Good service, great French toast, nice local diner Came here because of a local news program placing this location as its top seed. Decided it was time to make the trek and give them a try. Coming in, place was busy. Lots of people and families getting food and it took a while for someone to seat me. Eventually did manage to get a seat, and after perusing the menu I saw two French toast options that caught my eye. I asked the server out of the apple fritter or granola French toast, which was better. She recommended the granola French toast, stating it was their famous dish and was really good. That was the last time I saw my server. Most of my interactions happened with every other staff member. In a way, it's efficient to have the entire front end staff covering all tables. The trouble being that if you needed something you had to flag someone down and tell them. It's easy to fall through the cracks if you're a small party or a single cover. The coffee was topped off multiple times without asking, which is good. The French toast is very well executed and pretty tasty. They didn't use overly thick bread, but that's good because you don't need to soak it as much. The granola was similar to corn chip crusted French toast in that it gave the toast a distinct crunch. It's not as crunchy as the corn chip version, but still really good. I did see the owner make rounds and talk to the other tables. It's good to see an owner with passion making sure that everything goes right. When it came time to settle, I had to flag down another server to get my check, then again to actually pay at the front desk. It's a great location for breakfast, and I can see why people would love a local gem like this. For my experience this time around, they were swamped which lead to a less than perfect experience. It's still really good though, and worth a try if you're in the area

Fellow Yelper Rich B is always leaving reviews of places I want to try and he did it again with Dom's in downtown Windsor. I was headed up to Northampton MA on an October Saturday morning. My wife and I got to Dom's around 9am. It was hopping but not so much that we had to wait for a table. The menu has everything one would want for breakfast but if you know me, it's all about savory breakfast. Usually if I see a crab cake benedict on a menu, that's what I'm getting. This one was very good, generous and inexpensive compared to other breakfast places, at $16 for the dish. I wish I ordered my home fries well done but they were tasty, if a little underdone. My wife had a Western omelet and she said it was just ok. The onion pieces were kind of huge. She LOVED the one bite of my breakfast, that I shared with her. The staff is very welcoming and they bop around helping every table, which is nice. Cool spot, definitely check it out.

Third time is not the charm, one star down unfortunately. I ordered two egg whites & bacon. The sourdough toasts & grits were as good as before but the egg white & beacon were both undercooked compared to before. The beacon, still soggy not crispy, was a huge letdown compared to last time I had it. They were busy, but I don't think this is completely due to being pressed for time, likely also different cook different styles. Next time ask for egg white well done & bacon crisp, see if that'll get back to where it was before.

    Dom's, Windsor, CT. So good!!!

Food was amazing. Service was friendly and attentive. Love the "old school Friendly's" ambiance, with a home-like feel to it. Can't wait to come back!

Okay... where to start. This place is amazing! I got the Polish Benedict and it had so much flavor in it. Big portions so you won't leave hungry. Had to also try their strawberry covered French toast. Delicious! The waitress was very professional even with how busy she was. Super kind and lovely to talk to. The place is very clean and they take very good care of their restaurant. Nothing is worn out and everything seems well taken care of. Can't wait to come back.

This has been a great place to get breakfast especially if you live in Windsor as there are not a ton of options in town. I still go every so often and I live out of town, even used to come here when it was friendlys and as far as the inside nothing has changed but Good food, good service. Its in my rotation. If you are staying near or on your way to Bradley in Hartford, Dom's is worth the detour. Dom's serves breakfast and lunch, but the menu is broad and has some interesting items including lots of Benedict's, homemade hash, and special pancakes/French toast. Husband ordered "The Eatery" : a bit like of everything including eggs, sausage, bacon, French toast or pancakes, toast. I ordered veggie omelet. The omelet was prepared more like a crepe, with a thin egg coating with lots of sautéed veggies inside. Absolutely delicious! The place has a small town, homey atmosphere. Service was on point. Looking for an excuse for return!

We stopped in as we waited for family to arrive at Bradley airport. The diner used to be a Friendly's and has been around a while. It was busy. The staff were great. We had grinders which were excellent!! Lots of privacy for each booth with the barriers they put up probably during Covid. Worth a visit!!

Wheat toast, bacon, egg whites with spinach and Other veggies and last but not least my favorite grits with butter and BP.
    Jacqueline F.

My favorite food is breakfast food. Especially, grits. I get all that plus the bacon, egg whites and wheat toast. The staff is always friendly and our Oder comes out in a timely manner. The restaurant is always buzzing with people laughing and enjoying their meals. The tables are always clean. It makes for a wonderful ambiance.

"Nothing you could say could tear me away from my guy…read moreNothing you could do, 'cause I'm stuck like glue to my guy" (Mary Wells) We took a morning coffee break, and had a wonderful time chatting, relaxing, sipping our drinks, and enjoying the friendly, mellow, and very chill atmosphere at the Café by New England Coffee Guy. They have plenty of seating, some upholstered furniture and we saw a few Friday morning telecommuters working on their laptops and sipping their coffees. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid). We loved our visit to the Coffee Guy, and I was so impressed by the total experience, I just subscribed to their newsletter. So the next time we're looking for a midday break or afternoon pick-me-up..... I know a guy!

