When I moved to San Jose, I needed to find a great FFL. I don't really prefer working with gun shops because they tend to be too busy with other things to take care of my transfer needs. For reference , I am a gunsmith and a former owner of Graphite Dynamics, which was a firearms development company. I ran into Friendly FFL. They are a really small place that only does DROS services and they don't sell actual firearms. Loc is a great guy who runs the place. He is an instructor as well as an RO., and he really knows his stuff. Most of all, he literally is friendly. I can tell you from my experience that a lot of FFL folks tend to be gun snobs who act like they know everything and actually look down on customers like we are peasants who know nothing about guns. It's unfortunate that this hobby has a lot of know it all jerks.. They are really friendly and best of all because they are a very knowledgeable. They are more than happy to answer your questions no matter how dumb you may think your question is.. they really do make the firearms hobby more enjoyable . it is especially important when you live in California where there are so many gun laws that changed almost monthly that it's good to have a knowledgeable person to help you deal with it all.. I haven't done any firearms transfers yet, but I've done several ammunition transfers and it was a breeze. Overall, their prices are very low and they are very good at letting you know when your stuff has come in.. Owner Loc is prompt, thorough, extremely knowledgeable and reasonably priced. I found Friendly FFL when I was looking for a service to transfer some long guns across the country. Back in the old days, SF Gun Exchange would have done it without any problems. But that place is gone, and literally every one of the five other Bay Area stores I telephoned said the job was too complicated, the paperwork too onerous, and turned me down.
