    Dining at Domo!!
    Michelle S.

If you are a Domo fan, this is a cute cafe to put on your list. All of the staff are friendly and there's plenty of free parking outside. We each got a cheeseburger which were fine. Nothing exceptionally special about them but they had good taste and the waffle fries topped with furicake were perfectly cooked. Protip for smaller eaters: order the jr cheeseburger and you get fries and a side of fruit! I ordered a Domo fried egg on the side which you can see in the picture came with his trademark image.

Found out that this replaced the Gudetama Cafe and that it was only going to be here for a limited amount of time (check their website for the countdown!), so my friends and I decided to come here on our Friday off. Parking is easy peasy here. The mall is pretty much dead at this point. I arrived exactly at 11AM on a Friday and there were already people in line. It wasn't outrageously long, but around 11:30ish, people in line had to wait until the first round of people dining in were done. I was lucky and fortunate enough to have a hostess that was understanding when my friends hadn't arrived yet. She asked me to wait on the side, and once one of my friends arrived, she mentioned that it would be best to get seated soon or we would have to wait. Shortly after we sat down, my other friend came in. The interior decorations were so cute!! They had quite a lot of merch near the front counter. They have a claw machine where you can buy tokens and get a chance to win one of their domo boba plushies! If you follow them on instagram, show the staff at the counter to get a raffle ticket. They don't have much photo opp installations inside compared to Gudetama, but they did have a photo booth! Our party got the Domo Moco, Smash Burger and the Domo fries. The Domo fries reminded me of animal style fries and it was a good portion size! I really liked the Domo Moco, that gravy is to die for. I would come back just to have that again. As someone who drinks matcha regularly, I thought their matcha strawberry was a-ok, but I knew what I was getting myself into. As someone who has visited Gudetama Cafe, I do feel like portion sizes at Domo were a lot better than Gudetama. I initially thought I'd be able to order dessert, but I was already quite full halfway through. I do see myself coming back to try other dishes and desserts. Would recommend lining up early to avoid long wait times.

Our second time getting in was a win! We tried coming about a month ago and the line was pretty long so we left because we have somewhere to be. Yesterday, we went pretty close to closing and walked right in. First of all, they greet you when you walk in and make an announcement if you're celebrating something like your birthday. The service was exceptionally good! From our host who brought us in, to our server, and finally to the cashier who rang up our merch and offered to take pictures of us. The staff seem to enjoy working there and you can tell they're having fun! The food was delicious! I got the Domo Moco and my daughter got the Domo Boss Burger. I had the Iced Cookie Coffee which was a Vietnamese coffee with Oreo Cookie crumble and it was so good! For dessert we had the Domo's Lava Bites, chocolate flavor. They were yummy! You can purchase tokens for their claw machine and actually win a Domo plushie. They also have a Photo Booth and other cute things that make great photo opps. My daughter bought a cute jersey and hat clips! I hope this one stays around longer than the Gudetama Cafe. We missed that one but would love to come back to this one!

My boyfriend and I decided to go out to try this café since we've been seeing it online recently, we tried not to go in with expectations since it's just a themed café. Honestly, the food was terrible. Our food came out cold, in a way it tasted like it was microwaved, but it's been sitting. I got the golden Katsu curry because I feel like you cannot go wrong with a Katsu curry. The chicken was very dry. The rice was very cold and dry. The curry was very sweet. My boyfriend got the kimchi Katsu sandwich and he said it was way too sweet and the flavors did not work well. However, he did say the fries did taste good, which I do agree on since I tried them. What was not pictured was the curry mac & cheese, it was also very cold and very strong in curry flavor. It was pretty mediocre, but overall, we both really wish that the food was hot. As for service, the service was decent, she did her job. She also brought me a stand for my bag, which I appreciated. But it was not above and beyond service, which is okay. Overall, the vibe of the café it's very cold in there and the lighting is very bright. I went to the Photo Booth it does not let you retake photos and also the timing is off. Just wanted to give a heads up to not go into this place with expectations of amazing food.

