I went to the Dillards to get some nice sweaters for my son's. I also found some beautiful puffy windbreaker type jackets. Then for me, I got a beautiful Ralph Lauren cape. This store is classy and beautiful. They have two Dillards in the small one for women and one for men and children. The customer service is exceptional. The products are exceptional. One can find Ralph Lauren, or even UGG here. One can get fine perfumes and colognes here. This story is expensive but worth it. Walked around the store and found that the racks were everywhere and the store is just massive. Literally was losing where I had already looked and where I haven't been yet. Just looking for a new outfit. Or a dress, really just seeing what speaks to me. I did try on a few outfits, but they were not that flattering on. Unless I love it, I'm not going to buy it. I visited this store in search of a party dress. I was informed that different sections would have their own items. This was very helpful information. It was easy to walk around the different brand's sections and find the dresses (or lack of). It was quite a challenge though because so many of the styles out now are too casual for what I am looking for. I did find a gem, however, and it was in my size, so my visit was a success. read more

Dill or no dill? That is the question. If you're talking about Cedar Park, then the answer is Dill, because they have a great department store known colloquially as Dillard's, and here it is. This is The Dillards located at the mall in Cedar Park in the northwest suburbs of Austin, the Lakeline to be exact. It's a pretty fancy department store, and probably Barbi appreciates that about it. I wouldn't say that it's my favourite by any stretch of the imagination, or hers, but pricing in here isn't the worst, not the best, I'd say it's perfectly adequate. read more

Then went to the men's department, different location because the store is split between men and women's. The sales lady was very cold, no sales courtesy. She asked if I wanted a gift receipt then forgot to print it out. She seemed very upset or bothered. Maybe because it was Christmas Eve and she didn't want to be there. This year, on Christmas Eve, I went into the store looking for last minute stocking stuffers. I decided I wanted to get some perfumes/colognes for my family. I was with my mother and we walked straight to the Fragrance counter. Keep in mind it was not late and it was not busy at all. There was a sales associate who was standing at the perfumes (Miss Dior display more specifically) who appeared to be waiting on a customer to walk up so she could help them. This was not the case. While me and my mother met her with a smile, ready to make a purchase, we were not met with the same. I asked the sales associate if I could smell the Miss Dior and she told me (very dry) "you see that counter over there, she can probably help you better", and she walked a little further down her counter. I then said "excuse me, can I smell the J'adore then since you have it behind the counter?" She sprayed the tester strip and proceeded to call another associate over to ask about the Miss Dior to smell the shower gel that was on display. (I was quite a bit confused in her question because I did not ask about the gel or what scent it was, I asked if there was a perfume for it) The lady walked up and said "yes that is Miss Dior" and walked away. To be honest she appeared confused by the question as well. The sales associate walked away, leaving us unattended. My mom made a comment to me "I have come in to a store and dropped hundreds on perfumes for gifts" the sales associate said (out of no where, since she had walked away) responded "oh really, when". At that moment it was pretty clear where the conversation was going. I smiled and told my mom let's just go. We walked to the car and I told her "you know what, no, I need to know this ladies name because their corporate office needs to know about this so that no other person has to be subject to this". When we walked back in, (within a 5 minute time frame since I was parked right in front of the store) she was leaned over the counter, and helping a male customer. I stood patiently with my wallet in hand. She finished with him, and rolled her eyes, looked at me and said "did she not help you?" I said no, and she attempted to get another sales rep to help me, I said "No ma'am, I would like to know your name. I am embarrassed by the way I was treated and you just keep pushing me and my mother off." She gave me her name and I told her thank you. She then said (after I explained that I was going to call the corporate office to inform them of her behavior) "I am sorry if you feel I didn't help you" I responded, "well you didn't help us. You continued to push us off to someone else and made the comment back to my mother as if you were shocked and didn't believe we had the money to make a purchase. I specifically came in for several fragrances and now you are out on your sale." I told her that I hoped she would have a great Christmas and walked away. In short, please don't judge a book by the cover. I am an African American woman, who would not have walked into the store on Christmas Eve to waste time. read more

