a taco truck parked on the side of the road

CARNE ASADA TACOOOOOS!!! CHORIZO TACOOOOOS!!! Tacos el Torito is a food truck that offers a variety of tacos (barbacoa, al pastor, chorizo, buche, tripa, lengua, cabeza, carne asada, and pollo), quesadillas, sopas (pollo, res, and mondongo), tortas, chuchitos, tamales, burritos, pollo guisados, and drinks. The hubs and I stopped by to check them out, as we saw them while driving back home! We ordered their Carne Asada tacos (super delicious! The meats were well-seasoned and juicy), Al Pastor tacos (made with pineapples, I just wished there were some chunks of pineapples within; this was a little forgettable, but I did like the sauteed onions), Chorizo tacos (one of the best chorizo tacos I've had, the crumbled sausage had a great taste to it with the perfect amount of kick), Carne Asada Burrito (monstrous in size, this was filled to the max with rice, cheese, and tons of carne asada). I loved how the tortillas for the tacos were actually fried with the oil and the juices, making them crispy and delicious (just make sure you request this type of preparation)! All items come with a salsa verde on the side, but I highly recommend using one of their bottled sauces, the Picamas Salsa Brava - nice thick hot sauce for the tacos! We also tried their horchata, which was slightly sweeter, but nice and creamy. The staff here were super friendly, and there were patrons chowing down at their counter as well as around the truck under the shade. A great gem of a taco truck, check them out - they are usually located in front of the Shell gas station off of Lee Highway. +Carne Asada Tacos :D :D :D +delicious carne asada +great Chorizo Tacos :D +generously-filled burritos +Picamas Salsa Brava :D +friendly staff +cash only +located in front of Shell off of Lee Highway

    Chorizo and barbacoa tacos

I am a regular at this taco truck and I have spent so much money there since moving to the area a few years ago. I usually go once a week. They are always friendly and consistent. The tacos are AMAZING!!! I am particularly fond of the chorizo and barbacoa, but I overhear a lot of people ordering lengua, so that may be worth trying if that's your thing. They have a huge menu so if you're craving something different, you'll definitely have options: quesadillas, tortas, pupusas, soup, etc. Note that they are located at N Pershing Dr and N Piedmont. They are there seven days a week, usually starting around 6-6:30 pm and I'm not sure when they close (maybe 9-10pm?). Please go get some tacos and support this great local business during these difficult times - you won't regret it!

$2.50 TACOS-C'MON, you cannot beat that. CARNE ASADA TACOS ALL THE WAY! Also if you're like me and never carry cash, they take cards!

I've only eaten 200 or 300 tacos while in Mexico and throughout Central America, so I'm not an expert. But El Torito has the best tacos I've had by far in the U.S.! I eat there ( food truck) at least once or twice a week. Authentic cuts of meat and friendly service. Try the torta mixed, delicious!!!!!

Tacos: Al Pastor, Cabeza and Lengua - very authentic and very yummm!

I was searching Yelp for authentic street food tacos near Vienna VA and ran across this hidden gem of a food truck in the Merrifield area. It seems they always park and service from the Shell service station right next to the Merrifield post office. Close to home: check Easy parking: check Authentic Mexican Tacos: check (2 corn tortillas, onion & cilantro) 'Offal' style meats available: check (Cabeza (pork stomach), Buche (head meats), Lengua (tongue), Tripa (tripe)) Inexpensive: check ($2.50/taco) Corn tortillas: check For my first try: Cabeza, Lengua and Al Pastor - All were very good. Tortillas were a little overcooked and crunchy - I like mine softer, hence the 4 stars. I will be back!

This is the real deal! Having relocated to this area from out west I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to find authentic Mexican food. I'm so glad that I located this food truck. Their Tacos El Pastor and Carne Asada are delicious. Served traditionally with onion and cilantro. Prices are very reasonable and the owner is very friendly.

    Beef tongue tacos! Amazing!

