Went to three different stores in the Bay Area to find the shoes I've been wanting. I was successful at this location. They do take a really long time on the phone compared to the other DICK's stores and they do redirect you often, but honestly if you have the patience and a couple more minutes. This is the one of the better stores in the Bay Area. It's clean and the customer service is great. I came in, asked for my order, waited in line, paid, and left happy with my new kicks. They have a vast selection of Hydroflasks in stock here and Nike's as well. read more

These stores are all so big, and they look so inviting. Too bad the shopping experience is subpar (as all DICK'S stores tend to be). It doesn't really matter when you come, the store is always understaffed. If you can even find someone to help, they act as if it's some great favor to help you find something, or go behind a counter to grab something. Isn't that your job? My wife and I went in to exchange some pants she purchased a couple weeks ago for the correct size. From the beginning, the staff was short and spoke to her with an unkind tone. When it was time to make the exchange, the manager made it seem like an exchange and a separate purchase were not possible as two separate transactions. When she insisted on the separate transactions, the manager displayed a condescending tone and called her "impatient." He claimed she would get a $5 cash back, something she did not ask for, and before the return transaction could be completed, he said it could not be done because she had a digital card and not a plastic one. He sent her to a separate register that could handle a digital transaction. On the way, another cashier with false lashes made my wife respond to her three times that no, she did not have a plastic card and just the digital one. It was as if the cashier was hoping to goad my wife into getting more upset than she already was. At the new register, Arlen helped us with the exchange and new purchase. He was professional and courteous, a grateful difference from the other two and the only reason for the second star. It is ok for a customer to ask for an exchange on items that don't fit. It is ok that they want to do it on the digital card they made the original purchase with. It is ok that they want the exchange and the new purchase to be separate transactions. The manager and lady with false lashes criminalized my wife, and that is not ok. I would not recommend this business due to its lack of service and professionalism. read more

Came by today as a first time customer looking to make a large purchase (treadmill) Walked by roughly 6 employees on my way to the back on a slow Thursday around 1pm and wasn't greeted once. Went straight to the treadmills to try them out but none of them were functional as they require a key to demo. Saw the manager on duty (scruffy looking guy) while I was on the treadmill trying to demo, we made eye contact but he passed right by me pretending he was busy. Proceeded to pursue him while he started to talk to an employee but he ignored me (while he saw me walking toward them directly) until i was within 2 feet of them and I had to ask them for information on the treadmills.) The lack of customer service is horrendous, especially from "leadership" Won't be making my purchase here. Good luck Dicks. It's about time you reform your business model. When Sports Authority closed its doors, we were concerned there would not be a place to shop any more. Sports Basement is a great place but there are some things they just do not have. The same can be said about REI. So when Dick's started opening at the former locations of SA, all became good with the universe! I was pleasantly surprised to find that this store had a pretty decent selection of goods. Came here looking for some new digs for running, and I found quite a bit of things to choose from. Prices are competitive with every other store, so it's not like you're going to be paying anything more or anything less than what's already being offered anywhere else. I'm not sure how the other departments are, but I'm sure they're just as good, with a pretty knowledgeable staff. Though it's just a department/retail store, the staff has pretty substantial knowledge of all the equipment, which gave me pretty solid peace of mind, and it turned out that it really helped me with my workouts! Solid advice. I'll keep coming back here, though sometimes they don't replenish their stock quickly enough, forcing me to go to other stores, but oh well. It is what it is, baby! read more

I can't address too many parts of the store but I wish to say that I received excellent help in the shoe department, absolutely impressive work. Sarai was patient and informative as I tried to find the perfect pair of shoes for my foot with the plantar fasciitis and broken toe. She found me exactly what I needed. When Sarai had to go, she told me she was leaving and pointed out the people who would then help me. Fine service. I ended up with an extremely comfortable pair of shoes. read more

