I used to really like selling and shopping here. I think they may have changed owners or staff because the last person I was greeted with was rude. She scolded me for needing an appointment to consign items which I was about to accept. Then she said she would take a look (I had maybe 8 items) so we went through piece by piece. She didn't want most of them (totally ok, my cat had gotten into the bag) but she was rude about every piece including the ones she took. I wouldn't go back here for shopping or to sell my clothing. read more

It used to be great with consistently friendly staff. Used to be a great place to sell non designer items . The clothing bus so tight on the racks that it's hard to shop. When picking up your unsold items they will not help and not too friendly when asked for guidance. New staff. Not worth the time to sell here. I got pennies on the dollar for what my things were worth, and they said remaining items were "donated". When I went in, I saw at least one of my items hanging there still for sale! I got $19 for two ball gowns, one dress, two pairs of pants, a jacket, two designer purses, And two hats. This is the worst consignment store in Costa Mesa. You get 40% of the price she decides to sell it add which is dirt low. Then after 30 days it goes on sale. This way, she makes more, and I make even less. After I read about the 30% off sale a month into the consignment price, I went there, ! had made only $28.00. I asked to take the clothes back, and donate them to a woman's shelter, so she charged me $20.00 for that. So I made only $5.00 in a months time. I even had to find each piece in the racks that were stuffed with clothes. The owner/ (blonde and brunette ) were rude, snooty and condescending. I hope they enjoy ripping people off, and charging me $20.00 so I could donate to a woman's shelter. What a pigs. NOT WORTH IT!!!! read more

The worst thrift/vintage/consignment I've been to. The service is terrible. The woman purposefully ignored questions and pretended she couldn't hear even though the store was empty. I was sitting by the door (in designated waiting chairs by the dressing room) and she kept making it a point to walk by me brushing clothes against me instead of lifting it or going a different way. Absolutely ridiculous. My mom was shopping, terrible selection. Everything is huge and outdated. There is no variety. Very few name brands. Can't talk about pricing since nothing was nice enough to purchase. Get better staff. read more

Consigner beware. If you are going to consign here, be committed to checking the donate box. They are really nice when you bring stuff there, but when you go to pick it up, they print the list and let you find it and say they will help if they are not busy. You wander around looking for your stuff and they act really put out to help you find it. I felt like a criminal when I went both times to pick up two different batches of items I brought there. It was the most uncomfortable I have ever felt. Then later I felt anger because you are making free money off things that I paid for that basically fall out of the sky when we bring it to you. And I know a few items that did not sell were stolen items, which does happen in every business. I had also brought 4 jewelry items for a friend. I had to bring my friend back to have her find the last non sold item. Before she spotted it, the owner (who the week before did not tell me she was the actual owner and referred to the owner in the third person when it was really her) was saying she could not see the item in the system when I have the excel list of all the items brought there and the item number. I knew the 40% cut was 44.95 and she was playing stupid and then was saying to find a similar bracelet and she would give store credit. That does not even make sense. You have to pay the next girl whose item we would have picked with the store credit, so why not just pay out? My friend ended up finding the bracelet and we got out of there. The store is cute. They have cool stuff. The prices are fair. But it is funny. I had ended up spending more on shopping than I made after the first drop off while they evaluated the items at my appointment. Bottom line. Anything you bring, you have to figure it is a donation and you are not in it to pick it up. read more

