Staff here is friendly. I booked an appointment to take my FSC test. When the time came they were ready. The staff was a little slow, but I don't blame them, there's a lot of paperwork. I also purchased a firearm from them. It was overpriced, but supply and demand... As a n00b, they were very respectful and taught me a lot about guns. They called me 2.5 weeks later to pick up the gun. They reserve at least a box of ammo for each firearm purchased, so it was good to at least be able to get 100 rounds from them. I later on found 2k rounds somewhere else and have been hitting the range twice a week ever since. -1 star for the prices, but I loved the customer service and education. read more

Been in this store at least 10 times w/out buying anything at all and always have been welcomed! I've nterrogated them with tons of questions and every single time, they took the time to just teach me and share their perspective on a plethora of topics. From stance, eye relief, slings, mags, handguns, mindset, etc. Installed Trijicon sights on my Sig SP2022 and sigs are not easy to deal with but they were installed perfectly! I've owned guns in the past but had never purchased one in California. Small selection, but great customer service! This isn't your run of the mill firearm store, it's more of a gunsmith with a store front. They carry a small selection of handguns, shotguns, and sporting rifles, but can special order if they don't have it. They even carry some uppers if that's all you need. 7 months is how long it took Harry to solder a front sight on a Mossy 590 and refinish the barrel. 7 months! After 5 months of different excuses for the delay, he finally called and said the job was completed, only for me to drive there and discover the sights were so badly canted they were probably close to an 80 degree angle. When I pointed this out he said his machine had sighted everything straight, but after looking at it agreed it was canted, which apparently means he didn't bother to visually check his work before having me drive up there for nothing. He said he would fix it and have it ready the following week, but after 2 more months of no progress I finally had enough and said I wanted the 590 back, completed or not. He told me it would be ready the next day. I went back the next day, but here's the kicker: the sight is still canted and needs to be removed and resoldered yet again, and all he offered was a 50% discount for wasting 7 months of my time to give me canted sights. I made it clear I wasn't paying for anything (which he thankfully didn't dispute further considering how upset I was by the whole fiasco), so we packed up the 590 and I walked out. Went in the other day looking for something new. I walk in and the entire showcase area is no larger than an average living room. Gun selection was non-existent your standard glocks (17,19 & 26) and m&p shield and that represented the majority of your autoloading hand gun selection. Prices were bleh. $600 bucks for a glock 17. Long gun selection was abysmal maybe 2-3 bolt actions 4-5 ar variants and a couple of shotguns. The coup de grace was when I asked about getting a c&r checked to see if it was safe to fire. Their quote was $100+ ammo + tax. Thanks US Firearms Co but your quote was a disgrace to the community you serve. Gun shops like this should close. If you're in the San Jose metropolitan area and looking for a shop skip this one, it is a waste of time and your money. No selection and they're the kind of shop trying to bleed every customer as much as humanely possible from the pricing of their guns to the price of their service. Updating my review now that I've been able to take my rifle out to the range. For whatever reason.. my BCG broke when test firing at the range. Thinking this was related to the work done, I did some research on what could have caused my BCG to break. Chalked it up to poor maintenance on my rifle over the number of years. Got another BCG and pumped 100+ rounds out. To my satisfaction, got the rifle zeroed in no problem. Shots fired since then show no indication of poor gun smithing. Feeling more confident about the work done, I am skeptical about my broken BCG. Regardless, the rifle functions well. Updating to 3 stars to really reflect more of the experience. Little to no communication about my rifle while in their possession, very rude when dealing with customers, mistook me for ANOTHER Customer and treated me poorly then switched tones when he realized his error, delays in work, empty promises of delivery date. Glad everything is functioning properly. I thought about taking my broken BCG to show them... but didn't wanna deal with anymore attitude. Ill just take what I can get. Advice: work on your people skills my dude. Being backed up with work is understandable given the circumstances. That's no reason to be rude to your customers. If you want to waste money then this is the perfect place! Some of the people who work here are nice, not all, but regardless when it comes to getting stuff done, man they know how to milk you. I am new to long range shooting but I should have listened to my friends about this place, these guys are pretty much like used car salesmen, trying to make you feel like the stuff you bought or read online are crap and the stuff they carry (jacked the price up by x3) are what you need. I was told my universal harris bipod did not fit, again this was a universal bipod without the swivel...charged me x3 as much as the one i paid for. Again this is all my fault for making the purchase in the first place, charged me $65-96 to change out a bolt handle...charged $65 to bore sight it. You're probably thinking what idiot would pay for this to begin with, yes lesson learned. But the morale is what kind of jerks would charge you that much in the first place. Stay away as best as possible, there are more affordable, honest, better gun smiths in California, just read the reviews and look out for our wallet. read more

