I got the croissant in Miami & it was delicious, I love that they have salad as a side option for breakfast. Everything was very fresh and the guava jam was the perfect addition! My husband has the country scramble and loved it. He paired it with their homemade hot sauce that was super fresh and tasty. I had a latte with oat milk that was perfect & my husband said the american coffee was also a very good brew, low acidity. This place was a small, cute spot, and the staff here is extremely friendly! They were constantly checking in, saying hi and bye, and super sweet and kind to my friend's baby. The food was good, but I wasn't crazy about it. I did really enjoy the iced coffee though. I went on a Saturday afternoon, and I was able to get street parking right in front. Small breakfast-lunch place closes around 3pm daily right next to the Coral Gables Code Enforcement building. When you come in to order do not attempt to sit first & look thru menu as whoever is upfront gets very upset. The food is excellent tasting with large portions and parking is adequate as well service to table. The food at this restaurant is consistently excellent--Chef Sucre is incredibly talented, and the quality is amazing. Unfortunately, the front-of-house experience does not match the excellence coming out of the kitchen. The woman who manages the orders, and handles the checkout (I believe she is the chef's wife and owner) provides poor customer service. She comes across as unfriendly, and lacks simple customer service and customer experience skills which is disappointing when such great food is overshadowed by an uncomfortable and unwelcoming front-of-house experience. My situation was simple , I ordered takeout since I know food often can take its time, and I was pressed for time due to appointments. I asked if I can sit outside in one of the empty tables to eat my food that I just purchased. She simply said no because other customers might get the idea that it's OK to do that. I get it if their restaurant was full and folks were waiting for tables, but when there were seven open tables, I didn't think it could be an issue in the 15 minutes that I would take to eat it. Chef Sucre didn't live up to the hype for me . I went in with high expectations and it was not met . I ordered an a la carte breakfast that consisted of scrambled eggs , veggies , turkey sausage and a whole wheat baguette of the sorts that by itself was 6 bucks which is still irking me . My meal was about 24 with tax when I added my latte. My scrambled eggs with veggies came out with way too much fluid underneath , possibly from thawing the veggies or the tomato that wasn't accounted for . This created a sappy soggy egg texture issue along with a visual issue that eventually joined the flavor issue party. I was making this sorta breakfast in my teens and it's not something I'd want to revisit . The turkey sausage was the best part of my meal. I'm not even sure it's made in house as this is a cafe , so I'll refrain from giving too much credit . Finally, as for the latte , it had a huge layer of foam that must have been about two inches deep and was ok when finally making contact with the surface .Honestly, what was most impressive about this place was the service of the lady taking the orders . She literally ran from behind the counter to pick up a utensil that someone dropped . She was phenomenal in her leading and her service . It's a cute restaurant, with good coffee, and overall food. But the staff is very rude and obstinate. I've ordered medium eggs hundreds of times, and I've never seen them essentially raw on top. And they wouldn't cook them more, or make new ones, without me paying. Most restaurants are willing to just give you new eggs or at least cook them more. They cited cross contamination, but they could've washed the pan after. It's pretty ridiculous. read more

While in Coral Gables for an appointment I ran into this venue! Wow! It took me back to my times in Paris. Had the Croque Madame and it was the best one I've had here in Miami. We stumbled upon this place as we were going to the Saturday market in Coral Gables. Walked in and was greeted so kindly and happy by the girl at the register. Food was excellent, my wife had the avocado toast and I add this concoction of potato ships, truffle oil, eggs and prosciutto. I ate the entire plate and so did my wife. Homemade lemonade was tart but not too much. I do think the place could do better as a full dining experience restaurant and not order at the front and get served, however it seems to work. The first thing that attracted me to the cafe was the staff, from the moment you enter you are greeted, regardless of how busy it is. You are also thanked before you leave for visiting. Now the food, ohh I have so much to say about the food, the Mac and Cheese hands-down the best cheesiest. If I had it my way I would visit every Tuesday, because Taco Tuesday. There are daily specials and you guessed it, Tuesday's are for Tacos. Chef if you are reading things, the shrimp tacos are a must. Also they make fresh guac, and you will want to take some home. I try all the time. And I cant finish without the honorary mentioning of the turkey sandwich. This is the best turkey sandwich I have ever had, simple but delicious. I came pre-COVID for brunch and more recently after reopening to sit outside. Both times I had good experiences! It's a French inspired bistro with a little Miami flare. That means you can find both a Croque Madame and a Cuban sandwich on the menu. They have an extensive breakfast menu (served all day), as well as sandwiches, salad, soup, and heartier dishes like pasta. For lunch, they offer combos of sandwiches, soup and salad, which is nice. Everything I've tried has been tasty and it's all prepared fresh! Definitely don't miss their hot sauce which they make in house. I also appreciate their drink menu which has everything from coffee and tea, to wine and beer. They currently have a handful of tables outside that are appropriately distanced. You can also order for takeout or delivery. The staff was wearing masks and gloves, and hand sanitizer was readily available, so I felt safe. There's never a problem finding parking. It must be a credit to how the good the food is here that I've been here so many times and yet never remember to take a picture, since I'm too busy scarfing it down. They have a perfect sized menu, not too big and not too small and everything I've had here is great. The service is also excellent and the farmers breakfast has a very generous serving of bacon, extra points for that. If you love coffee as much as I do, make sure to try the espresso cube latte. I take it with almond milk, doesn't even need sugar. They have a rotation of muffins and I've tried a few but always come back to the Nutella banana nut option. Mmmmm. In terms of Covid practices, the staff wears gloves and masks and the tables are appropriately distanced, patrons required masks when entering and any time unless sitting down and eating. read more

