Love all the changes that have been made to this sushi spot. Yes, the AYCE sushi is more expensive but it is also better in quality. Also much better variety of rolls. Makes me really want to go back again soon. Inside just feels more cozier and welcoming.

Ambiance - super cute, couple tables along the conveyor belt Service - staff was super nice and came to check on us often Food - fish was fresh, they do give you huge chunks of rice

Had a great time and left very full The staff was very nice and checking in frequently. I really liked that the conveyor belt is covered and you have to lift up a cover to get into the belt. This is in addition to the covers on the individual plates. Would really recommend coming in for all you can eat!

This review is for the dine-in experience. Dodomi Sushi Rotary is a cute and color addition to the Uptown area. The Queen use to go to the former place, Wabi Sabi, but did some take out from here and liked it. I took a gander at the take out and saw two acronyms that made me want to check them out: BYOB and AYCE. We decided to go there for dinner before heading to the Alamo Theater to see Black Christmas. I am so glad we went early because that AYCE hit me so hard I could barely walk back to the car. Sushi is very deceiving....those little pieces don't look like they would fill you up, but man I was full! The décor itself is cute. There was a big neon Hello Kitty on the outside sign, and walking in we were greeted with lots of what looked like cherry blossom lights strung across the ceiling. Space-wise, it is a small location, but there is a parking lot, which was nice as parking can be hard in that location on Sheridan Road in Uptown. The hostess was very attentive and greeted us very warmly, telling us to sit where we wanted to. She immediately asked if we had been to the location before and when we said no, she began to explain the menu and how we could order. Since me and The Queen both opted for the AYCE, it was simply a matter of ordering. Dinner was $33.95 and well worth the price. Because I brought a bottle, our server provided us with the glassware, two flutes. You are presented a paper menu where you can select what you would like the kitchen to prepare for you, and you also have the option to pull items from the rotary as well. What I like about their rotary is that it is refrigerated. There are doors that you have to raise to grab your selection. While we did grab a couple of items from rotary, the majority of the selections were from the menu. The nice thing about the AYCE is that it not only includes sushi but the ramen and dessert as well. While you have the option of just selecting individual items from the rotary, the AYCE is the better deal in my opinion. If you simply eating from the rotary, the price is based on the plate color, ranging from $3 to $7, I believe. For the ramen, I got the Tonkotsu Ramen. Broth was nice and I am sure the bowl size was not the same was what you would get for $16.99, but that's ok as it was filling. I would have liked to have had another slice of pork in there, as it was tender and delish. Dumplings and shumai were good, just standard and similar to other places I have eaten at. The Steam Pork Bao Buns were small. Sort of reminded me of small street tacos. Flavors were good though. The Seared Scallop Nigiri was very nice....next time I will definitely get more of those and steer away from the other Nigiri, not that they were not good, but that extra rice was filling. We also got the unagi Nigiri and that was also nice. Full disclosure, I selected this by accident and this was my first time having it and I like it, so it was a happy accident. All of the food was fresh, guessing because we were ordering directly from the menu and it was being prepared and all was good. Lesson learned for me, stay away from the rotary. No idea what the voodoo is with that set-up, but for me, watching food roll by just made me want to snatch something off of it. All that rice fills you up. Next time, I will stick to the ramen and dumplings first, then save room for sushi. Dinner ended with our server presenting us with a cup full of markers and an apple cutout made of wood. We were told to decorate it so it could be hung up on the wall, so we did...that was fun. Definitely will come back here to eat, but will do so earlier in the day so I can go home and take a nap afterwards.

Food: I bought through too good to go app. So the food might be set for such long time, the avocado already melted and taste not smooth, the roll already fall apart... my stomach feels hurt right after ate the tiny piece with the avocado. And it was such small amount which wasn't meet the expectation compared to all the other stores. So i suggest not buy the "leftover bag". Give 1 star for the food. Service: the staff is very nice, I wasn't pay attention to the pick up time and arrive earlier after order, they just let me wait for 10min and give me the small bag with menu. Give 5 star for the service. Ambiance: truly love the vibe, it's a dream date or hangout place for girls! 5+ start for the ambiance

Disappointing they say they are giving you la croix but don't notify you of any changes when that apparently isn't always the case. I got the grape fruit sparkling water (different brand) when I thought I was getting the lemon cello la croix. So I wasted $2.50 on a sparkling water because I hate grapefruit flavor and they didn't care to tell me I wasn't getting what I paid for. Really annoying lowkey. And illegal technically since they didn't disclose the truth (modify your website accordingly).

Discovered this new sushi restaurant and decided to give it a try. My experience is based off my delivery order. The food portion was standard size, and the fish was not the best quality (I guess since it is a conveyor belt sushi restaurant, their focus is more on the in-store experience and environment). Hama Kama: the fish portion was pretty big compared to other restaurants. Nicely grilled, but the sauce was a bit salty (the veggies included didn't help to settle down the saltiness). Hope the sauce can be set on the side, so customers can adjust the taste on our own. Sashimi Don: Again, this Don comes with sauce (most likely mayo) on top. I think customers should have the option to add the sauce on their own. Also, there are barely any sashimi in this. There are plenty of imitation crab and very small chunks of eel) The sashimi are also cut into small cubes. This bowl is not worth of the price, not recommended. Shiitake Roll: the mushrooms are not well seasoned and marinated. Didn't stand out. Ika Nigiri: Comes with mayo on top. The squid is not fresh, don't recommend. Seared Albacore Nigiri: Albacore was nicely seared and seasoned lightly with pepper. Definitely recommend this if you want to try a seared piece. Overall, I give this place a 3.5. Most items are not worth the price.