Growing up in the Midwest, Dicks were plentiful and the place to go for sporting equipment. When they opened stores in the west coast, I was happy to see that. However, this location is average. The store is spacious and clean but there could be more selection across the board outside of shoes. The hang up I have with the shoe section is that I waited and waited while I could hear the workers gossiping and chatting. I finally went behind the wall to ask for a shoe size to try. When I got the shoe, the associate went back to chatting with other employees and left me alone and never checked back with me. With the ridiculous amount of signs all over the damn shopping center, you never would've guessed that this place was having its grand opening this weekend. In need of a new baseball glove and some additional workout shirts, I decided to pay them a visit. I first came on Saturday and walked out almost as soon as I walked in. I'll be damned if I have to wait in a line as long as the one I saw. So I came back the next morning right before they opened. In all honesty, I didn't come here expecting too much as the location used to be occupied by Sports Authority. Sure enough, the layout was, for the most part, the same. The shoes were in the same section as they used to be as was pretty much everything else. They did move the checkout area to the left side of the store. So that's different. Facts: * They have a table setup at the entrance if you're interested in signing up for their rewards program. This is beneficial in that you don't have to worry about waiting in line just to get a membership. * There was an abundance of employees all over the place and everybody was helpful and polite. * However, I did see what appeared to be a manager openly chastise his subordinate in front of other customers including me when he thought she hadn't done her job (when it turns out she did). Bro, there's an old saying: praise in public, admonish in private (or something like that). I don't like to see anybody treated like that. * Massive parking lot in the whole shopping center -- shouldn't be too much of an issue to find parking. * Smooth checkout process -- sometimes, when a store first opens, buying your stuff can be a chore with employees trying to figure things out and such. Brand new store just opened on 3/5/17! The grand opening is 3/17-3/19. All kinds of athletic wear and sports equipment. Nice bright & well lite. I liked that I saw a lot of sports equipment geared toward girls in colors of pink/blue/purple/yellow. Wide roomy aisles & plenty of parking. So nice to have this new store in Sunnyvale. There were a lot of employees on duty and I was really happy that they didn't all bombard me with overly fake service. I signed up for the rewards card at the register upon check out. The store did smell really strong of fresh paint and it caused an allergic response so I ended up cutting my shopping short but not before I bought a fabulous pair of Nike's in army green with a 'sick' pattern...... just the green shoes I'd been waiting to fine. read more

Pathetic customer service. The service team doesn't know how to handle and deal with customers. So disrespectful and rude behaviour. I bought TiS6 tennis racquet for them 2 months ago and the string broke. I came back to the store and asked them which string has to be put in, their team doesn't know anything about the product and couldn't confirm which string has to be put on. I did my research and bought the string. Later I gave my racquet and string to Dicks Sunnyvale store service team to put on the new string. The order executive told me that it will take 2-3 days for the service, I insured to try if it can be done in 1-2 days. Now it is 5 day and still their hasn't been any update. Rather I called them 3-4 times and they have been just asking to wait till I get an call from their team, without confirming on the timeline. I went myself to check on the work status, and shocked to see nothing has been done on it till yet and the person talking was so damn rude and said, if you can't wait then take your racquet and we will return your money. I mean how rude you can talk to a customer for got damn your own delay. I like their website more than the store. If you're looking for team sport stuff, the store's a great place, not so much for fishing gear. The stuff ordered on the web site came when it was supposed to, and there was one I had to pick up in the store but that was ok, I wanted to see the store. If you're looking for fishing gear, Bass Pro Shops is a better store for tackle. Even for trout. They certainly do not emphasize trout fishing in their store but they have a lot of stuff. You can order online and Dick's will really come through and I really like their stance on gun control so I'll give them more online business. I placed an order for curbside pickup on April 25th before 5pm. Called in beforehand to see if it was possible to get it that day and got a confirmation I would be able to just wait to be notified the pickup was ready. Time passed and I didn't get any notification. Called in and they stated that it's been ready for some time but they were closing so I could not pick it up.... I then asked how I could cancel the order due to due to needed it for the following day. (Ended up driving to a separate company's store to get my items and didn't wait more that 15 minutes) I was told to just "wait a few days and don't pick it up and it will be automatically cancelled, we can't cancel your order." A few days pass and I get an email saying "Thanks for picking up your order!" Excuse me??? They let someone else go in and pick up my order? Going against their policy or checking the order number and drivers license upon arrival!???? And then charging me for an order they gave to some random person????? What is this BS. I then proceeded to call the support line, tried calling for nearly a week.. Every time being on hold for at least 20-30 minutes. Calls being cancelled on me happened 3 times, could not get to someone about it until today who told me that they couldn't help. Worst customer support, and a company breaking policy. I'm escalating this for this is not okay to give out something that I was charged for. Anyone can go in and say I have a pickup and not have their order checked? Not have their Drivers license checked? Seriously Dicks Sporting Goods? I expect this to be fixed and additional support for all the damn time I wasted on the phone to just get hung up on or not being able to even reach someone. Plus finally getting to someone a week later being told, sorry we can't help you. Call the store. Worst customer service in a long time. 0 stars if possible. ** Update. SETTING: In a shopping plaza with plenty of parking space (hard to find these days out here). Inside is brightly lit and stocked with lots of items. Navigation inside the store does not seem to be easiest. There isn't an easy way to find where certain sporting gear is located unless you ask for directions. Although the store is neat and tidy, it feels like a maze of shelves and displays and tables. SERVICE: Staff mostly at the checkout area and in the athletic shoe section. These areas are literally in the front and all the way in the back. If you are anywhere in between, it's hard to find someone to help you. The staff are helpful and quick at both locations. Someone was able to help me get different shoe sizes from the back storage room to try on. Check out was quick and easy. IMPRESSIONS: A big store with most likely what you are looking for. Just don't go in thinking you can find what you need in a few minutes like you could in a grocery store. Try to track down someone to help you find things. It will be faster that way. read more

