    Chicken bowl with mixed greens
    Yan W.

3.5 stars. So what's the deal? Sadly, it's a far cry from the old days of district Tacos food truck where the flavors were lively and vibrant. Sadly, perhaps due to the pandemic, you order through a tablet and can't add your own fixins anymore. Also there's a limit of 5... I'm a big proponent of mixing all the salsa together so I found it limiting. Honestly. The food itself is a 2 star even based on other locations. I got the bowl for the first time with chicken and it barely had any flavor at all. Which is sad. So how did it garner a 3.5 star review? The staff! Never in my life have I felt so welcomed. I literally felt culinary love.... I know it's strange but when k set foot in the restaurant., coming in from the cold, I felt welcomed. No one rushed me to order (I was waiting for a friend) and even if I didn't, I'm pretty sure the staff would not have said anything. There were cute families just hanging out, with kids running around happy. When I left with leftovers, the staff made sure I was happy. They asked if I wanted a bag, more utensils, anything. They waved goodbye and were super sweet. It's rare that I say this but I would come back even if the food was mediocre just to feel like a part of the neighborhood!

Crummy fish taco with fish crumbles
    Marcus D.

Well, I think they jumped the shark. Used to really like this place. Ordered fish tacos and,...."where's the fish?" It was crumbles that I guess was fish. The guacamole was good but the taco chips were stale. I was disappointed from the start since: (1) there's not someone upfront to take your order so you need to use one of the Kiosks, (2) the food didn't match what I asked for through the kiosk, (3) the veggies didn't taste like they were fresh, (4) no salsa bar so you need to ask for more salsa and they give you tiny containers and I didn't think the varieties of the salsas are the same as what they had in the past. Very disappointing. Not coming back.

    2 Burrito Mojados with Guacamole
    Rajan J.

I have frequented District Taco on numerous occurrences and always tend to try something new on the menu. The burrito bowl is the item I frequent the most since it is an appropriate portion size and does not make me feel too full. The nachos are also strongly recommended. However, after trying to Burrito Mojado, I think I found my special niche. A fully stuff burrito with fillings of your choice, topped with sour cream, chipotle sauce, guacamole, and pico de gallo could not be beat. A great options for vegetarians, especially due to the amount of guacamole they provide on those options. There are many locations across Virginia / DC / Philadelphia, so I would recommend finding the nearest one to you!

There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.

Bathrooms are upstairs; they were clean and well appointed. Service was great, everything came out paced well to get us to show on time. Food: Delicious! I ordered the shrimp fajitas while my husband got the carnitas fajitas. His portion was generous, but mine only came with five shrimp, which felt pretty underwhelming for nearly $30. On the positive side, the rice and beans were flavorful, and the complimentary chips and salsa were enjoyable. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. Our server, Sam, was extremely slow and inattentive. We had to flag him down multiple times just to get basic things like refills on iced tea or boxes for our leftovers. It felt like we would have been completely overlooked if we hadn't actively tried to get his attention. Even when he did assist us, the service was lacking. For example, he didn't bring enough to-go boxes, and we ended up waiting until a food runner noticed us and stepped in. When I asked for salsa to go, he brought an empty container. We also sat waiting for quite a while to pay our check until a manager (we assume) finally came by to process it. It wasn't just us--the table nearby also had issues. A guest repeatedly asked Sam for a clean glass after receiving a dirty one, but he never brought it, and he also got her drink order wrong. Overall, while the food was good, the service experience really detracted from the evening. Will we be back? Probably not. Ometeo is worth trying once but just don't get Sam as your server!

We had no reservation, but had no wait and we were seated immediately. The restaurant has two sections, the main dining area, which is busy and full of families, and the bar area with high-top tables that feels a little quieter. We chose the bar side and it was perfect for a more relaxed, date-vibe. They also have a ton of holiday decor up and all the Christmas decorations made the whole place feel warm and festive too! Our waiter, Francisco, was amazinggggg! He checked on us at the right times without being overbearing, gave helpful suggestions, kept our drinks filled, and was genuinely friendly throughout our time at Guapo's! Service like that really makes a difference and definitely makes us want to return. We both ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and they were so good. The meat was tender and flavorful, the vegetables were cooked perfectly, and the portion sizes were huge. We both ended up taking leftovers home and had an even better lunch the next day. I have to mention the tortillas because they were honestly incredible. They were thick, warm, buttery, and pillowy in a way you don't usually get! I could honestly eat them by themselves. I also ordered a virgin passion fruit mojito and it was refreshing and just sweet enough without being too much. For two entrées, drinks, and queso, our total was $76, which is very reasonable for the area considering how much food we got and how good everything was. Overall, we left really happy and definitely plan to come back. Great service, great food, and a surprisingly cozy atmosphere for a casual night out.
