Good experience! So let me give you a little bit of nuance. I lived a year in Berlin so I will try not to compare too harshly because the Döners in Berlin are the best IMHO. That being said, my beef and lamb döner was legitimately good! I was pleasantly surprised at how close the bread was to the German style. Also the veggies were very legit! Garlic sauce was excellent (VERY garlicky- which is a good thing!). Meat was decent, not the best. Overall I'd give the sandwich a 7.5/10. I think this is the most authentic döner I've had in Seattle. Good experience, friendly staff and cozy shop. If you're not familiar with the döner, which was invented in Berlin, you should try this spot, it was pretty good!

Ordered the chicken doner plate. A year ago, the portions were double, even triple the size of what I got today. Flavor is there but for $18, you are getting a kid's meal here. Sauce is an extra ~$1.

Döner Box was a pleasant surprise for me as soon as I arrived in Belltown. I hadn't eaten in about seven hours and needed food fast, and I was specifically craving falafel--so this spot felt like the right choice. I debated between the falafel wrap and the falafel döner, but ultimately went with the falafel wrap, and I'm glad I did. The falafel was made fresh to order--crispy on the outside, warm and fluffy on the inside, and packed with flavor. Everything in the wrap, including the sauces and fixings, complemented the portion perfectly and made it very satisfying. To add more protein, I ordered the garlic tofu, which was also made fresh and fried to a perfect crisp. Both dishes took a little time to prepare, but it was absolutely worth the wait. The experience felt very personal and welcoming--the worker who prepared my food was accommodating and genuinely made me feel at home. The location was also convenient, not far from my hotel, which was a big plus. Everything tasted fresh, and I honestly considered coming back again the very next day. I'll definitely return to try both dishes again--and maybe the falafel döner next time. They also offer a selection of imported European beers. Personally, I'm a bit skeptical of how well those flavors translate after export--they don't always taste the same to me--but for those who enjoy imported options, there's a solid variety available. Overall, I really liked this place. If you're in the area and craving fresh, flavorful falafel, I definitely recommend checking it out.

After living in Germany for many years I often crave a good döner kebab which are difficult to find in the U.S. So imagine my surprise when I discovered a place that bills itself as making authentic German style kebabs. The restaurant is quite small with only a few seats but the service was friendly and prompt. I had the Döner sandwich and my family tried the Döner box. We also ordered some Greek French fries as a side dish. Everything tasted good, but it wasn't a traditional Döner. The restaurant is also a little bit untidy and not well ventilated so we left with our clothes needing to be aired out. I don't know that I would return but I would recommend that if you go, you take your food to go. Is my review a little harsh? Perhaps. As I said, having had quite a few Döners in Germany I may be a tough critic.

I revisited this place and had their doner sandwich with chicken. It was very flavorful and not dry at all. It was definitely better than my previous experience, which means that I'll have to go back and try again to validate the flavors, i.e. just an excuse to have a sandwich.

Me and my family came from our factory tour at boeing(see previous review) and were hungry. We spent a while looking for places to eat, and finally landed on this place close to us. Very delicious, and decent pricing compared to other places. Only one employee, but he got it done. Not much seating at all, but had cool wall mural. would recommend eating food as soon as you get it, stuff can get soggy. Me and my family got one of everything, and would reccomend the wrap, and sandwich. fries were nothing special, not sure they were worth the $6.75.Very good german-turkish fusion overall. Thanks!

Doner Box offered me a really affordable lunch wrap near the Seattle Center that was perfect to enjoy on a sunny Seattle afternoon. I came here after seeing they had some really good vegan options on the menu. They offer falafels and marinated spicy tofu as your vegan protein of choice, and you can top it off with their tahini sauce to complete the meal. I ended up doing the former for my gigantic wrap - crispy chunks of falafel snugged inside warm pita with all the fixings. Veggies were pretty good as well but nothing too noteworthy. Together with the sauce, it was a really portable and tasty lunch. Their shop is quite small with limited counter seating that faces the street, so you could dine inside and do a bit of people watching. However, I'd recommend just grabbing and going somewhere nearby (like Olympic Sculpture Park) to enjoy your food.