I have been shopping at Dillards for most all of my clothes for over 20 years and I have spent thousands of dollars during that time. I just spent $444.14 on May 27, 2024. On Thursday July 18th the button popped off on a pair of capris jeans that I just bought. I had the receipt so I travelled to a local Dillards store and tried replacing or returning them. The customer service representative kept informing me that they could not accept the defective jeans because I did not have the original tags, they had been worn and washed. I did not accept that so she contacted a manager to speak with me. The manager basically stated the same information. I kept explaining to the manager that I would not be returning the jeans if the button did not pop off in less than 2 months of owning them. It did not matter. She recommended I contact the manufacturer but I should not have to do that. They should stand behind the products that they buy to sell to consumers. Especially since they are very expensive! So, I need everyone that reads this to really think about Dillards return policy, 1. They give you 30 days to return the item. 2. If within that 30 days you threw away the tags, worn or washed the item you cannot return that item. 3. EVEN if the item is defective, not due to your negligence just the item being defective, they still will not accept the return if the item does not have the tags, has been worn or washed. I did not cause the button to pop off, I was just buttoning up the jeans. I planned on keeping the jeans, I was forced to return them because the button could not be put back on. All I wanted was a replacement. I will NEVER EVER shop at any Dillards stores anywhere!!!!!!!!!!!! Their return policy is set up for their benefit not the customers. HORRIBLE! HORRIBLE! The level of teamwork here is absolutely zero. And it's even more of a individual effort when it comes to the mens store and the womens store. As shorthanded as we are, you very rarely got a chance to see any one from the womens store come over and help. I have worked here for about two months and I have yet to get a formal introduction from the general manager here. " hey, my name is Hector I am the general manager here. Welcome aboard we're happy to have you. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out." Did not get that whatsoever. I would go home every night and talk with my wife and tell her how sorry I felt for Loretta because they throw all of this stuff at her and they don't offer any kind of help to her. The only time you seen any member of upper management is when the corporate guys are getting ready to walk into the store or something is wrong in the mens store. I have been told by three different members of management and one time by the camera guy that if someone steals something out of the store go chase after them. How professional is that? I even thought about putting my name in for management here, but I know that I would have a problem with the way things are being ran here. They would wait until saturday to put out the schedule starting sunday. Who functions like that?? Horrible customer service. My mother got me a pair of shoes for Christmas. She paid with her Dillards credit card. I needed to exchange for another size. I had the receipt. They did not have the size I needed in store. I was told that they needed to order it online. Welp, then they asked me how I wanted to pay the difference?! Same shoe should be the same price...right?! WRONG they told me because she used her charge card that now the price is different...and they could not honor the same price.... SCAM!!! Let me first say that I have been a Dillards customer for over 20 years. I went in today to return a $158 dress that I purchased along with 2 other dresses a little over a month ago. The dress has NEVER BEEN WORN and still had the tag attached along with the original receipt. There is nothing wrong with the dress, the fit was just a bit odd. The lady in customer service said because I was over the 30 days that I couldn't return it. Then she inspected the dress for any signs of wear. I get it...that's her job. There were no signs of wear because I have NEVER WORN THE DRESS. She then picks it up to smell it and proceeds to tell me that is has "smells"!! GURL WHAT ?!?!??? It's been in Dillards and this plastic bag. I have never been so insulted in my life!! No one has ever said such a thing to me IN MY LIFE. I take high offense to that comment. If you want to disqualify my return based on the over 30 day rule (which I knew nothing about) that's one thing but to stand in my face with that insulting comment is another. So if the dress has "smells", it's your store and the stupid plastic bag you gave it to me in. I will NOT EVER be back in this store. This is the 3rd time I've visited a Dillard's store. Being from Chicago, I shopped at Lord & Taylor, Bloomingdales, Nordstrom, and the now defunct Marshall Field's. