OMG!!! What a disfunctional company!! We setup a new account online and had an install date. When we called to confirm our appointment for Saturday, we were told the appointment was cancelled. We tried to find out why and were unsuccessful. First of all, we couldn't understand ALL FIVE of the different people we spoke to. They all said they couldn't help us and to call (866) 595-0754 for new customers. The recording on that number indicated they were closed and would not open until Monday (today is Friday). Wow! if this is how they treat new customers, I DO NOT want to do business with them. Absolutely unbelieveable!! read more

I had service for several years and cancelled service 2 months ago. I received a gift card for the amount I over paid on my account which was automatically withdrawn by direct tv every month. Today I received a statement for period ending 7/11/17 with a balance for a PPV from 2014. I called direct tv and was told I am in collections. I asked how I can be in collections for something I was just billed for and never was informed of in almost 3 years. All they could do was refer me to the collection agency who is closed today. I do not have any accounts in collections. I pay everything on time. I would not recommend direct tv. read more

Husband is currently furloughed through his government job. Tried to ask for help in regards to our bill. The first gal actually laughed and told us, you'll get paid eventually you shouldn't worry about it! After requesting to speak to someone else, the second person only offered $5 off! THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE ON THE PLANET! Not asking for sympathy, just asking for help paying our bill. Guess we will just have to cancel and then let them eat the cancellation fee. read more

I published an issue about direct tv the other day. I am pleased to say they changed my opinion of them even with the problem I encountered. They are working hard to improve themselves. The fact that they read my survey and called me directly to discuss my concerns proves it. This is rare as most companies ignore the surveys or they look at 1 or 2 each week. For DDTV, as large as they are, to be looking so closely at the surveys and to call me personally is a tribute to their efforts. Keep up the good work DDTV. read more

Have been a long time Direct TV Subscriber. Over the last couple years, Direct TV has continued to raise rates significantly, and offer the same canned response, telling you how great of improvements have been made. I have not seen any improvements. Bills just keep getting higher, and less programming to watch. I am now up to $90. a month, for pretty much a "basic programming package". Direct TV also charges $10 a month, for HD Service, which is pretty much the "standard " now. (Note- Dish Satellite does not charge for HD Service.) Now that AT& T has taken over Direct TV last year, customer service has gone downhill as I expected it would. They also have cancelled any "long term" customer credits I had on my bill. Sadly, Direct TV has been gobbled up by another large Corporate Entity (AT & T), and now they are just going to try to gouge the customer for as much profit as they can. I am now looking into Dish TV Satellite Service for my future needs. I can get the same TV Channels that I need (and use), for a much better rate. $15.00 less for two years on the promotional, plus an additional $ 10 less for not paying for free HD Service. Bottom line, $25.00 less a month for two years, than $10 less a month after that. Also, Direct TV (AT & T) keeps raising the rates on their hidden "Regional Sports Fees", and they don't even have PAC-12 Network ! read more

Why is it we cant get our home town sports but we get every other darn state. We pay as do those other stated. Nothing on college sports. That sucks. May need to get another carrier. read more

Found cards in mail room of my Apt. Called for info, then read reviews. They asked for my address, soc. security #. NEVER give soc security out. If they steal my identity they get the severely crippled up body w/ it... Thank Dog (god spelled backwards). Little sarcastic humor. I read reviews. Male sounding African American- very nice, promising me $200 gift card - hard selling. Told him 3 times only calling for info. Didn't care if he already checked my credit. That's part of their process- of no concern to me and I hung up. I don't want the aggravation I've read on these reviews. Rather keep antenna TV, look @ you tube and read a good book. Thanks! You decide if you want to pay for lousy service. "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger". I don't need more strength. read more