Was in Belltown and Doner Box popped up in the area as a good option to visit with the positive reviews, and as a person who enjoys Mediterranean cuisine, we decided to swing by and give this place a try! We went on a Saturday around 12:30pm, ordered and got our food within 5 minutes. I got the Doner Box with Carved chicken, and I thought that this box of food was only alright in terms of quality. Although the chicken was lukewarm, it was soft and soaked up the garlic yogurt sauce that I got nicely - There was a decent amount of spices on the chicken as well. If I were to return, I would probably try and get the plate next time, as the box wasn't very filling - it basically acted as a chicken salad for $13. We also had to remind the cashier that we ordered a baklava as it didn't come out till after we had completely finished eating our boxes. I wouldn't fault the workers for getting this out to us as we ordered it with our meals if the restaurant was busy, but there was only like two other customers at the time and it feels like they just forgot about that part of our order and would have never received it unless reminded. Overall, I would say that Doner Box is only alright in terms of quality and price. As mentioned above, the Doner box with chicken was like $13 for chicken over mostly salad, which to me personally isn't as worth it. I'm not sure if I would revisit, but if these are only my thoughts - feel free to stop by if you want to give this place a try.

I am a huge fan of Doner Kebabs (aka Gyros) - a staple of my youth in England. Sadly there aren't many authentic and high quality options in Seattle. So I am always excited to try a new place that offers this. Doner box is a small restaurant offering german-style Turkish food in belltown. It's mostly a takeout venue with a few tables to sit inside or outside. The location is on a block of restaurants, with a few street parking spaces in front. This area of belltown seldom has a free space, but I did find a spot outside on Saturday lunchtime. Service inside the restaurant was very friendly and helpful. They are in a 'soft open' period, but seemed completely open. The menu is simple but had a good range of options for a lunch. The kebabs are offered with either chicken or lamb/beef. That is a shame, as I would have hoped for a lamb-only option. I had the lamb/beef. The meat is cut from a spit and was moist and fresh. The meat is served either in a ciabatta-like bread or in a tortilla wrap. I was disappointed (as I would prefer a Pita), but the tortilla was quite a good alternative. The veggie fillings offered were great - a good balance of things, and the wrap tasted very good. The meal came with a side of fries. Sadly these were frozen, not fresh cut, and were just fine, nothing special. Overall, this was probably the best doner kebab I've had in the US. I will definitely return. Perhaps next time I'll bring my own Pita. Strongly recommended if you like Doner/Gyros. Update: I got some feedback that in Germany, this is the standard bread used for a Doner, and gyros is something separate. I too have had these in Germany. However, I am originally from the UK where the doner is very popular and always in pita - hence my preference. read more

Thank goodness. Finally a place in Seattle that can do doner kebab! I ate a ton of these while studying in Germany. I tried Berliner Doner a few times and it always disappointed, especially the quality of the meat. This place is great! A lot of food for under $10, the quality and taste of the meat was superb, the sauces delicious and the vegetables fresh. So happy these folks opened up! I'll definitely be back. read more

When your German girlfriend raves this is the best döner kebab she's ever had, you know a place is doing something right - actually, more like, somethings. From the bread to the veggies, sauces and meats, this is the best sandwich I've had during our extended visit to Seattle. It even beats the sandwiches I've had back home in Metro Detroit, where delicious Mediterranean food is pretty much around every corner. And to top it all off - bad sandwich-themed pun definitely intended - the price is super-affordable, especially by inflated Seattle standards. The food here tastes SO clean and delicious! I got the chicken sandwich with a side of falafels whereas my fiancé got the lamb & beef plate with rice. The chicken sandwich was our favorite - it was nicely seasoned and had a wonderful combination of textures thanks to the toasted bread and fresh, crunchy ingredients (cucumber, lettuce, shredded red cabbage). The chicken itself was tender and not too salty. I got the tahini and chili sauce with it. The tahini was nice and creamy. The chili sauce wasn't spicy and tangy as I hoped tbh so I wouldn't get that again. Falafels are also good with the cucumber sauce. The plate was pretty good as well. The shaved meat was perfectly seasoned and went great with the garlic and cilantro sauces mixed in. read more

I had the falafel plate with salad and curry sauce. The salad dressing was really good, very light yet flavorful. The falafel was a little cold and didn't appear to be freshly fried. The curry sauce was very good. My daughter had the chicken sandwich and said the chicken was burnt. I love my chicken charred but I know some do not. Overall, it wasn't too bad but certainly pricey. read more

So far I've enjoyed the wrap and the plate each with chicken and then again with beef and lamb and everything has been very tasty. The restaurant itself is small but not cramped, service is prompt for walk in and online ordering has been very prompt as well. I was browsing yelp looking for something different to eat when I stumbled upon Doner Box. The great reviews and pictures drew me in. I had my boyfriend pick me up the Doner plate with chicken. When he brought it back, I noticed it was a lot of food. Enough for two or more! The chicken & veggies tasted extremely fresh, so fresh that I went back for more. I also got the curry sauce and chili sauce but unfortunately didn't like either. They were both tangy and the chili sauce tasted like ketchup and hot sauce. Is that what it is? Rice could be a little more seasoned but overall a solid meal at a very good price. I'll be curious if they continue with the portion size and price after their soft launch. I look forward to trying more items from their menu. read more

