Getting a quote was easy, and they were by far the most bang for your buck. Linda was great to talk with and answered all my questions before setting up our move date. Dave, Leon, Don, and Dre were total rock-stars! They called to confirm arrival and even with some unforeseen issues they moved us out and in in a little less than 3hrs! They were fast and efficient and very courteous. I did find a few scuffs on some furniture pieces, but luckily nothing too serious. I was in the hospital with cancer and a liver transplant during this move. My father had to supervise the move due to my mother being in the hospital with me. I had 30 moving blankets from previous moves that were left so they could wrap my expensive furniture and move it to a storage unit, knowing after being released from the hospital I would have to move in with my parents while I healed. Upon visiting the storage unit for the first time I couldn't believe my eyes. They wrapped 4-5 pieces of furniture and just threw everything else into the storage unit unwrapped. Artwork unwrapped on the floor. Lamps and shades not boxed. Already noticed a lampshade damaged and had to order a another. There's no telling what I'll find that is damaged when it comes time for me to move again. They also stole my moving blankets. None of this would have happened had I been there watching but they took advantage of me and the situation. My mother has called several times to try to rectify this and ask why my furniture wasn't wrapped and why my moving blankets disappeared. They have been unresponsive and have done nothing. read more

Worst moving experience ever!!! I've moved six times in the last six years and this was far the worst experience I had. 1. The arrival window was 9-10, they arrived 10:50. No big deal, it was snowing and they called me to let me know they were going to be late. 2. I could smell marijuana when they came in! Nothing against it...But not while moving my stuff in a snow day! 3. They removed everything quickly...they were not as careful as I would expect. My bed was the only furniture that needed to be disassembled. They removed everything and then told me they could not dissemble the bed...What??? Why would I hire movers for? I hired many other moving services before and it was the first time they told me my bed was "too complicated" (it is an IKEA bed, with 4 drawers, that my partner and I assembled ourselves). We insisted the bed needed to be dissembled and we pulled the manual from IKEA website. They did it (it wasn't a big deal) but said they could not be hold accountable when assembling it again. 4. One of them took a dump in my bathroom...No big deal, I know nature calls... 5. I had reserved 4 parking spots in the street so they could park the truck. They parked too far from the curbside and cars could not pass by...I asked them to park closer but they said (not in a very polite why) that they could not, or they could damage the trees...Later on they end up moving it, and there was no damage to the trees. 6. Before they came in to the new place, I explained to one of the (there were 3) how the elevator worked...he said ok, but didn't pain much attention to it. A few minutes later, after loading the elevator for the second time, the elevator broke. One of them said he didn't know he was not supposed to pull the door to close. He later said he didn't say anything and that they did not break the elevator. They clearly broke the elevator. 7. Because I knew some furniture might not fit the elevator, I had already payed more, to include the stairs. I moved to the 3rd floor, so there were two flights of stairs...They charge $20 per flight...there was some confusion on the phone when hiring the service and Holley agreed to charge $20 for the 2 flights. But it seems that is not how you count the flights...and they told me I actually had 4 flights. So at the end, even thought they broke my elevator, they wanted to charge me $80 bucks more for the stairs (they argued that I did not payed anything in advance for the stairs). So we called Holley and we agreed I would pay $40 more, given that she had charged me $20 for two flights already. I had already wrote the check and end up using the money I was going to give as tip to pay the difference. At this point I didn't want to give any tips anyways (but was going to). 8. They broke my floor lamp... 9. And of course they did a terrible job at assembling my bed. The worst part is: they did not use all the screws they were supposed to and they took the rest with them!! So I couldn't fix it once they left. I don't expect my bed to last much after that. Don't be tempted by their cheaper price!! Worst experience ever!! read more

