a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon
Paloma M.

Come with me to the Donut Gallery Diner located in Key Biscayne. I was in the area and wanted to get some breakfast, I checked on Yelp what was in the area and this place caught my attention. Donut Gallery is a small diner serving the classics. I ordered their fresh Orange Juice and the Key Biscayner. The Key Biscayner comes with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, ham, or sausage, with grits or hash browns. The service was nice, but a bit rushed, I was glad I looked at the menu before walking in. Overall, Donut Gallery was alright. The look of the establishment is a bit worn down and the food was okay. If I go back it will be for their orange juice.

I had an all American Breakfast. Called the Biscayne something, forget the second word lol the lady who took my order was extremely nice! Very funny and friendly. I loved the setting, very old school, not fancy at all, very Jersey diner vibes which is what I loved because I'm from Jersey. I will definitely be coming back every time I visit Key Biscayne.

Wow, this place is a gem! Laurie waited on me at the counter and she was so happy and pleasant. Ricky was cooking and made me an awesome breakfast. Over easy eggs and crispy bacon and grits....oh man were they good. Not too soft and not too lumpy. Just right. This place has a throw back feel with the decor. There are a lot of colorful locals that were there. Can't wait to come back and try lunch.

The name of the place, Donut Gallery Diner, may be a little misleading as they don't have any donuts, let alone a gallery of them. It's a little hole in the wall of a place, basically, diner counter seating though it has several tiny two table seats along the wall and an outdoor area in the parking lot. But above all, Donut Gallery Diner has been around a long time (established in 1972) and is a popular neighborhood institution; the most popular place for breakfast. And though breakfast is their basic thing and served all day long, they have a good menu of burgers, sandwiches, melts, etc. I had their Ted's Special which was really good with a sunny-side-up egg atop melted American cheese, ham, bacon, and tomato. The place is super friendly and will bring you back in time to the early diners with their snappy service and chat talk.

Loveeee the Donut Gallery. Everyone knows that it is a key Biscayne staple. I have been going here with my family for over 25 years now and they still have the same friendly faces. My go to is the Ted Special. It has all the things- egg, cheese, bacon, bread, hash browns, tomato.. you get the idea. It's probably one of the best things on their menu. Always consistent and always yummy!

We usually hit a few brunch buffets per year on average; In my opinion, the offering at Lightkeepers is simply not worth the cost vs. brunch experiences we've had at other Miami area restaurants. We arrived and were seated right away on the outdoor patio and this area was dog friendly with a few patrons there with their furry companions. The server was friendly and outgoing throughout our time here and asked if we were interested in brunch. She listed off the usual, standard brunch drink options, but there was nothing terribly unique or creative about any of them. The one interesting thing is that they had carafes and dispensers of most of the brunch drinks at the end of the buffet line, so I guess if your server wasn't bringing them fast enough, you could go and get your own. One nearby table paid their tab and cashed out following their meal, but continued going back to those dispensers to serve themselves additional beverages before leaving. The buffet itself was solid, featuring most of the usual American-fare items one might expect and the amount of options and presentation was good, but really wasn't anything highly impressive or noteworthy, especially considering the pricepoint - which was $373 with included service charge and tax for 2 people. For brunch, I think I prefer the following: Prime Fish - Nearly the same unlimited food and beverage selections as Lightkeepers in a beautiful setting, but about 1/2 the price. Quinto in Brickell - Cheaper, also unlimited food and drink (though not buffet-style), with many more unique and creative bottomless drinks available vs. Lightkeepers. LaMar - Costs nearly as much as Lightkeepers, but more creative food options, incredible presentation, many more creative drinks vs. Lightkeepers and one can also request nearly anything they wish from the bar for the 2 hour bottomless time period.

The French Dip was absolutely delicious, packed with flavor and perfectly prepared. Every bite was satisfying, and the service was just as impressive as the food. A cozy café, delicious food, and exceptional hospitality are a winning combination. Merlon, thank you for taking such great care of us! I'll definitely be back soon to explore more of the menu. On our first visit, they were practically out of their pastries at 11am on a SUNDAY. So we only had their coffee. I was blown away on how good it was. They really know what they're doing. Service was a bit off putting. I was standing at the register and the workers were talking amongst themselves non chalantly. Their coffee though merited enough for a second visit. This time they were actively baking and bringing out pastries. We enjoyed their coffee and had some pastries. This time a lady took my order and she was super friendly. Croissant: perfect. Flaky. Soft. Almond chocolate croissant: my bf had this one. It had chocolate and some kind of almond filling inside. He loved it! I'm pretty vanilla so I thought it was okay. Like I said, I'll be happy to support this business when we come and visit biscayne. See you soon!

The aesthetics weren't all there, and the prices were very high. Also, good luck finding parking. I ordered a matcha and the brisket sandwich. The bread had a crispy outer crust with a soft interior, the meat was cooked to perfection, the red pepper relish added a sweet richness and juiciness when mixed with the aioli, and the cheese added good flavor without overpowering the sandwich. Overall, an amazing sandwich in my opinion. I would definitely return just for that sandwich, but at $20, it would be more of an occasional treat than a frequent meal choice.

Also, when we arrived here most all the outdoor tables for the surrounding restaurants were full, while the tables at Craft were empty for the most part. This Craft location isn't large - the interior of the restaurant is especially small with just a walk-up counter and a few smaller tables. Most of their seating is on the patio area in front of the entrance, and they were happy to move a few tables together to accommodate our group of 6. We each ordered a cocktail to start, which were well-made, and then we ordered our main courses. Those who got pizzas said they were really good. I had the milanesa caprese and it was also good, though the caesar salad I ordered for my side had large chunks of both tomato and bacon, and the white dressing definitely wasn't caeser and was relatively flavorless. While I'd give our overall experience on that night 4 stars and I'd note that service was attentive throughout our time here, there are other restaurants I'd likely patronize both in this plaza and the few adjacent ones before I'd consider returning to Craft for dinner. That said, I'd definitely come here as a solid spot for breakfast or a quick lunch.
