Expensive and unskilled labor. They told me my graphics card was faulty despite not removing it and testing it in a confirmed good system which is basic hardware troubleshooting 101. Had to specifically request that. After "upgrading my system" it does work better to an extent other than the constant crashing that this shop couldn't even diagnose and only started occurring after the hardware install. I don't have a lot of confidence that this outfit will give me good value. I spent $290 for a site survey for my granny unit to improve its internet reception (Starlink through the main house). Almost 3 weeks later, Derek finally issued me some recommendations. The ostensible reason for such delay in receiving the report was "a death in the family." For how measly a report I received, I would have thought that Derek could've issued said report in the airport en route to "funeral." I hate to be a non-empathetic "birther," but show me the death certificate! Furthermore, I took notes on what issues Derek would address in his report. Had I not taken notes, I would have received just one shoddy email detailing the new switch he recommended. Subsequently, I had to ask about 1) change in router setup to streamline my system, and 2) whether or not I could tap into my neighbor's AT&T fiber connection. They included an estimate for cost. I take issue with charging for travel time at the same rate as IT; so just a half hour trip one-way from Rohnert Park to my house in Healdsburg will run $82.50! No thanks. Overpriced outfit. And yes, I was fully aware that the site survey would cost $290. I'm complaining about the promptness and value of service. Low value for the price. read more

We had a problem with an old but still working computer in our office, and they were not only willing to check it out, but they also ordered a part for it that is not easy to get. We also took our home office computer in when it wouldn't boot up and they were able to look at it and diagnose in a reasonable time. The repair was great and is still going fine. I also feel the quality of work is high but the price is very reasonable. We are happy to know that they are there if and when any more problems come up. read more

I had a lot of issues with my older laptop and took it to be cleaned up and felt it was still not good enough and was referred to them by a friend and called them and they were awesome! I was treated professionally, and they explained what they would do in easy terms. I took down a website a couple of years ago that ran a program written in PHP coding. I recently got the website up and running again, but the PHP program wouldn't run because it was tied to a database and a cron job, both of which were on the serve. The PHP program had to be reconnected to a database and the cron job on the server. I talked to Corby, I believe the owner of DK Systems, and he referred me to Derry, a computer programmer. He said I would have to pay an initial fee of $405 to check out the program, at which time he would give me a price. I foolishly paid the $405 and sent Derry the program for his inspection. Derry created the subject line of "Website Troubleshooting." I told him that the program worked fine when I took the program down and that it didn't need fixing. He soon after told me that I was right, the program seemed to be written properly. Soon after, I got a phone call from someone who said he worked with Derry. He said that the program needed a lot of work because of this, that and the other. He said it would cost $5,000 or $6,000. I don't think I spent more than $1,500 to write the program in the first place. I emailed Derry and asked how it went from looking fine to costing $5,000 or $6,000. He never responded. So there you have it. It sounds like a scam to me. read more

I needed help with a pretty simple task: getting the data from one specific folder off of an old hard drive and onto a flash drive. I first went to a different business (in Petaluma) for help, and they copied over a bunch of other files, but not the one folder I asked for. Then, I asked a friend for help and the same thing happened. Sigh. After calling around to several places in the Santa Rosa/Rohnert Park area, I decided to go to DK Systems because (1) they actually answered the phone when I called, and (2) they were able to answer my questions and give me a clear price quote and timeline. When I dropped off the hard drive, DK Systems said that they would waive the diagnostic fee because there was no diagnosis needed (only data transfer). They said they would charge for 1 hour of time (although it wouldn't take that long), and that they would get back to me within a couple of days. I was pleasantly surprised when they called the next morning to let me know that they were done. I was even happier when I got home and took a look at the contents of the flash drive, and the folder I asked for was on it! Although I would have appreciated if they hadn't charged a full hour for a relatively quick task, I am so glad to finally have access to those files! read more