I had Directv in the 1990s through 2000 and had no problems. On November 27, 2015. I called Directv about an offer on the Internet. The person I talked with was giggling and talking with someone else while I was trying to get information on the different packages and fees in the Internet offer. I told her that I was mainly interested in sports and wanted SportsPac and would take the Select package to get it. She first told me the price would be $48.49 for the first year but then later changed it to $57 and change. The internet offer said $19.99 the first year for Select and 13.99 for SportsPac. The ad didn't say that Directv charges $6.50 per month for each TV in the house and $15 for the DVR. The ad said the DVR was free but she said the $15 per month was for "the service". Despite the deceptive ad, I subscribed and the equipment was installed promptly the next day. When I discovered, on November 29, that the Select package did not include ESPN, I called and arranged to get the Choice Package. When the Directv agent asked me to check that ESPN was now on my system, I told him that I was recording two football games and could not get on ESPN. He said that I had been given a plain DVR rather than the Genie system that is offered on the Internet. He arranged to change the DVR for Genie. The web site said that the first month's charge is zero but my credit card has been charged for the $57 mentioned in the first call. The web site also says that there is a $200 gift card awarded to people who sign up for Choice or higher. The agent said that he had to apply to another office to get the gift card approved. Later I got a call saying that the gift card was denied because I had not asked for Choice in the original call. I talked with Directv's contract office and asked where the contract specified that the offer of a gift card was void if one changed packages after the first call. He could cite no passage supporting such a notion. read more

Several years ago, I was a very satisfied Direct TV customer but due to rising cost of the service, I decided to try another service. I realized, I had made a mistake and couldn't wait for my contract to be over, so I could return to Direct TV. Last year, I was very excited that I could finally was able to return to Direct TV, only to find their service had seriously deteriorated. There are continual interruptions while watching a show. Every time I try to order watch on demand movie, I have to call customer service to order the movie. It then takes about an hour for them to walk me through all the steps to try and fix the problem before the realize they can't fix it and order the movie for me. I finally asked them to send a repairman out to fix the problem once and for all and they told me they couldn't because their systems said everything was working fine. I am extremely unhappy with Direct TV's service and customer service and would strongley advise anyone for TV service to look elsewhere. read more

I was tired of the local cable company raising my rates every three months. I gave Direct TV a chance. With their introductory discounts and a cash card from Costco I signed on. Installation went well, the young man was polite and we had no issues. Five months into a 2 year contract and I'm ready to bail. I cannot make any sense of their channel lineup. The channel lists are filled with infomercials. Try finding a "normal" channel. The guide list displays 6 channels with two hours of "programming". For example, the channels (316-321) displayed in order : Anuschka Handbags, Gourmet Holiday,Nu-face anti-aging, Copper Chef, Identity Theft, Arthritis Pain. Seriously? I'm paying over $125 a month (and it will go up to near $200 in the second year) and I have to weed through all this crap? Best of all, today Direct TV had "technical difficulties" with the FOX channel and I was unable to watch the Packers/Falcons playoff game!!!! I'm done. read more

horrible customer service. promised $300 gift card in july...now mid november and still no card. have contacted directv 3 times only to be referred to some 3rd party company. have called them 10 times, left 7 messages no call back. when you call their support line they tell you your next in line but inevitably recorded message asks you to leave a message and no one returns the call. what a scam. do not recommend them at all...just a scam and no help....originally took a day and a half to satisfactorily get service st up..should have taken that as an omen...scam scam scam!!!!!!!!!!! read more

Let me start this review by stating, "I LOVE DirecTV!" So does my wife. We have loved DirecTV for years and still LOVE their services. But not today! "What happened today," you ask? Well, keep reading and I might just save you time and money by helping you avoid the hassle that we experienced with this business. My wife and I moved into a new house and had the DirecTV representative come over to connect the boxes and service. The gentleman was helpful and informative all the way up to the description and analysis of the all NEW Protection Plan they offer. Here is where DirecTV will nab a few extra dollars from the public by "not explaining" precisely the cancellation process. The representative stated that, if we start the first month free Protection Plan and we don't end up wanting to continue using it, we have "30 days" to cancel without being billed for the next month of Protection Plan service. It also states in the pamphlet they give you, "You're not charged anything for the first 30 days" and "You can cancel within the first 30 days with no penalty." THESE STATEMENTS ARE NOT TRUE!!! Do not fall for this! We tried to call and cancel at around 20 days in and they ALREADY CHARGED us for the next month. I am happy to say that DirecTV took care of the issue. But not until my wife spent between 30-45 minutes on the phone with a representative who kept trying to explain why they need to charge us for the next month because it's policy. I am done. Do with this information as you wish. Good day to you. read more

