Been here twice now around 3 and 430am do to my cronic panic attacks and i have to say, they have yet to let me down! I used to work at a doughnut shop and these guys nail it everytime i find myself here! BEWARE!! The doughnuts would be pretty good if they were not fried in rancid oil. NO SERIOUSLY IT IS RANCID. I imagine that they rarely change it. They should shut them down. What a dishonest business. They probably feel they can get away with this because they have been around a while. Don't waste your time or money- Randy's is 100X better!! read more

Their apple fritters looked amazing and their donut holes too (just 15 cents!) We had two donuts and two little orange juices for less than a single drink at the Starbucks next door would've been. The (baker?) guy behind the counter was nice, and the best part is all the red-winged blackbirds singing in the trees outside while you eat your breakfast. :) The only downside was my donut was pretty oily in spots. I mean it is a donut after all but yeah. read more

Donut Star is convenient because it's open 24 hours and near where I live. The donuts are ok, nothing overly exciting. Since there is no Krispy Kreme location in Irvine, I really don't have another choice. I stop here once in a while on my way to work. I like their glazed donut holes, but they NEVER seem to have any when I want to buy some! I guess as others have mentioned, I would have to come in around 1:00 am when they put out their freshly made items. Yeeeaah, probably not going to happen since I work super early and need my sleep during that time! Also, the parking lot here can be a headache during the day time, due to all the other businesses packed into this small shopping plaza. FYI, you may want to check your donuts before you leave. One morning I got to work, took my chocolate glazed donut out of the bag, and there was a dead fly on it. Eeeww!! read more

Not sure why there is poor reviews? This place is great, anytime I have ever gone in the donuts are fresh very soft and moist! It's a danger to me that I live less than a minute away since I crave their blueberry crumb donut way to much! && thank goodness they are open 24/7 ! Anyone who gives this before 4 stars is crazy haha Most donut shops I go to are dirty and filthy, over priced , and the donuts are dry and hard. These are so moist and always fresh read more

GREAT DONUTS! Very nice that they are open 24 hours, the donuts are fresh and there is a good selection. They also had a great menu for sandwiches. The donuts are very light and melt in your mouth! Definitely a new spot to get the morning office donuts. read more

I'm very unhappy with the breakfast sandwich I ordered. I've never had a problem with this location until now. I feel like the owners don't care when it comes to quality of food. I ordered a breakfast sandwich with avocado on it which came out to like 7 dollars and there's just a bunch of black spots on my avocado you really think I want to eat that when it looks like that? 24 hours. Donuts. Cravings. Yummm! I think this location has gotten better in these few years. I've lived near Donut Star for many years now, and to be honest, I would never really come here because the donuts were meh to me. But just the other day, I bought half a dozen for a trip to LA and I couldn't believe how big the donuts were, and the inside was so soft and fluffy! They were perfect! They even lasted all day, which made me even happier. The customer service isn't the best because they get busy, and they're always trying to get people in and out, and I think they expect you to just grab a donut and go. But I've seen the manager treat regulars very nicely, and I've seen him give out cronuts to customers who don't know what it is and he's just like .. "This is for you, try it!". Female worker gave me stale donuts instead of the fresh donuts I pointed at. Usually when I go at the time I did for this review (9:30 pm) I always get the fresh donuts I point at. I feel like this worker was trying to make a buck on me by selling me the old donuts despite presenting fresh donuts. Came in on a Sunday morning and WOW it was busy! Knowing a place is busy means that it's got to be good, so I was ok with waiting. I was helped pretty quickly. I ordered a half a dozen donuts for my workplace. The only CON I would say would be no special pricing for either half a dozen or dozen donuts. They are charged per donut and range from $1.50 - $2 a pop! It was a little pricey BUT they were fresh and still warm when I had one. Co-workers loved them and complimented on how DELISH they were. read more

Manager was very nice to work with, made sure donuts were clean & pretty and packaged in flat boxes so they'd stay that way. Big, fresh, fluffy donuts! Yay! My colleague brought donuts in for my birthday and given it was my birthday, I ate not one but two donuts...mostly because my first one, a maple bar, was delicious. Stopped for a dozen donuts. I asked how much was the dozen they said starting at $13.99 so I figured it was the regular not fancy ones. When she rang me up it was $18 plus change! I asked why if I only got regular donuts she said because the long ones cost more! I would've left the almost $20 a dozen but had promised work I was taking some. Wow totally impressed that an Irvine business is not only open past 8:00 pm, but it's open 24 hours! I came in around 7:45 am and my donuts were fresh! The worst thing is to walk into a donut shop with stale day-old leftovers . They sell "croinuts" for $3.50. Not too many places in OC offer cronuts/croissant-donuts so I was glad they were able to satisfy my cravings! Even better, Donut Star Irvine has Cronut holes! 0.25 each!! Four stars for the prices ! The interior isn't anything special, but they have a great patio to sit outside. I ordered an iced coffee and it was only $1.95 for a large cup. I was kind of surprised it came in a styrofoam cup, but at least it will stay cool longer ! Big donut, drink and sandwich selection but I didn't get anything. read more

