I'm updating my rating from 4 down to 3. Within the last six months they had two major (day-long, system-wide across the Tucson region they cover, including Rio Rico/Nogales) internet outages (which also means VOIP phone outages), the most recent being the other day. These outages had consequences I'm sure not only for myself but other users. When they had the first one, I think one of their executives made the response, which I thought was incorrect, in one of their forums that they could not use redundancy in that case to address the outage because the fibers and such upon which the main service depended (and which had been damaged by a construction crew I guess in the Phoenix area) were also the same fibers and such upon which their redundancy depended. Could they not arrange for redundancy that did not depend on the same exact Phoenix-area point? The second outage, several months later, was down to the same issue (construction crew in Phoenix area) and the same (incorrect in my opinion) reasoning on redundancy..... they did not succeed in improving their redundancy from the first incident to the second. So, I am reducing from 4 to 3. Now, a few moderating points: - I have heard that they are working toward addressing their redundancy issue. - It's temporarily a shame, but let's hope they respond by improving. Over the last few years (other than these two damaging outages) they have improved other things nicely, including increasing my speeds, lowering my cost and changing the mountaintop that I was pointed to. My service was by no means perfect, but I think they have spent money to improve and I respect this, and they did improve. I committed to them for voip a few months ago, which I would not have done if they had not established with me that they were providing a high number of 9s of reliability. So, if they can get back on track, and think ahead a bit better, then I may regain a higher view of them. - It's a bad moment for this to happen since so many people seem to be now giving a try to Starlink. Without these two really bad outages, I would have said that Bluespan is approximately competitive with what I hear about Starlink. So, if they re-position themselves to make such outages much less common, then I'd say at that time they will be more competitive. read more

Internet has been out since 8/9ish this morning, and they have continuously pushed back the ERT. Just say you don't know when it will be fixed instead of giving unreliable times. Average service and poor customer service. For example, they had an outage that lasted about 24 hours. The customer service number was out of service, and the other one only offered a recorded message and no ability to leave a message. They still haven't responded to my email or text messages. During the lengthy outage, no communication with customers. I don't recommend Bluespan and will look for alternatives for myself read more

Wow almost 10 years of service from BLUESPAN. They recently upgraded to gigabit speeds. Their plans are perfect because they GUARANTEE their speeds, not UPTO a speed. They work hard to get the speed they promised. It involves a roof antenna for cellular service. They have military discounts, ask about others. They have phone services as well. Don't do satellite because of the latency impacts on calls and games. For stable internet with promised speeds, you cannot go wrong with Bluespan. They use top of the line equipment and include wireless routers. You can change plans. Truthfully, I have had had a few outages usually during weather events, but it is about the same or better than other providers. Check them out, especially for rural internet service in Tucson. read more

Bluespan has failed on multiple levels today. Ok hardware failures happen and I've been mostly sympathetic to them. But that is mainly because I could call and get a human being on the line to give me a summary of the issue and the estimated down time. People can PLAN when they have information. In this day of information/communication, there is no excuse not give info for people to plan around. This info could easily be placed on the automated answering service or website and updated often there. Instead I had to dig around using my phone and eventually found some info here. I understand that the issue today is widespread, but today's communication is hard to excuse. read more

When the service goes down it goes down for many hour. Today it has been down for 16 hours. They don't update us on their site or on Facebook or anything. Let us know something, like is a tower down or what and give an estimated fix time at least. Otherwise the service does okay but when it goes down it goes down for a day or two. read more

Bluespan is terrible. It positions itself as the only good Internet option in rural areas, but the plot twist: it's not good, either! Here's why: *Bad customer service* -Sales gives a hard sell and makes promises of great service, then the company bros post churlish and snarky responses to customers -The CEO sends random unwanted political emails to their entire customer base - ?? -They tell customers things that are contradicted on their own website -The support line is generally unhelpful during outages *Bad Internet service* -Anytime there's a light to moderate rain, the signal fades out, despite what they tell customers -Random outages have always been an issue, but increased in frequency to about once a week during work hours in the past few months, and usually you have to wait on hold for the one person that they have doing support to tell you it's a known issue -It's out again as of 8:30 this morning (Tuesday 10/22) and they have an automated message saying there's a "known issue affecting some customers." There are 25 people waiting on hold for a (highly optimistic) estimated hold time of 30 minutes. No thanks! *Generally childish responses to valid customer concerns* -Just look at the reviews on here that they don't like. Bluespan's service might be as great as they say it is - and worth $80+ a month with a contract - if it were 1994, but it is unacceptable in 2024. If you work from home and value your time, give Bluespan a miss. They are unprofessional, unsatisfactory, and need to grow up as a company - in many ways. read more