I love this place. I've bought 3 guns from them, and every single experience was A+. My first gun ever was a handgun, I bought it from these guys and they helped me a lot with the selection. For some reason, I had it in my head to get a 10mm. They helpfully pointed out that while the shooting experience might be fun, paying a ton for ammo constantly IF I could even find it would get old quickly. I got a 9mm and love it, I've already sunk $700 in modifications into it and I'm hugely attached to my personalized handgun. My second gun was a rifle, they sourced an extremely high end AR (this stands for "Armalight", FYI, not something rhyming with "shmassault shmepon") that's actually the same model that the US Marine Special Forces use. The gun is insanely accurate, much more so than me. They made the process easy and went over all the controls, and I love it. It may be a range queen, but it's still an awesome gun. The last gun I bought was a limited edition version of the shotgun that the Marines use. They sourced the gun and got it in time for an early Christmas present to myself. I love that gun, shoulder bruises be damned it's still the most fun thing to shoot. The fireball it shoots out is also endlessly entertaining. The shop itself is clean, well-lit, organized, and all the salespeople are extremely welcoming and knowledgeable. During the processing of my application for the shotgun there was some computer issue at the ATF, and the people working told me I'm free to check out any guns on display or whatever. Overall, I would highly recommend US Firearms for anyone looking for guns, ammo, parts, or advice. A lot of the guns they have in stock skew towards the modern end of the spectrum, but they've proven able to source out of stock and hard to find items, so if there's something specific I'm sure they'd be happy to help. read more

