a breakfast of pancakes, eggs, and bacon
Paloma M.

Come with me to the Donut Gallery Diner located in Key Biscayne. I was in the area and wanted to get some breakfast, I checked on Yelp what was in the area and this place caught my attention. Donut Gallery is a small diner serving the classics. I ordered their fresh Orange Juice and the Key Biscayner. The Key Biscayner comes with 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, bacon, ham, or sausage, with grits or hash browns. The service was nice, but a bit rushed, I was glad I looked at the menu before walking in. Overall, Donut Gallery was alright. The look of the establishment is a bit worn down and the food was okay. If I go back it will be for their orange juice.

I had an all American Breakfast. Called the Biscayne something, forget the second word lol the lady who took my order was extremely nice! Very funny and friendly. I loved the setting, very old school, not fancy at all, very Jersey diner vibes which is what I loved because I'm from Jersey. I will definitely be coming back every time I visit Key Biscayne.

Wow, this place is a gem! Laurie waited on me at the counter and she was so happy and pleasant. Ricky was cooking and made me an awesome breakfast. Over easy eggs and crispy bacon and grits....oh man were they good. Not too soft and not too lumpy. Just right. This place has a throw back feel with the decor. There are a lot of colorful locals that were there. Can't wait to come back and try lunch.

The name of the place, Donut Gallery Diner, may be a little misleading as they don't have any donuts, let alone a gallery of them. It's a little hole in the wall of a place, basically, diner counter seating though it has several tiny two table seats along the wall and an outdoor area in the parking lot. But above all, Donut Gallery Diner has been around a long time (established in 1972) and is a popular neighborhood institution; the most popular place for breakfast. And though breakfast is their basic thing and served all day long, they have a good menu of burgers, sandwiches, melts, etc. I had their Ted's Special which was really good with a sunny-side-up egg atop melted American cheese, ham, bacon, and tomato. The place is super friendly and will bring you back in time to the early diners with their snappy service and chat talk.

Loveeee the Donut Gallery. Everyone knows that it is a key Biscayne staple. I have been going here with my family for over 25 years now and they still have the same friendly faces. My go to is the Ted Special. It has all the things- egg, cheese, bacon, bread, hash browns, tomato.. you get the idea. It's probably one of the best things on their menu. Always consistent and always yummy!

We are passionate about following expert award winning chefs so are critical of service, presentation and quality of food. And we travel around the world experiencing flavors of the world. Our recent experience at Novecento was spot on! Checking off all the boxes (as Paul Hollywood would say on the British Bake off ). We took advantage of the '34th anniversary lunch / dinner menu". A great 3 course meal at almost half the price and to top it off the '50% off Tuesday' special on the fabulous wine selections. My burrata and my husband's Ceviche = fabulous and generous. All 3 of us ordered NY Steak, again spot on - cooked as ordered, and a generous portion, and flavorful. I rarely order mashed potatoes and not only did I eat mine I had to help my aunt with hers too! The deserts- also something I generally skip - I couldn't resist; excellent Flan, outstanding Crepes with Dulce de Leche with spectacular vanilla ice cream. And the Wine!!! Absolutely amazing. Thank God my husband is quite a connoisseur of wines. It was fabulous to the last drop. Luis Perez was our waiter and he was truly focused on our any everyone's needs. In a word everything. The decor is not awful itself, but feels a little industrial, with televisions plunked over the walls. But the service and the food just take it to a different level of bad. Our waitress hadn't the faintest clue to what she was doing. She asked how well done we wanted our carpaccio. She so clearly didn't know what she was doing, I had her recite our orders back to me. How could she mess that up? Good question. How about serving all of the food at one time, appetizers and main course? We had carpaccio, supposedly Argentine beef; a pancho; a filet mignon; and Milanezza Martin. Starting with the semi edible, the fillet was not good, the presentation was awful, stock dry on its own on a black plate, with mashed potatoes in a separate ramekin on the side, and the sad chimichurri sauce also in a separate ramekin, but you could swallow it. Everything else was a disgrace. The milanezza was junk they got out of the fridge and microwave before they planted it on the table. My daughter found it literally non-edible, and she is the kindest of diners. She said it tasted like the fridge... A kind way of putting it The pancho was a profoundly bland hot dog in a stale bun. But the "carpaccio" took pride of place. Simultaneously part-frozen and decaying beef, of which my daughter took a bite, and then was stuck finding a polite way to spit it into a napkin. North of inedible. All of this terrible food was put onto our table at one time, about three minutes after we ordered it, because obviously it had just been defrosted in the microwave. And to add insult to injury, the waitress came by, with a toothy, TGIF smile, and said how are we doing? Bloody awful is the only answer. In a move that clearly reflects where the restaurant is at, I noticed they put 19% automatically on the bill for "service". Then they had the cojones to ask for more of a tip when you sign electronically on the tableside device. I looked at the waitress incredulously with raised eyebrows, and that was that. Never again.

