First visit since pandemic. I visited the shop many times during pandemic. It small boba shop at mission. It was nice shop. I remember the first time I came during pandemic, they only took order and served the drink via the small front window. Beside boba milk tea, they also have fruit tea, small bites. They even have half gallon size. The drink is customizable like sweetness, ice level, milk option , size and milk choice. I was around Clarion Alley at the other side and remember this shop at the other side and I stopped by to get my favorite mangonada drink with crystal boba. I was nice to have the mangonada again. If you are at mission area , you should give it a try.

LOVE this place! We visited from San Diego and this was recommended by my local friends. It's hard to find a boba place that also has non caffeine options for the kiddos (or preggo mamas) and the mango drink we ordered wasnt too sweet for my toddler and she truly did not want to share . Their food/snack options are excellent- we got chicken karage and the egg salad sando and both were delicious. Recommend getting these! The bread on the egg salad was super soft! The menu options have something for everyone without being overwhelming, without being overpriced, and not overly sweet. We will be back for sure

Tried the new sweet potato croquette and it's sooo good! Love the packaging too, it keeps the fried food nice and crispy instead of getting soggy. Definitely ordering this again! Already a returning customer, and I love that they're always adding new items to the menu.

I decided to try the Pacific Heights: seasonal pineapple and lime fruit tea, uses jasmine tea. I set it to easy (30) sweet, easy ice, and I opted for a straw which is compostable. At the time, it would have costed $0.85 more if wanted to upgrade to large. You can order with a kiosk in the store, and it was made within 3 minutes. The drink was pretty good, refreshing, fruity, without being too sweet. I did feel it was a little on the small side relative to price though.

Thought they had really interesting no flavor options, but maybe I ordered wrong. We asked for half sweet and instead of telling us they couldn't they made our drinks 30% sweet. The fruit in the tea was very subtle because of this, but the mungbean tea was nice and nutty just kind of thick and grainy.

Cute little tea place that's a short walk from Dolores Park! They have a wide variety of drinks and offerings beyond just the generic teas and milk teas, including their popular Hong Kong Milk Tea and Mung Bean Latte. I'm a huge fan of grass jelly, so their Ice Grass Jelly drink with condensed milk is a sweet treat that evokes nostalgia for my Taiwanese taste buds. Their small bites are also great, with a variety of Chinese/Taiwanese, Japanese, and Korean offerings, including popcorn chicken, takoyaki, katsu sando, and Korean corn dog. They even offer a picnic pack for 2 for $32.50, so if you want to go for a picnic (like a nice date, or even go with a friend), that's a nice option. It's a tiny place, so there's no seating in here. But it seems to be a popular choice to pick up something here if you're going to hang out in the area, especially at Dolores Park.

We were looking for boba shops in the are and decided to give District Tea a try. Parking is difficult to find, it's a very busy area. Luckily, I was with my siblings and they went to order the drinks while I waited in the car. I got the Hong Kong Milk Tea and thought that it was quite average. It tasted a little water down as well. My siblings also thought that their drinks were just okay. We probably won't be coming back since the drinks were just okay, but the snacks do look tasty.

Tried their Popcorn Chicken and Mixed Onigiri (Salmon and Tuna Onigiri recently)! I got their food to-go as there is no seating, and I was given salt and pepper & the spicy chili pepper on the side. The chicken was not as crispy as I liked but I enjoyed the flavoring with the salt and pepper! The salmon and tuna in the onigiri was fresh, and it was quite easy to open without any sticky mess. I can't comment on their drinks, but I have to Hojicha Milk Tea in the future! The place was a bit hard to find. Great diversity in the typical Asian snacks of popcorn chicken and takoyaki along with a good selection of boba!

District Tea is a hidden gem in the heart of the Mission. It has a relaxed ambience, tons of drink options and truly unique offerings you don't see everywhere--like a sweet potato latte (!)--so there's really something for everyone. It was my first visit and I wasn't sure what to order, but the staff was super friendly and welcoming. They recommended the Hong Kong milk tea, which was smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced. I also got the popcorn chicken and spam musubi, and everything was delicious. Grabbed everything to go and enjoyed it at Dolores Park--such a perfect Mission combo. Already feels like a new local go-to, and I'll definitely be back to try more!