This store is my go to store for anything gun related. I had an issue with a rifle purchase being delayed, but it was fixed and all is well. They are friendlier than every other store in the bay area. Jill, Mike and Harry do a great job. Their prices are competitive and comparable to every other store in the bay area. Besides the communication issue mentioned above, I ended up buying a rifle and another handgun here. All went smoothly, and I am a happy customer. For those complaining that they mark up prices on accessories... they do mark up (its a store front in CALIFORNIA !) You can't expect them to beat online prices. No, they are not 3x more expensive than anywhere else. Conclusion: Pay a visit and see for yourself, these guys are great. Bunch of elitist pricks. Brought in my psa (palmetto state armory) for some work. They wanted to charge an arm and a leg for the work. They wanted to charge me 200-250 for putting together my upper and to top it off employees can't say psa there. They look down on you if you have cheap firearms. This is the type of gun shop that you hear of "man they are rude and not friendly at all" from people. Definitely stay away if you are an 80%'er they hate those people. This shop is close to my house and I'm always willing to give a local shop a chance. Recently I had them stipple my Glock 19. I've had stipple jobs done before, (privately and in house) on mutliple guns. It took about 2 weeks to complete the job, which I thought was reasonable. The craftsmanship was excellent, a little pricey but you get what you pay for and I'm extremely satisfied. The staff is extremely helpful and polite. They are knowledgeable and always down to chat. The inventory on hand is a little slim, not much to look at in person. Overall I am very impressed with the staff and the quality of work they do. Mind you I've just had them stipple my Glock. So I went here today. I was looking for AR lowers. Saw and FN SCAR but when I asked how much, was told that it wasn't for sale... ok. Why is it displayed then, idk... like hey we have these cool guns but cannot sell to you, haha. Get the CA legal ones then. Anyways, asked about the AR lowers and I was told they were $350 (don't quote me, ($320-360). Now I don't know much about guns but that is a pretty steep price... I've seen them in the hundreds range. But whatever, ok... maybe it is some super duper high end brand but it is still a lower. But it seems like maybe they were just steeping up the price considering everyone is trying to get either lowers/semi autos before next year. But you are still going to do business next year, and you're still going to need customers next year. So the guy you rip off today for $150-200 dollars probably won't feel like coming here next year now knowing that you hike up prices for your convenience. And this was actually my 2nd time here, I had previously bought a light and knife from. But like I said, I don't know a whole lot about guns and maybe that lower is worth nearly $400 with DROS fees and taxes, but I'm glad I won't find out. I took my buisness to Gun Vault on W. I went to a lot of the local shops around the South Bay Area to look for and purchase my first firearm. For some reason, every place I went to before US Fire Arms seemed to belittle you for not knowing much about firearms, and even in some cases they would joke that they would not talk to you for looking at a Glock ahem "Reeds". Not only was I impressed with the employees knowledge, and I mean ALL of them, but I was also impressed by their passion to actually talk to you about what you are interested in purchasing. I came in looking to buy my first Handgun. Yes they do have a small selection, but if you know what gun you want, they can order it for you. I appreciate these small local businesses because they do not carry a bunch of guns that will just sit there like some kind of Walmart. Just because the gun you want is not there, does not mean they can not educate you on it. I gave them my business because of their impressive customer services. People do not realize that it is a small business, and these business is what BUILT AMERICA. Support your local businesses! If you have a problem, just go back in and they will take care of you. NO ONE IS PERFECT. I have purchased my first Handgun SIG P226, and I just picked up my LMT MRP CQB16 2 days ago from US Firearms. If they are busy helping out other customers, then wait or come back later when its not so busy. Don't be a pussy ass little girl and write about it just cause you had to wait. It's quality over quantity, and if you want to know everything about your next purchase, then just be patient. I definitely recommend anyone who is a first time buyer to come here. It is a well organized gun store. People here are nice and try to help. The only thing is they have really limited stock. I come here to get one handgun, and they ask me $100 for deposit for a handgun that I want. I've been told that they've lock one down from their distributor and need wait 7-10 days for it to arrive. After 10 days, I got no update and calls back. They told me they won't be able to get one for me. I was so disappointed no for not get what I want but for they should let me know if they are not able to get one for me rather than waste me 10 days and didn't even give me update until I called. If you want get a pistol, I would recommend you check the other place which have way better stock in store first. read more

I was impressed with US Firearms Co at first. The employees seem knowledgable and very helpful. However the more I came back and the more I learned about firearms in general the less impressed I was with this shop. My experience having them install and bore-sight a scope on my Remington 700 was less than satisfactory. They didn't call me back like they said they would upon completing the work, I had to call them a few days later to confirm that it was ready. Annoying. Upon picking it up one of the salesmen tried to sell me a tactical sling saying how great they are. During the entire pitch my 700 was on the table between us with the exact type of sling he was selling already on it. Awkward... I later found out that the gun smith didn't torque the scope to spec, it was much too loose. My buddy's scope who was also installed by them was even worse. Fail. This place might be fine for picking up some full-priced accessories you don't have time to Amazon but their knowledge is questionable. Would not recommend. read more

I'm really pretty new to guns and shooting. I do have a .22 rifle, but apart from 3 or 4 times going to the range with friends and renting, I have almost no experience with a pistol. I decided to change that buy buying my first handgun this week. I was pretty intimidated by the process, but after reading the reviews here on Yelp I decided to swing by U.S. Firearms and ask them for guidance. I'm really glad I did. Yeah, I was skeptical, but everything you've read in these reviews seems true. The store is NOT one of those dark and dingy old gun stores. It's clean, open, well lit, and staffed by some really friendly people. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a staff member who had not an ounce of pretension about him. He was super friendly, corrected my misunderstandings without sounding arrogant, and he was never once rude. He spent a lot of time with me - I think I was there for almost an hour trying out different semiautomatic pistols, improving my grip, and learning the ins and outs. I never felt pressured to buy, either. I eventually decided on a pistol, and he guided me through the steps of taking the Handgun Safety Certificate test and filling out the registration forms. We were there well after closing to finish up. I left feeling really good about my purchase, and about the experience. The only downside right now is that the shop has a pretty small selection. But I completely understand. They've been open for all of four months, they need time to fill up. If they don't have something in stock, I'd personally be happy to have them order it and wait a while. Whether you're new to guns or experienced, you should really give these guys a try. read more