I was told that specific things would be done and when the crew arrived none of it was apparently communicated to them. The moving crew arrived 30 minutes later than when the foreman called and communicated to me. When they entered my home, some of the crew members barely wore their masks and they did not have booties/shoe covers on their shoes as I was told by the sales person, otherwise I would have purchased some. In addition, they did not cover the stairs/flooring in the old or new home where I have an infant (during COVID). They did not disassemble or reassemble the specified furniture as the sales person promised. I had to pay someone else to do this before the moving company and after their departure. There was damage at my first residence during pick-up and at my new home during delivery. It includes breaking a large, expensive mirror; a $2000 leather, motorized reclining sofa (which they dragged onto the moving truck instead of lifting it with at least two of the FOUR movers assigned to my move. They've also scratched up the leather on the loveseat. I am furious! There were two bookcases that were mounted to the wall by brackets in which the movers ripped out the wall leaving holes to be repaired. Instead of the attendants unscrewing the brackets or telling me to do so, they just left holes in my wall. They also broke the pieces off of a bed frame that I had to discard for safety (left sharp edges). At my brand new home, they damaged walls leaving dents and scrapes and to top it all off, they left their food trash and plastic bottles on my property. I am so disappointed and angry. What angers me the most is that I submitted a claim with pictures of the damage to the moving company in August and as of November 25, I have received no communication or resolve to my claim. To damage both my homes that will need repairs and my property that I had to dispose of and not offer to reimburse via my claim is poor business and unprofessional. The customer service with this company is non-existent and therefore, I do not recommend doing business with them. read more

The buildings I was moving in between were giving me trouble. But they worked around any casualty. When we bought our new home, I did some price comparisons and once again, District Relocators came in below everyone else and I knew their service would be top tier. I worked with Tony on a quote and got a quick reply and he was very responsive to answer my questions throughout the whole process. In addition, we wanted to move on a Sunday, which his team was able to accommodate. We had no causalities of broken items and the team did a fantastic job not scratching our dinging our newly-painted walls. I have moved every 1-2 years over the last 20 years due to work and this was the worst move I have ever had. This is a shame as I have used District Relocators in the past and was very satisfied. However, this move was unorganized from the beginning as they kept pressuring me to change my moving time outside of the time frame provided when booking the move. I finally agreed as they were just supposed to prepare and wrap the furniture in my apartment since I didn't have the freight elevator reserved, but instead they stole the freight elevator from someone else and began moving my things anyway. The movers were completely unprofessional. Due to their neglect there was significant damage to my household goods, many boxes destroyed as well as numerous broken items. They also put a huge gouge in my living room floor when moving the sofa. I purchased several wardrobe boxes and the movers were so careless that bar and clothes were all at the bottom of those boxes which completely defeats the purpose. The really sad part is that despite being a loyal customer for years and voicing my concerns they put me off for months and then refused to offer any compensation to make things right. read more

I found out about District Relocators via Yelp. I called a few places for quotes and time frames, etc. The weekend is more busy and more expensive. I spoke with Mike and he gave me a quote to move from my current location to the next place. The quote had three movers and big truck. I also received a discount by saying I was referred by Yelp. I did want to think it over before agreeing to use their services. Mike called me the next morning to find out my decision and the move was confirmed. They also called me the morning of to confirm and they were on time. The move went very smooth. This was my first time using movers so it was weird for me to just sit there and not help. But they wrapped everything with plastic wrap or blankets. The movers were very professional and nice. Most importantly, these guys were STRONG! The truck they brought did not have a ramp, so they lifted all of my furniture in the truck. I was beyond impressed. Since this was my first time using a mover, I found out that they have a box limit. So I moved any breakable or personal items on my own. Thank goodness that they also take apart your furniture if needed. These guys were phenomenal. I would have taken apart the furniture myself if I could but that was not physically possible. I'm a picky person, so my items remaining in tact and just as good was critical and they did a great job. I would definitely use this company again and would recommend their services. read more

