    crispy PAD SEE-EIW
    Joseph S.

I am definitely coming back and interested in trying more of the menu. Service was interesting as it seemed like it was in between a server and a self service. As the guy came to us to give us water and take our orders, but we filled our waters ourselves, there was no checking up on, and the check we had to go to the register. I am not complaining just giving more details and insight on the service. This place is also a bit small so if you are coming with a group larger than 5 or 6 it might be harder to fit everyone here. This is definitely a cute place for date night and would recommend trying out their crispy stuff because normally the noodle dishes are not crispy but it made it kind of like chips which I thought was a unique take.

Still just as fabulous and consistent! If you're in the neighborhood stop by. Delicious food and lunch specials.

I ordered mango sticky rice and the mango was pale yellow and hard. Not edible. I also got pad see-eiw with beef and the beef was so chewy.

Their Panang curry noodle with egg noodles is really delicious! Highly recommend! Their lychee strawberry freeze is also very tasty! The lychee flavor combined with strawberry is so refreshing. The tomyum fried rice could've used more flavor but we added tofu to ours, if u added a meat it would be more flavorful.

This restaurant used to be one of our favorite but never again after multiple disappointments our past few orders. This plate of pangang curry is literally water with a little bit of flavor. When we ordered it a year ago it was a lot less watery. The pad-see-eiw the past couple times we ordered was dry. Also this time with our order of crab rangoon they didn't give us any sauce and it seem a little chewier than it used to be. I

I ordered through Door Dash and I credit DD and Che Thai for getting my food to me so quick that it was half the ETA I was given when I placed my order. Needless to say, the food was still super hot when it came! Best price points for the amount of food you get! I swear I've been eating leftovers for days. I like that on most items you can choose your level of spicy. The ingredients used were fresh and light on the oil. I recommend the fried rice, pad Thai, the fried chicken wings, and spring roll. I want to try the drunken noodles next time though. This place will now be my go to Thai take out.

I travel to Thailand frequently and this restaurant reminds of trips to Bangkok for the great street food. I had Pad Thai with extra spice, my bride got the vegetarian and gluten-free option of the same. We both really liked the food. They even gave us a small free spring roll appetizer. Again very good food. But it was the happy helpful workers that really made our day. Both were native to Thailand and had the famous ever pleasant attitude and smiles. Since they have lived in. Chicago for years, no language barriers exist. But it was fun using my limited Thai to speak with them both. We plan to go back often, for the great food, great prices, and great service/smiles.

We ordered takeout and the food was done on time and was still super hot when we got home. Overall a great experience. Crab Rangoon: these are elite rangoons. Some of the best I've ever had, and trust me, I've had a lot of crab rangoons in my life. Shumai soup: this fell a little bit flat. The Shumai were amazing and multiple in the container, but the broth just seemed like it was missing something. Still would get again though. Golden shrimp: this was good, but the breading was a bit heavier than anticipated. Shrimp tasted really fresh though Garlic Black Pepper with tofu: the sauce in this dish is to die for. At one point we were just spooning it onto the rice despite being super full. I love tofu and just wished the tofu had been marinated or had a little crispiness to it. There was a ton of it though, so they don't skimp on the protein! We will definitely be ordering again!

Right: "Tom yum" soup; Left: che noodles

What I ordered: A Tom yum soup with noodles in the soup What I received: A minestrone soup with a separate full entree order of Che noodles While I was pretty clear in my order of a "Tom yum" soup with an add-on of noodles, I was charged for (and subsequently received) a full extra entree. I was asked if I wanted lo mein or Che noodles inside (?????) I should've known to ask about it when the bill came to $22.... Mea culpa. The noodles thing might have been an honest misunderstanding -- While the cashier gave perfectly fine customer service, it was 86°F inside the restaurant and she was visibly sweaty and tired. I think she was overheating. If the heat was uncomfortable for me as a customer I can only imagine what the back of house feels like, standing right next to the deep fryers & stove! I'm pretty sure OSHA requires you to have a working A/C in order to have your business open... The crispy Che noodles are tasty enough, but the "Tom yum" is most definitely not actually a "Tom yum" soup. The beef in it is nicely tender, but the flavor of the rest is... Campbell's tomato vegetable soup. There's no hot nor sour anywhere here. I came here hungry and I am leaving disappointed. Neither of these are what I had hoped to receive. For her part, my wife ordered a tofu Penang curry sans bell peppers (and was served with the bell peppers.) Her veggie fried egg rolls were decent, though. She gave up eating the curry halfway through.

Panang was 10/10 as takeout. Sooo good and the portion of actual curry they give you is perfect.

Ancient Grounds Coffee Co is located on Belmont, not too far from the Red Line. There was plenty of street parking, but was odd that the signs said the training was 24/7, but when I tried to pay on my app, it would not accept it, so I took a photo of the app saying that just to be on the safe side. The store is very bright and clean. We had a problem getting in, initially thinking the store was closed, although we could see folks in there. Turns out that the door is somewhat hard to open, and fortunately the gentleman sitting in the window alerted us to push real hard. Turns out while we were there, he was the unofficial doorman letting others know to push real hard. Since the flight was unavailable, we decided to have breakfast. The Queen got the Best Damn Ham & Egg (bacon, ham, egg, and pepper jack cheese on a croissant) and I got the Breakfast Burrito (sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash browns, and cheddar cheese wrapped in a flour tortilla, side of salsa). Both of these were quite good, fresh in flavor. I also got a cranberry orange scone, which was also quite tasty. Before I could ask if they could warm it up, they offered to do so. I love pastries and I need them warm, so kudos to them for offering without me asking. The Queen got a Biscoff Latte (secret recipe syrup, a double shot of espresso, milk, whipped cream, topped with a biscoff cookie. This drink is 16 oz in size. She said it was delish and that the cookie was just lovely. I got a standard mocha with almond milk and that was very good as well. There are seating options throughout the location and ample room if you want to work on your laptop: tables, benches and couches. I like that they offer different sizes (8 oz, 12 oz, and 16 oz) for certain drinks, while some come in 16 oz only. And there is the option of hot and cold drinks. Service was cool. The staff was pleasant. Once you place your order at the front counter, they will call you up to the front to pick up your drinks and eats. I have to also mention that they were playing some great dusty tunes to groove on a Sunday morning. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable, especially when you compare it to a Starbucks. Avocado Toast under $10, yes you heard that right. I can definitely see myself coming back here on an early Sunday morning to just chill, drink and eat, it was that much fun. Before leaving, I did thank our doorman for his service in helping all of us to get into the joint. Next time, I will know to use some muscle to get into Ancient Grounds Coffee Co.