Great place. Very good knowledge.They also do various training. Had my rifle scope added and sighted in (bore sighted) here, and it was done for less money than all the other places that I called (except one that said it would take 2 to 3 weeks or more). The work was so good that I made a perfect bullseye at 75 yards!! Right in the middle of the "X"!! We also had a great talk about guns and politics. This place is getting pressured to close, just like many other gun shops in the Bay Area, and it's really sad. Laws and policies are getting slowly worked into this industry in a way that they slowly cut more and more rights, like death by a thousand cuts. Unless you are a fantical anti-gun person, you should definitely support these places. This is where you can get good information and training on gun safety and ownership. I've been going to Eric Fisher's place for years. Why? Its simple, the service and support from this place has grown and scaled to keep pace as me as a gun owner. As, a self taught gun newbie walking in there for the first time. I was very happy to be given information, opinion, and the most important real world examples on the reason why they would recommend a certain firearm, accessory or ammunition. I quickly came to realize that US Firearms will always make time to answer my myriad of questions. I was delighted to find that the armourer and the gunsmith which allowed them to custom build a 1911, AR15, shotgun etc for me. Heck, the gunsmith has been able to fix my 100 year old guns or MAKE a part for me. BTW. I believe this is unique to US Firearms and not many boutique gun shops in the Bay Area have this on-site service at all. However, what I value above everything else is the relationship that I now have with the store. So much so, that I was willing to help the store by putting my name as a customer in a lawsuit brought by US Fireams to fight Sunnyvale's anti-gun ordinance Measure C. Yes, US Firearms is just not in the business of selling you firearms and services. They actually are fighting the good fight. That said, with the help of the store and all its services I have taken my training, collection investment worth, and knowledge of firearms to the next level. Don't take my word for it. I went into this store initially quite impressed. I liked the setup, the staff was friendly, they had an interesting set of guns to look at. Overall a well setup store. But that was just my initial impression. I went in to have my rifle bore sighted and mounted with a scope and rail. I came back to pick up the rifle in 2 days, they were courteous and helpful to do this. However I had a few issues with this whole process. 1. Going into the store (and this is probably a direct result of the massive increase in sales of guns) is hectic. They are disorganized in helping people. You can expect to wait at least 20 minutes before getting help, and wait more since they have bottlenecks in who can do what at the store. They also felt continually stressed and there was always high tension in the air. Once again, I'm sure this is due to higher demand, however I don't know if that is really a good excuse as that is just better business for them. 2. The result of my rifle being bore sighted/mounted with a scope was pretty horrible. At first when he handed me the rifle I thought everything looked fine, but I have to be honest I didn't check the setup right there at the store I just took it for granted. I went to the range and was surprised I wasn't even hitting paper at 50 yards. This is very unusual. If you are bore sighted correctly you should have no problem. I went to check the scope, I found that: -- Rifle couldn't hit paper after I paid for a bore sighting. -- Scope was not even level to the action -- Scope rings were not torqued at all. One of the nuts were literally not even hand tight. I did NOT touch the setup at all from the gun shop to the range. So this was definitely a mistake on the gun smith's part. Overall I find the staff to be knowledgable but I think they are choking to increased pressure, perhaps they need to hire more workers or have higher quality control. I ended up doing the whole bore sighting process myself and had no issues. read more