Mon to Sat they open at 5am. I was only 10 minutes away from 6 but I figured they look like a place I'd want to eat at anyway and fate brought me to this awesome establishment. Upon entering it's not too bright and not too dark especially for this hour. The place looks immaculately clean. It's your typical diner feel just a little more modernish with the color scheme inside. Two breakfast bars and the rest booths and tables. Round stools at the bar for seating. The waitress greeted me and I just sat at the breakfast bar. I got a a coffee to start, nice med - dark roast. Not burnt and tasted freshly made, good quality Java to wake you up. Better than Dunkin could offer lol. For my breakfast I decided on the Crazy Good Hash and a side of sausage (they offer links or patties, I love my patties so that's what I chose). First bite was just amazing. I wasn't sure what to expect .. I low key was just thinking it would be the stuff from a can like other diners use but no.. you will not get that here. It was legit fresh corned beef... griddled with hashed potatoes .. it was light and flavorful, crispy crust and soft interior. Not drowning in sodium like the can stuff. The corned beef really just melted in your mouth, so juicy and tender just like a properly cooked corned beef should taste. It was just amazing and I was completely blown away. Paired together with high quality eggs and perfectly toasted with butter toast, there was not one bite left. I couldn't stop eating it. I was almost sad with my last bite .. but I was about to explode anyway since it was a very generous portion. I'm just a glutton when it comes to good savory foods. The sausage patties were great too .. nice crispy and juicy, good flavor profile, not herby like some .. I don't like those but these were great. Please come give this place a try and go for the Crazy Good Hash and Eggs. You won't regret it.

Made the trek to this little diner to give them a try. The space is small but spacious. Lots of two seat tables and a small bench. Place is cash only, so make sure to hit up an atm before going. Servers were very attentive and friendly. Made multiple coffee refill runs. The coffee is diner coffee, functional but not great. I opted for their French toast bake special, cause I'm a sucker for a good lost bread. No ice cream, so had to do with whipped cream. Had real maple syrup at an upcharge, but could get a half sized version for cheaper. Food came out quickly, took pics and dug in. The bacon was crispy, only a couple lighter spots towards the ends. Whipped cream was from a can, functional. The actual French toast was very well done. Custardy, not very sweet but consistency was on point. Berries were good, but not very noticeable in a full bite. The syrup really helped in getting that true French toast bite of savory, sweet, and warm custardy tastiness. Needed a little more cinnamon and nutmeg in the egg soak to give it flavor throughout, and coated the fruit in sugar or lemon juice to amplify the fruit sweetness. Price wise, was pretty affordable. Everything came out to about 17 bucks which was a good price for the quality offered. As a meal, it was a rather tasty dish for the price. It knows it's a diner style place and they take the same corner cuts that diners usually take. But this makes them a very good choice for locals to get a good breakfast. So I don't trek here for their offerings, but for the area they are a great choice.

Upon entering, we were greeted, seated, and given coffee almost immediately (they have very nice cups with their logo them). Breakfast covers all the basics, and as you might expect from their name, they have a fairly large selection of pancakes and french toasts. The pancakes are quite large, and the flavored ones are often (but not always) based on the toppings. We were surprised not to see a breakfast combo on the menu, so we asked our waitress. She indicated that there was indeed a combo, their "Hungry Man/Woman" plate, which featured 2 eggs, 2 strips of bacon one sausage patty, home fries and a choice of 1 pancake (Hungry Man) or piece of French Toast (Hungry Woman). Our Hungry Man orders came out very quickly, but even so our coffee cups were refilled twice before that! This was good, if somewhat basic, fare, though I'm sure the specialty pancakes, omelets, benedicts and french toasts have some interesting flavors. Besides refills, we were cheerfully checked on frequently. Locals know the value here, as there were numerous obvious regulars having breakfast and coffee at the counter.

"I walked in, the baker said everything was sold I found out…read moreshe saved me some sweet jelly roll Yes, the baker shop boogie" (Willie Nix) Since we're friends, let me ask you a personal question--so tell me this: what's your official dessert policy? Are you a "dessert is a human right" kind of person who enjoys something sweet every night after dinner? Do you ceremoniously pair your evening coffee with a treat like it's a sacred ritual? Or are you more of a free range snacker who grazes on cookies and pastries whenever the mood strikes? At our place, we've somehow drifted into the habit of having a bakery item most nights. Could be a cookie. Could be a pastry. Could be a slice of something. All this brings me to yesterday's visit to the Hartford Baking Company in South Windsor, where we are now pretty well stocked for a week's worth of upcoming desserts, and maybe a breakfast or two. They have four locations in the Greater Hartford area, all selling the same amazing product line of bread, ciabatta, and rolls. But for the sweet tooth fiends out there, well get psyched for their scones, muffins, Walnut Coffee Cake, Financiers (a French almond cookie), brownies and bars, cookies, biscotti, shortbreads, Danish, Cinnamon buns, Pecan-Walnut Sticky Buns, Brioche Pastries, fruit tarts, and quiches. We were running errands in South Windsor yesterday, popped into Hartford Baking, and walked out with a bounty of wonderful looking goodies- brownies, a croissant, a chocolate banana muffin, a rectangular Financier, and a slice of coffee cake. We should be set for a while in the dessert department. I had the Financier last night, and never having heard of the word before, I consulted the old Google machine for some research and found a very cool origin-story. In the late 1800's there was a pastry shop located near the Paris Stock Exchange. The shop sold very popular small almond cakes that were baked in small rectangular molds resembling gold bars. They were a hit with the busy bankers who frequented his shop. The name "financier" stuck because of both the clientele and the gold bar shape. I have to tell ya, that Financier was amazing. It was dense and delicious and overflowing with almond flavor. I loved it. I also had a teense of the Banana Muffin this morning, and it was excellent as well. Loved that banana flavor and those chocolate chips. OK, so file away "Hartford Bakery" on your short list of "must visit" dessert destinations, because I assure you that you'll walk out a satisfied customer.
