Kind of a seedy area. This TJ Maxx is not quite as nice as some of the other ones I've been in, but we were still able to find some good deals on cookware. The cookware has always been nice and holds up great. I do like this store, but you have to walk around and rummage for the great deals and be careful as some stuff is damaged or broken. I think you can really get some nice stuff at a decent price. read more

THE GOOD: I love the location. I love the ample parking. I love love LOVE the selection of items here. I was able to FINALLY find a ***full sugar*** lavender syrup for my at home coffee creations here...while every other TJ Maxx and Marshall's only offers sugar free. This location is well stocked on items and has a nice size selection of clothes in my size. THE BAD: The people who work here hog too many of the shopping carts for their own personal use while there is a full store of patrons needing carts during busy hours. This is tacky and unprofessional and should be reported to corporate. Then they get an attitude when you rightfully ask for a cart when it's busy knowing good and well that THE CUSTOMERS ARE SUPPOSED TO HAVE THE CARTS...NOT YOU. And for sure NOT AS MANY as you all keep. You know how busy this location gets. Order more carts and release what you have to the public when you have shoppers in need. This is basic common sense that nobody should have to explain to you. Period. Anyway...I'm glad I found my full fat lavender syrups here. It almost makes up for the attitude of the staff. read more

First time to Austin, decided to shop here at TJ maxx. All of the sudden while waiting in line I hear a manger belittle her employee in front of customers. What kind of establishment is this when a manager openly talks down to an employee and mock her. I felt so embarrassed for the lady, may God bless her. She said that I was "young and naive" (I'm a full grown adult woman) and that I was "trying to make her feel bad" because I pointed out that it was funny they're asking for donations for a diabetes foundation while they're selling candies through the check out line... truly was just trying to make her laugh. I have been shopping here for years. I try to be careful with my money, so this is a great place for deals on last minute gifts and clothes. I would say most of employees are nice here, but there are a few that are very rude. In the past one of the employees was barreling through the aisle expecting customers to move out of her way. I just blew it off as that one employee having a bad day. So whatever! However, today I went in to return something that I just didn't need and already had a lot of at home. I got up to the counter where she was standing, gave her a welcoming smile, and placed my return item gently on the counter. She proceeded to bark at me,"Over there. I am not at this register". Cool, I guess I am expected to be a mind reader now. So I blew it off, really not sure why she was cranky already at 9:30 a.m. So I hand her my return, informed her that there wasn't anything wrong, and waited for her to patiently fix her face for my transaction. After she processed my return, she then said,"Put your card in here", and then tapped it with her hoof. No please or pleasantries. Anyway, finished the return and went shopping around to look for some make up. As I left, she still was scowling at other customers she was ringing up. Glad to know she didn't reserve her attitude for just me. Later on, I had to go back because I realized I needed a new blow dryer and luckily I was still in the area getting my hair done. Ms. Attitude was still there with her scowl, and luckily I didn't have to deal with her lack of personality. Would I go back, probably yes because I am cheap. But, if you shop at places for their customer service, you may want to go somewhere else. read more

I went in to return a coat I bought online. The older woman whose line I ended up in literally huffed and scolded me the entire time because I didn't bring the plastic bag it was wrapped in. Even though every tag was still on it and I brought the receipt. She told me, "Hmph! Well, good thing it says the name of the brand on the receipt, or I would have had to tell you to go home and get the bag!" Um, okay. The bag that went out in last week's trash. You were just going to unilaterally refuse to return a customer's $88 coat with tags and receipt. That's great customer service. Once she finally rings it up, she heaves a great sigh. "You paid with APPLE PAY?!" "Uh, I guess so. But I have the card it goes to right here." More harrumphing and heavy sighing as she has to consult a coworker, and in doing so, confuses Apple Pay with PayPal. The (harried but nicer) coworker apologizes and says they don't take PayPal returns here (which is stupid, but whatever). First lady is packing me off as fast as she can. I was basically expecting her to tell me maybe I should just lose a few pounds so I can fit into the coat better and not have to return it. Like, it seriously would not have surprised me. Anyway, I have to shout several times over to the nicer coworker that I didn't use PayPal, I used Apple Pay, and the nicer one was like, "oh, nbd, just put your card in the slot," and takes care of it. I get that retail is hell. I've had lots of crappy jobs and bad days. But (1) I was nothing but polite, despite my inner annoyance, (2) being a jerk to people isn't going to make your day better, and (3) if you really hate your job so much that you're blazingly rude to innocent customers, go find another one. It's a job seeker's market out there. You really have your pick. I had my young son with me, and actually had to have a talk with him afterwards about how much of a difference it can make to just be decent and polite to people, because then maybe we would have walked out of that store smiling and chatting instead of feeling chastised and put out. I guess I should be thankful for the great object lesson. But I won't be darkening the doors of this store again. read more

