Love their happy hour which is offered twice a day - 4pm to 6pm AND 10pm to close! It can be hard to find a table. Donna's is pretty divey so don't expect service. My friend ordered a red wine at the bar and the bartender was looking around for an available bottle. Upstairs, there is a little station with cups and bottles of water. Today we grabbed one of the bottles and the water was... soapy. It's also pretty loud inside from music and can be hard to have conversations. Today I got the bolognese and Diavolo. The Diavolo was extremely salty, but the bolognese was perfect and had a lot of meat. My friend got the Cavatelli which was also really salty, but we liked the creaminess and the pork belly. It was so salty to the point where you can't really eat more than a few bites at a time. However all pastas are only $10 for happy hour and the portions are huge. In the past I've also tried the Parmesan fries were are also really tasty but on the saltier side.
By far my new favorite happy hour spot! The deals are amazing and the vibe inside is so fun. The pastas are only $10. I got the cavatelli and it was SO good. It was creamy, rich, and the portion was amazing. My friend and I split it and we were both stuffed. We also had the Caesar salad, which was perfect and fresh. The drinks were delicious and really well made. I really liked the drinks we got. The bartenders were super attentive and fast even though the place gets crowded, so definitely try to get there early because it really does feel like a squeeze. I was so full and really enjoyed everything. There's also an upstairs section, but sitting by the bar is especially cool with the lights and decor. And the bathroom even has a projector which was such a fun surprise. Honestly such a great place to hang out and I can't wait to go back.
All I have to say is OMG! Tired and exhausted from an extra long travel day. This was our first meal in Seattle. Late night, starving, all I wanted was something delicious to put me in a food coma and Donna's did just that! Who knew it would take so long to get into Seattle. Didn't help our flight was delayed! Hidden in the Capitol Hill area, you can't beat coming here anytime. Small establishment, findings a seat here is definitely worth the wait. Order food and drinks at the bar, and then go find a seat or table. Best to keep a tab open at the bar so you don't have to close out more than once. We got extremely lucky. It was 11 pm and we saw a couple just leaving in the back right by the kitchen. I snagged the table immediately. I didn't care where we were seated, I was just praying we could still order food. Limited food menu for their late night happy hour, but they still had a good selection and all their pastas available. Perfect! They have daily food and drink specials, but they are only served for a limited time, so get it while you can. Late night Happy hour is from 10 pm- midnight. They have amazing Happy Hour specials, the best part, from the full menu all the pastas are only $10! We ordered a couple drinks, and two pasta dishes. We got the Mafaldine (bolognese, pork, beef, herbs) and the hubs got the Black pepper fettuccine with chicken. Both of our absolute favorite types of pasta. I couldn't have asked for more. They both hit the spot and were absolute amazing! To finish up our meal, we got some gelato. The vibes here are super chill. Open from 4 pm - 2 am. Employees are nice and working their butts off and the awesome cook, nonstop feeding the late night bar goers. This was a great way and awesome meal to start our trip! Absolutely wonderful hang. It's a dive bar Italian joint hiding out on East Olive. You walk in and are welcomed by warm staff and as they rotate while you are there, they are all helpful, kind and on top of everything. The food was fantastic. At their normal, very reasonable pricing, the food is rich with flavor and prepared perfectly. At the happy hour prices, it's downright 2010 pricing. The menu isn't large, but what they do, they do perfectly. If the places that charged $30 could deliver the same product quality, we'd all be happier. Got to know one of the bartenders, Kelso, who was an excellent cocktail master and the reason you go back to a place like this repeatedly. While the neighborhood isn't great, it's worth stepping over and around what's outside to stop in here.
From a friend's recommendation, we went here during happy hour! Super crowded, but a very nice and friendly vibe! The pastas were good and such a good price! The drinks were yummy!!! The only thing I would recommend is coming here early since seating is limited, especially if you want to eat and drink! I really enjoyed the amount of meat and savoriness in my pasta! The did a great job! They also will ID you when you enter!
Finally had the chance to check out Donna's happy hour on a Thursday evening. Donna's is a cute little hole-in-the-wall off Olive, known for both their daily happy hour (4-6pm) and late-night $10 pasta dishes. The music was great and it definitely gives speak easy atmosphere. We arrived right at 5pm and the place was already packed. If you can avoid driving I would recommend taking public transportation and walking down to Donna's. Since it's first-come, first-served and the space is pretty small, we ended up waiting by the front door with another group ahead of us. They don't appear to have a wait list (taking phone numbers or names) so stay nearby either outside or the front door. Luckily, two seats opened up at the bar and we grabbed them. We ordered the cavatelli with pork belly, Caesar salad, mac and cheese balls, two green tea shooters, and their tomato basil gin cocktail - all from the happy hour menu. Portions were surprisingly generous; we even had leftovers. I didn't love the green tea shooter, but I heard a few people nearby say it was their favorite. The food overall was yummy, but I'd recommend requesting the Caesar dressing on the side - it had a spicy/bitter seasoning that was hard to pinpoint. For five drinks, one entrée, and two appetizers, our total came out to around $100, which felt like a great deal to me. Definitely worth checking out if you're in the area and don't mind a little wait!
