The chocolate chip pancakes were fluffy, warm, and delicious, and the corned beef hash was cooked perfectly. After feasting on their bottomless coffee, not the fancy stuff but basic American coffee with cream, I enjoyed a rather sizable plate of eggs Benedict on two English muffins with a nice spread of hollandaise as well as a good helping of home fries. I originally was going to get the French toast to go, but these fluffy loaves with maple syrup and blueberries were too good to pass up! I had also ordered a glass of orange juice though per my preference it could've had a little more pulp.

To get your food at the Glasshouse you check out the menu and order at the outside window. They give you one of those plastic squares that vibrate when your food is ready and then pick up your order at the inside window. You can then eat inside or out. It was blazing hot out and the line was long but the staff handled it well and kept the line moving forward. They have a nice variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, drinks, and desserts. Prices are a reasonable $8 to $14 for a sandwich. They even had a board with some specials for museum day. I prefer to eat inside because I love their dining room not to mention the air conditioning. The whole back glass wall of the dining area looks onto the Wings of the Tropics butterfly garden and it's beautiful. While we were eating we got to watch numerous butterflies and we even saw the hummingbird flit around the flowers. The ceiling has a gorgeous Chihuly glass sculpture hanging from it. For lunch we shared the croque-monsieur and the La Basque's club sandwich with grilled chicken and bacon. Both were delicious. For dessert we had one of the large chocolate chip cookies that had three kinds of chocolate in it. All of that plus two sodas came to $28. Instead, that area was given to another party that had not been waiting, while we were placed at the booth. After our children were already settled and we had gotten situated, we were then told that our seating arrangement was apparently a problem and they wanted us to move. What made the situation especially uncomfortable was that the same setup seemed perfectly acceptable at other tables. As a bigger person, the whole interaction honestly left me wondering whether my size was part of the reason our table suddenly became an issue. The service afterward only made things worse. We felt like we were being treated as an inconvenience or being penalized for something, rather than welcomed as paying customers. I came in simply wanting to enjoy a nice breakfast with my family and left frustrated and upset. There were multiple opportunities for the staff to handle this situation better, especially considering they knew the size of our party before seating us. Unfortunately, between the 40-minute wait, the seating situation, the way it was handled, and the poor service afterward, we will not be returning.
