We ordered using the kiosk inside. I tried the Mung Bean Latte. The drink was on the pricier side ($6.50 for a 16 oz iced drink + $0.85 for boba). My drink was a little grainy for my preference, but I can look past it considering that it had real blended mung bean and fresh pandan leaves. The boba pearls were soft and chewy. Overall, the drink was okay...but considering the price and portion size, District Tea would not be my first pick for boba. Ordered the picnic pack for two and I have to say it is so worth! I got the katsu sando, the katsu musubi, potato croquette! For drinks, ordered the taro latte with boba and jasmine milk tea with boba. We ordered ahead and picked up just on time. Both the katsu sando and katsu musubi were delicious! They provided a little container of katsu sauce and I wish they gave two because it was that good. The potato croquette had to be my favorite though, it was perfectly soft and creamy on the inside and crispy on the outside! Parking gets tight in the Mission, but I found ample spots on South Van Ness. As for the shop it was very busy and a little backed up, but given the high quality of food & drink the kitchen puts out its easy to overlook that possible issue. During the visit I was also able to enjoy a Watermelon Coconut Drink, and a Katsu Sando both of which were great. Tried this place for first time on 12.29.2022. I ordered a popcorn chicken and a small Assam black milk tea with boba . The order was placed through DoorDash. The first thing I want to mention is that almost all the drinks my coworkers and I ordered leaked in the bag. Secondly, the person who prepared the order did not provide any skewers or utensils to eat the popcorn chicken with. I also want to point out that the straws and cups are such cheap quality. My straw broke at the bottom when I tried to insert it into the cup. The top part of the straw broke after I took a few sips. The straw cracks so easily. There was also way too much ice in my drink. The actual flavor of the drink was good. There's a nice tea aroma and flavor. I did like how the drink wasn't too sweet. (You can pick the level of sweetness you want when you place an order). I was disappointed when I saw that they don't offer black sugar milk tea. The actual tapioca pearls were pretty decent, but they didn't have a whole lot of chew to it. I like my boba chewy. They didn't have a lot of brown sugar or honey taste either. The popcorn chicken was good. I just wish they actually applied the seasoning more evenly. The drinks here are great! It is a bit more expensive but you do get what you're paying for. They're higher quality and made with better ingredients. It's reflected in the taste of the drinks. My fav is the Castro which is peach and lychee. It's a good pairing and very refreshing. It can be a bit sweet so make sure to ask to lower the sweetness if you don't like your dicks too sweet. 4.5 stars**** Came yesterday for the last weekend of SF Restaurant Week. Of all the listed restaurants, District Tea seemed to have the best lunch deals. For $15, you get a choice of a sando sandwich and a small beverage with a topping of your choice (which usually cost $.75 more). My husband and I both ordered a katsu sando. He got the mung bean latte with boba, while I got the iced grass jelly with boba. We both upgraded our drinks to a large size for $.75 more. When we arrived, the place is quite emptied. There are no seats so it is literally a small shop you order food to go. The iPad machine they used for self-serve does not work. After we placed our orders, the worker said she has to cancel it because the pricing of the deal is wrong on the iPad. It shows SF Restaurant Week with two deals for $25 instead of the $15 deal for one person. It would have been nice if she said something in the beginning and put up a sign that the machine is not working since she is well aware of it, instead of wasting our time. Due to that, we needed to add more money in the meter because we wasted time placing the orders on the first iPad and then re-ordering the food (by the way, on Saturday, meter is $9/hr in SF Mission... so crazy). Food and drinks take about 15-20 minutes. The katsu sando is delicious! Very saucy too! This is the third sando place I tried in SF in the past six months. My favorite is still Katsu-ya but I like the katsu sando here better than at Stonemill, which tasted more dry (in my opinion). The drinks are surprisingly very good too! The mung bean latte does remind me of Seven Leaves, and the iced grass jelly drink tasted like the bottom of an iced shaved Asian dessert with grass jelly that melted and then got mixed with condensed milk. The honey boba is on point too, soft but not over-cooked, and chewy on the inside with the right amount of sweetness. Their drinks remind me of Boba Guys. Luckily, they are not overwhelmingly sweet. The one thing we are not a fan of is their spicy popcorn chicken. We ordered it because we saw pictures on Yelp that they used basil leaves. Instead, it is just plain popcorn chicken. Flavorful but not very crispy. Quickly does a better job at it especially since District Tea charges $8 for popcorn chicken. I also love the Castro drink (I'm obviously in love with the lychee lol) their drinks aren't too sweet and you can barely taste the syrups as they make it with puree! District Tea did not disappoint! Wandered in on a balmy Friday afternoon for the mission. After looking over the menu, I ended with the the iced grass jelly which was milk sweetened with condensed milk and topped with generous swaths of grass jelly. Grass jelly, my friends, is a truly underrated drink topping. It's smooth and silky yet very refreshing and it absolutely hit the spot on this afternoon. As for the milk, the condensed milk really added a lot of creaminess to the drink in addition to a fair amount of sweetness (opted 30% sweet). The end result is probably comparable to frosted flakes cereal milk, which, if I may add, is one of the most superb cereal milks. At $6 with tip, District Tea is right on par with it's competitors. I saw this stand at the sunset night market and was intrigued by the mung bean boba. The sugar level isn't customizable but the drink isn't too sweet. It also wasn't too heavy. However, the pearls were not great--maybe it's because this was a pop stand, but the pearls were hard and not chewy at all. This being said though, I'd definitely still give district tea another try. I decided to try their mung bean latte (caffeine free) since I really love 7 leaves mung bean milk tea and I don't have a high tolerance for caffeine. The price for everything but particularly for the Katsu Sando was not worth it at $15 for how mediocre, dry, and small it was. Do not recommend it. Other than that, the Musubi was also mediocre with no rice seasoning. Eating it made me feel sad. As for the drinks, the two green thai teas (one 30% sweet with boba and one 75% sweet with salted cream) tasted like overbrewed (bitter) but weak low quality green tea bags. The boba had the right texture but was just flavorless and sad. The tea was so bitter that it had an astringent effect on the inside of my mouth. Basically sandpaper. The sweetness level and toppings did not change this and ended up having to throw it out. The service was subpar. While we understood that there was a big order around the same time as ours, we were told to wait, but it turned out that our food had been ready and was sitting on the counter getting cold. That being said, I don't think that the food being hot would have improved the quality. The tea was particularly depressing. As for the layout, it was cute but really not great to actually have the flow of customers moving at all. Other customers did not seem to care about making space to pick up the order. Don't expect matcha type of grassy green tea, this is more of a cleaner, floral green tea. Ordered 30% sweet but almost wished it was sweeter, like 50% (only options are 0, 30, 75, 100).
