An underrated gem in Wallingford! I went on a weekday so I got my food to go. I tried the bara kebab and the bolani. Everything was good and I could not stop eating the lamb. There was a bit of a line to order takeout so I just ordered through my phone and it got ready pretty quickly! Go before December 31 as they will be closing soon.

We've been wanting to try Kabul for a while and finally got a chance to come for dinner recently. My partner who's vegetarian got a Qorma-i Tarkari, and I got a Bara Kebab (lamb leg kebab) with a piece of Badenjan Borani (eggplant) ($32 + $3 for the eggplant side) as recommended by our waiter. Everything was delicious, the vegetarian dish, the lamb meat, the palaw rice, and I can see why almost everyone raved about the eggplant in their reviews. The service was very fast, attentive, and welcoming. Our waiter was very helpful. Only reason I'm not giving a 5-star was the portion. For $32 the amount of lamb served was... not that much. I left craving more meat...

Fantastic dining experience! The four of us came on a Sat night just before 6PM and were able to get seated right away. Really comfortable and inviting atmosphere. My bride went with the Murgh Kabob with with Badenjan Borani ($27) and my DIL went with the Bara Kabob ($32). My son and I ordered the Combination Kabob for Two with chicken and beef ($90). It was an overwhelming majority vote....we all absolutely loved everything we ordered! The service from Yama and the entire staff was super friendly and hospitable. We highly recommend this place!

Wonderful experience at Kabul last weekend! I've always been curious about this place and finally gave it a try. First time having Afghan cuisine and the flavors are just, wow! Hubby and I got the combo plate for two with lamb and steak kebab. Starts with a bowl of Ash soup, which was just delightful on a cold evening. The flavor combination was so unique. With the kebabs, you're also served a cucumber based salad (light and refreshing), Badenjan Borani (eggplant), and Kabuli Palaw (huge rice dish). Neither of us are big fans of eggplant, but I ended up eating mine and half of his. The sauce on them is absolutely amazing. And the rice...so good! Wonderfully spiced and the raisins in there are flavorful and juicy, not your average raisins. It all came together so well. You end with Firni for dessert. I liked the texture of this, but the rose water just didn't hit my palate right. Hubby enjoyed it for us. We were pretty hungry so also added a Bolani appetizer. This was pretty good, but would try other items next time. We were stuffed and took home leftovers. The service was wonderful. We felt like family and the owner brought over some house made spicy sauce for my hubby. We were also given a recommendation to try the Lebanese red wine, and it paired perfectly with our meal. We were looking to spice things up from our normal dining options in Seattle and Kabul delivered above and beyond. There are several other items on the menu that I am excited to come back and try!

Afghani food is pretty hard to find and I hadn't found any other options around Seattle, so I was pretty excited to revisit some amazing dishes. Overall, I'd say the food really didn't blow me away; unfortunately, if you're like me and have a family friend who can cook up these dishes, their versions won't stand a chance. The food wasn't bad though, still a good introduction to the cuisine if you've never had. Prices are really steep though and parking is a pain in the butt around here. Bolani (4/5): Crispy on the outside with fluffy potato and scallions inside. Ashak (3/5): Beef dumplings that I wish were a little more stuffed. Tangy yogurt sauce is great over top with the fresh herbs inside, but it's 25 bucks for like 6 super thin dumplings, so it's hard to believe that this is meant to be an individual entree. Kabuli Palaw with Lamb Qorma (3.75/5): Lamb was very tender and the rice felt slightly under, but I always like how the carrots and raisins bring a bit of sweetness. The almonds add some nice crunch and texture.

Super welcoming place with a warm vibe. The kebabs were solid, especially the lamb, but the pulao stole the show. Fluffy, fragrant, and packed with flavor. Way too expensive though, so I'm not sure how often I'd go back.

I've never had afghan food before this and now I am SOLD!! I didn't realize some of my favorite flavors (coriander, saffron, pistachio, dill, etc.) and textures (filo dough, cooked eggplant, yummy dips, etc.) were cornerstones of the cuisine, and now that I do there's no turning back. Service was speedy and kind, food came out quick! Very local/small business feel, they had a live musician playing a traditional instrument (sarod I think?) and the owner was so friendly and I could see clear community/relationships happening the whole time we were there. Everything we got was SO GOOD. The flavors and textures were truly 10/10. The cardamom tea was a special treat, and the firni dessert was the perfect close to a stellar meal.

If you're craving authentic and absolutely phenomenal Afghan food, this is the place to come to! Great, ambience, decor, friendly staff, and delicious food is what you'll get to experience here. We started out meal with the mushroom qorma which came with a warm pita bread. We then ordered the kabuli palaw with lamb and the seekh kebob with kabuli palaw. Both dishes also came with a side salad which was fresh and flavorful. The service was phenomenal and the portion sizes were also great. It was a night of true comfort food that was perfect with the chilly Seattle weather in October. I can't wait to come back here again, and to try some of their other dishes!

This is most definitely one of the best restaurants in Seattle! The bikini are amazing and we also loved the lamb kebab with Badenjan Borani. Save room for the amazing firni at the end of your meal. Also, make sure to ask for the amazing hot sauce they have.

An amazing spot for a date or solo date! The service staff is so kind, and was happy to give me recommendations. I could really feel the Afghan hospitality! My waitress recommended the ash and bolani for starters and ashak or murgh kebab for mains. I had the bolani and ashak. The bolani was crispier than I am used to, but it was nice! I like the addition of the green onions in the filling! The ashak was also nice, it tasted like pasta, so a good thing to try if you are not really in the mood for too much meat. However, the kebabs and pulao looked very tempting from what I saw! The dessert menu looked really good as well! Unfortunately I was too full, but I'll definitely come back for the firni!!

