Nothing hits the spot like a bowl of ramen on a cold day, and Birdman definitely delivered! The inside is super cute- from cherry blossom adornments to cameos of famous Pokemon and anime characters, this place brings all the cozy and fun vibes. It was pleasantly quiet with a good amount of space between tables, making it a good spot for a casual date or just to slurp some noodles solo. The staff was also friendly and attentive. I was feeling some extra veggies this time and ordered the vegan shoyu yasai ramen. The dashi broth was surprisingly flavorful yet light. They did not skimp on the veggies and I really liked the addition of steamed dumplings. The marinaded egg was soft-boiled to perfection and my favorite part of the dish. I do wish there were a few more ramen options on the menu, but overall there's something to please everyone. A solid experience all around- I recommend giving Birdman a try if you're in the neighborhood!

After a long morning and late afternoon on my trip, I honestly just wanted to grab some White Castle, smoke, and chill. But I was asked to join our cousin for ramen instead -- and I'm so glad I made that play. Birdman Ramen was well worth it. I ordered the Dan Dan Noodles (soupless). It's noodles in a savory, spicy sesame sauce with ground turkey and chicken, cubed chicken, bamboo, scallions, red ginger, and crispy shallots. I'd rate it about 8/10 on spice and 8/10 on deliciousness. The cucumber slices gave a nice relief from the heat -- I just wish there were a few more. For me, the only thing missing was a little hoisin sauce. The sweetness of hoisin would've blended perfectly with the heat. Even having the option to add soy sauce or sweet chili sauce (readily available on the table) would've taken it up another notch. The vibe was hella dope. The Japanese cherry blossoms (even though they're artificial) were beautifully curated. You can tell there was a lot of thought and passion put into the design of the space. The server was super attentive. He checked on us often, answered all our questions with a smile, and moved quickly while still managing several other tables. My wife ordered the Chicken Yakisoba and will leave her review on her account. Our cousin ordered the Dragon Ball Pizza.

That was the first time I eat there at this nice ramen restaurant in Boystown. I'm totally satisfied with this.

This particular Birdman Ramen outlet is located on West Belmont Ave, and it's hard to miss. It has beautiful aesthetic décor with a decent amount of seating space. I loved the ambiance, especially the manga-style menu they provide. Since I went in on a very cold day, I ordered their Szechuan Tori Paitan (Gold) and a chicken karaage bun. Because I have a high heat tolerance, the spice level in the ramen felt just right. The broth was creamy and delicious. I loved the ramen, but I would have preferred a little more topping and fewer noodles to make it a bit healthier. The crispiness of the chicken karaage paired perfectly with the soft, warm bun, and the peanut sauce on top was lovely. Our server was very kind and attentive. Overall, it was a great experience.

I went here with a friend after seeing this new ramen spot driving by where furious spoon used to be. The food was good! We got the dumplings to start which were super yummy. I got the spicy ramen gold. I would say the ramen was really good but the upgrade for the duck wasn't worth it -- the duck was a little cold. Our server was friendly and recommended some dishes. This is probably one of the best ramen options in our neighborhood!

Sorry to say, this was the worst ramen I've ever had. The broth was bitter, with very little salty flavor. The noodles were way undercooked. The tiny pieces of roast pork were tough. Literally nothing good about it. Service was fast and friendly, which is the best thing I can say about this place.

For sometime, we wanted to try this place. Birdman Ramen seems like a fun place to have some Japanese inspired food. The decor looks amazing. I really like the paper lanterns. The decor reminds me of a movie called Ramen Girl. As a matter of fact, the whole setup looks like a movie set. With the faux cherry blossoms hanging from the ceiling, it gives a very inviting feeling. The food tasted pretty good. I ordered the vegetarian yakisoba. It came with mushrooms, cabbage, mung beans, and carrots mixed with yakisoba noodles. We did not have to wait long for our food. Hats off to our server Adam, as he did a fantastic job in making sure our orders turned out right. Come to Birdman Ramen. Bring friends, family or even host a party here.

Such an improvement for the corner. This was previously furious spoon and it probably has been empty about a year. Birdman put up a nice eye catching mural and the decor inside is great. Lots of pop art, cherry blossom decor, cool seating and dividers, and a wall of Daruma. They have a pretty good menu with a nice selection. I'd honestly like to some katsu, curry, & rice though. Instead I went with a noodle dish just a hearty, Dan Dan noodles. Egg noodles in a spicy sesame based sauce. It's a bit heavy but delicious and savory. I only finished half and had the other half for lunch. My wife had the Vegetable Yaki soba and we split an order of agedashi tofu. Nice portion. Service was very good and attentive. No alcohol so far. I had a pretty good experience. It's a fun spot with great service and vibrant decor. Definitely a great date spot I'd say cause it's pretty but they can accommodate groups too. Definitely recommend to try. I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu.