This was a fun experience from the moment we walked in. We loved all the decoration. The staff were inviting and attentive. The conveyer belt was fun to try lots of options without committing. I thought, for the most part, the sushi was really good. The rice in particular was good. For kids this was a great option. There were people on dates, too, so something for everyone. Definitely a spot I'd come back to.

Service was fast and excellent. Ambience is relaxed and intimate. I loved it for those two reasons mainly. I want to visit again but my 5 year old will need the "all you can eat" deal because he loves the food way too much.

My first rotary experience and I enjoyed it thoroughly! The inside is very cute with the floral decors and lots of Lego pieces. First time trying inari and I enjoyed it. I was expecting the sweetness but it's well balanced. The tacos are a little heavy and big so you don't get the full flavors. I would like to try the hand rolls next time. Also enjoyed the maki roll. Love the location since it comes with parking!

A complete accident is what led us to find this piéce de résistance! For one, we were just walking…read morethe street, sort of late at night and didn't expect a lot in the final hour of the restaurant being open. Let's just say, they treated us like kings!!! The food- what you would expect and then some. Unique rolls and tasty ramen. The space - super fun!! Cannot wait to go back.

I'd become a regular at the Chinatown Rotary Sushi Bar location. I knew this one existed, but…read morebecause of sheer familiarity, I would always go to the farther-away Chinatown spot instead. One day, finding myself in the area of the Boystown location and not wanting something heavy or large, I decided to stop in. Just like the Chinatown location, this one also DELIVERS. My apologies if any information seems redundant. The quality and variety of the food are excellent! There is something here for everyone, from basic items to more creative options. While there are some things I don't get due to personal taste, I don't believe I had a single bad dish here. Next, I feel that the prices were reasonable for what was received. While some items are more expensive than others, we live in a world where the dollar store is now the "dollar-25 store." So, no issues there... plus, some cheaper places just load cheap crab sticks into everything, which is definitely not the case here. When it comes to the concept, I love the idea and how it is executed. Dishes roam around on the conveyor belt, and you can order anything you want directly from the iPad. Such orders arrive on the upper rail (road?) in under five minutes! There's also a button to call a server, who shows up within a minute. While the focus is clearly the conveyor belt, there is some pleasant, fun, and appropriate decor. Finally, I love that there's a long table specifically for pairs or individuals. This allows for much more efficient use of space when one person isn't taking up a table that could otherwise seat four. Especially since their space seems smaller than that of Chinatown, this indicates intelligent design (always a fan!). Thus, perhaps I shall soon become a regular here too. It all depends on what part of town I'm in when a sushi craving sets in!

All-you-can-eat sushi can be tricky. As someone who likes their maki without tempura shrimp or…read moreanything to do with crab, I greatly appreciate that the menu is vast and has something for everyone. There is also a generous selection of hot and cold appetizers as well as desserts. I was able to try the Caterpillar Roll, the Spicy 2-in-1, Crab Rangoons, and for dessert, a Macaron and a Tempura Oreo (tempura isn't all bad). The Food: Crab Rangoons: These were A-Ok. They may not have gotten out of the fryer a minute before hitting the plate, but they didn't taste like they had been sitting under a lamp a long time, either. They were well-balanced in terms of dough and filling. The filling was appropriately crabby and a little on the sweeter side. Caterpillar Roll: This was delightful. It was a simple eel and cucumber roll, but it was well-executed. Everything seemed fairly balanced, and I devoured it with no shame. Spicy 2-in-1: This roll has the chopped-style fish, which, while not my favorite thing in the world, is common. What I do appreciate is the sheer amount of protein this roll contained--it's essentially a roll and a half! Other than the generous amount of fish, this roll doesn't have anything that makes it stand out. Don't get me wrong, it's by no means bad, just not knock-your-socks-off. Dessert: Macaron: This was severely underwhelming. Macarons are all about the texture, and this one didn't have it. It was fine in terms of flavor, but there's more to them than that. Tempura Oreos: These were a bit better as far as desserts go. It was on the simpler side--an Oreo breaded in tempura and fried. Fair food, essentially! It was something a little different and interesting, though to be fair, not out of this world amazing. The Service What was incredible was the service. It was not only kind, polite, and attentive, but unbelievably fast. I could not believe how quickly my rolls, rangoons, and desserts came out. Whoever is running the show deserves a fat raise! Final Verdict As far as AYCE sushi goes, while Sushi Taku isn't incredible, AYCE rarely is. However, you get an extremely solid product at a fair price and S-tier service most places would and should envy. My advice, and plan for a return visit: come hungry and bring as many sushi-loving friends as you can--order different things, and share everything!

The Alaskan cod sandwich was served on a bed of cabbage covered in a sweet teriyaki & brown mustard sauce with maybe a squeeze of kewpie sprinkled in between. The Berkshire pork eggrolls had microgreens & shaved radish on top of a crema type of sauce that balanced the heat of the kimchi nicely!! For the main attraction I ordered the spicy garlic ramen that was such a delightful mouth experience it really hit all the taste buds! The noodles were perfectly bouncy with the right amount of chew. The jellied egg was perfect and rounded the soup very well! The red chili threads enhanced the spicy miso broth just enough to slurp all the delicious goodness down! My husband ordered the Sapporo miso soup which had more of a creamy type of broth vs the spicy garlic. The noodles were also thinner than regular ramen & had a bouncy springy texture that just hit the spot! Since it was kinda chilly outside we also ordered hot green tea to accompany our spectacular ramen dishes. This place also offers delicious seasonal cocktails on the menu or hot sake if that's what you are hankering for.