For a mere extra $29.99, DK Systems staffer Chris was able to bump my service to the top of their list. He ran the diagnostic overnight, which correctly identified my issue as a failing hard drive. Most of my diagnostic fee was then applied toward the repair charges. DK Systems installed a new hard drive and returned my computer to me at the promised time. The guys at DK are true pros! I bought a new computer for my son at Best Buy, an HP two in one tablet laptop. It had problems so naturally I took it back to Best Buy because it was under warranty The GEEK SQUAD aka UP SELL KINGS decided that I needed to buy a $250 service plan from them because they said that the issue with et computer was not a warranty issue and as I was just about to sign up for it they then told me it would take approximately 45 days to fix! I then grabbed the computer and went to DK Systems. I have used DK before and they actually fixed my sons computer, under warranty and way faster than Best Buy. I was on a business trip to the East Coast and spilled water on my apple laptop, it shut down and of course I was concerned because of all the data on the unit. When I returned I took it straight to DK, they said that they were not sure they could recover everything and then they told me that a certain module for recovery had to be ordered from China due to the fact that Apple had used a new sophisticated hard drive in my Mac Book several years earlier and that they actually changed the hard drive after only one year so the recovery "tools" that third party vendors made were limited to say the least. I agreed that they should order that part even though it was estimated to take about 30 days for delivery and even then they could not guarantee that the data could be recovered! What I really appreciate is the TRUTH! the guys at DK told me the best and worst case scenario. After only a couple weeks I got a call that said the part had come in and that they were able to recover my data! they even took my new computer and loaded all the files up for me. Everything was there and I was able to resume my normal daily computer work "now heres the good part" THEY WERE UNDER BUDGET AND FASTER THAN THEY PREDICTED! EXCELLENT CUSOTMER SUPPORT! I brought my laptop in because it was having trouble 'waking up' up closing the top. Also, it needed memory and I was told it could benefit from a tune up. I now understand that this is computer repair speak for "hey, moron, glad you're here - I have an imaginary service for you buy." At any rate, they took the laptop, then when I went to pick it up during normal business hours, they were closed with a note on the door. Worried and in need of my computer, I called. I was not impressed by this place. They had my computer for a full week before I was contacted about the cracked screen, which they understood my concern about, but did not address fully why there was extra time taken for the internal analysis. Communication skills were lackluster over the phone and in voicemail. I was also told to come in at anytime, but they were locked up with no phone response during "open hours" with no note on the door. So I had to drive over twice, which is unfortunately not ideal for my schedule. I wanted to give the benefit of the doubt for that, because things happen, but apparently they close anytime the employee goes on break, so give them a call before you visit them. I got my laptop back and there is at least one part rattling around inside, which worries me that it'll cause damage, but I am not willing to take it to someone again with how expensive it is. I did not notice it until I got home unfortunately. Again, perhaps a benefit of the doubt for them not noticing it either. I would recommend getting a quote somewhere else first as the fee here is hefty if you choose not to follow up with their additional services. All in all, unfortunate circumstances combined with the laid back service resulted in a poor experience. read more

No stars at all! During evac i dropped off my 6 year old Gateway running on Windows 7 to be upgraded to Windows 10. I had to pay $75 upfront for a diagnostic to see if they could do the upgrade. When i came to pick it up i was told that they didn't install it and that i had to buy a new computer. I asked for a refund but didn't get it. When shopping for a new computer i found out that it is common knowledge that Microsoft recommends to get a new computer if yours is running on Windows 7. No need to do a diagnostic! But they should have known and maybe they did and they thought they can rip off a 72 year old! Worse: The technician talking to me was so drunk that i had to step back to avoid smelling the stench coming out of his mouth! He told me he removed 3000 viruses and wouldn't charge me for that, well, whats the point when you have to get a new computer anyway. read more

They also had a very small time window (less than 24 hours) in which to get everything done (I needed my computer back in time to send my payroll data to make sure all our employees got paid!). I had the worst experience with this company. They told me my computer needed some parts, after three weeks of waiting I had to buy another computer, and decided to cancel the repair. They still charged me $75 for the non refundable deposit, plus 20% restocking fee for the part that they never received, plus they placed the wrong screws in my computer. I ended up paying about $130 and my computer didn't get fixed, and with the wrong screws. I took my computer to Rohnert Park Computer Repair. Josh fixed it in one hour, no part were needed and he only charged $50. Don't waste your time and money using DK Systems!!!!! read more

My daughters computer was having several issues so I brought it in without looking at it. I just wanted it done. I gave them $75 to start . They called and said it needed a keyboard, and the touch pad was broken. The price was outrageous but I was happy just to get this off my to do list. Well, they wouldn't start without an additional large payment. Now a 20 minute drive, the convenience factor is lost! Just picked it up. Well guess what? The mouse pad was merely turned off. F7 fixed that. And the keyboard, a very low priced part to order. So I did and it took 30 seconds to install. I don't mind paying for customer service but that was sleazy. read more