Was able to find a suitable dog bed for our pup at a great price. The cashier was pleasant enough but while she was completing our transaction another employee from across the store shouts out a question at her. This is a pet peeve of mine when someone interrupts a customer transaction without apologizing and/or acknowledging the customer. I understand staff needs to communicate but show some freakin discretion. Despite this odd experience there is an ample selection of items at decent prices. read more

Compared to some other TJ Maxx stores I've been to (I'm a FAN of a great bargain; especially the designer handbags and shoes you can find here) this location is OK. Slightly less inventory then I'm used to and the entire store was really messy, which makes digging for that perfect value find even more daunting than usual. Very friendly staff, but I'm a tad upset with them. They informed me during my visit yesterday that you can now shop TJ Maxx online. ;-O This could be a HUGE problem for me!!! Every time I go in this store they ask for donations for something. Today was autism donations, I politely declined, then she continued to press and say that the company was matching donations.. I politely declined again.. then she told me that I only had til Friday to donate... i said thanks and then she became very rude... I bought a delicate linen shirt and a bunch of hand soaps.. she bagged them together, I politely asked for them to be bagged separate. She asked me if I brought my own bags. I said no, nevermind. She kept insisting that I get another bag and I said no thank you.. she kept licking her fingers profusely before getting the bags and I told her that I felt that was not a good idea. She got super upset and said very sarcastically "I HOPE YOU HAVE AN AWESOME WEEK!" She never smiles and is super grumpy all the time. I'm wondering if she donates to all the random charities she asks customers to.. I love TJMaxx but I don't like this treatment or the yucky licked fingers. Come on lady. read more

I was hunting for a specific item so unfortunately I did not have the ability to leisure browse. Usually I profoundly dislike coming into TJ Maxx's because the store are a mess even outside of a holiday. Oh and the foods/cosmetics sections are usually 'tested' which is especially unsanitary during a pandemic. It's a step above a kennel. But a friend told me about this store and convinced me it was 'different'. I was very pleasantly surprised and wished I had more time. I was having so much fun looking in a nice clean and pleasant environment. Disappointed it's just so far away (the star off) I'm going to have to save this for 'special treats'. read more

I purchased socks, red KitchenAid utensils, and a Cynthia Rowley frame. The registers weren't covered all that well, but they usually are. Once again, don't ask how I know this.They now sell Betsey Johnson jewelry, Lindt dark chocolate at the checkout, and I've been stalking a Tumi luggage set. That is all I care to discuss. What a horribly embarrassing experience! Let me start out by sayin that I frequent this location and it seems as if the customer service has declined tremendously over the past year, but today was the last straw! I wrote a check for my purchase of $88.64. Not my normal practice, but my bank card had been compromised and I am awaiting my new one to arrive. Vowing to stay debt free from my credit cards, I wrote a check with proper ID. When I asked if they took checks , the cashier rolled her eyes and gave me a strange look after muttering a response. So I wrote away! At first I was told my check was declined. After checking my account balance I insisted that they run it again...Still declined! So, we tried a different register and I suggested typing my account number in instead of running it through the machine to the assistant manager that was called over. (as was suggested by my bank later on) Still declined. I then asked for a manager, at which time Ms. Potts comes to the register and made a half hearted attempt to run a different check from my check book. She then told me that my check had an invalid barcode and they could not except it! I just wrote a check at Randall's and Walmart in the past 2 days without a problem and I explain that to her! She was not interested! By this time I was completely mortified and felt as if I were being treated like a criminal! I reluctantly paid with a credit card and called my bank to be sure my checks were in good standing and they confirmed that everything about and on my checks were fine and that the cashier should have at least manually typed in my account number, but show no record of any attempt. They also said the error was clearly due to a malfunction with TJ Maxx's System. I then called the store to let Ms. Potts know that there was something wrong with their check reader. She simply said, "Not possible, we have not had a problem with it all day. The problem was that my check had an invalid bar code." I then suggested that she try to run one of her own checks through to be sure. She again told me that there has not been a problem with their machine all day! I asked her what happened when they typed my account number in. She then told me that they are not allowed to type the account number in manually. My question was, "Then why did the assistant manager try it?" Her response was that he just didn't know any better. Coming straight from the gym with my hair thrown in a ponytail and workout clothes on I realized what the REAL problem was! I was targeted and clearly discriminated against based upon my appearance! Now, I hate to even pull that card, because I am so sick of people using it, But by golly, It really happened to me! I will be contacting the corporate office in the morning! read more