Very disappointed to have very hard unfreshed donut holes, both the powdered and cinnamon sugar donut holes are not edible!!!! I was craving for some donuts tonight, but was so turned off after one bite of each flavor and because all of them were equal hard so threw away all of them. I am not about to ruin my weight for a bunch of unfreshed donuts. Will not give them business again. read more

I used to come here back in high school which was 3-4 years ago and I loved this place. I used to get donuts every week for my girlfriend and I to enjoy in class. Three years later I decided to come back here and I'm so happy they're still open. They are open 24/7 and even tho I showed up at 1am with my friend, the worker was super nice with us even though we took forever to make up our mind. (10 loooong minutes) Their donuts is VERY cheap but the quality is awesome. For 3 donuts and a chocolate milk, I got charged for less than $5. WHAT ?! Amazing ! The powdered sugar one is my favorite and my friend loves the glazed one. I would rather go to this donut place rather than other stores like dunkin or K Kreme. As long as they are open they will have my business and I'll happily come back. read more

For those times you got to jump off the healthy wagon and eat something too good to be bad; donut star has you covered. Delicious fresh donuts all the time. The classic glazed or sugar donuts are om nom nomlicious and takes me back to my childhood. If you like to try new things I recommend their croinuts: the maple bacon is a heavenly sinful take on breakfast pastries. read more

+1 star for accepting credit cards. I came in around 12am and the chocolate twist donut was not fresh at all. It tasted like old bread that has been left out with chocolate glazed on top The guy behind the counter did grant my buddy's request to heat his donuts up. Where can you find a 24 hour donut shop in Irvine?!! This is the place to come for super fresh donuts! One night my sister was coming in late and stopped to bring me a donut home, it was soo GOOD!! Something so simple yet so good, a glazed blueberry donut that was delicious! When she told me they were opened 24 hours my eyes got BIG! Especially since I'm a night owl and tend to eat on the late side :/ I told her I wanted to go in myself the next time and see all the deliciousness for myself LOL! Last week we were coming from my doctor's appointment and were in the area and I knew I was going to get some donuts! I think donuts always ease the pain of coming from the doctors! Immediately the smell drew me in! They had so many options of donuts and they all looked extremely fresh! No hard or stale donuts here unlike Dunkin' Donuts LOL! The nice young man who was working was very timid and shy but knew his donuts, I got my glazed blueberry donut in addition to some donut holes! I also picked up a plain butter croissant since I love my turkey sandwiches on croissants! Pricing is great, 7 donut holes, 1 donut, 1 croissant for $5.00! I was bummed this time since my donut wasn't as great as the first time, but my donut holes were the winner winner chicken dinner! So easy to devour them! My croissant wasn't that fresh nor flaky, my mom chopped off the ends it since they were hard and I was able to salvage the middle part LOL. Would I come back?! YES! I lived in Costa Mesa for years and used to love my weekend calorie splurges to Shirley's Bagels. After moving to Irvine, I had tried to push Shirley's out of my mind....until I discovered Donut Star carries their bagels (they even make some of the same open faced sandwiches (CTA)). They obviously don't have every flavor you could get from a Shirley's shop, but they cover off on all the basics. We've also enjoyed a few of their cronut bites (fresh and yummy). They make a large variety of donuts, cronuts and stuffed croissants. Also good to know is they are open 24 hours a day. Only thing that would make Donut Star even better is if they carried Orangina...anyone else with me on that? read more

Well done!! This is perhaps the only 24 hour place besides fast food chain restaurants like Mcdonald's, Jack in the Box, Subways that never closes!! I feel sorry for those who always had to do night shifts. At any case, service for me was exceptional so I wanted to give a big thank you for them! I only got a small choco donut alongside with a medium sized espresso. Self-service is necessary but at least the staff helped me when I didn't know how to add something in my coffee! There is an Asian woman that works at this place that may be in her 20s or 30s. This lady took my debit card and as the transaction was pending, she completely wiped the snot off her nose with her hand and forearms. I wanted to vomit. Then she handed me my card. I got a stack of napkins and got my card off the counter. I was not about to touch it with my hands. Then I sat there...in disgust....just watching her.... and she started picking the pimples on her arms and then proceeded to serve people that came in without washing her hands. People have no regard for other human beings. This is so disgusting. Other than that, all the other people that work here are chill. She needs to be fired ASAP. read more

