Bodhi and his crew carried out a very finicky circuit-board level repair on a very complex aviation GPS no longer supported by its manufacturer. The work was carried out cheerfully and quickly, and after a first attempt failed (due partly to misunderstanding of my somewhat obscure instructions) it was repeated successfully and at no additional charge (and the initial charge was extremely reasonable). I'd have no hesitation in going back to MacDaddy for any computer-related work (hardware or software, and not just Macs--equal expertise for Windows and LINUX ). I thought my iPhone was dying and I took it into Mac Daddy to see if it might be fixable. After a few questions, it turns out I just hadn't downloaded a very big update and my phone was trying to download it when it was unplugged, so the battery was being drained. I was told to go home, plug in the phone and see if after the update - if it's still losing battery charge to bring it back. Et voila! Problem was solved. I came in with a 2019 MacBook Pro and received a quote for $300 to replace the battery. I wanted to repair rather than replace but also asked the owner for the trade in or resale value as I was also considering replacing with a cheaper but more capable Mac mini. The owner said "I have no clue" so i got the battery replaced. After getting my computer back I took a minute to google the resale value which told me in seconds $300 and calculated trade value directly from Apple was an offer of $260. I really wish the owner was more informed on the products he services or could do a quick google. I have been here twice for help with my MacBook Pro, and got a laptopbasic "spring cleaning" add on (no viruses, just a cleanup) for $80 the last time, but was really disappointed when I went in there recently to see if my laptop keyboard was on the blink. Bodhi could have let me test it out on one of his computer keyboards first, so I didn't have to buy a brand new one from him, but he refused when I asked. I also asked if I could get a partial refund about a week later, since the keyboard wasn't the problem, but no refunds for 'open boxes'. That's NOT why I'm giving the store a 2 star-rating, though. I'm appalled at how he treated a friend of mine about a month ago, an elder who is a writer in our Sebastopol community who simply needed his documents in one file, and a laptop cleaning. His operating system is Microsoft 8.1, which is aging out and not eligible for ANY updates after Jan. 10, 2023. All Bodhi had to do was tell him this, but no, he took $160 from my friend just to do his little 'clean-up'. My friend's laptop is a DELL Latitude E-6500, a dinosaur from 2012 that sells for $30 on Ebay, but he's on a fixed income and that's all he can afford. Bodhi completely ripped him off! He failed to inform my friend that it would be better for him to just buy another laptop, instead of wasting his money on a 'clean-up' for $160, when there was nothing, and I mean NOTHING truly wrong with his computer ! I had a major problem with my four year old MacBook Pro while on a work deadline when I found that it was not taking any charge at all and had died. I called and spoke with Bodhi who was very helpful and patient on the phone - and somehow managed to calm me down. I brought it right in, although I wasn't hopeful. He took a look at it and promised that the tech would see what's what the next morning when he came in. By the next afternoon they had cleaned it up completely and somehow managed to get it charging again so that we could transfer everything. Whew! Disaster averted. I thought for the amount of rush work that they did that the cost of the repair was very fair. I am so happy to have such a great resource in my town.