Checked out Donna's for happy hour and it is a real good deal. All the pastas are only $10 during happy hour, and some cocktails and appetizers are cheaper as well. We ordered a bunch of stuff to share. The mac and cheese balls were great and had a perfectly crispy crust. The caesar salad was super saucy and those fried wonton crisps on top were incredible. I also got the Always Dreaming which was a fantastic drink. For the pastas we got the bolognese and the cavatelli. The bolognese was really great. The sausage and sauce were super flavorful, but the noodles were just a little soft for me. The cavatelli felt almost like gnocchi and was slightly gummy, but the sauce and the bits of pork belly were really delicious. One big heads up is the seating situation. It feels a bit chaotic, almost like a parking lot. They check your ID at the door and then you basically just wait for an empty table since there isn't really a line. I highly recommend getting there right at opening or even a few minutes before so you don't have to deal with that.
4 stars. Lissen, I'm a fan. We dropped in for the late night happy hour and were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed it! The lemon pepper chicken wings were fantastic! Ask for some house made hot sauce on the side - it looks like marinara but tastes like buffalo. So tasty!! The bread was phenomenal! (Skip that dipping sauce. It's basically balsamic salad dressing - yuck!) The Mac n cheese balls were undeniably delicious. The service was superb. So, why only four stars? Well... It's dark - like pitch black almost. I had to use my flashlight to see my food. And it's loud - it's really hard to have a conversation. And the pasta we tried was abysmal. The pork belly was just too fatty and the sauce tasted off - sour even. I would not recommend that pasta at all. And the Thot sauce...well, the name says it all! That Ho Ova There was like a thick balsamic dressing, not an olive oil with herbs dipping sauce as I expected. Just skip it. And cuz someone should've reminded us that we needed to check out the Photo Booth - I totally spaced and we missed getting our pics. Boooooo. Overall: Honestly, Donna's was great! I'm sad we didn't venture over there until our last night in Seattle. I definitely would have gone back for a second time because those wings and Mac n cheese balls and the bread will live rent free in my head u til I get back to Seattle again! I have never ever in my life eaten at a restaurant with no table or chair. We ordered our food at the bar at 10:30pm. There were absolutely no tables open. You have to play this creepy game where you stare people while they're eating to try and get their table when they're done. And even then, some bitch stole the table I was eyeing for 30 minutes. So I had to eat my food on a stool. I have never in my life gone to a restaurant and had to eat standing. If you want to eat here, get takeout.
I've been here about 5 times and every single time I leave satisfied! This place is definitely on the smaller side for seating. There's two tables downstairs and bar seating and an upstairs area with tables! First come first serve and this is in Cap Hill so it gets very busy later at night! They also have late night happy hour but keep in mind they don't have their oven running during the late night happy hour at 10pm so you won't be able to get any bread, brussel sprouts, or any other items they cook in the oven. They stop serving food at 12am. For food I have had the Parmesan fries, Mac n cheese bites, bolognese, black pepper fettuccini, and cavatelli. Bolognese: my fav pasta here! The red sauce is rich and it's saucier than the other cream based pastas. Personally I like the red sauce pastas better than the cream sauce ones. I think the cream sauce ones are a bit on the dryer side and require more sauce to satisfy my pasta cravings however if you like pasta on the lighter sauce side than I would recommend those ones! I also think that the red sauce pastas have more flavor and seasoning for me while the cream sauce ones are pretty light in flavor. Parmesan: MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE NON PASTA ITEM!!! I love the creaminess of cheese sauce but it's not just creamy, it has a nice acidity and bite from the garlic, tomato, and mama lil's red peppers. I think the flavors all balance together to create the perfect loaded fries. The fries themselves are also crispy and well seasoned! It can definitely be shared between two people as a snack Mac n cheese balls: pretty standard! I would love if the cheese was more gooey but obviously it's a Mac n cheese ball not a cheese ball. It definitely satisfies the craving. It's nicely seasoned and crispy on the outside All the portions are a good size and will definitely get you full. I love coming here with friends and doing family style to try all the different dishes! For drinks I've had the mandarin hero, noble drama, rotating slushies, and silver charm (non-alcoholic). Mandarin hero: it reminds me of an orange cream soda! The cream is at the top so make sure to mix thoroughly. I love this drink because I can barely taste the alcohol (my fav thing when drink cocktails). I get this every time I'm here Noble drama: basically an espresso martini! Great balance of sweetness and coffee flavor, again the alcohol not being super strong Slushies: all their slushy flavors have been great, can't remember the flavors they've had rotating but they all are unique and taste great! Silver Charm: a very sweet drink and great option if you want something flavorful without the alcohol. It has a nice fruity tartness to it!
A HH deal with pasta for $10?? Say no more. It was definitely a great deal, although it kinda tasted like my pasta was a little sour.. The portions are great tho. And i liked their mac & cheese ball. HH cocktails are $10 also. Haven't found a better deal than that. A pretty small, seat yourself type of place. Has some vibes and aesthetic. It got pretty packed when I went on a Tuesday.