I used to manage a small local ISP in Southern California with 300K active accounts, so opinions expressed are experience-based. Extended outage -- over 24 hours -- in September. No proactive messaging. The three times I did stay on hold for over an hour and get someone, I got three different stories about what happened and when it would be up. When they finally did post something on Facebook, it was demonstrably incorrect. Inexcusable for an ISP to behave this way. They are 5 star when they work, but if there's a problem you get 1990s tech customer service at best. ISP Customer Service 101: ------------------------------------ 1. Frequent Proactive Status Updates on all Channels; website, twitter, Facebook, email. 2. ETA for resolution. If not ETA for resolution, ETA for next update. 3. Repeat 1 and 2 until resolved. Finally, it was the owner's responses to the reviews here on Yelp that finally got me sufficiently motivated to switch -- no way this guy is getting another penny out of me. While many customers didn't have any other choices. There are other choices now. T-Mobile is giving me 20x-40x the bandwidth for less than 1/2 of what I was paying. No contract. Summary: 1. Good service if you can't get anything else. 2. Until it isn't. 3. Then it's really, really bad. 4. Owner knows he has a captive audience and behaves accordingly. 5. Explore your options read more

I have had BlueSpan for almost 3 years now and even with Monsoon season I never lost service. There is 3 working adults in the home and we all use the service. Bluespan is a great service. Yes it is fast, yes it works in locations that the usual suspects don't service, but just as important is their customer service and tech support. Anytime I have a technical issue their tech support is easy to contact (USA based tech support, imagine that!) The owner of the company has always been available to guide me through service upgrades or questions. They went over and above troubleshooting issues with my wife's work VPN/VOIP. I've had there service for 3 months and every storm my internet goes down also somehow they can not send me a bill before they charge me. If they didn't force you to have a contract I doubt many customers would keep service for very long. read more

I've been moved tower to tower, and offered faster speeds to fix the already laggy internet connection. Today, March 15th, the service is completely down and the line to call customer care is unavailable. If not for being locked into this contract, I would just use my phone's hotspot until Starlink comes around. I had high hopes for this company being that they're the only company that provides service in my area. But instead of sending the techs out to fix the original issue I was having (consistent slow speeds on sunny days 3-4MB down when I'm paying for 10) they just created another issue ( still slow speeds on clear days, now laggy connection of upwards of 200-300 ping and now disconnected from network). I would not recommend anyone get locked into a contract when the service techs don't solve issues. I just find it laughable that the solution recommended to me was to upgrade to their more expensive plan to solve latency issue. read more

8 years ago Bluespan started off great. They promptly responded to emails back then. I used to get the speed I paid for. Now they over sell their bandwidth and no longer care to return emails. Wow. I got so fed up with Cox I decided to look elsewhere. I live in the heart of the city, so Bluespan was not a necessity like it is for some of those living on the outer edges of town. I went in to talk and find out what it was all about. The first thing they asked was what I currently have and why I was changing. No hard sale, just information exchange. I told them about my the poor customer service, the always increasing changes to my bill, and the fluctuating bandwidth with Cox. Sure Cox was great in 2 in the morning, but when I get off work, it was considerably less. I was paying for premium rate and it didn't seem so premium to me. After listening to my rant about Cox, he gave me the good news and the bad news. The good news was that the customer service was great. They are locally run business not some mega corporate headquartered in some other state and customer service outsourced to a foreign country. The bad was that they would not be able to exceed the advertised bandwidth of Cox. But on the plus side, the bandwidth would be consistent. If I found that I wanted a higher bandwidth, it was a simple phone call and they could subscribe me to a higher level of service. I scheduled and appointment 2 weeks later (they had sooner appointments but this fit better with my schedule). The service technician was very friendly and professional. He got it up and running pretty quick. I am loving the service. I got the second level service and it was only about $5 more than what I was charged by Cox. But the bandwidth improvement is noticeably better. They may not have the top speed advertised by Cox, but the actual performance is much better. Bluespan also guarantees you get the rate you pay for not an 'up to rate' like Cox does. If you live where cable is not available or you are fed up with the cable lack of service you have to check out Bluespan. I am delighted with their service. read more