Finally, a place besides big 5 that has sporting goods! I think this store used to be a mervyns. It's a nice store, with a lot of different sporting items along with all the latest brand names. The nice part is that it also sells firearms and other hunting equipment. They have a wide array of items for each sport and I'm sure customer service is pretty good. My one gripe about it is the way they set up their cash registers. It's to the left most side of the store and you need to make one line to go through what would look like a maze. Went to buy shoes well over 30 mins before the store closed. Scanned the shoe into the kiosk for an employee to bring me the shoes from the back. After waiting close to 15 minutes I asked an employee if they were grabbing it and he showed me on their device that someone was. After ten more minutes I asked again and another employee said it wasn't being tracked on their device so it somehow got removed but the guy was nice enough to go and grab it. 5 minutes later the same guy grabs it and I try on the shoe while the store just closed. I liked it and asked another employee to grab me the other shoe because the box only had one. He immediately said they weren't bringing out anymore shoes from the back. I informed him I just wanted the other shoe that I had already asked for over 30 minutes ago. He didn't even try to assist and just said nope sorry we are not bringing out anymore shoes. Less than a minute later a different employee brought out shoes to a different customer so that makes sense. This is a constant issue at this location. I called the freight company Pilot who told me the product is still on hold at the manufactures facility. Needless to say.... Dishonest manager and workers. There is a no entry sweepstakes and the store is required to give a unique identified entry form. The store purposefully provided a photocopied version that does not have a unique identifier, knowing full well that this will not work. When I realized this, I called to ask if they had the correct form, and the guy put me on hold for 9 minutes. I then called back and asked for the manager, and was out on hold for another 5 minutes. I then called back, and the guy then admitted that it was the wrong form, and they wouldnt give me the correct one. I just went to a golf galaxy instead, and they gave the correct form immediately. Nice to see that there is still a Sports store in the area, aside from Big5 there have been a lot of other's thats come and gone within the years. I came as the sun was going down. The plaza does not seem to have working parking lot lights, so it will get quite dark and scary walking to and from your car. I originally came to do a special order on a rifle. It turned out that their system was not setup to do any special orders yet. While I was there I picked up some cheap tennis balls, while checking out I was the next in line and it was still extremely slow! But aside from those things, they receive a 2 stars because of the gentleman running the register. I was asked if I had a Dicks membership card, I said "No I do not". His response was "Ok lets get you set up with a card". In my opinion that is a horrible tactic that puts customers in a position where they feel like they will have to say Yes and go a long with it. This store is very sexist. I wanted to buy a pair of basketball shoes with a friend and I asked where the women's basketball section was. The man just smiled and said there was only the men's section. When we found 2 pairs of shoes that we liked there where no sizes small enough for us. We were then directed to the boy's section. They specialize in sports but offer choice to only 1/2 of the population. I will not be coming here anytime soon. Great location but I miss sports authority. Seems like Dicks has higher prices and even on sale it's not that great of a deal. They still have a lot of better options than Big 5 across the street but the name brand items come with prices here. Great customer service and the store itself is very organized. They still have some good deals on shoes and cleats that are worth stoping in and way better selection. They layout is s molar to sports authority so you can find whatever your looking for pretty easy. They do have a larger selection of items in each area so your bound to find what your looking for.