While the service & reception have always been fine, we can no longer get NBC, due to the current dispute between DirecTV & KVOA (NBC affiliate-TSN). This is a "dis-service" to the DirecTV satellite serviced customer. Tune in (4) and see what DirecTV is saying about their client, KVOA. DirecTV essentially indicates that the client has chosen to pull off the channel lineup, while the client, aka TV station owner(s), indicate they are in negotiation with DirecTV ,on their website. YES. It is a NEGOTIATION! Again, the customer - client is RIGHT. As those of us from retail (when a customer mattered) were taught and it proves true daily; even in 2015, "The customer is always right". SHAME ON DIRECTV for having a message that basically says the TV station doesn't care about what you want on your TV & CONGRATULATIONS to KVOA for "telling it like it is"; not "blaming" others. Hope the dispute is negotiated soon, so I can hopefully, regain the BEST LOCAL NEWS station. If I was in Tucson, I would have my antennae up like we used to. Again, I see DIRECTV EQUALLY AT BLAME, AS THIS IS A NEGOTIATION BETWEEN TWO PARTIES. DirecTV, YOU ARE NOT PERFECT! QUIT WHINING & BLAMING OTHERS. GO NEGOTIATE IN YOUR CUSTOMERS BEST INTEREST, DRY YOUR TEARS, AND PULL UP YOUR BOOTSTRAPS. read more

To begin, if we could rate Direct TV as 0 stars we would, but since we can't we will leave it at 1. Direct TV has the absolute worst customer service we have ever been involved with. There have been numerous mess-ups on their part, but the one that has affected the most, is when they installed our equipment (for the second time because they brought the incorrect equipment the first time) they nicked a wire in our wall and cut out our electricity on the entire West side of our house. We had to buy extensions chords just to use our computer and television. Here is the best part, this happened in November of 2010. Yes, 6 months ago and we have yet to have anyone fix it. No one calls back. No one says sorry. No one has tried to even accommodate us with...lets say a free movie, nothing. When we call, we are told someone will call back, and of course, no one calls back, so we call again and again. Now all we want is to have our damaged house fixed and to get out of the two-year contract without a cancellation fee. I don't think this is asking much since we have been paying and very patient customers. But of course, no one is "authorized" to speak to us about waving the cancellation fee, we are told we have to write a letter!!! Really?!? In this day and age of technology, no one can speak to us about this issue? We have to write letter? Makes no sense to us why we would be treated with such disregard when we haven't done anything wrong. So, our recommendation is to stay with who you have, do not use Direct TV, they do not care about you. You are only a number. read more

The installer came and hooked up our direct tv service about 3 weeks ago. When they hooked up the service, they Unhooked our DVD player. We have not tried to watch a movie, until today as my husband just had knee surgery and needs to rest with his leg elevated. Of course, the DVD/Blueray does not work as it was disconnected and never reconnected by a negligent installer. I have been waiting for customer service on the phone now for over 20 minutes--funny how your call is responded to immediately when you want to BUY something, but if you actually want the service you bought to WORK, you are no longer a valued customer! I had one CS rep who told us there was no way a tech would come out to hook up the DVD player, that DIRECT TV unhooked!!! This is the WORST customer service EVER. I would love to see Direct TV go out of business with this lack of interest in their captured clients! What a mess. My poor husband! read more

I was a Direct TV customer for over 7 years unenterupted service. One of their "leased recievers" I had had for the 7 years went bad. I called for service & they said I would be charged $50. to come out & repair "thier leased equipement". I said that if they did not come & repair free of charge to me, that I would go to Dishnetwork, the Direct TV rep. told me to "GO AHEAD". So I did, then Dir TV billed me $360. for "Early Termination Fee". 7 years & this is "Early Termination". I could not work it out with them for 2 months, until I contacted the State Attorney's Office. Then they started backpedling like crazy, they reversed their decision of trying to "SCREW ME". They never appoligized, but the Att. Generals office made them drop the $360. fee plus retained the complaint against Dir. TV. because their has been so many complaints about their service & billing process. I think Dir. TV must secretly be owned be Bernie Madoff...Go to Dish Network, great service, reception & price. Even the Dir. TV service Techs told me Dir TV will kiss your A@@ to get you to committ to 2 year contract but after that, they could care less about the customer. STAY AWAY FROM DIRECT TV.......They are a pack of thieves. read more
