This location is simply bad. Management needs to retrain their staff. And also corporate needs to retrain their managers. I went to this location yesterday and started shopping around and i picked up a few items. I was in line for about 15-20minutes. Only one register open and the cashier was lost. There was another employee restocking but he had his headphones on and couldn't hear the other cashier calling him for help. Its not here fault she was left alone while training. Another customer asked her to call the manager but she was in lunch. The manager came to help but she was super grouchy since her lunch was i interrupted . When it was my turn she told me some items i had were not suppose to be on the floor for sale. In my head i was like why have them on the floor then. I had to return my items since she said they made a mistake. When i asked for her name she wrote it down on my receipt but with an attitude. I know we are going thrue tough times but if you don't want to be working simply do go in and if you do go leave your nasty attitude at home. The workers here are rude I came in for a couple balloons and there was a lady blowing up balloons for another customer.As soon as I approached her she told me no more balloons I'm going on my break I just needed one since I had already grabbed some from the ones they had blown up already. So clean and organized! Really friendly staff. Lots of holiday decor and party supplies. And everything is a dollar! Sad my ice cube trays purchased here cracked and broke after one use. Leaving a huge mess in my freezer. But what do I expect for a $1. The store is clean and well organized. We stopped at the post office next door because hubs needed stamps. I jumped over to the Dollar Tree to pick up a few things FAST while he waited in the car. My issue here is with the check out girl. Why was she so slow? Why was everybody in the next line being checked out quickly and efficiently while she was as slow as molasses and staring off into space? It's not rocket science...it's scanning items and putting them into bags. She finished up with one customer and then just stood there staring off into space like a zombie...HELLO...START SCANNING PLEASE! I stood there looking at her and almost told her "Please stop staring off into space and start ringing people up...I don't want to stand here all day...get with the program". Hubs told me "What do you expect for a minimum wage job anyway". Oh no...I worked fast food and in a department store as a teen and NEVER stood there staring off into space while I had a line of customers waiting...and I made minimum wage (or close to it). I am absolutely appalled by the actions of the cashier at the Dollar Tree I just visited. I purchased 7 frames for my company, and while the cashier was moving the conveyor belt along, one of the frames got wedged between the conveyor and the counter. In an attempt to free the frame, the cashier broke the glass inside the frame, yet instead of informing me so that I could grab a new frame, she still put the frame in my bag, so that she could move the line behind me along. I didn't realize this until I drove all the way back to work. I don't care about the monetary value as it was only $1, but I do care about the integrity of your employees. read more

It's funny how a customer named Isabel S. Refers the employees as rude ass bitches who do not help and just start chit chatting. When in reality I know how hard they work to maintain the store. I am a regular customer I know how they are. She was just upset because in the end she left with just one cupcake ballon. I know exactly what happened. She did not grab the pumpkin balloons in the cage as she states, she grabbed the balloons from the other side of the register, how do I know? Well because before she went to grab those balloons I had asked one of the managers for them and she stated they were a pre order someone else had paid for them so I said ok thank you. Now when I saw that she grabbed them I myself told the manager and told her I thought she said they were a pre order? The manager then said that they were a pre order and that thank you for letting her know. Now let me tell you the best part that Isabel also says in her review that a "chubby frizzy haired associate starts yelling at her " now let's correct that. First off aren't you like 10 times her size? I saw you so don't feel you need to lie because comparing you to her you looked like round blueberry with that shirt so let me give you some advice next time don't start referring people with their weight because you are like 10 times her size associate wasn't yelling at her she asked "mam did you get those balloons from that register?" Isabel then goes ,"yeah yeah I know". The associate then tells her that unfortunately she is going to have to give those back because they are a pre order. So then Isabel then gives them to her without saying anything but mumbling under her breath to be honest I thought she was rude. Further on then the store manager tells the manager who spoke to Isabel to put all the Halloween balloons in the office due to the fact that she didn't want customers to start taking the wrong balloons again. Which I clearly understand, I understand that some people just don't read because those balloons had a names on them with a paper stuck on them. So Isabel stop grabbing things that aren't yours and learn to start reading things. Because first off i don't know why the fuck you had to go behind a register. Karen was very nice, helping me with balloons for my son's birthday party. This location is smaller than the one close to South Coast Plaza but more organized. The mylar balloons are the best values here. You pick the design and they fill the helium right there. There are free plastic weights for the balloons at the registers. The ribbons that come with the balloons are very long for most practical purposes, so you might want to trim them short before the party. They last 4 days and started to shrink, so do not fill them too much in advance. Some designs run out often. You can buy the balloons you want in advance including online and fill them right before the event. Other party supplies are cheap but you get what you pay for. Google Map somehow directed me to the back of the store which is an auto shop without even a sign of Dollar Tree. read more