The animated character Domo has been the mascot of NHK TV Japan since 1998. As of this review, the only Domo cafe in the world is this one in Buena Park. Located on the back side of Buena Park Downtown Mall, this cutesy cafe is past the initial craze but still can be busy on weekends. I came for lunch on a weekday. There was no line outside at the hostess station when I arrived (but a short one formed by the time I left). The hostess escorts you inside where staff loudly yells "welcome," which is similar to the greeting "Irasshaimase!" given in Japan when you enter a store or restaurant. As expected, the interior is whimsical with lots of Domo art on the walls and a couple of Domo displays. This is a casual table-service restaurant; I had excellent service throughout my meal. I ordered the Golden Katsu Curry and a Milo Dinosaur as my beverage. Both were brought to my table promptly. The plate consisted of chicken katsu swimming in Japanese curry along with a huge scoop of Jasmine rice topped with a sunny-side-up egg (with Domo's face on the yolk). The curry was surprisingly quite delicious and the pre-sliced chicken katsu was tender with a very good panko coating. I'd rate this curry plate in the league of what I call "fast food curry shops" in Japan. Perfectly good in every way but a lower quality than fancy katsu restaurants. The menu described the Milo Dinosaur as a "rich chocolate malt...served ice-cold". It was okay, like a thin-consistency chocolate milk with malt mixed in plus too much ice. They had three dessert options, and I chose Domo's Lava Bites, which the menu described as four fluffy pancake bites in chocolate or maple flavor, covered with whipped cream and strawberries. You can choose your flavors and I got two of each. I was expecting mini pancakes, but they were pancake balls. The chocolate and maple flavors were well-pronounced and the pieces of chopped strawberries and whipped cream combined to make this a unique and tasty little dessert. Be prepared to pay through the nose; prices are probably nearly double what they should be. It's meant to be a fun and unique experience rather than a culinary revelation and in that respect they deliver.

The food is okay, it kinda tasted like the food was precooked and just reheated before getting to us. The kimchi Katsu was okay and the pasta sauce split but flavor was okay as well. The fries definitely felt like they were reheated or sat for a while because it was kinda stale. The drinks are good, very sweet though. Even on a weekday it's quite busy. Service was very friendly and area was well decorated and clean.

Located at the Buena Park mall or better known Buena Park downtown. Right exactly where Gudetama Cafe used to be. It's really quite odd because they are demolishing the old Sears next-door.. Anyway this cafe is more for the experience.... Domo-kun, the iconic, sharp-toothed brown mascot of Japan's public broadcaster. Very cute character. Today we tried the Domo Boss Burger with a side of avocado and egg (extra for both) it came with fries. Service was good and ambience was very clean. See ya next time!

Made it out here today for lunch. Waited in line at 10:40am, got to the front to speak with someone at 11:20am and they put us on a Toast app waitlist. Then got a text saying our table for 2 was ready at noon, and finally sat down to order around noon-ish!! So that's about a 1 hour 20 min wait, good thing it was a Friday and cloudy so we didn't get burnt. Once inside, the decor was so cute. A Photo Booth to take pictures for $8 for 2 photo Strips. We ordered some things to eat on site and then took home some items for my husband and eldest kiddo. What we ate on site: 1) watermelon and pineapple cooler x 2 - this was so tasty and refreshing! 2) Dino chocolate milk - kiddo appropriate drink but he did not enjoy it 3) Domo wagyu burger - burger was a bit dry but love how Domo is on the cheese and the Domo egg I got on the side for $2. 4) umami pasta with mushroom - delicious!! You can get it with chicken but we opted out 5) Domo-yaki with ham and cheese for dessert - tastes like a McGriddle without the syrup 6) Domo button pin for merchandise $2.50 7) photos from the Photo Booth $8 What we took to go: 8) Domo Katsu plate - kiddo enjoyed this! 9) Domo loco moco - husband said it was decent but sauce was not the best he's had Air conditioned inside and staff yell "welcome" once you step inside the door. Kid got a Domo coloring paper and crayons to kill some time. Not sure we'll be back again but definitely a must stop at least once!!