I have been going to this donut star since 2003. Great service, patient crew, yummy donuts. Now that they have new sandwiches and other items, which I'm sure are awesome, their donuts are not as good. So sad. I bought this raisin roll and have been buying them for years. Not sure how old it is but it is dry and hard like a rock. Too bad, Andy. Miss the old good donuts. read more

My first visit and my fiance's second time. What a delight! My breakfast croissant was toasted to perfection, with a very generous amount of eggs and bacon, and the added ham, with slightly melted cheddar, so delicious! My fiance ordered the chicken salad panini, but settled for the tuna fish salad when they said they were out. I love me some donuts. You cannot go wrong with donuts. To me, a donut is a donut is a donut. I appreciate that this place is open for 24 hours, so if I ever have the midnight munchies, this is the place to go to. Conveniently located next to Starbucks, you can grab some donuts and coffee on your way to work! Sometimes, I'll get a booklet in the mail for 20% off certain shops that are part of Irvine Company shopping centers. I've seen this donut shop part of that list! read more

They should probably just stick to donuts if they can't fully support the ice cream products. If I knew now/ I wouldn't have chosen to try there for ice cream. Very unfortunate, bc we probably would have loved the ice cream - but the experience clearly trumped the product.

It was 10 min before closing & idk if the girls were just rushing to close down but one girl in particular had an attitude. There was a miscommunication / misunderstanding with the girl who took my coffee order (I had assumed the seasonal banana latte came with the foam as pictured & because she didn't ask if I wanted the foam, I didn't ask for it more-so bc she asked if I wanted the brittle on top). When they handed me my drink it was a plain banana latte with no foam or brittle. I was ignored when I tried calling for the barista until another girl followed up - however this girl had an attitude. She told me that I must not have ordered it since they ask at the register if I want foam with brittle. Explained they didn't ask. Instead she just said "sorry I'll let them know for next time". And walked away leaving me with my drink as is. Didn't offer any sort of resolution. I walked in and asked they could charge me extra for the foam. The same girl with the attitude remade my drink and handed it to me. No thank you, no sorry, nothing. First time experiencing this kind of service. Not sure if the girl is new but saw someone else share a similar experience couple days ago. Wish I would have asked for her name!

I could go on and on about them... seriously. This time we had to come try their collab with Cake Picnic, which was the golden hour grey donut. Let me tell you, it was bomb.com. The orange flavor was phenomenal and I have no notes. We also got the strawberry donut and hot chocolate with almond milk, both obviously very good as well. It was my first time getting the hot chocolate and I was honestly surprised with how yummy it was. It was not too chocolatey and not too milky. It was the perfect balance and the perfect pairing with the donuts.

They also sell mochi donuts -- this looks like a rebrand Bober Tea shop that's known for their "stir fried" boba. The brown sugar boba in our drinks tasted like the super soft and flavorful boba. My husband and I really loved the boba. But at 100% sweet, the drink was wayyy too sweet that we had to dilute it with water. Next time I would get half sweet. It had a very nice black tea flavor that shone through which is unique from other boba shops.

We have made pit stops at this OG branch of Cream Pan in Tustin over the years. The location of…read morethis well-known Japanese/French bakery was unusual in that it's isolated in a corner of the El Camino Plaza. I had expected the business to be in a more high volume area, however a benefit of their corner spot was that the parking lot had plenty of spaces. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor tables were set up along the north and east perimeters of the building. I was by myself at this latest visit, and it was close to the end of the day so the inventory was quite depleted. There was no line at all which was not a surprise. The famous Strawberry Croissants and prepackaged items were on refrigerated display to the left when you walked in. As the service counter rounded a corner, there were more fresh baked goods on display before you reached a register. Across from the registers were shelves containing bags of fresh bread products. I bought a Strawberry Croissant, a Sticky Bun, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and an Apple Croissant. The quality of the pastry dough was very good, and I could see why the Strawberry Croissant was a favorite with the customers. The croissants were light and flakey, and the powdered sugar added a delicate topping to the strawberry version. If I were to rate on just the Strawberry Croissant, then it would be five stars. My overall rating was downgraded because of the customer traffic flow. The lines can be optimized so that if you wanted to buy a six-pack of the Strawberry Croissants and/or anything prepackaged, then a separate queue should be arranged for those customers. The cafeteria trays were of limited use if you were not getting a large number of items. As you advanced in the queue, other products had to be requested from a worker behind the counter and then those were not placed on the tray. Ultimately, I think they can configure the operation to more efficiently handle the higher volume periods of the day.
