Five star move. 1 BR in-city move. They sent 4 guys who made quick work of the move. There's a 3 hour minimum but they completed everything in 90 minutes. Very impressive and happy to pay for 3 hours if they get it done smoothly in half the time. They had the deal with a lot of stairs, and did some great problem solving when the loading dock at the destination was occupied. Keith, Antwan, Jerome, and Duke were friendly and professional. Timeliness: 2 hours late in picking up my stuff. When I contracted them, i asked for a COI because i was not allowed to move into my new building without the insurance document. They got the document to me after 3 days and 30 minutes before my move. My building freaked out. The company also stopped answering my emails and phone calls during this time and would not give me information regarding the letter of insurance. Communication: the company all uses the exact same email address so emails get missed or ignored all the time. They also dont always answer your calls. Moving: most of my items were scratched, bent, and one was broken into pieces. This company only covers items with blankets and doesnt utilize bubble wrap at all. Many of my boxes were also flipped upside down when the boxes were clearly marked. I filed a claim about one of my items and they never responded. The movers are nice, but doesnt seem like most have much experience in moving. They are over priced in comparison to other companies and considering their low quality movers they should not be charging as much as they do. read more

My District Relocator experience was top knotch from beginning to end. First, when I called I talked with Tony about my needs and he was clear about the price, very accessible (including giving me his cell) and not overly pushy since I wasn't ready to commit at the time of my first call. However, after I booked with them, I appreciated the detail of the confirmation process which seems like a lot but I prefer overcommunication. My crew consisted of Dwayne, Breon and Antoine and sadly I know I am missing someone but these guys were pros. To be clear my job was small but the fact that I lived on a 5 floor walkup was not ideal. Yet, they did what would of taken me hours in minutes and it was just effortlessly. Some may say why did you spend the money but listen it was hot, there is no elevator where I lived previously and for me it was money well spent. Worth every penny. These guys came and were on time, got to work right away, needed little direction, but accommodated everything that my wife and I wanted. They have great attitudes and an army of dudes that just straight up tackled my tough apartment in no time. They also moved us into an old apartment building with no elevator, and were extremely efficient about taking big pieces of furniture up stairs. They were also super fun and have a great attitudes joking with me the whole time, which makes the terrible process of moving all the better. We gave them a huge tip, and even with that they came out well under the prices quoted by all the other major movers in the city. My expectations were exceeded on every front! I live alone, so moving is always a cause of stress and anxiety for me, but District Relocators made my life so easy this past move. I cannot stress how quick and efficient they are. I packed up an entire large one-bedroom and upon arriving (they called me when they were 30 min away), they loaded everything into the moving truck within 40 min. They wrapped furniture which was fragile and nothing was damaged in the move. They then got to the new place quickly and unloaded everything within an hour, while also asking my preferences for where I'd like furniture to be placed! Everything was smooth and hassle-free and I am so grateful for their service. Not to mention the total price which was literally 50% of what others quoted (I got quotes from ~10 places). This was one of the rudest companies I have dealt with. I highly advise that anyone considering working with them stays away. There were several logistical concerns with what they proposed us. For example, they wanted to access to our home for packing on a weekday when we were working at the office so they could fit in other mothers on our moving day. We were moving from Northeast DC to Northwest DC, On our moving day, they wanted to carry the furniture down the stairs (ten flights!) because our freight elevator was not available during the only 2 hour time frame that worked for them, despite us having booked them for a 4 hour time frame. This concerned me that furniture would be damaged during the process. Beyond the above, the greatest concern with this company was the tone they used during our interactions. From the minute I first introduced myself to them on the phone and explained our concerns I was met with hostility and rude responses - they also said "it's not a problem we know what we are doing" without giving simple explanations or answers to my questions. I explained that if I did not understand some of the logistics behind it I would be concerned about continuing with them. They told me to find other movers and ended the call. I was moving from Washington DC to Fairfax, I had contacted tony and he did not respond so I then had to contact Linda, she was very unprofessional and rushed me during the call. She also had a attitude. I was waiting outside my home for the movers, Started waiting at 9:30am and they were scheduled to come at 10 o'clock, After 2 hours waiting they finally showed up and they said sorry for the wait due to them having a flat tire. Asoon as they stepped out of the vehicle and came towards me with the paperwork the driver smelled like straight marijuana, One of the movers also looked a little tipsy, another of the movers smelled like straight shit no offense. There names were Keith, Derrick, Delonte, Chris and Dayton. After they had moved my stuff to Fairfax, I had un loaded the big boxes and plugged it in to make sure they did not break my TV. After plugging it in I noticed that the TV was broken. Also saw that my $200 mirror was broken. Cory and Tony please get your workers under control. I will be taking this to court and will be filing a lawsuit. read more