If you are looking for a new place to try out, give a chance to Doner Box! I was going to rate this restaurant 4 stars at first (because the order took about 20 minutes to be ready) but the taste made all the difference and I can't rate it lower than 5 stars! We had a chicken plate and a lamb and beef wrap and they both tasted amazing. The vegetables had a really interesting flavor that made the food stand out from all other places of similar kind. Everything we tried was extra delicious and fresh. Also, their prices are very reasonable for this Seattle area. I'm glad that I live close by because I'll be back to try out more options. read more

Definitely the best Döner in town and by far superior to the other options locally. The sauce is delicious and they have great meats and veggies. There is also plenty of variations to choose from in case you aren't in the mood for the original version. The only downside is the bread, they don't make real Fladenbrot, for the total experience you have to head down to Portland. But it's definitely worth going and I'm glad we got this option in town. My friend and I tried their döner sandwich with chicken and lamb n beef. They both taste sooo good! I never eat doner before so I can't compare, but I can say I love this. The potion of meat and veggie is just perfect. I'm a meat lover and usually don't care about the veggie. But even the veggie taste so good as well. The homemade sauces are another highlight! Make sure to try their curry sauce. It's creamy, sweet and savory. I'll come back to try it in a wrap and with other sauces too. read more

Underrated. This is the best German style döner we've had outside of Germany! The bread, the meats, the sauce, and fresh toppings - this is as close as it gets. Geschmekt! Dramatically better than their local "competitor", Berliner, whose bread is far too thick and lacks that true Deutsch Döner spirit. Friendly staff and clean bathroom too. read more

I'm generally very supportive of small and/or local businesses, but was really teetering between 2-3 stars for this one. Upon entering the empty shop and walking toward the register, none of the employees acknowledged that a person had entered the store. They were quite... absent? Although polite, the cashier kept speaking over what I was trying to order. When I inquired about the business' promotion code on Yelp, a second employee came to assist and responded with, "I don't know what you're talking about." When I shared my phone screen to help clarify my question, there wasn't much communication after it was applied (not a big deal, didn't really need it anyway). After my transaction was complete, the second employee left my change on the countertop and walked away. Not the most personable or encouraging encounter. Maybe the good reviews and novelty around the item/new spot got me a bit too excited. However, I wasn't particularly wowed by the food, and the lamb and beef option is pretty salty. Also, I'm not entirely sure if this was because the meat was being picked out of a container, but some of the slices were really dry. Good for a quick bite once in a while maybe, but this is likely a one and done for me. My doner sandwich wasn't super filling (I'm a fairly petite person with a small appetite as well haha), nor did I feel that I really got my money's worth. The sandwich is a little pricey for being primarily filled with veggies. read more

I was excited to try this place since my spouse and I have tried doner kebab in Germany but we were overall disappointed. The "saffron rice" was not saffron rice. It was and tasted like white jasmine rice you eat with teriyaki chicken. And maybe little saffron to give it the yellow color. Usually it is made with basmati and has a lot of flavor. The lamb/beef and chicken were good but overall this food was not the real deal. Definitely prefer other kebab places in Seattle. Not coming back. read more

This is my first time trying German Turkish food and I'm loving it!!! The flavor is out of this world. I have been going back everyday since they had open. They have a lot of menu options that I was able to select from, which all had tasted excellent to me. The staffs and owner were all very helpful with explaining the different sauces and tastes. They were even nice enough to allow me to taste the different sauces, since I have been going back everyday to try the different menu items. Obviously, they cook everything fresh to order because the inside of the fries was like lava. The fries were thick-cut and seasoned to perfection. The sandwich was good. I thought some pieces of the steak were a bit tough, and the roll seemed a bit over-steamed or possibly stale. A good sandwich and decent portion, nonetheless. I'm still going 5 stars here. I think Big Mike's is a great choice if you want a hearty, meat-filled sandwich and you happen to be in the area. However, I think you could be happy with another dining option in the Armory, too. My kids loved the MOD Pizza nearby. While there isn't anything wildly unique going on at Big Mike's, they are still pushing out great sandwiches at reasonable prices with a no-frills ordering process.