Tiny bar with great ambience. My friends and I came in a little before 10PM on a Saturday. Luckily we were able to find a table right away because just a few minutes past 10 a mob started to form outside. We ordered: Cocktails: Maximo, Malfadine, Slushie - Maximo was a favorite as any cocktail that tastes like juice is a win. The Malfadine tasted what a Fanta cream soda would be. The Slushie (rotating flavors, this one had rum in it) was okay, too strong for my liking. Malfadine - Was okay pasta. Felt full after eating, but it just reminded me of canned spaghetti. Black Pepper Fettucine - Very acidic and greasy. Bottom of the bowl had an insane puddle of oil and lemon juice. "Poutine" Esca Loaded Fries - A mix of crispy and soggy fries. The cheese curds were cut questionably large and sauce was more tomato chunks than gravy saucy. For late night happy hour food, you get what you pay for. There's a second floor w/ more seating, but you'll have to arrive a lot earlier to claim. The place seems understaffed as the service promptness severely declined as the night progressed. Had to run to our waiter for taking our order #, but not receiving the other half of our meals and drinks. Generally took about 40-50 mins for food to arrive and 15 mins to close our tabs because there's only one bartender. read more

Such a cute bar and hidden gem in capitol hill! Happy hour is from 4-6 pm and has only $10 pastas! Their cocktails are very unique so if you like trying different things this is perfect. There's not much seating so keep in mind when it gets busy around 5 pm. Really good pasta - highly recommend the diavolo and adding protein if you'd like. read more

My sister and I are from the East Coast and were visiting our cousin who now lives in Seattle. I had seen Donna's highly rated on Yelp and asked my cousin about it. She had not been yet, but said it was definitely a popular spot and she heard good things. Maybe our expectations were too high because two out of three of us did not enjoy the food. I did not realize the restaurant is self-serve, which is fine, but it does not really give off that vibe and does not seem to be listed anywhere on the website. I am the only one who liked what I ordered and it was such a basic dish it seemed hard to mess up. I had the Spaghettoni with chicken, which is pretty much just spaghetti with marinara sauce. My cousin had the Mafaldine, which was waaay too salty. My sister is a vegetarian and can't really eat red sauce, so she had the Radiatore. This dish... was soup. It was not edible unfortunately. We shared the fresh baked bread with thot sauce which was okay, but too salty in my opinion. Same goes for the Caesar salad. On the bright side, we enjoyed our wine/beer, the music, and the prices. read more

I wanted to be obsessed with this place but the pasta just didn't do it for me. The mafaldine had the most overpowering sour herb spice that kind of ruined what would've been a delicious dish. The diavolo was a bit better with a good creamy flavor, but the spice and grease were a bit overwhelming too. Service, however, was awesome and happy hour prices from 4-6 were some of the best in Seattle. Loved the fresh always dreamin cocktail and the painkiller slush. read more