Was very excited to try this place after driving by it several times and missing Furious Spoon. Loved the vibes and decor inside - this seems like a fun spot to hang with friends and the service was very quick and friendly. The menu has a good variety of options and reasonable prices, but unfortunately the food left a lot to be desired. My husband got the silver tier Szechuan Tori Paitan - the broth was very one dimensional and there was only ground meat and a few thin slices of turkey - nothing that looked like chashu and no chicken that we could find. The bamboo was the best part. I got the salmon don which was literally 5 thin slices of salmon sashimi on a bowl of rice with some seaweed, carrots and tamago. I hope this place is able to make their dishes more rich and flavorful for the future as I think it has potential but unfortunately today fell short.

This is right down the block from us and we finally stopped by last night. Service was super quick and attentive, and it's cute enough inside. The food was a solid 4/5, don't hesitate to stop by if you're in the neighborhood, but not worthy of being a destination in and of itself. We started with the Shrimp Crab Wontons - came out hot and fresh and in a super flavorful sauce.. but the filling in the wontons was packed so tight that it didn't really have much flavor, and dipping only did so much as it wasn't absorbing much of the sauce. Would probably get again, but they weren't anything special. I got the Szechuan Tori Paitan with Chicken Karaaage. Broth had a nice level of spice, and I really enjoyed it but I'd probably try the garlic miso next time. The chicken and noodles in it were good, but unremarkable. Big picture, I don't think you'll be disappointed if you stop by, but I also didn't think the meal was anything special.

Such a much better option for a ramen spot than what was here before. Had the trio salad which was good but I would probably skip it next time. Ramen was good, I like that it was something different. The standard ramen with the silver option was definitely plenty but might need just a hint of spice for more flavor. Service was great, really attentive and willing to answer questions about menu options.

The chicken ramen was also extremely underwhelming, ZERO FLAVOR in the broth and the chicken!!!!! The meat itself was very moist, but the broth honestly tastes like a can of low sodium chicken broth. Really embarrassing excuse for ramen. I really expected more out of this place. Can't compete with A-tier Asian food in other areas. Service was pretty poor too. One girl for the entire floor of tables. Ignored us the entire time apart from getting our orders. Overall not worth coming back when there's so much better Asian food out there to try.

All my previous personal experiences…read morehave always proven to me that restaurants with names that don't represent their culture in distinct ways are generally subpar. For example, I would usually never even think to step into a restaurant named Best China House, Sushi Bistro, or Mom's Korean Restaurant. (Apologies if your shops are named as such. These were meant to be generic examples) Oh, how times have changed. I would have never thought having a bowl of ramen at a Monster Ramen would give me this much pleasure. Part of it will (in fact, most of it) be on me and my general philosophy on fusion cuisine and outdated gemerational gap. There was definitely a time when avoiding agorementioned type of restaurants may have been deemed smart. But I feel the new generation of restaurant owners and chefs have up'd their games in not only at better food making, but also accepting of a bit more irony. Anyone who knows me knows how much I stay away from trying anything "fusion." It's kinda funny to myself how hypocritical it is that I would be totally okay in substituting an ingredient or two when I'm missing some when cooking, but when it comes to paying money to sit and eat that I would judge chefs by thier style of cooking. Yes, a big part of it is based on a large pool of personally gathered data, but I do acknowledge that I need to open myself up a bit more. Case in point. I was recommended MR by a fellow Yelper and I decided to give it a whirl. I happened to have a friend and his son with me, so I was able to do small tastings of 3 different ramen. And boy, was I pleasantly surprised. We collectively had bowls of shio, shoyu and miso specials. Plus, I ended up getting the Summer Special bowl to go for my wife. All of them had their individual charm to them but more importantly, each of them were made to perfection when it came to broth seasoning and noodle texture, which are THE two most important aspect of ramen, in my opionion. Not too salty nor bland soup. Perfectly dense noodles. I just loved all four! It wad when I tasted the yuzu in tgeir shio ramen that my wife would love it. Even though I brought her the spicy Sunmer version home, I still think it'll be worth bringing her and our daughter back when we get a chance to. Our server Dionne (I think) was most pleasant and helpful. The atmosphere of the restaurant was great, too. It helped that I came before the dinner rush, although, I can also see more lively vibe being nice as well. Will be back with the fam definitely!
