Me and my boyfriend have been to a lot of places to eat at and have never experienced what we experienced before at this restaurant. Me, my boyfriend and his mom decided to go here one day because my boyfriend and his mother both love this place. As soon as we sat down we waited a lil while and our server came to us. We all looked at each other when she walked off and realized something wasn't right. We all smelled what could only be described as a strong smell of marijuana. We noticed her eyes were very red as well. When the girl came back with our drinks her eyes were still very red and she was acting weird and unusually happy. We all also could tell she smelled like heavy perfume and we hadn't smelled that before. Anyway long story short it made all of us very uncomfortable. We could of chosen to leave after what we saw with our waitress but my boyfriend felt so bad because he knows how much his mother loved this place. But when we all left we were left so disgusted and told each other we are never coming back to this place every again. This kind of behavior is uncalled for and very unacceptable. You don't expect that at this kind of establishment especially considering their food is not exactly cheap. To give you an idea of how bad this company is as a whole I reached out to the company shortly after and never got any kind of response. No sorry no nothing. This place was so great from the SERVICE to the FOOD the I had to create a yelp account just to leave a review for future for customers. Ate there on a Friday afternoon after checking in at the Courtyard next door to it. We had Megan as our waitress and she pretty much made us fall in love with the place. I do a lot of traveling and I have to say of all the places I've been hands down Megan provided me with the best restaurant experience I've ever had. The next day I tried another seafood place down the street and was so disappointed that after we had already ate we went straight back to Don's. The owner Jacob and manager along with the hostess, the twins, and Alexis provided with the same awesome experience from the day before and great food. I went to Don's with my family and really enjoyed it. The Zydeco shrimp were good and I would totally get them again. Our waiter Steven was kind and helpful. The oysters my mother ordered were a bit overcooked, but he replaced them for her very quickly. In addition, we had a large group and he was able to divide our check quickly and correctly. read more

By far the worst restaurant I've been to in a very long time. The expectations we're high, but the let down started when we first walked in the place. Staying at the Marriott less than a block away, we walked over. The employees we enjoying a leisurely afternoon together around the hostess stand. Very slow to move, felt more like a distraction than a guest. Even worse was the food. It seems like a very dated menu with little attention to quality. The cold food was warm and the hot food was cold and mushy. After complaining to the waitress , who really could care less, she brought the bill over, laid it on the table and turned without a word. Nor did d she say anything when she returned with the credit card and paperwork. An update for Don's......we returned to Don's recently and if was much better. Me Brandon, Miss Nicole Plus our server Erica made this visit much more pleasant. We both had some nice seafood appetizers and steaks for dinner. Went to celebrate father's day this evening with my family. The section that we were put in was extremely hot, if I wanted to sweat I would have requested to be seated outside. A couple came in with two shitzu "service" dogs. The dogs were on top of the table eating out of the same plates we as diners eat out of and drinking water out of the glasses that we also drink from. When I brought this to the attention of the manager she simply stated that she didn't see it!!! I refuse to ever eat at Don's in Covington again... a service dog is NOT supposed to be on the table eating or drinking out of the same dishes that all diners are using... After a day at the New Orleans School of Cooking and a tour at the Anita Brewery, we were looking for authentic local cuisine. After asking locals and checking here on Yelp, we found Don's. Bottom line... Fantastic. We ate like royalty because the menu is so good. We started with Boduin balls and Jacked up shrimp. Both cooked and spiced to make your mouth happy. We followed with Seafood Gumbo...this made our taste buds dance, perfectly seasoned with a good amount of seafood. Next was Crawfish Etouffee and catfish Acadian ( it comes fried but I suggest ordering the catfish blackened). These dishes were succulent and bursting with flavor. The sauce was rich and creamy but complimented the crawfish. There are desserts but we had no room. Wait staff did an excellent job keeping you glasses full and clearing the table. If I could give zero stars, I would have. I visited this place back in January with a HUGE to-go order that wasn't cheap. After dealing with a rude person while placing my order, we went to pick up the food and waited another 30 MINUTES longer than what I was told. The person kept running back and forth, bringing more food. I'm not sure where the disconnect was, but my brother-in-law has NEVER had an order correct when placing to go. After spending almost $200 and getting back home to discover we were missing items and ones we did receive were TERRIBLE quality, I called the restaurant to report it. I spoke to a manager, he apologized, assured me that he would make it up to me, and offered a gift card totaling the amount we spent. Well, that was about 8 weeks ago, still nothing. We visit Covington a couple times a year and we will NEVER order from Don's again. read more

Went there on Saturday night to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Where do I begin??? 1. Service was horrible - had to ask server many times for things. 2. They were in the midst of a "silverware shortage" (really????) 3. Had to ask a total of 5 times for napkins (no silverware/napkins were on the table and our food had come). 4. Born and raised in the "New Orleans" area all of my 56 years, I've never had worse food - we tasted each other's foods and everything tasted like straight-up crab boil! You can eat for ALOT cheaper by going the grocery and buying a bottle of liquid crab boil and pour it over your food. Literally, that is what everything tasted like. We were so excited to try it as we used to go to the one in Metairie, LA many, many, many years ago. VERY Disappointed! No quality and No value. read more

So excited to be back in the South for getting my fill of seafood. Don's Seafood was close to the hotel I was staying at so I decided to give it a try. I stopped by for take out and after perusing the menu decided on crawfish etouffee. Now, I don't mind paying well for great food, but I was surprised when I got the order and found that for $20 (not including tip), I got a small container of steamed rice (like the small potato salad container size at a deli) and a medium size container of the etouffee, which was 3/4 filled. Nothing else. No roll or bread or hush puppies to soak up the (hopefully) yummy deliciousness. I did not see on the menu if anything came with the meal, but I did wrongfully assume (yeah, I know....) It would have bread. Anyway, cut to the chase....so the rice wasn't sticky like it should be. More like Minute Rice cooked in the microwave. And the etouffee? Eh, mediocre at best. Not very flavorful. Just eh. Sorry, Don's. Two stars for food but giving three stars due to excellent customer service. read more