Just went into DK Systems this past week. My monitor's screen on my Dell dimension 8400 was blacking out repeatedly when power cycling it. Ryan at DK systems told me he thinks the issue could be the monitor but it needed to be tested and suggested I bring it in. Ryan just did a quick test, at no charge to see if screen is shot. Yes, it was a goner. DK had several used monitors for sale, Ryan told me a ball park price over the phone $50. I ended up purchasing a used Dell monitor for $65 and it works perfect. Ryan was so friendly and honest. I can usually tell if someone is trying to give you the run around to make a buck or if they are being genuinely straight up. Ryan was straight up. This is my second experience with DK and as long as they are in business I am a customer. Last year I had a virus and they honored a coupon, I received in my local mailer for diagnostic and removed the virus like they said they would. After I went home with my not infected computer they continued to have conversations with me for the next week over the phone about my little questions. GREAT HONEST SERVICE. To top it off I have a two and five year old who were very hyper when I took my Monitor in the on the cooped up rainy day. Ryan was very understanding and kind to my Mommy juggling act. Thank you. Took my PC in because MS during a update of windows 10 gave a watch dog virus, while it was in their shop they told me that my HDD was starting to fail, all though I had never had any issues with it. I brought in another HDD so they could clone to it, when I came to pick it up all I got was a wiped drive and they had the gall to charge me $110.00 for wiping my drive. Hell I could of done that for free and right at my own home. Beware of this rip-off joint! I went in there with my 80 year old mother to have the pin replaced on her laptop to which the charger is attached. My mother knows nothing about computers, but thank God I do a little. The guy at the desk said first he had to run a diagnostic, which would cost $75, and then the Labor to fix anything would cost $115 per hour with a one hour minimum. I asked him what do you need to run a diagnostics for? He said in case there's a hard drive failure or any other problem. I made it clear that there is no hard drive failure. The laptop simply won't take a charge. He said their protocol is to do the diagnostic regardless. My mom freaked out to hear the word hard drive failure and panicked. The guy smirked. Obviously their true protocol is to fear monger senior citizens. I told my mom not to worry, this guy is just a scam artist and the business just evil and greedy. We left with her laptop. I took it apart, fixed the pin following a DIY video on youtube. For free. Took me 15 minutes. Do not go here for any reason. You will be miserable and ripped off. I called to talk to them about our needs and they immediately set a time to come meet us and to review our computers and our needs at no charge. We have had to use them 3 times in a very short period of time, one of them for an emergency with one computer. Their response times are excellent. They took care of us the same day for the computer that was down. Their personnel is friendly, knowledgeable and very user friendly. On the last project they worked with our Tel-Com vendor to install some software and I was very impressed with how well things went. About ninety percent of the time, DK provided excellent service. They were super-helpful with in home networking, laptop troubleshooting, etc. My husband and I started working with them when they were small. I would give DK five stars..except that one time I brought in my new laptop to see if they could fix some software issues. The tech told me that my hard drive was trashed and wanted to replace my it for $350. I never found any errors on the hard drive, nor did HP. It would've been a lot cheaper for HP to replace the hard drive than the whole computer (which is what eventually happened). But hey, that was one time, and it could have been merely a "rush-job" sort of failure. read more

The guys there all seem nice and want to try and help you fix your problems more than when we used to use another local company who seemed scared to actually talk to us. I've recommended them to friends and haven't heard anything bad back so I think that's a good thing. They are open saturdays which is nice since I work mon-fri they stayed open a couple minutes late for me last time when I called and said I was stuck in traffic They did close their Petaluma store which is unfortunate. Took my computer into the shop to have some programs installed on my computer. A week later they called to tell me the computer was ready for pick-up. Went home & turned my computer on & found that the programs were installed but ALL my documents & pictures from my last 4 vacations were erased. Took the computer back the next day & asked why everything was erased. They had the computer for the next 4 days & called to tell me they could not recover the lost items. They said I should try DriveSavers in Novato. Sent my hard drive to them & a week & $400 they could retrieve very little of the lost files. They explained that they did not know what DK Systems did to loose the date. If you want your system & files erased DK Systems is the place to go. If you want your computer fixed I would go to another store for repairs. read more
