Located inside a market in the back -- this place is what I consider a "hole in the wall!" The tacos here are amazing and there's a lot of different meat options to pick from. They also have sandwiches here as well which are huge in portion! There's limited dining here so it's more of a grab and go type of restaurants but there are some people who sit at the bar / outdoor chairs to eat! Even for an early lunch time, the place was busy with constant traffic. Our tacos tasted great and liked the fact that they also give you a grilled scallion with your order. I have been a patron for several years and I'm saddened how things have changed over time. When we first started eating here they served generous portions with meats in tacos and salsas. Now, they are quite light on the meat and for extra salsa (tiny container) they charge .50 EACH. I barely eat here now but I had it last week because friends wanted tacos and it's close to home. I was so disappointed and I probably won't be going here again. As a Hispanic lover of tacos, I rather drive further for better quality, better portions, and unlimited salsa, and pick de gallo. I happened to come across this gem by chance running an errand, and cross referenced Yelp for the rating to make sure that the food was rated highly. Another win in the books! I ordered a pair of the cabeza tacos. They were simply unbelievable; they rival or even beat the cachete tacos at Ixtapalapa taqueria in Maryland. The cabeza meat was seasoned well, crisp at the edges, while retaining their succulence and fattiness through the griddling process. The corn tortillas were supple yet crisp on the edges and contained the juices and fats from the cabeza meat very well considering the heat and volume from the protein. The accoutrements of onion, cilantro, radish, cucumber, and salsas all paired extremely well with the heavier cabeza meat. I think this will have to be a staple go-to place for tacos whenever I am in the mood for them. Simply fantastic. read more

Moved out to centreville va from Texas. I'm used to tex mex food and Mexican food from northern Mexico. Since moving out here, I haven't had any "Mexican" food other than Taco Bell and chipotle. After a few weeks of googling Mexican spots near me, none of them looked particularly good or authentic enough for me to spend money on. Fast forward about a month and I come across this place. I've been on Yelp many years but this is my first time ever writing a review. This a hidden gem for sure. I'd happen to be working at one of the many dealerships around the area. Hadn't eaten anything all day and stopped at 7/11, then I noticed the sign for Tacos Lagos a in the next plaza over. So I pulled up old trusty Yelp, and nothing dun, dun, dun. So I'm at dilemma whether to try it or not, and I said screw it im hungry and everything is about to close soon. So I get there and walking in I see that is a mix of Hispanic store( think Mercadito), and they have a sit down area down the middle of the store. You go the back to make your order, I ordered two tacos al pastor and two de carne asada. I sat down to wait and noticed a guy eating two tameles that smelled amazing, and they were big sized tameles. I thought about going back to order them too but 2 minutes later my food was ready. I took it to go and was surprised by the weight of how heavy it felt for only four tacos. I'm driving home and almost had to pull over to eat them since it smelled so amazing but I hold out. I get home and pull them out and this are some hefty tacos, great portion of meat, onions and cilantro, limes, radish, pico, and the sauces. Hands down one of the best authentic tacos I had in while, usually have to go to Manassas to get something like that. I definitely will be back to try the tamales. Oh and I also happened to put them on Yelp just so people are more aware of this place. read more

I am so glad a Yelp search took me here--like other reviewers have already said, their tacos are so good and generously portioned! Their flour tortillas taste homemade, and the assorted meat fillings we sampled (carnitas, al pastor, barbacoa, lengua, steak, and chicken) left nothing to be desired. The accompanying sauces had bright flavors and also seemed very fresh. I got six good-sized tacos for $20. That's a steal if you ask me! Some of the newer, "trendier" taco places that have popped up more recently have delicious but notably smaller tacos. If you're hungry, you can come here and get a few and feel sated. I have only visited parts of California and Mexico, so I can't say I know what "legit" tacos are supposed to be like, but my guess is these would make my west coast people and Mexico natives happy. I found this little gem here on Yelp, I went by looking at the photos and I gotta say the tacos did not disappoint!! I had the carne asada, Al pastor, tripa and suadero !! Súper tasty, right amount of meat and sides. It's more of a takeout place, it's mainly a Mexican grocery store, great options for what they carry. I left with tacos and snacks !! Authentic tacos with good flavor. Tried three different tacos here. Carne asada, chorizo and al pastor. The chorizo was amazing. The al pastor was a little burnt but still nice overall flavor and Carne asada was good. The salsas are very good and the red one had a nice spice to it. Definitely will return. read more

I'm not a food critic but a simple truthful response could have been I love tacos and started this taco place. It's not important where your from as long as you respect the food and keep it in is natural state, as it was intended to be enjoyed no matter the location. What a disappointment, the lengua was old and recooked with oil to soften it up and it had that fried meat skin. The tortillas, where are these things from? For heavens sake under the name reads tortillera (which means they make their own tortillas...in this case hard to believe that these stale tortillas were made here). What in the world did I just eat. The asada taco was just slight better (this is relative because I'm not saying it was good) and still not good. I don't wish bad business on any hard working folks, but this was not authentic, not fresh, and a front to tell someone that she was from Guanajuato, why?
