(PICS INCLUDED)…read more TLDR: he took my solid state drive and won't give it back. ghosting my texts and calls since May 14th, 2024 in beginning of May 2024, i contacted (i believe his name is Charles, older fellow, i believe uses a cane) Main Street Computers to save my solid state drive that was recently damaged. Promised he was the best in the area on this service, even gloated it's his specialty. Told me to drive to his house in Sebastopol/Graton and drop the solid state off. Interaction was a little weird (social skills and ques wise) but he was confident and promised me he would be done within the week. I also gave him an external hard drive to use in case he needed more space for the recovery. Calls me two days later and says he's done. I got to his house, invited me in, and inside he handed me the invoice; however, as i was about to sign. i realized he didn't recover the files on my computer, but the 3 videos saved on the external hard drive and just slapped them into the computer... -_- I told him and he was not happy. i then realized - inside his kitchen and dining area - he had a set up of 3 cameras all around the space. one at the end of the dining area, one in the kitchen, one at the end of the living space (kind of down the hall). he exclaimed, "F*ck, Dammit", then promised me he'd do it right this time within the next couple days. the next day he calls me to return with my laptop as the solid state was encrypted. i arrived at 9:17 pm. i knocked on the door a couple times, heard some arguing upstairs so i waited on the porch. I then called him and then he said he'd come downstairs. i then hear some running, a couple second go by, and then i heard him coming down the stairs inside. He takes a brisk look at me, he looked a bit confused. out of it. he then takes 2 steps towards me and FALLS AGAINST THE WALL!!! I then thought he could've been drunk or on some something(?) I thought maybe i should go inside and pick him up, but i felt a weird energy and felt very skeptical, so i yelled through the door if he was okay. he just laid there. i then noticed the cameras outside on the porch too. this whole thing felt so on purpose. flight or flight came on so i ran back to my car. i looked behind me as i drove away and noticed a different man had ran outside, standing and watching me drive away, right where i stood. i drove to a lit gas station, gathered myself, and texted him if he was okay. he said "yes just hurt like hell." i couldn't shake off the thought that this was an attempted kidnapping or robbery. felt very much like a set up. to this day, he won't respond to any calls or texts. he also still has my solid state drive... thinking of getting the police involved. honestly i'm DEVASTED. I had just spent a considerable amount of money on high-end PC parts for a new build. I assembled…read morethe computer, but ran into issues installing and updating the operating system. It was clearly a hardware problem that I could not figure out. I double and triple checked my work, checked the seating of all the components, and was at a loss to figure out what the problem was. I have experience building PCs, so making the decision to drop it off at a shop was unthinkable. However, after talking to Darin over the phone, he assured me he could troubleshoot my assembly and if necessary isolate any faulty components on the bench in time for me to RMA them. I dropped my computer off shortly before they closed for the Labor Day weekend, and had a very pleasant conversation with Darin and Jesse. They are two sharp guys who genuinely care about providing a superior level of customer service as well as some creative and valuable learning opportunities about computers for local kids. Chris gave me a call a few days later and let me know that after confirming that my assembly was done correctly and all the parts were functioning properly, the problem came down to a year old BIOS version on my brand new motherboard, something that had never occurred to me to check. They were able to flash it then get Win 11 installed and fully updated. They performed stress and thermal tests on all my parts and Darin personally insisted on carrying my box to my car when I came to pick it up. As a parting gift, he gave me what was probably the deepest dive into case fan configuration and airflow that I'd ever had with a sane human being. So far it's running great, and the cost was quite a bit less than I'd expected to have to pay. This isn't exactly the sort of service I have any desire to need an a regular basis, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to give these guys a call. I would recommend them to anybody who was in need of any of the services they perform. It's really easy to support a good group of people doing good work.

He handed me back my computer and REFUSED to finish the work I had already paid for. then he followed me to my car, and then stood behind my car and leaned against it, blocking me from leaving!