First off I will go by saying I have been in retail for 17 years. This store needs to train their staff on how to process online returns. I Purchased two dresses at the same time online brought them in with the tags attached and the paperwork that was provided in the boxes. The lady behind the counter did not know what she was doing, told me because I didn't have the plastic bags that it was going to take her a long time to figure out how to do the return. I showed her my online order and had the paperwork. I can't stand lack of training in retail. Held up the line for 20 minutes with something that should've been easily scanned and processed in less than two minutes. TJ Maxx train your staff. read more

If I could give zero stars I would! I had a horrible experience here today! Let me start off by saying that TJ MAXX is my favorite retailers and I probably have spent approx $10,000 in the past 6-9 months at this location. With that being said I had purchased a few items the week before Christmas and ended up going back today to exchange them and the cashier had the nerve to ask a coworker next to her if the brand of clothes were sold at TJ MAXX insinuating that I was returning clothes from another retailer to them? Even though they had all tags attached and I had my receipt??? Really? I will never go back again and was totally insulted. I have never ever even thought of thinking my nationality or race influenced the service I have received until today! Shame on TJ MAXX. I will be letting everyone I know in social media not to go here and also filing a complaint with the BBB. read more

This place has great finds of handbags and shoes. You never know what you will find. If you go on delivery day you will find new stuff. Be careful if you don't pick up what you like even if your not sure you're going to buy it you may lose it in a second! Never think you can leave and come back to get an item. I am complaining about one of the store managers Potts. She is not professional when handling my returns to the store. I ordered something online and did a return for 5 items last month. Recently I went back to the store and tried to return two items that didn't fit well. The cashier rang up the original order and found out the 2 items I wanted to return were already marked returned! I and the cashier double checked the plastic bags came with the items. They all matched with the shipping clip(invoice), the tags and labels, which means the correct items are in the correct package. So she apologized to me and called the floor manager Potts to take a look. Potts came to investigate the invoice list and the computer record. She told me there was nothing she can do if the computer showed the items were already returned! I told her it's ridiculous if the items were returned and the system was correct, how come I still have the items with the right package bags?!! She then said I needed to call the online order customer service number! I asked her: what on earth this return had to do with the online order department? The online order transaction was successfully completed when I received all my items with nothing missing or extra. She then insisted that I needed to double check the bags even though she agreed that the bags and items were correct as listed on the invoice! She just didn't WANT TO admit the error they made last month!!! At last, she demanded the return receipt from last week from me, which I left home. I was very upset about her attitude of dealing this mess! She gave me the impression that I was the one caused this confusion! HELLO! The return was handled and issued by YOUR staff in YOUR store from YOUR computer! Not mine!!!!! I don't have access to your system! I went home and found the return receipt. It shows there were 5 items returned. So TJMaxx's staff must have messed up multiple items! I still have 3 items that are marked returned!!! 3 item in a single return transaction were messed up! And I was the one to blame on?!!! That's definitely not the way to treat your frequent customers!!! 2 stars off just for this rude person! read more
