I emailed Scott after one my very old external hard drives suddenly stopped communicating with my laptop. He responded within hours, and the next day, I delivered the drive to him to see if the data could be rescued from it. Although the situation seemed dire at first, he was actually able to access the data normally and offered to transfer it to a flash drive for a nominal fee. I requested a quote online to fix my fan and he responded fast. I took it in and turned on my laptop so he could hear the fan noise. Originally my laptop booted up as usual (if it hadn't, I would have noticed because I was right there, and he would have noticed too and should have mentioned it before doing any repairs). He orders the fan and fixes it except somehow messes up the hard drive and asks to fix it,which would obviously cost me more. I insisted to fix the fan only because I know my laptop didn't have any issues with the hard drive. Now my laptop won't boot and he is denying that it did when I brought it in. Im livid because it will cost me a lot to buy a new laptop UPDATE: I have just now seen the response and I must say this. I may not be a computer wiz but I know a few things and I know that while fixing the fan, you should not have tampered with the hard drive AT ALL! Here's the proof! I found Scott on Yelp after a week that sounds like the one the previous reviewer had (I got in a hit & run accident - my car was totaled, and then the next day dropped my laptop and it broke). Best Buy told me it would cost about $400 to ship my laptop out to be looked at and opened up... with no guarantee that it would be even fixed. My tiny little off-brand laptop is barely worth that much! So when Scott returned my email saying he'd be willing to help, I took my baby to him. His fees were extremely reasonable, and he did what most others would not do: opened up a laptop, found shattered parts, ordered the new part needed, and took a soldering iron to it. Many computer techs just won't do it - too risky. But he's a pro. Here I am, two weeks later, with a laptop that works like new. With all of my beloved files intact (Ill be backing those up soon!) In addition, Scott is friendly and easy to talk to. Very professional to do business with, but also down to earth and not intimidating. Scott is a very honest, and forthright independent computer repair man. I found him here on yelp, and contacted him, and left a message regarding a hardware problem I was facing on my cheap little HP notebook. Scott was prompt to get back to me. Unfortunately for me, I had let Scott know what I thought was the problem (a loose charging port) Scott said okay... give me the model number of the notebook, and I had to call him back with it. We played phone tag a bit, and he was always very prompt to get back to me. He researched to see if the procedure was even possible to replace the charging port on my computer, and if the part was available. Dealing with Scott was very easy. I never did have to bring my computer to him, as I misdiagnosed my own computer. And had Scott order the wrong part. I am still going to keep the part on hand in case it ever does go bad. I emailed Scott because my netbook wasn't getting power. He emailed me back right away to ask me questions so he could better understand my situation. Once I gave the details, he emailed back to say that this seemed like a fairly common problem with my brand of netbook and that it was too small for him to be able to open up and work on; also, that a new motherboard would be hard to find and expensive... the repairs, if possible, would cost more than a new computer. Scott did an excellent job repairing my notebook computer after I couldn't start Windows due to a failed hard disk. He backed up my data to my external hard disk so I didn't lose any of it, at least none that I'm aware of. I was very worried because my wife and I depend so much on the computer. I carelessly didn't perform backups for the last several weeks before the HD failure. Scott then ordered a new hard disk for me that so far has performed very well. He copied my data from my external HD to the new internal HD. He reinstalled Windows. Most of my file system and data were organized the way it was before, but I only spent a few hours reorganizing the rest. He recommended a superb backup program that I'm using on a trial basis, and that I plan to purchase. He answered my questions after the repair was completed. My system works as well or better than it did before the hard disk failure. Much to my relief, the entire recovery operation, with my time included, took within a week. The one area in which Scott's service was less than exemplary was in the documentation and notification he provided. For example, details about scheduled shipping and delivery times for the HD weren't given when I needed them. I wasn't given a copy of the invoice for the new HD, since Scott purchased it and resold it to me. However, Scott more than made up for these oversights with the warranty he offered on the new HD. Scott is expert with computer technology, and very helpful and friendly. His sidekick / assistant Pauline was also helpful and friendly. In any kind of technical crisis, I wouldn't want anyone other than Scott on my side. He had my wife and me covered in a big way. I'll seek his help again with a complicated computer project. He sided with my ex wife and instead of following the court order presented to him he decides to take the law into his own hands and doesn't give me back my laptop for 3 months, he was supposed to delete some files off my computer by decree of the courts and then Return my laptop back to me. So I have a laptop that takes longer than it used to, to boot up, the internal speakers no longer work and I have to use an external CD drive as the internal one died on me. My main concern was speeding it up, I am not a techie but do know that there can be many reasons why your PC/Laptop can slow down. I read the reviews on Scott and figured I would reach out to him for his recommendation. His website has a lot of info, I found it a bit busy but ok. I found a page to fill out to have him contact me, I did appreciate that one of the contact options is via text, pretty cool. I provided a description of my issues and awaited his contact. The next day I received a text that basically said, his recommendation was that I buy a new laptop, he provided a link to his website with instruction to read an article and that he could make a recommendation as to buying a new laptop. His text was polite and professional but I was a bit put off by it. We texted back and forth a few times and turns out the link he sent is to his policy on "out of life cycle" basically he is stating that if your computer is 4 years old or older he does not want to work on it, for varies reasons. I get it, it is easier to work on newer computers as they would have less issues but come on' my laptop is no dinosaur and he does have a link on his website about "system tune ups" and how in many cases a tune up is all you need instead of buying a new computer. My expectation was that he would have at least wanted to physically looked at my laptop prior to kicking me to the curb. It is his business and he can run it anyway he wants and our texts were polite and professional. I just have an issue with advertising about system tune-ups with no strong mention of his policy against working on 4 year and older computers and for the record my laptop is 3.5 yrs old. Anyway if you have computer issues Scott may be your guy, BUT not if you have an older one. read more

My trusty desktop computer crashed about a week ago...At the time I thought my life was over, and there was no way to get over this tragedy. (of course you have to consider that my car was sideswiped the same day, so my emotions were at a bit of a low) I found Scott on Yelp and called and emailed him on a sunday morning to see what he could offer in the way of a "second coming" for my trusty computer.