    Katsu Sando

I had an amazing time at District Tea. From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with hospitality and quick service. I wasn't sure what I should order from their menu because they have a variety of options so I asked for a recommendation. The katsu sando and the mung bean latte were recommended to me so I ordered those two. The katsu sando was the perfect size for a quick bite and was crispy and juicy with just the right amount of filling inside. Some places stuff their katsu sando so much that the filling falls out and makes it messy to eat but this had the perfect amount for me. The mung bean latte was not too sweet and tasted amazing, like I was eating a mung bean ice cream! You could tell they used real mung beans to make the latte and not any powder or syrups. As a heads up for people visiting for the first time, there isn't a sit-down area with chairs inside but it's very clean and spacious, especially for those who would like to stand inside to wait for their drinks and food instead of waiting outside on the street in the sun. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area. There's not much free street parking but if you're nearby Dolores Park or on Valencia Street, it's definitely worth the walk to get a snack and drink from here!

    Janny W.

I've been ordering their popcorn chicken for a few years now, and it's consistently solid. Always crispy, flavorful, and satisfying. I really appreciate that they include both regular and spicy pepper on the side, perfect for customizing your heat level. (I prefer spicy) Also, don't sleep on the Katsu Sando! It's definitely on the pricier side, but the taste makes it worth the splurge. Highly recommend!

Just had their egg salad sando and it's so yummy, can't wait to come back and try other things! Plus the staff is super friendly :)

This Boba spot has been on my list for sometime so when my friends came into the city we came here for some Boba and snacks. The popcorn chicken was on point, nice and hot. We ordered the iced Grass jelly, hot sweet potato latte, and hot Hojicha tea crema. The ice grass jelly was pretty tasty although quite sweet even with low sugar we were impressed with the sweet potato latte. It was really good, slightly sweet but not overpowering. Even though I did not get the Hojicha with milk, the salted caramel cream was strong enough to taste like milk tea. The service was quick. The place was to go only, no table nothing. It was cold outside, so we actually ate by the counter. I think it would be nice to have some standing tables available. Everything was great, but for almost 7 dollars a drink for a tiny cup was not worth it. We strongly feel like the drinks with that price should be automatically the large.

Food: The yuzu salmon onigiri had a decent serving of salmon inside and on top of the rice. Good salmon flavor but slightly lacking in yuzu flavor. Chicken Curry onigiri: a mild curry flavor which again had a decent rice to chicken ratio. The chicken did taste slightly dry despite the curry sauce likely due to the nature of being a ground meat. Matcha Latte c Pistachio Cream was easily one of the best tasting matcha drinks I have had in SF. The matcha had a strong flavor and the pistachio cream did not overpower the taste of the matcha. There was a nice sweet, slightly salty, and pistachio flavor from the cream and the addition of the crushed pistachios was not a weird texture for the drink. I would definitely be interested in trying more of their matcha beverages due to quality and size of drink compared to cost.