There are some parking spots right in front, although not many. There is a decent amount of seating, but it would be tight if you had a large party. My partner did note that the bathrooms weren't that great. You immediately get served complementary chips and salsa. They were pretty basic, but not bad. We ordered the following: + Papusas (Pork and Cheese & Loroco and Cheese) - Decent, although I prefer the Loroco (an edible flower bud). + Pollo à la Primavera (chicken dish) - Yummy, especially the sauce which mixes well with their hot/spicy sauce too! I could do without the salad dressing. + Camarones con Calabeza (shrimp dish) - Same as above! Note they leave the tails on. + Natural Juices (Mango and Maranon) - So refreshing! I loved the Maranon (cashew apple) was a wonderful burst of tropical sweetness with a subtle nutty taste. I appreciate that for the pupusas they had the foresight to provide my partner and I two plates so we could sphere the papusas. The portion sizes of the entrees were great for the price. It did take a while for the staff to swing by so that we could get boxes and the check. Note that credit cards and mobile pay are accepted. I definitely wouldn't mind coming back again to try more items on their menu.

They have lots of delicious dishes but we both always get the Steak Fajitas. You get 10oz of marinated skirt steak and that marinade is fire. The steak comes on a sizzling platter with a side of Mexican butter. Butter y'all! You 100% want to pour that butter all over the steak and the sautéed green peppers and onions. This was a new thing for me, but the flavor is incredible. This steak just melts in your mouth. I'm salivating thinking about it. This entree is way too big of a serving to eat at once, but I typically do and am way too full. It's that good! The Fajitas are served with Mexican rice, a la charra beans, guacamole, lettuce, pico de gallo, sour cream and homemade tortillas on the side. The charra beans are also a unique touch. They are hearty and flavorful. Must also brag on their homemade tortillas. To me, the flour is where it's at. They are so soft. You can actually watch them making them fresh from your table. When you put all the fajitas components together and take a bite, it's really delish. Chips and salsa is also stellar, as is their fresh guacamole and queso. If you are going to get a margarita just go ahead and get the large size. They are yummy and it's a better deal than ordering two. Their restaurants are large so lots of tables to accommodate small and large parties alike. It's a casual joint so great for families, celebrations, date night. Service is always quick and attentive, even when they are very busy. If you want a great Mexican meal, come to Guapos. Get those steak fajitas. No notes.

We were promptly seated for dinner and my wife asked for a ginger beer to which the server indicated he didn't think they served ginger beer. My wife indicated that it's on the menu so the server lost instant credibility by saying they didn't have it, and didn't bother to say he would go check. The server brought chips and salsa which we thought were ok. The chips were really thin and the salsa was runny to the point I got it all over the table. Despite asking the server for napkins, he didn't bring any after 10 mins of waiting. I ended up going to the kitchen and asking if I could have napkins and brought them back to the table myself. Totally ridiculous that a customer has to serve themself. Restaurant cleanliness appeared to be problematic with napkins and debris on the floor, and tables that took 30 mins to get cleaned after patrons left. My wife had fajitas and thought they were good. I had a burrito that had a very thick tortilla to the point I felt like I was eating bread. Some of the steak in the burrito was medium-rare despite not being asked for my preference of how I wanted it cooked. You would think that would be well done in this instance. Needless to say, my wife said we're not returning and I'm not going to fight her over it. I don't recall our first experience being this way but the service and food have definitely changed for the worst.

Our waiter, Francisco, was amazinggggg! He checked on us at the right times without being overbearing, gave helpful suggestions, kept our drinks filled, and was genuinely friendly throughout our time at Guapo's! Service like that really makes a difference and definitely makes us want to return. We both ordered the steak and chicken fajitas and they were so good. I have to mention the tortillas because they were honestly incredible. They were thick, warm, buttery, and pillowy in a way you don't usually get! I could honestly eat them by themselves. I also ordered a virgin passion fruit mojito and it was refreshing and just sweet enough without being too much. For two entrées, drinks, and queso, our total was $76, which is very reasonable for the area considering how much food we got and how good everything was. The meat was flavorful and the accompanying broth was amazing. In fact, we ordered a couple of more birria tacos to bring home for later. We also ordered a shrimp burrito which has rice, black or pinto beans, pico de gallo, cilantro, lettuce, cheese, cilantro aioli sauce and red cabbage. The shrimp is fried, not grilled, but the breading is not overwhelming and pairs nicely with the red cabbage and sauces. As other people have mentioned, the burritos are huge and the ingredients are fresh and plentiful. We enjoyed the chips and queso with the chips being fresh and flavorful. The red habanero sauce had a nice kick to it and the green tomatillo sauce was refreshing.