So cool to see this spot open up with an amazing menu of food, drinks, and desserts, plus a large merchandise wall for fans. I had the opportunity to try a few menu items during their soft opening the weekend before grand opening - made to order, fresh, and delicious! The team is cohesive from front of house to back of house. The owners are kind and clearly take care of their people. For grand opening day, the line wrapped around the building - a testament to the excitement around this place. Like any event offering a unique experience, crowd management is a real challenge, especially when demand is this high. Water was provided to guests while they waited, which was a thoughtful touch. That said, queue logistics are something any new venue has to grow into. Having a dedicated merch-only line separate from the full café experience could go a long way in making the flow smoother and the wait feel fairer for everyone. First-day feedback is valuable, and I believe this team has the heart to take it seriously. Overall, super proud of this mom & pop team and all the hard work it took to open this location. Looking forward to bringing friends and family here soon!

domo loco, umami cream pasta, strawberry mini refresher, pineapple/watermelon refresher

my friend and i stopped by the cafe at around 6:45 PM on a monday night. there was no line so we were seated right away. - the cafe was decorated domo themed. there was a lot of merch on the right side of the cafe when you walk in and a photobooth at the back corner of the cafe. - we got the domo moco, umami cream pasta, the strawberry lime refresher, and the pineapple/watermelon refresher. the domo moco (4.3/5) was flavorful with the meat and the gravy that it was paired with. the meat was something new that we haven't tried before so it was a bit interesting. the pasta (4.4/5) wasn't too strong on the umami flavor and there was a right amount of sauce to pair with the pasta. both refreshers (4.3/5) were refreshing and paired very well with the two dishes, but it is indeed on the sweeter side. - we got our food really quickly and the servers were nice and assisted us to our needs. i didn't catch their name but shoutout to the worker who gave me a new domo mini flag that came with the pasta hehe. i love themed cafes so this was a nice cafe to check out after they replaced the gudetama cafe

Me and my friends visited the pop up for Domo Kun Cafe. The cafe is pretty spacious, there was a lot of staff around and they were all very helpful. Design and all of their merch were all cute. Apparently the staff there are the ones who designed the merchandise. The food below are the ones we tried and shared. As per my friend the coffee she got was really good. I had a refresher which I was not a fan of just because it did have some soda in it. Food wise, pretty decent. The presentation is really cute. Overall it was a really nice experience. They also had photo booth inside which we 4 trued to fit in.

Very cute spot. The food was honestly better than I thought it would be. I ordered the Boss Burger with an egg and some rice as well as the curry Mac & cheese. I think the curry Mac & cheese was pretty good but it's not my personal taste pallet and that's ok. I would still recommend it for those that love Mac & cheese and curry. The burger was both crunchy and juicy so it was very delicious. I got the cinnamon matcha as well and the first sip wasn't what I was expecting but the more I drank it the more I loved it. I got some of the fried Sando to go so I haven't tried it yet but it looks so yummy. All of the menu items sound so appetizing so I am considering coming back to try some more. The food was a little pricey but it's to be expected at a themed place. Also it's called a cafe but it's treated more like a sit down restaurant so they will have someone lead you to a table and serve you rather than walking up to a counter. The staff were all very nice and quick to be there for whatever I needed. I do think it could use some more or better merch options but other than that it was enjoyable.

this place has such an incredible vibe! i genuinely love it here. the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, making the entire experience feel truly special. everyone my party and i interacted with was welcoming and kind. i loved how everywhere you look, it's just domo! not only is the atmosphere great, but the food is also absolutely delicious. i highly recommend the katsu curry because it was incredibly filling! we also tried the waffle fries and the juicy chicken, both of which were fantastic. additionally, there's a photo booth, which is a perfect touch, and parking is completely free in the huge plaza. 100% recommend!!!