MISLED / ABANDONED This has nothing to do with Costa Mesa store...but Dollar Tree on-line. And (typical) there is no where to lodge a complaint on line with this company. Dollar Tree SELLS YOU THE OPTION to go Expedited Shipment. They will TAKE YOUR MONEY but they will NOT DELIVER. Their claim to process and ship your order quickly for a PREMIUM is a lie. This is NOT a best practice. This is misleading customers to think if they pay MORE for expedited service...that you will actually receive your items earlier than regular shipping. I ordered mesh bags online for my daughter's birthday party. The day was a Tuesday. The options were to get it in the store in 7 days (on the next Tuesday) for free OR pay an additional $10 for express shipping to receive it by Friday. I opted to spend the $10 so I could have it before the party. I called at 8am Friday morning to see where it was. The only customer service phone (available 24/7) tried to transfer me to the shipping department. After 5 minutes, they said that they would escalate the issue to the shipping department and they would call me back. They said that the shipping date was "estimated" and that it was not a guarantee. (Even though they sold me this service for $10.) I called back 2 hours later (10am) and the customer service person again tried to send me to shipping who (after 5 minutes) did not respond. I requested a supervisor who said he could do nothing. That he could not call shipping. That they could not give me a phone number. The only way was for the Sales Department to transfer me to shipping. Even after being on the phone with Customer Service Rep #2 and the Supervisor ("Romey" ID#49582) for over 25 minutes...Romey said he WOULD NOT try the shipping department again (Really?? Even after I requested that he try to transfer me again since it was the only way for me to get to the shipping department. He CHOSE NOT TO ATTEMPT TO TRY AND TRANSFER ME.) Again I was told that delivery was not a guarantee. It seems like they TOTALLY DROPPED THE BALL. Romey said he would escalate the issue to shipping and that it would take 24-48 hours for the shipping department to answer my issue. I asked Romey when shipping worked - would they call me on Saturday or does the 24-48 hour clock stop on Friday night at some random time and not start up until Monday morning. Romey would not answer and would not give me this information even though I specifically asked that question more than once. 24-48 hours from the call at 10am would make it anywhere from Saturday at 10am or Sunday at 10am (if they worked over the weekend). Or Monday or Tuesday at 10am. (By that time I could have gotten in FREE shipped to my local Dollar Tree.) Customer Service Rep #1 said they send the charge to my card on the day I ordered it which usually coincides with shipment. HOWEVER, I could not get a SHIPPING TRACKING NUMBER until Friday at Noon with Customer Service Rep #3. According to UPS...the package is ready to be picked up as of Friday. What's wrong? 1) Expedited shipping - they collect your money but they don't actually do anything to expedite your order. They just SELL YOU SOMETHING but they DON'T DELIVER on the service. I should not have to pay for this. 2) The Supervisor was NOT helpful. He did not give me information on shipping hours. He did not give me a contact number. He would not try again to transfer me even though they only way for me to get to shipping is to be transferred. He was NOT helpful and CHOSE not to try anything to resolve my issue. 3) It's Saturday morning. I'm out $10 for shipping. I'm out $40 for the items that won't be distributed for the party. I'm stuck hosting a party with NO party favors. So what am I supposed to do now??? And I'm POSITIVE that this company won't return my items or my shipping charges even though they didn't deliver items when they said they would. read more

Good as far as dollar type stores go. But the best secret is the helium filled balloons for parties. They are way cheaper than a party city type store or a grocery store and they last a very long time. Will only use them from now on for any balloons I ever get. Best deal around. read more
