials which is annoying as a consumer. We ordered the tots and it had a tiny hair in it but we didn't mention anything to the server bc I didn't think it was the end of the world but eh gross. Sydney, our server, was nice. However, we never got any side plates, so we just ate out of the dish.

Our visit to Roots this time was less than stellar. First we ordered dill chips, they were stellar. However, the rest wasn't. Steak tacos were on special. We ordered them and discovered the menu neglected to mention they were smothered in blue cheese and horseradish. The waiter neglected to mention it as well. We also ordered a fish sandwich and tots with tartar sauce. Tots tasted of salt and the tartar sauce was mostly mayo. Waiter exchanged the tacos for a jalapeño burger, which wasn't all that great. Normally the food and service has been top notch. This time it was lacking. I doubt we'll return.

Roots was an unexpected treat. We got in easily on a busy Friday night. There were six of us including two kids. They have an awesome kids menu. Drinks games out quickly and I had a delicious vodka tonic. The servers are mostly young college students that are attentive. They are unusually well staffed. Our server was very friendly. The menu specializes in a version of smash burgers. There is a good selection of healthy options as well. The food took awhile to come out, but reasonable as they were busy. The kids were able to color with complementary supplies. I had the All American burger with a single patty. The burger had a great smoke flavor with lots of lettuce and sauce. The generous helping of fries was perfectly crispy. This was a delicious meal. My husband had to e tenderloin which he said was perfectly seasoned. The kids ate their grilled cheese and fruit but were most excited about the ice cream dessert that followed. The dining room is decorated with historic and current local photos of Carmel. There is a popular outdoor door patio, but we ate inside. The noise level was pretty loud inside with people excited by the weekend. There was high energy all around. The parking lot was actually tight, but we did find parking. I look forward to returning. Roots is a great family friendly neighborhood pub.

Stopped by for lunch with some pals, and loved this place! The food was fresh, the service was great. The only thing we didn't like was the Thanksgiving Burger & Mac and Cheese- the turkey patty is very gross tasting, and the Mac and cheese is just plain awful. Please consider changing that recipe because it's terrible. Restaurant was clean and had cute decor. Would definitely come back for anything except for the Mac and cheese.

I had high expectations for this place after I heard it was owned by the same guy who owed Scotty's. Unfortunately, it wasn't as exciting as I'd hoped. The place is really cute, menu is great, but the garlic cheeseburger I got was not very exciting. It just didn't have too much to it, especially for a garlic cheeseburger. Service was good, but our waitress forgot things left and right and we had to keep asking for stuff. We had to ask for drink refills, the side of ranch we asked for upon ordering, then a second time since we both asked for it and she only brought mine. Might be back, but wouldn't be my first choice for a burger.

Still looking for the first experience we had here and it's still lacking. We chose to sit at the bar today. We watched the bartender leave popcorn pails out that past customers had eaten out and I felt bad because the new people just shoved their hands in. We both got the burger special, 1 with seasoned fries and 1 with onion rings. The onion rings were horrible, I don't know if the oil is bad but they had a burnt flavor and I couldn't eat them. My husband said to send them back but I was done by then. The burgers were good which is what saved the night for us.

    PB and PB & J
    Jennifer M.

My friend and I drove an hour from Lafayette to try Roots. I was looking forward to the PB and J with onion rings. After we ordered the waitress came back to say they were out of onion rings. I generally don't like fries or tater tots but tried the fries and was so disappointed. The burger itself was really good but the bacon was slightly chewy. My friend got a side of the tomato and cucumber salad and said it had no flavor. Because the burger itself was so good I would give it another chance if they had onion rings.

