I came here for dinner with friends on a weeknight in July and it was a great first experience! While this restaurant isn't affiliated with it's very famous US counterpart with a similar name, it's still a great option if you're in the area. We got a few dishes to try and shared amongst us. We got: The Stir Fried String Beans Hot & Sour Soup Spicy Wontons Dan Dan Noodles Overall for the 3 of us, the bill came out to be roughly $50pp which was pretty reasonable considering how much food we got.

Din tai fung dupe. They sell lots of different dishes. We got the mini soup dumplings, big soup dumplings, crispy dumplings, shanghai noodles with pork. All were decently good. The black sesame bun is an interesting dessert. The restaurant is quite big and lots of seating. Very rare to have a waitlist but can see this place having a waitlist for lunch on weekends or holidays. Service was fast and friendly. May be hard to find parking if it's really busy but you will find it!

Happy Chinese New Year and Year of the Dragon. I celebrated New years with my family. This restaurant has locations all over the globe. I've seen one inside the Aria in Las Vegas. Our favorite items here are the fresh soup filled dumplings, pan-fried dumplings, green onion pancakes, Shanghai noodles, braised beef rolled pancake, Siu mai with shrimp. The dining room is spacious, modern, and comfortable. It's much better than the First Markham place location. You order your food with a checklist order card, and the items are categorized and listed numerically. If you're new to Northern Chinese dimsum, then definitely try this restaurant out as they serve up fresh dumplings and portions are generous.

Steamed crab meat & pork soup dumpling. Hot & juicy. Perfect match with ginger & red vinegar!

It's a great restaurant for delicious Shanghai dimsum as well as dinner dishes. It's our first time trying their Scarborough branch. We had a very enjoyable meal there. We had the following for two people: - Steamed crab meat & pork soup dumplings(蟹粉小籠包) - Steamed shrimp & pork siu mai - Braised bean curd roll - Braised sliced bran w/ mushroom, edamame & carrot - Red bean soufflé All items were beautifully made. Among all, the crab meat soup dumplings were the best. Authentic dumplings with hot soup inside. They ain't regular dumplings. It was so juicy, so flavorful, and so satisfying. Perhaps, it is the most perfect single bite of food ever conceived by human! DO NOT tell people you have visited there if you didn't order this one. LOL. The dumpling skin was thin. Pick them up very gently with chopsticks and let them burst open in your mouth, not the bowl! Don't forget to eat with ginger and red vinegar. Perfect match. The red bean soufflé was another highlight. The fluffy texture gave a fine dessert sensation with the light sweetness from the red bean paste. Top up with a decent amount of icing sugar. Freshly baked. Flawlessly executed. Very good service. The waitress timed the pace properly for us. Cold appetizers came first. And the hot items came one after another just that we finished the previous ones. All items were made to order. Hot & juicy. A very delicate approach. Simply fantastic! The ambiance was also good. Nice décor. A great place to impress your friends and families in a great way. 10% discount with cash. Lots of parking spaces. Absolutely awesome. Fellow Yelpers, recommended.

I'm very very very surprised about this restaurant. I did not have any anticipation at all for this restaurant. I am from Taiwan. This restaurant's name, Ding Tai Fung, apparently rips off the famous, michelin-star restaurant Din Tai Fung and the Chinese name is exactly the same. I even dispised it because how can a pirate brand makes good dishes? However, I was surprised at the moment stepping into the restaurant. It was very nice, modern and clean. I felt comfortable. The dishes we ordered were really tasty especially the xiaolunbao. I think I might be too harsh at it. I should reflect that the concept of intellectual property was not solid in the past especially in Asia. Nobody really cared about the brand names and just immitated each other. I think the owner might just used the name because...who would know in Markham, Ontario, Canada, there's a restaurant using a brand name that was only famous in a small island, Taiwan? I think if a restaurant can cook good meals, and provide higih quality and delicious dishes to customers, it is a successful business and should be encouraged. About the ripping off? That's court s and judges' business.

One of the cleanest Dim Sum restaurants I've been to! Staff were constantly cleaning and very attentive. This was a different experience as I'm used to the food being on push carts. At this place, you look at a menu and tally it on a piece of paper. The soup dumplings were juicy and hot. The fried rice was enjoyable and not dry at all. Overall, this place has such a great vibe!

Family friendly, good eats, huge variety. Family friendly: 5/5 We were offered a booster seat for my 3yo because she's quite big/tall for her age, but since she wiggles quite a bit, I asked for a highchair instead. I also appreciated the separate, non-breakable bowls and utensils for her, very thoughtful! Menu and ordering: 4.5/5 It's quite a task to order if you can't read Chinese! The ordering slip is all in Chinese, but fortunately it's numbered the same as the menu which does have English. The hardest part is differentiating some of the dumplings, which isn't as obvious or translated consistently in English. Food: 5/5 Everything tasted great! Food also came out really quick considering we got there around 2pm and the staff were winding down for break. Service: 4.5/5 Up until near the end, all the servers were fantastic. There was only 1 server left when we were ready to pack up and pay, everyone else presumably on break, and she didn't have any smile or say anything to us the entire time getting the bill and takeout boxes for our remaining items.

Xiao Long Bao - $10 for 6 pieces Really juicy and thin skin. Served with red vinegar and ginger. Highly recommend this dish.