The move itself was not that bad. The three gentlemen that helped me move out of my studio apartment into a row house were extremely fast.This is the only reason I didn't give this company 1 star. The issue for me came after. During the course of the move, there was some damage to my belongings. The movers told me it was an honest mistake (fine with me) and informed me that I could reach out to the company to get reimbursed. Since the move (about 2 months ago), I have attempted to reach out to the company to submit a claim at least 6 times and still haven't heard anything. All I get is a generic message that they will reach out soon. It seems to me like they are dodging having to pay for the damage that they caused. Considering the damage was not that severe, I thought it would be a quick and easy process to get my claim through. I am still waiting for a response as I write this review. There are plenty of other moving companies out there that probably treat their customers better, so I would look elsewhere for your next move. read more

I give "district relocators" a 5 star with pleasure. The crew members were very professional, arrived promptly ( a little early), and worked fast. If you are moving and are in the DC area, I would highly suggest using "DR". Oh not to mention their prices are very reasonable, and there are NO hidden fees. The price issue was really worrying me when I called around to other companies. A fee for this a fee for that. It is what it is with "DR". I would suggest being ready when the crew arrives as they move very fast(but with care), and if you are not ready it can slow things down. District Relocators has exceeded my expectations again. This is my second move with this company and I plan to use them next time I move locally. I called DR and spoke with Cory who masterfully planned a solution to my complex moving situation. I needed a UPACK truck (delivered from out of state) parked in a nearby lot unloaded and all my items transferred to my home by a separate truck. This was necessary because my cul de sac was too small to accommodate the UPACK truck. On May 8, Greg, Derrick, and Jarvis completed this task without a hitch. Not only did they not damage any of my property, but they completed this massive undertaking on an unseasonably hot day cheerfully and graciously. I had district relocators help me move from my apartment building in Washington Dc to a suite located in FairFax VA, They came 2 Hours later than the expected arrival time. There were 5 men that arrived to help move, When the entered my home I smelled a strong sent of Marijuana and Beer. My work has required me to move several times over the years, and District Relocators has hands-down been my best move experience. For this move, I relocated from an apartment in DC to a house in Arlington. My move took three hours door-to-door, and the four-person crew was great (Akeem, Dave, Scrap, & Mikey). So, so impressed with our moving crew of Tay, Don and Drey!! They effortlessly and seamlessly moved out of a big two story condo building, dropped off a quarter of our belongings at a storage unit and effortlessly moved us into an ENGLISH basement. Corey and his team are truly outstanding! They showed up exactly on time, and within 5 minutes they were starting to pack it up. They were beyond professional, making sure to take note of any furniture that needed extra care, or ensure that none of our valuables were handled improperly. For the move-in they did a fantastic job getting furniture into odd places, and went above and beyond to make sure each box was in the appropriate room. They charge exactly what they quote you, and not a cent more (no additional fees for tape, wrapping materials, etc), and if you mention that you found them on "yelp" they keep their word at giving a $50 discount. We were very impressed by the service District Relocators crew has provided to us. We were moving from a 1 bedroom apartment to a 5 bedroom house, which was build in 1950s, so all the doors/windows were narrow and hard to get through with all the furniture. The crew took extra care to disassemble the furniture that did not fit to be able to carry it inside the house. Once inside, they have assembled everything back together very quickly. Also, our new house is on a very steep hill, so it took additional effort to lift all the boxes and furniture and carry them up the hill. The crew was up for a challenge and moved everything with a great attitude! I would definetely recomend their service to anyone and everyone! UPDATE: 3/19 It has now been an additional month since I wrote my original review and it's pretty much been a nightmare working with this company. I originally gave them 3 stars due to the move, however have updated it to 1 star PURELY because of their customer service staff and attitude. After I contacted them about my missing and broken items, their customer service rep was so rude to me, and told me to "download an app" to replace a remote they had lost - taking no responsibility for the loss. I went back and forth with them for weeks. Finally, they sent me an email over 2 weeks ago saying they would replace the lost item, and give me a stipend to get my bedframe fixed/cleaned. Since then, I have emailed them and followed up FOUR times with zero response. They finally emailed me back today claiming I "never responded to their proposal" - which is complete BS because I have all four emails saved in my outbox (not sure if they know how email works?!). I hate that their movers are having to bear the brunt of the business side of this company - as I mentioned previously the movers were great, however the staff has been such a nightmare to work with. I would honestly just pay more and go with a bigger, more reputable company than have to deal with them. -------- ORIGINAL REVIEW ON 2/20: I moved from DC to NYC on Jan 24th - it was a last minute booking with them, and they really saved me as my original moving company cancelled last minute. Overall the move was great - the team came on time, and were extremely professional. However, there were a few issues which were unfortunate. Not reasons I wouldn't book with them again, but disappointing nonetheless. Just something to be aware of: -Scratches on bedframe: I have an upholstered bed frame which now has black marks along parts of it from the move. This was not wrapped or properly stored in the truck, even though is a light color.  -Missing $60 Apple TV remote: while all my other remotes, etc made it to NY one of them is missing - my Apple TV remote. I can not control my Apple TV without it (a $150 item), so it's virtually useless now.  -Broken kitchen items: A couple of my mugs, and a glass storage container were all broken when I unpacked the boxes - this was extremely dangerous as I almost slit my hand unpacking.  Again, they did an amazing job overall, but the above items are a bit disappointing. I would still book with them again, but would be a lot more careful and not give them my valuables. read more