I had never done consignment before and was sent to two different places to help a very busy person sell her beautiful clothes. Each person I've met at the SoLo Boutique was beyond helpful and informative. Being a first timer, they were very accommodating and helped me to learn more about the etiquette of being a customer to this type of business. I'm writing this because I really appreciated the kindness and knowledge I received from them. The other store I was asked to take clothing to was in Costa Mesa also. As a buying customer, I like that they lower the prices on most items the longer they've been in stock there. Beware of this place! The manager/cashier Pilar was not nice at all when I addressed the prices were tricky! They said all jackets are 40% off with the today's tag and they have 3 different dates on tag price but after ringing up everything she did not take off 40% of the jackets that I got from the jacket racks and told me they are sweater and they are really thick coat plus the set of workout pants has only 1 tag but when you look at the receipts they are ring up all separately. I came back right away after seeing $179 on my receipt which my calculations were only about $100 and she denied to take it back! I used to come to this place and never had problems with Sandy but I encountered the blonde lady and she was not nice! Be careful giving her your stuff too while you're still shopping cuz she would ring them up right away without your permission and without you in-front of the cash register! I felt got tricked and will never come back here ever again!!! What a ripoff! I ended up going back to the other consignment only a couple blocks away at "Twice the Style" they have better stuff and better customer service!!! No wonder why I'm always the only one person shopping whenever I come here because of low quality stuff and low quality customer service!! Don't change your store name! I recently visited this store for the first time and had a great shopping experience! First of all the clothing was arranged nicely, well organized. Easy to browse with lots of selections. Very nice vibe! The items are priced well and they also mark them down after 1 month. If you want to risk that it will still be there, you can get an even better price. I came home with a couple tops that look brand new and I would have spent double that amount at a retail store. To top it off, the customer service was great! Thanks! Amy is amazing to work with. She is super efficient and knows her stuff. Has great communication and is very responsive. They are very accommodating in that I was traveling and they worked with me on having someone else pick up my unsold items etc. I will never go to anyone else for clothing items I'm ready to let go of. I went by So-Lo, never having been before after reading the reviews, to possibly consign some clothes. The woman was so incredibly rude. She told me, they only consign by appointment and had me I had to make an appointment.... 3 weeks away. She was very short with me. I was actually dumbfounded, she acted like she was doing me a favor?! I made the appointment bc I was so stunned I couldn't even react and could only go through the motions. I LOVE THIS STORE! I have been coming here for over a year. Seriously, find awesome finds from anywhere from $3-$100 depending on what you're buying - haha! I have never had a bad experience here. So much of my closet is from so-lo and it is so hard to keep this store a secret when everyone asks where I get my clothes. I have found amazing retro jackets, beautiful faux fur and beautiful jewelry. Also, the woman who helps with jewelry, Caroline is a gem! She is so sweet and helpful. It is really hard to find genuine customer service but she has always been so kind and courteous at so-lo. My first time at So-lo boutique. I had an overall pleasant experience but I definitely felt taken advantage of when it came to prices. I grabbed a few pieces and tried them on and was determined to purchase them because of the price. One jacket said $15, a vest for $14.50 and this beaded blouse for $7.50. When I got my bag and receipt back, I noticed she raised the price to $21, $22, and $15 for that $7.50 blouse. When I went to look back on the tags, she had ripped them off. Totally took advantage of me. I called the boutique and clerk just argued with me about how I read the tags wrong?? And that it was pretty much my fault, she never apologized or expressed any regret for my not knowing of their "policy". Either way, she had ripped off all the tags, so I couldn't even look at them and see what she was arguing about, which is fishy on its own. If she would have apologized and admitted her fault in not informing me about the policy and maybe left the tags so I can at least seen reason in her argument, I would have taken down this review. But she was rude and would not admit I was not wrong for not knowing about the policy or being confused by the removed tags. read more

What an interesting experience! It's like if Neiman Marcus and Salvation Army had a baby and then Salvation Army was never to be seen again. :O The clothes were spectacular. I mean some REALLY appealing and unique stuff. Some of the prices were exactly that of Salvation Army or Goodwill which I was really surprised by. I saw some items for as low as $4. I'm assuming it's mainly based on the locale, but even the clientele is classy. Will definitely be making more trips here. read more

This business has very unethical practices. I consigned with them and at the end of term, I went to get my unsold items. Well 2 pair of expensive shoes were missing. The owner said the funds may have gone into the unknown account. She would research and pay me or return the shoes. Also, she took 2 small handbags, stating her daughter might like them.