Ding Tai Fung is always a 5-star experience! Their high quality Shanghainese dim sum (and Taiwanese style dishes) are consistently good. TAKEOUT Fantastic takeout food to bring home for the family. They package it so well for takeout that it looks equally as appealing at home as it does in the restaurant - and it's equally delicious too! My usual order would be either a hot & sour soup, or beef noodle soup, but I opted for something different for a change - pan fried pork buns and other menu items. The pan fried pork buns (not pictured) are a popular Chinese street snack. Different variations of the dish will be made differently. They were tasty and surprisingly quite juicy on the inside and fluffy on the outside. The menu items that weren't devoured before taking a photo: * Steamed soup dumplings with pork (Xiao Long Bao) are a favourite. They earn bonus points for a thin skin and juicy filling. * Vegetarian dumplings are another favourite * Green onion pancake was flaky and delicious * Savoury hot soy milk is my vice and it's a good one * Deep fried dough stick is good to dip into the hot soy milk, like dunking cookies into milk! Other notable family favourites are the fried Shanghai style noodles with shredded pork, pan fried pork-chive pockets, pan fried rice cake, deep fried squid, Dan Dan noodles, silver rolls, spicy wontons and their dessert mango pudding.

Food was delivered timely and servers were attentive. Food was good, although it is a little pricier and with smaller portions than other family style Chinese restaurants.

Food is good for the price. They mainly specialize in Xiao Long Bros and baozi. It's a nice place if you need some comfort food. The fried chicken cutlet and beef noodles are ok. Not too bad. Not super awesome either. It's good if you need something to fill you up. Would go back for the Xiao long bao.

    SOOO YUMMY!!!

This is my second time visiting Ding Tai Fung. The first time, I went to the FMP (Markham) location. This time around, ordered the steamed dumplings with pork and chives... as well as this beef cabbage soup which was delicious. The restaurant at this scarborough location was much bigger than the one in Markham. Looks like a cross between congee queen and a fancy chinese banquet. Overall the two items ordered hit the spot. Can't wait to try more items, including their noodle soups and other dumpling items.

The posters outside caught my eye, and I decided to come back with a group of three friends to try it out. We came a bit late around 8 PM, and most of the fish were already sold out except the original. We ended up ordering the Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($40), a whole fish served bubbling hot with three toppings (potatoes, spam, and lotus root). You can choose between catfish and turbot, we chose the turbot fish. It looked extremely spicy, but the spice level was actually perfect. It was a bit on the oily side, but pairing it with rice balanced it out nicely. The fish was very tender and buttery, everything tasted amazing! We also ordered the Stir-Fried Egg with Tomato. The eggs were soft, the tomato sauce was rich. Not to mention the portion size was huge, we even had leftovers after eating until we were full. The restaurant itself was spacious, clean, and had plenty of seating. I think they were doing some sort of promotion so they gave us a $25 off coupon, though it expired pretty quickly so we didn't get to use it. I'd definitely come back for that grilled fish.

This is a new Chinese restaurant featuring Hunan and Szechuan cuisine. The spicy dishes emphasize…read morespiciness, not numbness. A few of their dishes come out on a sizzling plate with flames underneath. They are still in soft-opening mode with several specials. You can see the menus via a QR code. The Hunan cuisine is listed as "Hunan Noodles" and the Szechuan cuisine is listed as "Chopfire Menu". The Szechuan dishes are listed with 1 to 3 chilies representing the spiciness. If you can't handle spicy, then avoid eating the chili pieces and you might "survive". The restaurant decided to minimize their food offerings so that they can focus on refining their dishes in terms of quality and taste, including from customer feedback. We ordered the following: 1. Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish ($39.95). 2. Home Stir Fried Beef ($21.95). 3. Bullfrog with Baby Ginger ($19.95). 4. Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork ($15.95). 5. Drunk Oolong (charcoal roasted oolong tea base) x 2 ($5.95 x 2). 6. Lemon Taro Balls ($7.95). We also saw the following: 7. Stir-Fried Sliced Pork with Green Pepper Noodle Soup ($9.99). First 10 customers each day, only pays $1.00. 8. Ink Painting Cocktail ($5.95). The Signature Spicy Grilled BBQ Fish came out on a huge sizzling platter. The BBQ Fish, a Turbot Fish, was very fresh and flaky, easily coming off the bone. There is no head attached like at typical Chinese restaurants but it would not have fit in the platter. The platter had a delicious sauce (soupy consistency and not sweet), luncheon meat slices, lotus root slices, and two other vegetables, along with chili pieces. The entire dish tasted great together with the various flavours. The menu listed it as 2-chili spicy but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Home Stir Fried Beef is tender. It is listed as 3-chili but I could handle it by avoiding the chili pieces. The Bullfrog with Baby Ginger has the bullfrog cut up in little pieces; no you don't see a whole frog! The meat was actually good but most pieces have bones in it, so it takes time to eat it carefully. There was ginger slices in it but it, but we thought the slices were quite large! The Stir-Fried Cauliflower with Preserved Pork was very delicious! It came in a sizzling plate. The Cauliflower was flavourful and was not crunchy and not too soft. I've never had preserved pork slices before; it was quite good, not as salty as Chinese preserved vegetables. The Drunk Oolong has comes in a small bowl a with gin and ice. On the side, they include pieces of the charcoal roasted oolong tea leaves so you can smell it; quite a good smell indeed. You can also order it without the gin, which is what I ordered for mine (since I don't drink alcohol). It was such a nice drink! The Lemon Taro Balls dessert was pretty. In the centre was a slice of lemon. The customer service was good. There is plenty of indoor table and counter seating, including a small private room at the back. There is also an outdoor patio during warmer weather. There is pop music playing in the background. There is no free WiFi. The restaurant is wheelchair accessible, but there is no door-open button. There are two gender-neutral washrooms downstairs, so they are not wheelchair accessible. There is paid neighbourhood street parking. Review 2025-026