Akeem, Tay and Jamaal are professional, fast and good at what they do. They got me out of my old apartment and into my new home in just under 2 hours. There was a question about whether the couch would fit through my new doorway, but Akeem noticed my new roommates had a screw driver and used it to take the blinds off the door, allowing it to open wide enough to fit the couch. He diligently reattached the blinds after. I'm grateful that they made such a stressful time in my life feel a lot more peaceful! read more

There is no better moving company than DC Relocators. They are amazing! I have used moving companies before and it has never been anything but a nightmare. THESE GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE! I recently used these guys for a dreaded move - AND THEY WERE FANTASTIC! They were quick and careful, taking precautions with my valuable possessions. The lady in their main office, Linda, was so helpful and accommodating - especially given my plans were constantly in a flux. You have to reserve the services for minimum 3 hours but we were actually done in 2. The moving men were great and nice and hilarious to work with. I technically didn't have to lift a finger. Next time I would recommend making sure the boxes are labelled and packed for the possibility of being laid on any side of the box. My possessions were fine, just some of the paints spill- 100% my fault. Just a heads up for fellow movers to keep in mind when packing (in general). OVERALL: GREAT BUSINESS! read more

Two people who had recently moved in DC recommended District Relocators to me, and I would recommend them to anyone looking for a reasonably priced local move. Linda responded extremely quickly to my online request for a quote, and included her direct phone number. I was always able to reach her when I had a question or update about my move, and the quote ended up being exactly what I paid! I only got one other quote, and the District Relocator price was more than $100 less than the low end of the other estimate. On move date, Chris, Nurse, and Lway were great. They called when they were on their way, and ably handled parking the truck around the cars that had ignored the No Parking signs. Even though there were 80 stairs (80!) between the two locations, they zipped up and down, finishing the entire move in just under the three hour minimum. read more

There were multiple pick up/drop locations as I was moving some things into storage and some into my new home.