I'm not sure if they don't have the AC running enough because the place gets so crowded, but I was sitting there trying to study and eventually got so hot that I had no choice but to leave. Honestly, I feel like a coffee shop being THAT hot is serious enough to take off two stars. The coffee itself deserves five stars--it really does taste that good! The outdoor area has a good amount of shades spots that block the sun and its heat. The coffee menu is unique and delicious. The drinks are really well thought out. They have a few syrups made in-house. I tried their pistachio latte and it was perfection. It has little pieces of pistachio in it and so every sip has a bit of it. I had the bulgogi panini and I wasn't sure what to expect but it surpassed anything I could imagine that panini would be. Whoever came out with this combo is a genius. You must try it! Overall, I will be back. Even though I live a bit far , this spot is totally worth the drive.

I stayed for three hours, and I ended up asking for two hot water refills for my tea. My seat was so soft and plush, I never felt restless. Plus, the music was the perfect background noise for maintaining focus. Even the sandwich was light on my stomach, so I didn't get a food coma. All in all, I was very comfortable and very content. The ONLY reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5... parking was really hard! Maybe my mom and I were naive, but we were shocked by all the cars on a Thursday at 1:30pm. Even the nearby library was full. My mom made me get out and order first, so I'm not quite sure where she parked... anyway... I'll end by saying again that the back garden is adorable!

Unfortunately, that turned into over an hour--with no updates from staff during that time. What made it worse was that we only found out after we had already paid that the kitchen was backed up. That's something customers deserve to know upfront so they can decide whether they're willing to wait. We were also there with a baby who needed to go down for a nap, which made the long, unexpected delay even more difficult. On top of that, they had already run out of matcha and the menu was extremely limited, which was disappointing considering that's one of the main draws of a place like this. Overall, poor communication and lack of transparency really ruined the experience. I understand delays happen, but being upfront and managing expectations would have made a huge difference. Extremely disappointed. We went to this place a long time ago when they first opened and remembered them having a more extensive menu and it being far better. Sad to see that this place has gone downhill. My family and I will definitely not be coming back again.

We ordered a jasmine milk tea with regular boba, a matcha strawberry with crystal boba for a total of $13.52. Sad to say, we won't be coming back. The jasmine milk tea was super watered down and boba was flavorless. The strawberry matcha was weirdly sour and matcha tea flavor was non existent. Save your money and go to a reputable boba shop. Also their claw machine games are super rigged so yelpers be warned, do not waste your money here!

By far one of the worst cafes I've been to. I'm genuinely confused how this place has such high…read moreratings compared to even other cafe spots. It's concerning. 100% do not recommend coming if you're looking for a cafe with good drinks. Reviews are heavily glazed. First time coming for a pop up and I waited 4 hours in the heat. I ordered the strawberry peach smoothie and I even asked for it to be less sweet/50% and it ended up tasting like diabetes in a cup. Way more sweeter than even my friends drink???? which they didn't even ask for any adjustments either. Clearly they don't honor what the customer wants and most if not all is just cheap syrup. Everyone was nice in terms of customer service except the owner. She has the audacity to tell everyone in the crowd "everyone having a good time? Anyone angry?! GOOD! Because today is a big day so everyone should be happy no angry!!" Try standing in the 90 degrees of heat for 4 hours first. The pure pressure to just say that to make everyone "have a good time" is crazy. Yeah it's a big day but doesn't mean you did a great job for your customers to be happy out in the sun like that. Poorly managed and could've provided shade and more water to people who were waiting in line in the heat. The drinks were a huge disappointment and honestly the menu itself was a red flag. Instead of trying to maximize everything to be cheap, try updating the look of the menu at least please because the menu itself looked really ragged up and dirty despite it being laminated. The AC was non existent, even my car blew cooler air which is crazy, for a place that has held many pop up events, they seems to just want to maximize everything instead of actually taking care of their customers. Props to the artists and helpers for trying their best to make the event fun, but in regards to the cafe specifically, I would not recommend. The pop ups are heavily carrying this cafe. I'd rather go to Quickly than to drink anything from here. Stop glazing this place with the 5 star reviews because it's obvious why, the pop up carried it. Not the food/drinks itself. I would rather not spend my money to a place that is cheap with their customers.