What a great opportunity to get to know a small business with a huge heart! Allegra was on top of every single detail & everyone involved in making this event a pleasure left me anxious for the next one! So pleasantly surprised with the bites provided but the selection of wines & sommeliers at hand was SO impressive. The true testament to this event was the amount of times we heard Allegra's name being mentioned over & over again by the wine reps at each table... "Allegra's own private picks" or "Allegra's top choice" or "Allegra's favorite". This is how you know a small business will continue to succeed - when those that are there representing their own brands know the owners first hand! Beautiful staff, beautiful day, beautiful set up! Just beautiful. And thank you for having Aldo there representing Gin No 3 & Macallan. What a special treat to taste such an amazing whiskey like the Macallan Litha. I think the food offered this year was also better. They had a great variety and a good amount which was great given the amount of wines on the tasting menus. Curated by the very knowledgeable owner and sommelier Alegra. I don't personally know her but her staff's adoration of her only ingratiated the event that much more. It sounded like she really took time and care into curating this lovely event. Overall there were 16 tables with anywhere from 4-10+ wines to try from all around the world. I think it's so cute how they also have a scavenger hunt and loved that the first table was a spin-the-bottle. Very creative. The special prices for the wines were also a great touch along with tags describing the wines as, "old school," or "delicioso." The selection of wines in the store was just as impressive as the ones being showcased for the event. All in all, this is a great establishment that also holds wonderful events.

Chug's is the kind of place that screams comfort for food. There is nothing fancy here. Just beautiful, indoor and outdoor seating in a diner type atmosphere with excellent food and even better service. I must admit that, even in major cities like New York and Miami the parking gods smile on me. As is strangely usual for me, as I drove up to the restaurant on a busy Sunday morning, someone pulled out only steps away from my destination, leaving me a space to pull into. Walked up to the restaurant since they do not take reservations on Sunday mornings and put my name in. I was informed of the wait, which was not a problem because it was a beautiful day to walk around. I peruse the neighborhood, seeing other lovely restaurants and shops before being informed that my table was ready quite quickly. It was a gorgeous day to sit outside, but the first table that opened up was indoors, and it was kind of nice to enjoy the ambience of an old style diner. Perused the menu, which was quite nice, but told I could only order from the brunch menu, which was a little bit restrictive. We ordered La Completa with smoked salmon, a pancake with Nutella and bananas, and a milkshake and french fries for dipping pleasure. Everything was excellent. Service was over the top good. Really enjoyed it and will be back. I always feel I have to explain why I leave four stars instead of five at a restaurant that I love. In this case it is specifically because there was nothing creative about the pancake. They start with an exquisite preparation, but do nothing to make it extraordinary. For example, served with fruit compote and nuts or ice cream and sliced fruit or any other creative arrangement could really elevate the dish, making it both picture worthy and enticing to return to try more options. Despite that minor criticism, I really love this place and will be back and even try other meals here. Oh and don't forget to hold my parking space.