I came to this store already knowing what I wanted to buy, a rock river AR-15. Little did I know that gun was not available there. However, the salesperson, Eric, was kind enough to lead me to a similar gun with a higher attention to detail in quality but not a pocket book breaker. The LMT standard patrol AR. I immediately fell in love with it. It's lightweight easy to maintain and has tons of options for attachments. I left there a little bit poorer but a lot more happier. I'll start with the bad. They are very lacking in selection. But you know what, it's a new store and lets face it stocking a place like that would be a small to medium sized fortune. Also the stock they have seems to be a little on the high end. And yeah, it's a little pricey. But if they want to specialize in high end only that's fine. I get it. I just wish they would carry some mid-range stuff as well. Oh and parking can be tough. But everything else rocks. The staff is not only super friendly but they know what they are talking about. Also, it's a nice, clean, upscale kind of place. And did I mention the stuffed bear? A big hit with my son. All that said, I'm in the market for a mid priced 9mm. Maybe a Ruger SR9c and it seems that Ruger's are below their threshold so I will have to shop for that elsewhere. But I'm also looking for a AR or maybe even an AK and they have been a big help in talking me through things. I'm pretty sure that when I'm ready to make that purchase it will be here. read more

Been meaning to review these guys for a while. I've been in a few times now and they have ALWAYS given me 100% top-notch service. I was doing a FTF transfer from a guy on Calguns who drove up from Central California to make the transfer. We get to another local store (who shall remain nameless...), and the owner goes, "No, we're not doing a transfer within 30 mins of closing." Thank GOD US Firearms had recently opened right down the street. Cruised over and got our transfer done no problem. Every time I've been in there, the guys have been 100% friendly and just plain excited to talk guns. Last time I was there I had a little smithing done and picked up some new toys for the AR. Fair pricing all around. The only reason I knock off one star is because he only stocks super-premium (IMHO) gear, and doesn't carry much (if any) used. We're not ALL using our weapon like our life depended on it, and it'd be nice if he'd pick up some mid-range/value stuff for the rest of us who don't have $3k to spend on an AR. Other than that, I can't recommend these guys highly enough. Oh, BTW if you don't get the primo spot up front, just park around back and walk back to the front. read more

I bought a Glock 19 from US Firearms. I asked no pistol-related questions since I knew what I wanted so I cannot comment on the knowledge of the staff. The price for the gun was +/- 5% of other stores. They were friendly and the process from getting the HSC to taking possession of the gun was straightforward. They offered to review their approach to cleaning a Glock after I had put some rounds down range and I took advantage of it. The only complaint is that they have very little inventory on hand. They seem to rely on a distributor and batch order from it. This means that you can wait 7-10 days before the weapon arrives. The CA 10-day waiting period doesn't start until the gun is bought & in the store. It can take nearly 3 weeks in total after you put down your deposit. read more

I love California more than most things. Owning a firearm here isn't the easiest thing, but living here makes any hoops worth jumping through. My experience with firearm stores has ranged from shady to just plain mean. So often, you're walking into a place that just says "Guns, guns, guns" on the front like it's some topless revue. The clerks are dicks and the selection is either terrible, inconsistent, or underwhemling. US Firearms Co. is the exact opposite of the crappy gun store experience. Everyone who works there knows exactly what they're talking about. No looking down at you or scoffing; Mike, Eric and the entire staff genuinely care about educating you in making the purchase that's right for you. No upselling or high-pressure tactics. If you're looking for something just because it looks cool, they're excited to help you get that. If you don't know a thing about firearms, then they'll educate you and teach you the basics before they even show you something from the rack. This place is clean, well-stocked, and justly-priced. They'll work with you and make sure you leave the story giddy with excitement. Because of my experience with Eric, Mike and the rest of the staff at US Firearms Co. was so positive, it's now the only place in the Bay Area that I'll go to ask, buy, or learn about firearms. Eric and his staff are patient, friendly, and honest. I am very pleased with their customer service and find them to be very knowledgeable. They answer all questions (sometimes before I even have to ask), and are not pushy or arrogant with advice or suggestions. The only minus is their limited parking in front but there are sufficient spaces in the back, even on a busy day. After a dry spell of many years, I recently purchased a Remmy 700 from them. While they did not have my particular rifle in stock, they were able to fulfill my order quickly and painlessly. Today, I picked up some cleaning tools and chemicals because the kit I ordered from Midway, early last week, did not ship until this morning and won't get here until the middle of next week. Very nice & clean store. I stopped here yesterday to check it out and p/u few peaces for gun cleaning kit (BTW NICE BIG SELECTION).
