Tacos el Torito is a food truck that offers a variety of tacos (barbacoa, al pastor, chorizo, buche, tripa, lengua, cabeza, carne asada, and pollo), quesadillas, sopas (pollo, res, and mondongo), tortas, chuchitos, tamales, burritos, pollo guisados, and drinks. The hubs and I stopped by to check them out, as we saw them while driving back home! We ordered their Carne Asada tacos (super delicious! The meats were well-seasoned and juicy), Al Pastor tacos (made with pineapples, I just wished there were some chunks of pineapples within; this was a little forgettable, but I did like the sauteed onions), Chorizo tacos (one of the best chorizo tacos I've had, the crumbled sausage had a great taste to it with the perfect amount of kick), Carne Asada Burrito (monstrous in size, this was filled to the max with rice, cheese, and tons of carne asada). I loved how the tortillas for the tacos were actually fried with the oil and the juices, making them crispy and delicious (just make sure you request this type of preparation)! All items come with a salsa verde on the side, but I highly recommend using one of their bottled sauces, the Picamas Salsa Brava - nice thick hot sauce for the tacos! We also tried their horchata, which was slightly sweeter, but nice and creamy. The staff here were super friendly, and there were patrons chowing down at their counter as well as around the truck under the shade. I am a regular at this taco truck and I have spent so much money there since moving to the area a few years ago. I usually go once a week. They are always friendly and consistent. The tacos are AMAZING!!! I am particularly fond of the chorizo and barbacoa, but I overhear a lot of people ordering lengua, so that may be worth trying if that's your thing. They have a huge menu so if you're craving something different, you'll definitely have options: quesadillas, tortas, pupusas, soup, etc. Note that they are located at N Pershing Dr and N Piedmont. They are there seven days a week, usually starting around 6-6:30 pm and I'm not sure when they close (maybe 9-10pm?). Good, tasty, flavorful and quick! When you're in the mood for good, quick food that isn't considered fast food, give this taco food truck a try. First time I've visited, though have worked in the area for 6 years and never gave them a thought. A co-worker recently tried them and highly recommended a visit. Tacos are inexpensive and menu is mostly in Spanish, so I had to ask and somewhat guess. I had two pork tacos and one pork and pineapple. They have six other types. But the soup on their menu looked like the best. I plan to try it one of these days. Three delicious tacos, great sauce and flavor, and a can of soda for less than $10, can't beat it. The others on the menu are authentic with tongue and beef tripe. - Corn tortillas were delicious - Priced right at $2.50 a piece (small enough to have 3 or more) - Topping's were onions, cilantro and a slurry of green salsa - Greasy but the right kind of wet - Easy to find off Route 29 before you get to Gallows Road (heading East) in Front of Shell (next to post office) - plenty of parking in PO Cons: - Bring extra napkins - A bit more greasy than they should be (napkins were orange when I finished) - Meat was dry and over cooked I will try again but not rushing out anytime soon. I work in Mosaic drive by the truck all the time. Saw a few good reviews on here and decided to give it a shot to see if it lives up to the hype. It went beyond my expectations! Definitely the best authentic tacos I've ever had! I had the barbacoa tacos and the meat was perfectly flavored. It was soft, but not soggy and very juicy. Tacos were topped off with cilantro and diced onions (all you need in my opinion) and accompanied with limes and delicious salsa verde. 2 tacos and a drink ran me about $6, a bargain for the quality of the food you're getting. I had a meeting at the Merrifield Post office and left around 4 and thought i'd grab a bite at the Taco Truck. I honestly wasn't expecting much, it's a truck, right? But I got 2 taco's and a coke for $6.00 and they were simply amazing. Fabulous taco's, ended up eating them before i got out of the parking lot. Lot of delicious, seasoned meat, onions, cilantro and 2 tortillas with each one. Add in the sauce, and a few slices of just sliced cucumber. I told my daughter and a few friends already about it. And i'll go back. I'm in Manassas, so it's a bit of a pain, but i'll find excuses to head back again. This place is right in front of the Shell gas station on rt 29 in Merrifield and MAN is it WONDERFUL!! I sometimes visit 3x week. I have tried the tamales, quesadillas, the brain taco, the tongue taco and the pork taco. ALL delicious!! The prices are cheap. The menu is in Spanish, but don't worry. The truck itself and its design looks pretty old and outdated so we were a little hesitant to try it at first, but after seeing a long line and many people waiting for food in their cars, we followed the crowd and we are glad we did!
