This time it was a laptop that we thought needed a new battery. Once again Phil ignored the chance to make a profit and told us what his concerns were about that. The battery cost more than $100 but we decided to try it anyway. He accepted our decision and ordered the battery. He installed it yesterday with some difficulty and cleaned the laptop thoroughly. Our charge was so reasonable that I would have tipped him $25 but, since Covid, I don't carry cash anymore. All I had in my wallet was $10 which I use for tipping handymen. So I left that, but it didn't begin to represent my feelings. And...the laptop is working well again. read more

Phil's a miracle worker. Important files disappeared from my desktop when I tried to connect them to an external hard drive, and I thought I'd lost them forever. This place is deserves every bit of acclaim it gets. I had planned to take my Macbook Air to the Santa Rosa Apple store after a spill rendered my keyboard and trackpad inoperative (out of warranty/not covered anyway). Based on some past experiences, I knew they would charge $700+ for repairs if they determined that they would have to send the laptop in. It goes without saying, I had second thoughts about whether to pour that into a 4 year old piece of tech. After some deliberation, I emailed Corehelp to see whether they thought this might be something they could fix. I had low expectations and figured at worst I'd be stuck using external keyboards for a while until I was ready to bid this computer farewell. Not so! Phil took my computer in for a diagnostic and was able to clean off whatever corrosion was causing my problems right then and there. Price? On the house. Outstanding. He also gave me an extremely reasonable parts & labor quote for a trackpad replacement in case the issues ever reoccur. Phil was able to extract my hard drive from an old defunct iMac and put it in new housing so that I did not lose my files and software. I didn't think it could be done! You will notice that ALL of Phil's ratings are 5 star...because he is the most patient, honest, and knowledgeable Mac guy you could ever call for help. He is responsive, accommodating your timeline as well as he can. Several years ago he worked on my old Mac desktop, bringing it up to speed with a new hard drive, and more recently he updated the hard drive on my MacBook Pro from 2015. Using logic (which I don't seem to possess), he guided me to determine what size hard drive made the most sense at this point, or whether it would be better to just get a new laptop (NOT). After replacing the hard drive, I couldn't find a particular file, so I went back and he carefully tracked down the "missing" file and double-checked that everything was as it should be before sending me on my way. The others before me nailed their reviews, but I'll add one more because Phil absolutely deserves it. My MacBook Pro's trackpad was acting erratically, like a demon possessed, and I feared water damage. The Genius I spoke with at the Santa Rosa Apple Store said he spotted early signs of corrosion on my board, but warned that I'd pay $1,200 to have it shipped to Apple for repairs. He recommended Phil, saying he was the best guy in town for both water damage and file recovery, and that I'd pay a fraction of the price. I had a great chat with Phil on the phone the day after Christmas, and brought my computer in right away. He said he was backed up with the holiday, but I still got a call from him within a handful of business hours. He said there was actually no trace of water damage, but that there was sand (!!) all around the trackpad's connectors. He cleaned the whole thing out, and refused to take any money for his time. I'm going to see how she runs for a few days, but if I need a new trackpad I will HAPPILY pay Phil to sort it out. What a great guy - an actual pleasure to interact with. For many months, I struggled with connectivity issue between my iPhone and Honda Car Play. Two trips to Honda Service Center concluded with Honda believing it was as operating system in compatibility issue. Recommended I purchase a new IPhone. I took my 2010 Macbook Pro to Core Help after it would not start up. It was showing a circle with a line through it or a folder with a question mark on it and no matter what instructions I got online I could not get it to start up. I thought it finally died for good. I took it to the Apple Store and the Genius Bar told me it was considered "obsolete" so they could not repair it. They suggested I take it to Core Help. Core Help got my laptop up and running like new in three days for $150. I will never visit the Genius Bar again. I love Core Help. I had a great experience here! I brought my 2012 MacBook Pro Laptop in because it crashed suddenly and I suspected the hard drive had died. He diagnosed it for free telling me he was able to access the hard drive which was great news! He suspected a cable needed replacing but told old me if he did he repair and it didn't work there would be no charge - which was so nice.