Kabul Afghan Cuisine has been recommended by a friend as one of the tastiest places in Seattle that she has been to - I personally have never tried Afghan cuisine before, so I was definitely looking for opportunities to swing by to try this interesting cuisine! We went on a Wednesday around 7pm and were seated promptly. The ambience of the restaurant does feel very homely, with pictures and art of Afghan landscapes, architecture, and culture. Tables are laid out with candles and lights are dimly lit, and service is responsive and fast. Food came out in a reasonable time, but it was also given that it wasn't really busy that night. I was surprise that we were able to get a table with a reservation so easily, so that was a plus. Since this was a nice restaurant we wanted an opportunity to try as much variety as possible, so our waitress recommended the Combination Kebab for two ($80) - we decided to go that route as it looked very enticing! I'll review the items we got down below: Ash: This is a delicious bowl of soup! I loved the flavor profile as you could really taste the herbs - there is a certain richness from how thick the soup was that I enjoyed. There was a decent amount of chickpeas and kidney beans in the soup, and both were tender. Badenjan Borani: A delicious eggplant portion - the eggplant is very soft and covered in a good amount of tomato sauce and spices. What I liked about this dish is that it pairs nicely with the kebab, as the creaminess of the yogurt sauce and acidity of the tomato complements the meatiness of the kebab. Beef and Chicken Kebab Combo: These are hearty chunks of meat! There is a decent blend of chew and tenderness through each chunk, and you can subtlety taste the spices and marinade. It is a decent portion of kebab given, and when paired with the Salata and Kabuli Palaw, this is a good amount of food that will definitely leave you satisfied. The Kabuli Palaw rice dish was delicious! I could definitely eat a whole plate of the rice itself - you can taste the coriander and cumin, and the raisins and nuts give it a pleasing texture. The Salata was alright, it was mostly just cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions in a small bowl - it did serve as a palate cleanser, but I would say this was my least favorite of the experience. I loved that they gave you a good tasting option for the variety of Afghan dishes that they serve where. Firni: Yum! This is a decadent dessert was really creamy and had hint of rosewater. Wasn't too heavy, and had a light airy nature to it. I would say this is a solid end to the experience! In the end, we spent about $105 for this meal. It does lean a bit on the pricier side for two people, but the service was nice, and it is a really good tasting menu if you haven't had Afghan Cuisine before! I would definitely like to revisit in the future to try the other options that Kabul has to offer.

I ordered from Uber Eats. The meal came in a reusable green cloth bag - cute! This was my first time eating Afghani food, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I had the badenjan borani, a spectacularly tender roasted eggplant dish wish surprisingly tasty basmati rice. It wasn't spicy, but very flavorful. I could happily eat it every day. That came with a small cucumber salad, which provided a nice flavor contrast. I also ordered the firmi, a small dessert custard flavored by cardamom, rosewater, and pistachio. It made a lovely end to the meal. The entree cost $24, so this isn't a cheap meal, but I think I'll be using my 40% off UberEats promos here!

A great spot for Afghani cuisine nestled right into the heart of Wallingford -- we stopped my for a friend's birthday dinner and had a lovely time. They were accommodating of our larger group, as well as a last-minute addition of extra people. The waters are super helpful and also so sweet -- since most of us haven't tried Afghan food before, they walked us through the menu and checked in on us during the meal! The ambiance was perfect for a group dinner. All of the food we got was SO GOOD -- special shoutouts to the Mushroom Quorma and Dogh, which were personal favorites. The Quorma was SO flavorful and the Dogh was refreshing. I loved the way the eggplant was prepared for the Badenjan Borani as well. Overall, a great experience and I'd definitely recommend!

As you can see from my review years ago, when my hubs and I came back from a trip to Italy, we wanted to find a gelato shop that had the same quality as the shops in Rome. Not all the gelato and sorbetto we had in Italy was good, some flavors tasted artificial, and during our time there, we learned how to tell the good from the meh. When we returned to Seattle, we were happy to find great-Italy-like gelato at the Bottega Italiana in Green Lake. After that shop closed (still sad about that!) we started going to their other shop by Pike Place Market. For years, this place featured delicious, fresh, quality gelato and sorbetto that tasted like the flavors they were labeled with--so strawberry tasted like eating real strawberries and so on. But on a recent visit, I got a small cup with strawberry and raspberry-dragon fruit and the first flavor I got when I tasted it was sugar. As I ate more of it, it started to remind me of Jolly Rancher candies, not totally, but enough to turn me off. They use just enough fruit to make you believe it's the flavor that it's labeled with, but the amount of sugar and other things added makes their fruit flavors as meh as the not-so-good shops we learned to avoid in Rome. Alas, I think my favorite gelato shop in Seattle has fallen prey to profit over quality. Why, Bottega Italiana, why??? It makes me and my hubs very sad. The only reason I am giving two stars instead of one is because the service was friendly and efficient, and my hubs's dairy-based gelato flavors were all right--not great but all right. Over the years, we've tried all the other gelato shops in Seattle and none of them measure up either. I guess it's time we take another trip to Italy.

Not peeking the menu before I went, I was pleasantly surprised at the varieties of chocolate chip cookies they had to offer. Being the office chair I am, I swiveled left and right, inspecting the entire display, and ended up getting one of each (ok, that's a lie... I got 4 of each ). While each of them were great, the Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip cookie got me. The whole wheat offered something a bit different - a bit more of a nutty earthiness that you typically get with a brown butter chocolate chip cookie, but also with the pleasant illusion that I was making a healthy choice by going whole wheat. (Final note: I really tried to work in a "lumbar" pun, but didn't feel it provided much support to the actual review...)