First of all, the guys who helped me move -- Greg, Greg, Dave and Kendall -- were amazing. District Relocators actually helped me move twice in 4 months. I was doing a condo remodel, needed to move some of my stuff to a storage unit and the rest to a temporary apartment a few blocks away... and then move it all back in four months later when the remodel was finished. Both moves went great. Both crews were on time, friendly, efficient, accommodating to a few special requests, kept all my items safe and sound during the move, handled some very heavy boxes, placed everything where I wanted it -- and both moves were very reasonably priced. The most impressive feat was getting my sofa in and out of a freight elevator. It would have taken me 45 minutes to figure out the geometry of how to do it, but they did it in a flash. They even helped me repair one of the legs of my bed that (through my own incompetence) got damaged during my stay at the temporary residence. I also appreciate that they "loaned" a couple of blankets for four months to help protect a very fragile item kept in storage -- and that they took apart and reassembled my bed on both moves. I cannot speak highly enough of my experience with District Relocators. Bravo a thousand times for an outstanding performance!!! read more

I have nothing good to say, only a big FUCK YOU to District Relocators. I have used them before and recommended them to several friends based on what was previously great work. However, after my most recent experience I can say they are NOT the company to use, UNLESS: you want the movers to show up late, overcharge you for "extra services," throw your stuff around, scratch up your family heirloom furniture, break your stuff, make disparaging comments about your possessions, make you sit in the hot sun waiting for two hours while they don't call you to tell you when they will arrive, leave the door to your condo wide open when they know you won't be back for several hours and your safe of valuables is still in the condo, and disrespect and totally disregard your building's policies and procedures for moving. If that is what you're looking for, by all means, call these guys up. If not, then call someone else. read more

My husband and I used District Relocators twice. The first time they did a decent job and they looked so good on yelp that we booked with them again. During the second experience the actual move was fine. The movers were really friendly and quick. Unfortunately, they broke three items during our move. Accidents happen and we had purchased the optional insurance, so we weren't too worried about it. We found the process to get paid for our broken items to be arduous and frustrating. The woman that answers the main phone number is polite and very sweet, but she was not able to help us with the claim. We were told that only the owner could handle our claim. The owner was difficult to reach and largely unresponsive. My husband is ridiculously persistent, so we eventually got paid, but it took leaving messages every day over the course of three weeks,and threatening to file a formal complaint with DOT (they regulate insurance for movers) before we FINALLY received payment. Ultimately, we did get paid a fair price for the broken items, but the experience of having to badger him for the money was a negative one and a huge waste of time. They brought extra people because of this but still completed the move in the quoted amount of time. We found District Relocators on Angie's List and decided to hire them based off of other reviews. We completed the online quote generator and reached out to set up a move date. We heard back relatively quickly with a tentative date and time of their availability. We responded immediately and scheduled. We received what looked like a form email a short time later with all of the terms of the move included, but it didn't confirm the date and time. My husband reached out to the manager (Corey) asking to confirm that the date and time we'd agreed to was, in fact, what was scheduled. We did eventually hear back from him - but it had us second-guessing our decision for a couple of days. Fast forward to moving day. Our move started off with a phone call from Corey letting us know that the truck that our movers were using had broken down and they were waiting for a new truck. He also told us that they would go ahead and send the team to our apartment to start prepping our furniture. Frustrating, yes - but at least they called! When the team did show up (on foot - carrying / pushing the wrapping and padding materials for a few blocks!), they didn't waste any time getting started with wrapping and padding our furniture to get it out the door. The new truck arrived within about 45 minutes of their arrival, and I didn't really feel like our overall time was impacted at all due to the truck mishap. I was really glad that the truck had broken down prior to our belongings being loaded into it! The move was seamless. The team moved almost everything from the truck into our new house with ease. There was some trouble moving our (very large) sectional couch into the basement, so they had to stop and unwrap it outside so it could be taken apart before coming through the door - but again, they made it work and they reassembled the couch in the basement. I often judge a company not by the mishaps that arise, but how a company handles those mishaps when they arise. Because of the truck breaking down and the team starting our move late, District Relocators knocked an hour off of the overall price without us asking for it. In my opinion, that's good customer service -- they acknowledged that something had gone wrong and they gave their customer something as a way to say "I'm sorry." It was greatly appreciated. I would definitely recommend District Relocators to others to assist with their move. Overall, the move went great and the team of movers was superb. They were not only really good at their jobs, but they were enjoyable people to be around as well - and that makes all the difference! read more