I don't go to happy hours often but the prices here are reasonable and I enjoyed the vibe of the interior. The second floor has a skylight, though the music too loud as if they were afraid the chatter would not be sufficient to fill the space. The drinks were too expensive for happy hour but the food was a good deal, even if the pasta was way acidic and oversauced. read more
Great vibes! Cozy downstairs and upstairs with an expansive bar, lots of plant life, and decorated walls. You can sit anywhere but make sure to order at the bar. Service was super friendly. They have a happy hour 4-6 Monday through Saturday with great deals. Tried two of the HH cocktails and enjoyed them both. Definitely recommend the "Poutine" Esca Fries on HH. Ordered the Creste Di Gallo pasta since all pastas are $10 on HH and it was super tasty. Will definitely come back again! read more

Do not sleep on this hidden gem! My gf and I stumbled upon this place looking for cheap eats during happy hour and oh my gosh this place far exceeded our expectations!! The food: so damn tasty! The drinks: a solid 10/10! We got the Caesar salad (the crunchy fried pie crust croutons were a fun twist), parmesan fries (so garlicky yesss), the spicy diavolo pasta was so damn flavorful. Definitely coming back!! read more

The paper plates were falling apart from the sauce - I wish they had reusable sharing plates... The drinks are good and nicely strong, but pretty overpriced. Perfect spot to go for happy hour for drinks and food!! Their salads and $10 pastas for happy hour is something you can't beat!! The pastas are all so good! Happy hour is from 4-6pm and it fills up fast. You order at the bar and they serve you where you sit. We started with the Mama's lil Caesar and Mac n cheese balls. We also got the espresso shots, holy bull, mommy juice, and regular cocktails. For the pastas we got the spaghettoni (spaghetti) and Donna's Pesto and we really enjoyed it. They have a photo booth downstairs next to the bathroom. Def a vibe and a must happy hour spot! There's street parking and located around Capitol Hill and not too far from Pike Place Market. read more

Happy hour had good deals. It's an order at the bar place which is great for a bar. Lots of simple items to order. Location is on edge of Capital hill area but a short walk to more in the area. The major drawback was that there was a person who had their dog in there which seemed questionable since some employees were petting it while working which just was unsanitary. read more
Both the food and drinks here were really good! I think the HH deals are the best option, and that's what we did. Tried the Mac n cheese balls which were tasty and my partner liked his loaded fries, but the portion was really generous so he took the rest in a box. The pastas for $10 at HH is a great deal. We each tried one and it was a pretty good portion and quite tasty. The drinks were fairly unique and I liked the variety - they had more than just sweet or boozy choices. It's first come first seat and then you order at the bar, so I recommend coming early to grab a spot as it fills up fast. The vibe was similar to Rose temple (their previous bar) but a bit more refined. Still definitely a bar with loud music and fun lights though! read more

Donna's is amazing! The staff are friendly and easy to talk to, the cocktails are unique and tasty, and the interior is beautifully decorated. (I believe it's a sister-bar of Rose Temple?) Love the happy hour deals, but the regular menu prices are a great price too. We ordered a bunch of different drinks and food, and the owner gave us complimentary espresso martini shots. Can't wait to go back again soon! read more

My entire experience was a Huge Eww ! Super small atmosphere, LOUD music blasting, the $10 pasta black pepper fettuccine was no flavor, bland the only thing was good was the crisp asparagus! Don't get the Bread it's horrible and burnt! Don't get the tho-t sauce it's gross!! Just get a beer on tap and move on!! And don't expect service!! There is None!! And sadly this my Happy Hour at 10pm there was No Happy about this place- Bounce!! Oh wait and the additional meatballs for 3 at $6 is AWFUL!! Burnt and no flavor!!! I am outraged for $6 of 3 meatballs is NASTY! read more

Mid week happy hour and we went to Donna's - I got lured in by the $10 pasta happy hour - who doesn't love pasta? The place is cute, fun vibes, pretty people, pretty drinks, decent portions for HH - bar downstairs with cute loft seating upstairs. Order at the bar - bartender was nice - Food was ok - can't really complain about $10 pasta - like the other reviews we also thought the food was salty and pasta is overcooked. read more

Love this place! Been dying to check it out for a while and my girlfriend and I finally got to hit them up! Amazing happy hour! $10 pastas were fantastic! I had the Diavolo and my gf had the Pepper Fettuccine! Both were delicious! Loved the Brussels sprouts! The cocktails were wonderful! Love the espresso martini shots and the slushies too!! The staff was lovely! Adored the gold disco ball, such a fun vibe! We'll definitely be back! read more
I am happy we stopped into Donna's while walking around Capitol Hill. It has two levels we sat on the first near the Photo Booth. Cool decor, can't go wrong with a disco ball. The bartender and server were nice, drinks and food came quickly. The Holy bull cocktail really tasted like basil it was good. The "poutine"esca loaded fries were delicious! The wings were ok, not the best. I regretted not trying a pasta for the great price. read more