Bluespan Wireless internet is TERRIBLE!! STAY AWAY!! We rented a place east of town (85749) in Pima County. Started service in the end of Dec 2020. Almost immediately started having download speed issues. Had LOTS of trouble tickets turned in and LOTS of long phone calls trying to get it fixed. Nothing seemed to work. Was given a $20 credit one month (Feb) but what a joke that was. When it costs ~$200 setup fees and $99.99 per month for their "guaranteed" 15-2 Residential service, it gets extremely frustrating to deal with crappy service. Using the Speedtest App on my phone, the month of March showed only twice out of the randomly timed 20 saved screenshots actually met the 15-2 "Guarantee". Saved data shows the following for download Mbps - Hi: 15.4; Lo: 0.86, Average: 8.942. The numbers for upload Mbps - Hi: 2.35; Lo: 0.83, Average: 2.074. When we got a chance to move into a rental in town, we took it. When I wrote/called to cancel with Bluespan, all I got was: "you are under contract" and "page 8 has wording that says we are not responsible for not meeting the 15-2 contract". It cost me $699 to get away from their terrible service and absolutely NO GOOD guarantee. Moral of the story is that Bluespan Internet is a very bad, non-customer focused provider. Do not use them. Very disappointed. We are having an all-day outage, now going into the 11th hour. Their phones are off the hook -- no one's answering. Twitter hasn't been updated since 2017. Facebook says that we should be back on line in 1-2 hours. That was posted more than 2hours ago. No info. No updates no nothing. And no one answering the phones. Not even a recording. I've been a customer for many years. I've even recommended them to neighbors who have also signed up. I came here to notify anyone and everyone that these 1 star reviews are not lies. I live with my brother Nick Kilmer and in a since that makes me a customer of Bluespan in fact anyone who has had to experience the service they provide is a customer whether they pay for it or not. But what I can say is that I have witnessed my brother call them multiple times and get no resolution to the problem. I was here the day the tech came out and his exact word were " it's something on our end I can't fix it ". I use the internet for video games and it would take hours to do updates and it was absolutely horrible. But for a company to not provide what was promised and then steal money out of their bank account is uncalled for. And they only offerd help after Nick had got a new service provider why would he want help after asking for it the last few months and not receiving it. I started service with Bluespan in July 2020. There were no options other than Bluespan where we lived, so we went with them. We paid the crazy $200 setup fee and then started our service. We had issues immediately. I have to work from home during the pandemic, and I was constantly being dropped from zoom calls. I became a joke with my colleagues because it happened every single day, making it extremely difficult to have productive calls with my coworkers and clients. It was unacceptable and unprofessional. And this doesn't even describe the frustration as I tried to get work done aside from the calls, and as my husband and I tried to accomplish other personal tasks. I called Bluespan's support team repeatedly. I often had to wait on hold for lengthy wait times, but this was the only option to try to seek any resolution. Sometimes they had a fix that seemed to help for a few hours or a few days at best, but other times it didn't seem to help at all. Bluespan indicated that their support team is available to provide assistance, and I should have called more if I was having so many issues. I indicated to the support teams every time that these were ongoing, daily problems. And like another reviewer, I would have been calling nearly every day. Is that seriously their best solution? Oh! And don't let me forget about the times when the internet was out for multiple days straight. That happened twice during our 4 months of service with Bluespan. What on earth were we paying for? Ultimately, we decided we needed to move. Bluespan was our only option for service and it just literally wasn't working. I assumed that since we were completely uprooting our lives because Bluespan service was so subpar, that they would waive the remaining amount of our contract. I was so wrong. Shortly after cancelling service, we got hit with a $500 charge to finish out our 1 year contract. I called and explained this was crazy - we cancelled because the service had never worked well, and now we were having to pay for the poor service that we wouldn't even have the opportunity to use? The person I spoke with the first time I called said the CEO would call me to discuss, but I never heard back. The person I spoke with the second time, just repeatedly said I should have called the support team for assistance (which I did, and which never resulted in a long term solution). He also pointed to the credit they applied last month when I called and complained and complained. That credit was $30, which is just laughable. So just to sum this up from a financial standpoint - we received unacceptably poor service for about 4 months. For that 4 months of awful service we paid: $200 setup fee, $60/month * 4 months, -$30 credit for poor internet!, $480 fee to fulfill the contract = $890. Wow... I will also note that this was not only our experience. Our neighbor, a teacher, has been forced to potentially expose herself to Covid every day since the pandemic started. She has the option to teach from home, but their Bluespan internet is so poor that she worries she will lose her job if she tries to stay home and teach over zoom, so she continues to go to the school to teach every day. BUYER BEWARE!! Poor Customer Service and Installation!! VERY DISAPPOINTING! Here is a quick review on Bluespan and how they treat their customers: Fair internet with unprofessional installation at $199 install fee. I had this installed on my parents RV and they just left 30 feet of wire hanging off the side. Not Professional at all. They did not even setup the router and when asked they said they do not know how. (Which makes no sense) It took me over 3 hours to setup everything and the techs would not do it!! I have reached out to Customer Service numerous times and after a month of no response they choose to just ignored their customers. I am writing to complain about BlueSpan Wireless, LLC as well as the conduct of the CEO Scott Stace. My wife and I are in our 70's and are retired. Two years ago, we reluctantly signed a three-year contract for internet services with BlueSpan because there were limited to no options in our area. We have received subpar internet service that has been slow ever since. Over the past two years, I have reached out numerous times to tech support to have the internet speeds and reliability improved, all to no avail. I've been told by the tech onsite that the speed we received was the maximum. I've also been told that they can increase our speed to an adequate rate for more money. $105.00 per month that barely will allow basic services isn't enough money? As a result of inadequate internet service, I recently respectively reached out to the CEO to mutually agree to change the term of my contract (as permitted by a provision in the contract) to end the contract a year early. Rather than respond to my request, my internet was cut off and I was charged nearly $1200 for a year of internet service I will not receive. When I spoke with a manager, Lisa, about why my internet was cut off without my express consent and why an unauthorized charge was made to my account, she told me the internet was cut off and the charge was authorized by BlueSpan's CEO, Scott Stace, so there was nothing she could do. BlueSpan conveys to customers on its website that "if you don't love it...or if the quality doesn't live up to our guarantees, you can cancel at any time." This is not true and has not been my experience. The internet service is inadequate and if you try to end the relationship with them on equitable terms, they will charge you for services you will not receive. This conduct is clearly endorsed by the head of the company as he cut off my internet and ordered the unauthorized charge to my account. This is a high speed internet company that is serving a niche market of Tucson homes in the foothills, valleys, the rural areas in 85745 and in the unincorporated areas of Pima County. Bluespan has a new type of internet service that's faster and more reliable. They offer better upload and download speeds than their competitors. They are servicing a great number of people now and putting things in place for future growth so that they can take on more business. I only found out about them because Simply Bits is turning away new customers and HughesNet can't offer any decent speeds. One of my friends that lives in 85719 uses Bluespan and told me about them and their service is great. If you're working from home or doing zoom with work or kids in school, VOip, this is your solution at getting high speed internet providers service in Tucson. Glad I found them!! read more

