Everything about this place is great. I went around 7:30pm and so the empanadas were freshly made, which took about 10 minutes but definitely worth the short wait. Cute little store, no indoor seating. Inexpensive and very delicious! All empanadas are labeled so you'll always know what you're eating when you get a variety, no more guessing! Spinach 8/10 Is a creamy blend of spinach, melted cheese, and gently sautéed onions. The texture is spot on: the spinach is soft but not mushy, the cheese rich without being overpowering, and the onions add just the right hint of sweetness. Then there's the boiled egg--pleasantly unexpected! It doesn't make the empanada taste like egg but it definitely adds to the experience. Malbec 10/10 My favorite! Juicy meat empanada made with pieces of beef rather than ground beef. Extremely tender almost like a stew that just melts in your mouth. The pastry soaks up the seasoning and juices of the meat without it being soggy. Spicy beef 8/10 I can't handle too much spicy but I do tend to push my limits. The spicy beef really isn't too spicy but definitely has a kick to it. Nutella and brownie 10/10 If you like chocolate YOU WILL LOVE THESE! They are definitely filling but soooo good! With plenty of choices, cheeses, Malbec beef, chicken, and many others; The Empanada's does not let you down. I ordered a beef, chicken, sweet corn, pulled pork, and Oreo. That's right, they have dessert empanadas! I was skeptical about the Oreo flavor but it was surprisingly delicious! They're located in Key Biscane and the store itself doesn't have a seating area, just a heads up. The lady at the front was helpful and helped me pick the flavors. Love this empanada place!! It has become my go-to. They have such a nice selection of different flavors and what I love about them is that the outside part of the dough tells you which is which. The chicken has "chicken" written on the outside, the caprese has "caprese" written in the outside and so on (I'll attach a picture). The filling to dough ratio is good and I love that I haven't experienced an empty empanada. As for flavors, my favorite is the Malbec beef. It has nice chunks of beef, mushrooms, and sauce inside the empanada. Quite the opposite of a dry empanada I'm sure we've all experienced before. The empanadas had a nice size and the filling-to-dough ratio was excellent. The dough is very tasty as well, although it lacked crispiness and flakiness - a lot of this has to do with the fact that they bake their empanadas in batches instead of to order. Baking them to order would be a game-changer for them since the dough would be crispy and the fillings would taste even better. I found out about this place on instagram by way of a debutante who was raving about the their food pics. After I took a look and I decided the next time I was going to go Habana that I would pop in and check it out. Well opportunity struck when I had to meet another debutante at Stephanies Crepes. Once the platonic enjoyment was over I headed over to Key Biscayne to check out The Empanadas. Looking over the menu I already knew what I wanted, spicy chicken, caprese, and onion & cheese, which they had all three. They also had a bunch of dipping sauces to choose from, which I think were $1 each, but there was no way I was leaving this place without chimichurri sauce. I waited until I was driving along the non-lit forested part of long drive to exit Key Biscayne so the surrounding environment could make my empanadas more succulent. The spicy chicken which I was most desirous of was a disappointment, it lacked depth of flavor and was little more than a peppery concoction. The chimichurri sauce didn't help it at all, as the sauce itself was a smorgasbord of non-complementing ingredients. The sauce tasted like one of the mannequin blondes from FOX news made it. The caprese and the onion and cheese were divine, full of flavor and luscious to the taste. Not having a palatable dipping sauce to go with the emapanadas is like being massaged by an attractive woman with calluses on her hands, that's no bueno. read more

I am sad to say that I have never tried an empanada before We chose this location because it had far less reviews than GoGoFresh in Miami Beach. We figured that was due to location only. But also because the ingredient list in each one seemed far superior than of GoGos. Not disappointed in the least. The flavors were bold and the pastry was nice. Was traveling to Bill Baggs State Park and was recommended to go here (and place a very large order for everyone who did the recommending as well). Now I see why!