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. The employees were friendly and welcoming. When I arrived at the MAC counter, I was greeted by two ladies who provided outstanding customer service. There really is just no department store like Dillard's! We stopped in to look at some shoes for my wife and they truly have just a cornucopia of styles and types! (Used that just for thanksgiving!) The sales lady was excellent... we must have gone through a dozen pairs or more, back and forth, until we settled on the ones in my check in! They are just ultra cool! The lady was very nice and let us take our time and never showed the least bit of annoyance at having to go back and pull yet another pair for my wife to try. You know I can say with confidence that all of my experiences at any Dillard's have generally been very good. From fragrance, to Mac makeup to women's clothing, children's clothing, and men's clothing to shoes... literally I always feel like I am a valued shopper and love the selection they offer! So disappointed. I called a couple days back to confirm they had the car seat I was looking for and Alka in the children's department assured me it was the correct one. A couple days later my husband called again, talked to the same employee and confirmed it was the right car seat. It was important since it was an hour drive. He gets there, low and behold it's the wrong seat. He was then offered the correct seat, but the floor model. Great. She comes back with the manager and then continued to take it back and say they can no longer sell us the floor model unless we buy the entire stroller system. For the BRAND NEW price!!!!! But offered it as if it was a deal as it was all the floor model. The manager on staff 5/25 didn't even try to resolve the issue or offer to help in anyway. This entire situation was so frustrating especially after the continuous confirmation and then no one on staff knew what was going on and didn't do anything to help. The place was closing in half an hour, when Mom and I decided to pop-in real quick to take a gander at the competition. I was more concerned with the reactions to my American Idol prediction that were coming on my Facebook. A Houston friend reminded me I had accurately chosen Lee DeWyze last year, and in the preliminaries at that. She's always said he owes me a sexual favor or two as a debt of gratitude for the karma I put out there, with a reach-around as interest for his year-long delinquency. I couldn't agree more, but I don't know how I'd go about collecting that debt. I bet it'd be fun though. Our first stop was the BCBG Max Azria section for Mom to show me outfits she thought were so cute, but were way too young for her. She was right. The dresses were cute, cuter than most of the stuff I've seen at Dillard's, but clearly out of her demo. The salesgal was perky and had a lot of positive vibes. It's interesting to note she technically is not part of the Dillard's staff, but reports directly to BCBG. I found this out when I went to inquire about a different size for a Buffalo coat that would be perfect for the future sister-in-law, and she told me she didn't have access to the system. She referred me to a different woman, who then said a third woman would help me. #3 looked at me like I was from another planet when I asked her to phone Barton Creek and see if they had a size small. It was either a "You want me to place a call?" look, or a "Honey, if you're trying to cross dress, at least get your size" look. While the jacket was unavailable, I did appreciate her checking. Upstairs in the ladies dresses, we found the same Diane Keaton dress (funnily enough, not on sale as it was at Macy's), and I encouraged Mom to just try the damn thing on to see if it even fit correctly. Yes, I realize it's not your style. Yes, I realize it won't "WOW" the room. Yes, I realize you'll never, ever in a million years ever wear it again after the wedding. Just do it for Chrissakes. She also couldn't resist grabbing a bejeweled light turquoise dress that was way more her speed. While she tried things on, I sat down outside the dressing room in a comfortable chair while reading a surprisingly current issue of Lucky magazine. In between perusing an article about Heidi Klum, the friendly Asian saleswoman asked me point blank: "Is that your mama?" When I responded 'Yes", she nearly fainted and said "Your mama is so beautiful! I would never have known! She looks so young!". I know. I mean look at me: she get it from her mama. Mom stepped out in the Diane Keaton suit to a barrage of compliments, most of which I'm sure was sending her ego into the stratosphere...but she wouldn't have it any other way. I ALSO get that from my mama. I thought it was really sweet, because the saleswoman wasn't doing the usual transparent ass-kissing routine, she really was genuinely nice. It was refreshing. Of course, Mom looked about as comfortable in that mother of the groom look as I would in Wranglers at a sober country-and-western line dancing class. When she put on the "fun" dress she was bouncing around and smiling, per usual. I can understand. It *was* way more her style, but just for S&G. Not a wedding. She asked if I wanted