Some of the worst internet you will find around all while the managers will blame your hardware. Pay for 50 mbps? more like 5 on a good day and that is only if they aren't 'upgrading' or doing some other bullshi**ery that is 'improving the network'. Shame on this company for advertising anything above 10 mbps they obviously can't deliver anything else. Can't wait for 'Chris/Scott' to come in and tell me I am either not a customer or my 'microwave antenna' isn't good enough for their abyssmal service. I wanted to use a local provider for my internet service, and I chose Bluespan. I was told that because I did not have my own router, there would be a $200 installation fee, but they were going to split that into three installments for me, and then the service was going to be $59/month. After their installation, they tried to say that there was an additional fee of $200 ($400 INSTALLATION!!?) for the router, denied discussing the costs with me prior, and tried to take the new amount out of my bank account without my prior consent. A $200 installation was more than any of their other competitors, but they were referred to me by a neighbor, and described as "reliable" ...however, a $400 installation cost does not even come close to any of their other competitors, and cannot be justified. After several phone-tag attempts, and several emails, where one email from the service provider does admit that the router expense is not on the contract, I became very discouraged and asked them to cancel services. They made me wait over a week for installation in the first place, and then when I canceled services, they were out in less than 24 hours to remove their $400 worth of hardware. I will tell everyone I know what happened in dealing with Bluespan, I think they lied to me about the upfront costs, hoping to negotiate a payment plan for the amount after the fact. I get what I am paying for. On those few instances where the service has had trouble, they have been responsive and gotten it fixed quickly. Installation was prompt, efficient, and professional. Cell phone companies (e.g. T-Mobile, AT&T, Verizon) are beginning to offer 5G internet service in areas of Tucson where Bluespan previously was the only ISP. I recently cancelled my Bluespan service and installed T-Mobile service. T-Mobile speeds at my home are 80-300 Mb/sec for $50/month compared to Bluespan's service rates of $80-120/month for 10-20 Mb/sec. Watch out for significant cancellation fees if you haven't had Bluespan for the minimum contract length (mine was 12 months). read more

Consistently poor ISP. Even after I bought a new router and a new laptop and TV. Slow speed, laggy download speed. Yes march 15 no service for several hours. When I complained to their customer no service I told them to mail me a paper copy of my expensive contract. The said they don't do that but will email me a copy. They never did. If you thought Cox was bad and expensive for poor service, these guys are far worse in terms of what you pay for versus what you get. I am on the east side of town. I have been a customer for five years and have been very happy with Blue Span and have saved a couple thousand dollars compared to cox! Over the weekend my internet was off and on. I called them on Monday, they trouble shot it from their office and discovered a bad connection. They sent Fausto over within a few hours. He discovered a frayed wire outside. He ran 50 feet of new cable from the dish to the computer and had me back on line. Try getting that done with XYZ big company! Fausto was quite personable, very professional and knew what he was doing!! He is an asset to Blue Span!! read more

We consistently are getting the service we pay for and, when a weather related problem has occurred, the repairs were done the same day.