This review is for the service staff and the owner for that matter. I stopped by today before 3pm. Doors were open and there were people inside. There were 3-4 employees chatting by the coffee machines. One of the girls said sorry, we just closed. This small coffee place is a few blocks from Starbucks so I was trying to support small instead of the big Starbucks franchise. I was going to place a large order for 8 people. Located in Coral Gables, Im sure rent is not cheap. I can't speak for the quality of the food or drinks but a cafe in the middle of Miami on a cool day closes before 3pm?? Really?? Are they trying to make money or is this a hobby I wonder. Then they complain when the big franchises eat them up. It would have taken them 10 more minutes to serve a new customer, give a good experience and get the sale. And 3 more people walked in after me and walked right out. Small business need to take all the opportunities given and be more flexible IMO. read more

Chef Sucre was our 2nd try at brunch in the Coral Gables area during the build-up/anticipation to Hurricane Dorian. We found this place to be one of the few that were actually open and there was plenty of metered parking right in front. While browsing the menu, we noticed the low prices here. Most menu items were priced well under $10.. very affordable. I ordered a Farmer's Breakfast which was pretty straight forward with 2 eggs, bacon, and 2 pieces of white toast.. a very standard breakfast. My companion order the Sucre's Egg Souffle which was the better meal out of the two. I liked the tasty egg souffle and equally as good butter croissant. Yes.. we went halfsies and shared both meals which were fairly average-sized portions and definitely not American-sized portions. Someone nearby to us ordered a Croque Madame which looked like a larger and more filling portion. Overall, this place is great and with helpful, amicable service. One thing to note here is that there is no bathroom available, but one of the servers kindly pointed me in the right direction to find the nearest one just outside of here. read more

Had been wanting to visit this French bistro for a while now. Walking in it seemed to be quite small but very inviting. The decor was upbeat and bustling with those in for a quick lunch. I ordered their egg soufflé and my friend ordered an egg and cheese croissant. Keep in mind, the egg soufflé takes a solid 15 minutes to make fresh. Both dishes were beautifully prepared with garnished tomato slices on the side. Each bite of the flaky croissants melted in our mouths and the eggs were excellently prepared. To end our meal, we shared a warm chocolate croissant drizzled with chocolate and powdered sugar. Many restaurants and bakeries have a tendency to top their croissants with Nutella, however we enjoyed Chef Sucre opted for a chocolate drizzle. To compliment our meals, we both ordered cappuccinos. All in all, the food was fantastic. The service was prompt. And the environment was inviting. Definitely give props to this chef, who btw does and serve you personally. Decided to check this place out after my morning run. I was greeted the moment I walked in which was very nice. The lady taking my order was very polite and made me feel welcomed. I decided to go with a smoothie for my drink and their Egg Soufflé. It took some time for the Egg soufflé to come out but the lady taking my order had let me know ahead of time. Great and cute cafe located in the middle of Coral Gables. Had to give it a shot with it's 4.5 stars and see what it's all about. Found it pretty quickly. There is a large parking lot right behind the cafe. You do have to pay for parking but the cafe is quick so no need to pay for 3 hours. Walked in and was greeted immediately by the server. She explained you order st the counter and then take a seat. Decided to go for the croque madame and a macchiato. Never had croque madame before. So thanks for popping that cherry! Coffee and my regular water came out quick. I sat on the counter although they have outside seating and many indoor tables. Perhaps not for a big group but maybe up to 6 people can come in. Got the croque madame. It was delicious. I don't know what it's supposed to taste like but it was great. Every time I cut into the bread some of the sauce would press out of the melted cheese on top of the bread. Sounds good? It was! The crust was crispy and the inside of the bread was soft. Topped with the egg I would dip the bread in. They had another croque entree which I want to try. For the road just because it looked so good I got the chocolate croissant.