If you're looking for an authentic Japanese izakaya experience, Rintaro is definitely worth checking out. I've been to Japan before, and actually felt like the food we ate was just as good as what you would get in Japan, but more expensive, haha. I also love that their menu focuses on traditional Japanese izakaya dishes rather than just sushi. Everything is meant to be shared, making it a fun dining experience where you can try a little bit of everything. FOOD: 9/10 SERVICE: 9/10 AMBIANCE: 10/10 FOOD: 9/10 The food really showcases the craftsmanship that goes into Japanese cooking. From the handmade udon to the charcoal-grilled skewers that we ordered, every dish felt thoughtfully prepared. I especially appreciated that nothing felt overly complicated. The flavors were simple, balanced, and let the quality of the ingredients shine. The only reason I'm giving it a 9 instead of a perfect 10 is that a few dishes didn't completely wow me for the price, but overall it was a fantastic meal. SERVICE: 9/10 The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and happy to answer questions or offer recommendations. The restaurant gets busy, but service still felt attentive throughout the meal without making us feel rushed. They do recommend ordering everything at once, as they do run out of things due to the high volume of customers. AMBIANCE: 10/10 The first thing that stood out to me was the ambiance. From the moment you walk in, the warm wood interior, open kitchen, and charcoal grill make you feel like you've stepped into Japan. It has such a cozy and intimate atmosphere that's perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Rintaro is definitely more of a special occasion spot than an everyday dinner. The quality is there, but because the menu is made up of small plates, the bill can add up pretty quickly. That said, I think it's worth experiencing at least once if you're looking for an authentic izakaya in San Francisco. Overall, I'd definitely come back. The atmosphere alone makes it memorable, and I love that Rintaro focuses on traditional Japanese comfort food instead of being another sushi restaurant. It's the kind of place where you come for the entire experience, not just the meal.

The omakase experience balances traditional sushi with more creative touches. Each course brings something different, from fresh sashimi and nigiri to warmer dishes like chawan mushi that add depth to the progression of the meal. The sushi highlights the quality of the fish while incorporating thoughtful flavor combinations, with dishes like scallop and the dry-aged fish courses standing out for their texture and seasoning. The sake pairing fits naturally into the experience, adding another layer without overpowering the food, and the sommelier's selections complement the progression of flavors across the meal. What makes Kusakabe memorable is the craftsmanship and pacing of the meal. The chefs take time to explain each course, making the experience feel personal rather than rushed. Sitting at the counter adds to the atmosphere because you get to see the precision and care that goes into every piece, from the way the rice is formed to the final brush of sauce on the fish. The pacing of the meal allows you to appreciate each course without feeling rushed, and the team's attention to detail creates a rhythm that keeps the meal engaging from start to finish. Kusakabe feels like a place made for special occasions, celebrations, or anyone looking for a more elevated Japanese dining experience. It combines technique, hospitality, and creativity in a way that makes the entire meal feel like an event rather than just a dinner. The balance of traditional and modern elements, along with the warmth of the service, leaves you with the sense of having experienced something complete and thoughtfully composed.

What an experience! We were celebrating an anniversary and planned a bit last minute, but were able…read moreto snag a reservation here pretty easily. Immediately, the ambiance and service was quite nice. We were seated at the table, but typically I enjoy sitting at the bar to watch the chefs make our food. The service was amazing and they were very attentive. They also offered to take photos and gave us a little gift of hojicha tea since we were celebrating. We got the omakase, which was massive and had 18 courses. They gave us a menu so we knew what to expect for each course, and we ordered some sake. The omakase was delicious and more traditional than other places, each course was so beautiful and delicately made. This is definitely a lot of food, I would recommend the petite omakase in the future as I was stuffed, but it was a great experience if you come hungry! Courses: - Chawan-mushi - super tasty and every bite was delicious and umami forward! - Otsumami - 7 seasonal appetizers presented in a beautiful box, there was a stuffed crab claw in there that was delicious - 4 kinds of sushi - each piece came out one at a time, the first piece was my absolute favorite and blew me away, it was a seared chutoro that immediately melts in your mouth and tastes smokey - Hamachi soup - very tasty and warming soup with hamachi inside, was perfect in between the sushi course - 4 kinds of sushi - A5 Waguyu shabu - this course was extra $10 pp but was so delicious, the wagyu was melt in your mouth and had some grated daikon on top in a ponzu dashi, the toppings help balance the meat so it's overwhelming since it does melt in your mouth, one of my favorite bites! - 4 kind of sushi - they brought out some really great sushis, including more chutoro and an unagi handroll, but I was so stuffed at this point that I felt I couldn't enjoy it as much - miso soup - this soup was so tasty and kind of revived me after all that food, it felt comforting and a great way to end - dessert- I got the hojicha ice cream in a waffle like cookie and it was delicious!
