Not bad.. there are few of these types of stores around. At least in the Bay Area. They are a little pricey, but you can find what you need

Great selection and prices! I spent less than my budget and got more items than I came for.

Yesterday, my wife and I visited REI in Sunnyvale so that my wife could try on various shoes and…read morepurchase what she preferred. Although staff was helpful to her in her search for shoes, what made the entire experience terrible was how hard staff pushed us toward purchasing a membership. One staff member assisting my wife initially had done the sales pitch, and we listened willingly. Later on, another person gave the same sales pitch to my wife, and she kindly told her that she's already been told about the membership. When we went to the check-out counter, the person at the counter started giving the same sales pitch about the membership. I immediately cut her off, my wife told her that she has already been told about it, and I said "no thank you." The person at the counter again tried to give the pitch, and I cut her off again and said "no thank you." For a third time, she tried to resume the sales pitch. I got ticked and gave her a stern response: "NO PLEASE!" She finally stopped. That entire experience left a bad impression on me, and I wasn't sure if this type of thing was specific to just the REI in Sunnyvale (I normally don't shop at REI). So I did some research online and found out that this type of thing happens commonly among various REI stores. I even found an online article from 2015 that talked about this, even citing the CEO of REI who gave a response regarding this matter of pushing memberships. He came across as being understanding of this matter. But that was back in 2015. it's now 2026, and obviously nothing has changed relating to this. I'm not returning to REI after what I experienced yesterday. They've lost any potential future business from me. If they can't accept an initial "no" answer and thus continue to push the sale of a membership, they've lost my respect and my business. And should anyone from REI choose to respond to this post, it's not changing anything from me relating to REI.

Posting this as a cautionary tale for anyone buying shoes at Dick's Sporting Goods - Sunnyvale…read more This would have been a one star rating if not for Xavier in Footwear. Excellent service and attitude. I bought a pair of On Cloud shoes and within 5 days realized they were too big. The issue only showed up in real-world use: when walking downhill my foot slid forward into the toe box. That's not something you reliably catch by taking a few steps indoors. I went back to do a simple exchange (not a refund). The shoes were clean and in excellent condition. The only visible difference was very slight yellowing on the outsole contact pads -- noticeable under their bright store lighting but not dirty, or damaged. At first I was told the exchange would be fine. After further inspection, they reversed course and said the shoes were not "resaleable" due to wear. I spoke with multiple people (each initially identifying themselves as "the manager" before clarifying their role), and after a lot of back and forth the best options offered were: * 15% off a replacement pair, or * $60 store credit as a "no receipt return" value (they said this reflects the lowest recent selling price and excludes clearance). I ultimately took the $60 credit because my time is worth something and I needed the correct size. But the key takeaway is this: If you buy shoes here, assume you cannot test them outdoors -- even briefly -- without risking being denied an exchange. The 90-day return policy sounds generous, but in practice footwear appears to need to look completely unworn to qualify. I'm sharing this so others don't make the same assumption I did.

It's too bad they don't have this style anymore cuz it's super light, warm and comfy! Even though I owned a handful of jackets from them but I always come back to Thai mid length jacket I have. Service was great and attentive and luckily they do repair my broken zipper. I love this brand more than Northface and Patagonia.

Much more expensive than Patagonia, sure but hey I want to be fancy too right? One of the worst purchases I've mad. The jacket itself was decent quality, nothing amazing but pretty on par with Patagonia. A few months later I noticed a small tear in the front of the jacket, not from it getting ripped by something but just from typical wear and tear. I've had similar things happen to me for my Patagonia stuff, I just walked into the store and they repaired or replaced it with a smile so considering Arc'teryx is "fancier" I expected AT LEAST that level of service. I went into the store, staff was decently friendly but just logging my warranty claim took 45 minutes. They couldn't tell me on the spot if it could be covered or not but the associate assured me that he thinks it won't be an issue. I give them the and a few days later I get an email telling me that my repair is complete and awaiting carrier pick up and I would get an email with the tracking, awesome! 4 weeks go by an I hear nothing so I decide to give the store a call. The employee who picks up tells me that the repair is complete at their factory location (I think he said in Washington) but the carrier still needs to pick it up. I ask him if it's normal to take 4 weeks for a carrier to pick up a shipment and he says yes it is. I then question him if the product will be mailed to my house or the store at which point he asks me for my case number and name. My question is if you didn't know my case number and name HOW IN THE WORLD DID YOU KNOW MY REPAIR IS COMPLETE?! clearly he was just giving me a BS answer to get me off the phone. I give him my case number and he tells me that he doesn't even see my case in their system, he has 0 record of anything, doesn't know where my jacket is, doesn't even have my name in the system and I need to contact Arc'teryx corporate, just WTF!?!?! are you kidding me?!! A few days go by and I get an email from Arc'teryx corporate telling me that my jacket repair is not covered under warranty and they want $75 to repair the jacket. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE customer service. look at all the negative reviews on here. I will NEVER buy arc'teryx again, or should I say arc'craptix, low quality products, absolute crap customer service, horrible company. I hope they fail and go bankrupt

Service: 5/5 Selection: 5/5…read moreValue: 5/5 The staff here are literally the best -- the owner is happy to chat with you about the best apps to check weather, the specifics of their technology to check which ski boot fits your foot best, etc. They had a boot that was specifically meant to fit thinner, flatter feet (like mine lmao) which I think is pretty rare and it was in really good condition! I also got to rent socks that they recommended worked best with their ski boots and returned them alongside skis and boots at the end. You can rent snowboard equipment here too, similar setup where they measure your foot size, explain how best to put on and tighten the boots. Everything is well taken care of and in good quality. Their scheduling system is pretty flexible online, there's several afternoon slots most days and dropoff is also easy. Overall, prices are amazing especially compared to the markup of renting equipment with the resorts. I so recommend!