Probably one of the best happy hours I've been to in Seattle. Their $10 pasta special was generous and delicious. I love a bright cream sauce and mine was perfect. Also tried the tomato basil martini and I am intimidated of savory cocktails but this was tasty and approachable. The staff was witty and attentive and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Love the space, it feels modern but warm. I will be returning. read more

This is such a cute spot! I love the vibe Donna's has. This isn't too far from the rest of the Capitol Hill bars but just far enough away from the center of traffic that it's perfect for a chill night out. I'd recommend getting here a bit earlier in the night if you want a table though. The food is great! I usually get light bites when I'm here but the prices are affordable which I can really appreciate. The drinks are great and the service is lovely. read more
What a great find!! We loved this little dive place that we got to at about 10:45 on a Friday night. We were lucky because usually this place is supposed to be packed with a line out the door, but we were immediately able to find some tables, with other tables leftover! We came with the intention of the 10pm happy hour, which is sure was! We ordered the malfadine which was a fantastic classic ragu sauce! We also ordered a Pesto to split in half. I will say, I would not recommend the Pesto! It had WAY too much balsamic glaze, that I could not even taste any Pesto in it whatsoever! I was at one point even confused if they gave us the putanesca or got our order wrong because there was no trace of pesto. The mac n cheese balls were a real treat, although a little heavy handed on the salt in the breading. In terms of drinks, I had one with bourbon which was fantastic. Although, the price to cocktail was a little steep with the amount of ice in each cup. I would probably stick to their happy hour here and get a beer next time! The vibe was immaculate though. Whoever the DJ was had a fantastic playlist ongoing! The red lights and the dim-lights here are a perfect date spot for a sultry vibe! hidden gem for sure. went in for happy hour at 4pm on a friday night and it got pretty busy by 5pm. for food, we tried the Mafaldine Pasta, Parmesan Fries. Mafaldine pasta was a bit too smoky for my liking but let me tell you the parmesan fries with bolognese was soooo good, lots of garlic, but great overall. for drinks, we tried always dreaming and holy bull. the always dreaming drink is great for those who prefer sweet/fruity cocktails like me .. apple taste. for holy bull drink is such a strong martini drink, but cute looking cocktail. service, ambiance, food, drinks experience 10/10. read more

They play great music here, definitely a vibe! I also love the Photo Booth downstairs by the bathroom, it's a must before you leave! We showed our ID's upon entry and ordered drinks and food downstairs at the bar. Then we found a table upstairs where lighting is very dim. They do bring your food and drinks to your table. We ordered the tasty "poutine" esca loaded fries and I tried to order the black pepper fettuccine but not sure what I got lol. Waitress came to the table twice letting me know they were first out of asparagus but could substitute spinach, then came back and were out of fettuccine noodle and could do spaghetti noodle. I wasn't given spaghetti..lol but it was good. Regardless, we definitely enjoyed our flavorful yummy food! We ordered two drinks (noble drama and mandarin hero), both had very large ice cubes so your drink is mainly ice. Probably will avoid cocktails and go for shooters or something else. I would return for the quick yummy pasta, good music, and fun Photo Booth. read more

a very fun and cute place in capitol hill! it is very small and can get quite busy so either come early or wait for a spot to open up. i love the vibes in here and they have great music playing as well as a photobooth in the back :) the drinks are very fun and inventive and suggest getting those but would not recommend the food as it is quite expensive for what it is. i would maybe buy food during happy hour. read more
Came here because I heard about the $10 pasta happy hour. I got the creste di gallo and for $10 I guess it was ok? It was a bit too acidic for me and personally I would prefer to get two Dick's burgers or slices of pizza, but it is a good deal for pasta. The drinks looked good (tried the Mandarin Hero and I liked it) but the space is quite small and not that much seating, so this would maybe be more of a pre-game spot for me. read more

This is a tiny little bar. The ambiance is excellent and feels like a cozy hole in the wall spot. The lighting is low and it's a great place to catch up with a friend. The best part is their happy hour! They have $10 pastas of all varieties that are absolutely delicious, and I would definitely go back and try it again. We tried the fettuccine alfredo. read more