The BBQ poutine fries were so big on the tray that I felt a little ostentatious as I was carrying the tray back to my table. It felt like all of the food on my tray surely should have been going to a family. But no: All of these BBQ poutine fries were just for one gluttonous person (me). Every so often, I would get an enormous fry that was way bigger than the others. It was more like a steak fry! It was like a little baked potato. It was nice to have that variety in the appetizer (which I was treating like an entree because, again, I was eating this giant appetizer by myself without shame). One of my children opted to get the kids meal here, which is the mac & cheese with a side (he chose fries). The mac & cheese is cavatappi pasta, so it's that pleasing curly texture that kids love (my kid loved it). If you are looking for pub food, comfort food, or just plain good food, you can't go wrong with this place.

We sat at a high top table in the bar. Our server, Bailey (the bartender), was friendly and super attentive. She made recommendations and kept glasses filled. I had the Espresso Martini which came with roasted coffee beans floating on top. My cocktail went down easy. I also had a glass of the Berringer Chardonnay. The pour is generous. We shared a plate of Loaded Tots, which was wonderful. The tots are made from scratch in-house and covered with roasted bits of pork belly, cheese, a sauce and green onions. We LOVED the tots, which came out super hot. We also shared a plate of the Loaded Hummus. The plate is beautiful and colorful. The hummus is fresh made and loaded with bits of tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and is delicious on a balsamic reduction. The hummus is served with a generous portion of fresh in-house made focaccia bread which tasted amazing. The Loaded Hummus is a winner in my book. Bailey our server was fabulous. We had the crab cakes and crab & artichoke dip for apps and our lunch entrees were the fried catfish sandwich with fries and the filet with mashed potatoes and collard greens. For bevvies, we tried their rosé and red zeppelin English ale. All of it, every bit and bite, was 10/10. Food breakdown: - Crab cakes: succulent lump crap meat within a lightly battered and flash fried coating. They come on a bed of arugula with a light dressing and dipping sauce for the cakes. Super yummy! - Crab & artichoke dip: ooey gooey deliciousness, perfect balance of cheese sauce too. You don't have to search for the crab or artichokes. And the fried naan chips were sliced long and thin, and could've been called naan fries actually. Perfect companion for the dip. - Fried catfish sammich: the piece of fish was huge and the batter was good. It came on Texas toast with fixins and tartar sauce. Won't lie, the only thing I wanted for was some hot sauce. That's a me problem... just gotta have hot sauce when I eat fried fish but I didn't ask for any while I was there (they may offer it) and still very much enjoyed the sandwich. - Filet: it was great... hubby got it medium and it arrived perfectly cooked. The Demi glaze sauce was so good and so were the sides. Their collard greens are seasoned up! I said does my auntie work here?! This cuisine is so comfortingly southern and didn't disappoint. Shoutout to our friendly and helpful server, Dan... our food and drinks came out quickly and so did our to-go box. His service was truly top notch. We both enjoyed our entrees. They do have an espresso machine, so that was a huge plus to be able to order after dinner. Did I mention the escargot?!?!?!

I was invited to attend a birthday party. I asked about the place and location. I never heard of…read morethis restaurant and the name didn't impress me but I should have known from past experience to keep an open mind. Turns out one of the best surprises of the year. The restaurant is located on the second floor. The first floor has Pickleball courts. Upon walking in the restaurant it is quaint with as full view of the courts. No one seated me since it was a group gathering. I looked over the menu and identified what I wanted to order. I started with a fresh shrimp salad that turned out to be super good and fresh. It was more than enough for two people to eat. I was in the mood for wings and fries and they did not disappoint. The wings were seasoned and fried just without the burnt taste. The fries were equally good and had a unique seasoning that was pleasing to taste. One of the best kept secrets as this restaurant has not been opened long. This is great gathering for family and friends especially if you want to try pickleball and eat. I will definitely add this restaurant to my list. Sorta located in a strange area due to construction but can easily be found just be patient.

Um.. it's not really a restaurant... it's the dining option at the pickle ball club. It's like eating at a sports complex... because it's at a sport complex. The service was kind and efficient and apologetic to the obvious mistake we encountered by coming there. The French onion soup was good.. different Wedge salad was a wedge salad. Burger was ok. Only way I'd go back is if I were playing pickle ball on one of the courts in the complex. Outside of that there's no reason to go there