to do a double-check for some orange down in the men's. For a split second, we both forgot the boys got their own store on the other side of the mall (like, a long time ago). Anyways, I told her that except for our new fan in the dresses, it was clearly half-past-get-the-hell-out time for the rest of the store anyway. This is a solid Dillard's. Most of it's a blur to me, since the men's isn't around anymore. I do know the staff was nice this go around, and Mom still laments the loss of Royce, her makeup gay who has since left the company. Sadly, I don't think we're any closer to solving this wardrobe crisis. My continued involvement revolves around two things: 1.) How much merchandise I can be bribed with to continue my style-lackey duties; and 2.) If we get to go to stores I would have no chance in the world to Yelp otherwise. She said the store policy is they can only give me a $25. dollar credit for this expensive bag. I was appalled at how Dillards has the gall to steal from it's customers. Plus I could actually find employees to help me, unlike Macy's & Nordstrom . I bought a nice pair of dress shoes from a very sharp looking salesman who I'd like to introduce to my sons, 47, 45 & 31 so they could see how dressing with style & class looks on a young professional. Honestly, I've found this to be a solid establishment. Sure, there's a little pomp and prissy-ness here, but it can all be forgiven if I can actually find something that I like. And that does happen here at Dillards - as opposed to Macy's, Kohl's, JCPenney, and god forbid, Sears. The difference seems to be in 1) the quality of clothes 2) the variety of designers and 3) they seem to bring in more new things. I cannot tell you how many times I've gone into Macy's or Kohl's to find the same old crap that's been hanging around for nearly forever - what a waste of time. Additionally, on many occasions, there have been helpful employees around. Today, for example, we were greeted by employees three times but not pressured in any way. One older sales lady up in petites helped my Mom and I out considerably from interview attire ideas, to dressing room to purchase. I also enjoy going to the Lancome makeup counter where there's a very nice girl who is always helpful. Someone there sends out their thank you for signing up for their sales stuff at the Lancome counter and they have gorgeous handwriting, very chic. All in all, I have had mostly decent experiences here - four stars it is. read more

My friend and I went to Dillard's today to purchase Christmas ornaments. Our salesperson was named Stella. My friend is Hispanic and collects fine ornaments. She is also a cancer victim and it was obvious because she wore a scarf. Anyway, my friend picked up a Swarovski crystal ornament. Stella,the Dillard's employee, took the ornament out of my friend's hand immediately. I don't know if it was because she's Hispanic or because of our attire but we felt as though we were being judged by our skin color or by our looks. My friend spent almost $200 on her purchases. I wanted to purchase a comfy little couch but the tag was labeled wrong. I asked to see a manager and the associate told me no. So I went to find one. She was great and apologized and promised the store manager or corporate would be calling me within 48 hours. No problem right? Wrong! It has been 7 days. No call and no e-mail... apparently this has been a running issue with Dillard's that they mislabeled items. I understand mistakes happen but when the tag on the sofa days 899 with chaise that means with chaise. The associate told that just means you can purchase a chaise if you like but that will be 200 more than the displayed sofa with chaise and that they are just so very tired of corporate apparently mislabeled. So in other words they know there is an issue and they are frustrated having to constantly deal with misled customers. So no , no one will EVER call you back. I ended up purchasing a sofa and desk elsewhere and received excellent service. Just avoid Dillard's and their moody associates. What a disaster this store and their employees are!!! read more

Went to the children's shoes area today at 2:30. The guy working there tossed the shoe measure on the ground for my toddler to step on. Didn't come to us. Looked at trash on the ground and didn't pick it up. Didn't bend down to read the numbers or make sure his heel was all the way back. Gave sizing that "should" be correct. Came back with shoes and gave me the box then disappeared. The shoes didn't fit and he was gone. As we were leaving he came out and said nothing to us. I addressed him in a nice tone telling him he was not very helpful. He smirked at me. We left without buying the Stride Rite washable sneakers that we went into that store specifically to buy for when we go hiking and playing in dirt. We then went to Stride Rite in the mall. They kindly measured his feet, got down to floor level to make sure his foot was in the foot measure and talked to me about sizing even though they didn't have anything my son wanted due to low stock because their store is going out of business. read more
