Although I have been coming to the beach in Key Biscayne my entire life, I had somehow never known this incredible gourmet market even existed! Last weekend, my boyfriend and I stopped by Flour & Weirdoughs for sandwiches but they were only serving breakfast. WOMP, WOMP. As we were defeatedly walking back to the car, we noticed The Golden Hog. I was absolutely amazed at the sheer size & variety in this epicurean emporium! Aisles after aisles of specialty products, fresh produce, salads of every kind, a grill, a sandwich counter, a fresh juice bar!!! Literally anything & everything you could want. While it took awhile for our sandwiches to be made (Miguelito, no bacon for me & Roast Beef for my guy), it was understandable. This place was PACKED (& loud, but jubilantly so)! Seemed like a locals spot where large families & couples were gathered and everyone seemed to know everyone else. In any case, each sandwich was made with the freshest, highest quality ingredients & with SUCH care (i literally watched the lovely man constructing the sandwich delicately placing each individual thin slice of avocado on my sandwich like it was his pride & joy) & it made the sandwich THAT much better! Will definitely be coming back very soon!

THIS is the pathetic charred and badly roasted $217 turkey that The Golden Hog finally delivered!!

BEWARE, NOT ACCEPTABLE: Thanksgiving Turkey ordered for 12-12:30pm delivery but was NOT DELIVERED UNTIL after 3:00pm!!! I had PAID EXTRA for specific delivery. Order #41257. A badly roasted turkey with BURNT sections was finally delivered

What a pleasant store, come cafe, come restaurant. We tried their coffees, a pastry and some of their breads. All were delicious. You can also order gourmet food to go or also sit in and sample full blown meals to include steaks, lobster etc. I recommend. Be noted though it is not cheap.

I love this place. Delicious sandwiches and when you go during the holidays, it's overflowing with all kinds of treats. It's on the pricier side, but they have great selections.

The Golden Hog is a super cute local market on Key Biscayne. From the meats and cheeses, to prepared foods, wine and beer etc - you can find a slew of delicious eats and drinks. I visited recently and picked up a sandwich and pasta salad. The sandwich was huge, you can most definitely split it with someone. I loved browsing the aisles as they offer a mix of every day essentials and some luxury splurges. There is a small area for indoor seating, too. This is the perfect spot to pick up some beach day essentials.

Esta Hamburguesa Signature está de locos. Ven con suficiente hambre, es gigante a un precio que da risa ($15). Me sentí atendido por su personal como restaurante de 5 estrellas. Bien por ellos. Vendré próximamente por la parrilla.

You know when they say what went wrong? Well, almost everything was wrong with this place. It started with me going into the driveway the wrong way. Thanks to the nasty guy in the golf cart by showing me how much of an idiot I was. Did many 3 point turns to get into gear and find the correct entrance. If you are claustrophobic, you are in for a treat. The place is packed. I felt so out of place that my Target T-shirt and my Walmart jeans weren't good enough for the high end dressed clientele. If you like to be pushed around, again this is the place for you. No one says excuse me. They push you out of the way. The only person who treated me like I wasn't chopped liver was the cheese monger. When my daughter and I left, again, you do not get the right of way when backing out of your spot. The entitled BMW moron about hit my backside because he thought he had the right of way. Oh, wait a minute. Maybe I was in the wrong for coming here to begin with.

A shot in the past as i worked on this beautiful island in the past. I love coming here then and now its such a cool market place . Design for high end clients but priced in a way anyone can afford all these delicious products and foods. We got the Carpaccio beef wow i cant get it at a restaurant but i got it here and the vacuum sealed it for me! It was very delicious yummy! Lots of good oils and baked goods and a fantastic deli . We got probably the best croissants i have eaten since Paris . The cheese section is crazy and love the mortadella long sausage style packing and the chunks of Parmesan wow it actually melts in your mouth. We got some Brazilian bread wow so good there is so much here good for a trip and youll be there a while. Good social distancing and staff is nice and helpful. Love the mask thank you! I will return to have lunch its a treat there.

Golden Hog is a KB icon. A high end Deli/Market for all your gourmet, quality food needs. You can find a lot of stuff here that may not necessarily be at your big name grocery store. This place is good to visit, even if only for window shopping. Highly recommend their sandwiches though, especially the golden hog. The pork with onions is truly out of this world good!! The cheese section is not to be missed with lots of international gems. Enjoy with a wine or two! :)

I appreciate not being asked for a tip when I paid for my croissant. Other places need to take notice.

Key to Health has amazing smoothies. I've been trying to stay away from soy lately (their protein…read morepowder contains soy) so I often bring in Vega or hemp protein and they oblige me to make a smoothie with it. I would make it at home but it always tastes better there because of the temperature they keep the fruit at. They offer a selection of raw foods and raw food platters. They have a great selection of cookies, food bars and chips. I often wander in and always find something I haven't tried before. Ask them what's new that they like and they'll give you an honest opinion, or refer to a product you like and ask for a similar recommendation and they always have one to throw at you. They have a good selection of vitamins and are very knowledgeable about what you should be looking for and what's good for you specifically, which always makes me really happy. I really enjoy when you go into a health food store and they not only know what they are talking about but have enough knowledge to help you with your individual needs in a non-promotional way (i.e. whatever is the current hip company/product they're pushing or what they need to move off the shelf the most- I hate places that do that). When they don't have an answer, or even when they do, they often double check it online. They also do that for me with random questions about products they offer. There's a good selection of actual food products such as flower, soy/rice milk and other staples, and they have a decent drink and frozen food section with several things you can't find at Whole Foods or other similar establishments in Miami. They also have a little book shelf that I've occassionally picked up a good read from. It's a pleasant looking shop that makes you feel comfortable and at ease, a true small business, a place that I can honestly enjoy supporting.

I'm a sucker for a shop offering healthier options of food/goods. The store was stocked with lots of great looking items and had a nice array of good for you bath products. To my delight there was a lone bottle of Skin Trip, a childhood fave. Bought that and a DELISH healthy low cal cookie. Finally the couple that were there (owners I presume) were as warm and friendly as can be. I'll be making it my business to visit this store again! Worth leaving the beach for this gem!

Alright, here's my updated take…read more I'll start with the good, because there is some. The location of this Fresh Market is great. Parking is right in front, super easy, no stress. And when you first walk in, the place actually looks nice. It feels like it should be a solid shopping experience. But that feeling does not last long. I know there have been complaints about food temps and standards, and after going back, I can say this clearly. The problem is not the store itself, it is the people running it. That is where everything starts to fall apart. I went back Monday night, my second visit since that brutal local newspaper article. I had just finished a workout and wanted to grab a steak. Quick in and out. That was the plan. Instead, I walked up to the meat department and just stopped. It was rough. Not a little messy. I am talking straight up dirty, disorganized, and honestly kind of gross. Definitely not what you expect when you are about to buy something you plan to eat. What really gets me is this. One of the employees there also works at another nearby supermarket that is known for having high standards. So she knows what right looks like. This is not a training issue. It is a nobody is checking, nobody cares situation. And it shows. The rest of the store felt the same way. Dingy, a little grimy, just not taken care of. The nice layout cannot save it when everything else feels off. I ended up walking out. No steak, no patience left. It is frustrating because this place has potential. Great location, nice setup, all the pieces are there. But right now it feels like nobody is really running the place. Maybe I will give it another shot around October. Hopefully something changes. Right now, it is just not it.
